Last Chapter

Ash's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of rocks cracking and falling beneath his feet. He gasped as the ground beneath him broke apart, and he stumbled backward, almost falling into the gaping hole. His heart raced as he tried to find something to hold onto, but there was almost nothing nearby to grab and then he was able to grab a rock..

The others shouted his name, but their voices seemed distant and muffled as he teetered on the edge of the chasm. Ash's mind raced as he tried to figure out how to get out of this situation. The thought of falling into the molten lava below terrified him, and he knew he had to act fast.

As he looked down, he saw the molten lava glowing bright orange and yellow, and he knew that falling in would be certain death.

Ash said "I need a hand."

Ash's heart began to race as he realized that his friends weren't coming to his aid. "What are you all doing? Help me!" he called out again, desperation creeping into his voice. But they continued to look down at him, their expressions unreadable. Ash's mind raced as he tried to make sense of what was happening. "Why aren't you helping me?" he shouted.

May finally spoke up, "I'm sorry, Ash. We can't help you."

"What do you mean you can't help me?" Ash asked incredulously.

Cilan spoke up next. "It was all part of the plan, Ash. We had to make sure you were out of the way. You are just a pest."

Ash felt like he had been punched in the gut. "Why do you need me out of the way?"

Dawn spoke up next, her voice surprisingly cold. "It's not personal, Ash. It's just business. The business of getting rid of you."

Ash couldn't believe what he was hearing. His friends, the people he trusted the most, had turned on him. He felt a surge of anger well up inside him. "I can't believe you would do this to me. After everything we've been through."

Serena spoke up next, her voice trembling slightly. "We're sorry, Ash. But we have to do this. You being gone from the world is a good thing as it means one less useless eater who puts his friends in danger by going against villianous teams."

Ash felt his grip on the rock starting to slip. He knew he couldn't hold on much longer. "Please, someone help me!" he called out one last time, but nobody came to his aid.

Ash couldn't believe what he was hearing. His friends were all berating him, and it was hitting him harder than any of his opponents ever had. He had always thought that his friends were his support system, but now, it seemed like they were all turning against him.

He tried to defend himself. "Guys, I don't understand what's going on. I'm not trying to hurt anyone, I'm just trying to be the best trainer I can be."

But his words fell on deaf ears. Iris sneered at him. "You don't even know how to treat your Pokémon right. All you do is push them to the limit, without any thought for their wellbeing."

Serena added, "And you always put your own goals before anyone else's. You never once asked us if we wanted to help you take down Team Rocket or any other evil organization."

Cilan chimed in, "You're too obsessed with battling, and you never take the time to appreciate the beauty of nature or the art of cooking."

Max finished with a scathing remark, "You're not even a good trainer anymore. You lost to a Cerulean City gym leader, Misty after being World Champion, and your skills have stagnated. I'm ashamed to have ever looked up to you."

Ash felt like he had been punched in the gut. He had never felt so alone in his life. All his friends, the people he had travelled with for so many years, had turned against him. He didn't know what to say or do.

Dawn looked down at Ash with a look of pity. "We're not going to throw you into the lava, Ash. But you need to understand that you've hurt a lot of people, including us. And we can't just keep letting it happen."

Ash felt a glimmer of hope. "Then...you'll help me up?"

Dawn shook her head. "No, Ash. You need to climb up yourself. You need to prove to us that you're willing to change, that you're willing to take responsibility for your actions."

Ash felt a surge of anger. "What actions? What did I even do to you guys?"

Dawn sighed. "It's not just about us, Ash. It's about all the times you've put your Pokemon in danger, all the times you've caused destruction and chaos, all the times you've refused to listen to reason."

Ash felt like he was being attacked from all sides. "I-I didn't mean to...I didn't know..."

Dawn cut him off. "That's not good enough anymore, Ash. You need to do better. And until you do, we can't be your friends."

Ash woke up in the grand room, his bedroom, and looked around. The spacious room was filled with luxurious furniture, and it was clear that no expense had been spared in its design. On one side, there was a massive battle facility, complete with all kinds of equipment and obstacles. Ash knew that this was where he could train his Pokémon and hone his skills as a trainer.

To the other side, there was a huge flat-screen television and a state-of-the-art PC system. The computer was linked to all the Pokémon centers in every region, allowing Ash to easily transfer his Pokémon to different locations. He could also use it to keep track of his progress in the various leagues and tournaments he participated in.

But what really caught Ash's attention was the balcony. It was an expansive platform that overlooked the entire region, with a breathtaking view that seemed to go on forever. From here, Ash could see every town, city, and landmark in the area. The sun was setting on the horizon, casting a warm orange glow across the landscape.

The balcony was Ash's favorite spot in the entire room, and he found himself standing there many times, looking out at the world below. It was here that he found solace in knowing what he was doing, in his mission to become the greatest Pokémon master the world had ever known. And as he stood there, he knew that nothing could stop him from achieving his dreams.

Present

Ash Ketchum sat at the circular table, tapping his foot anxiously as he waited for the other champions to arrive. The meeting with Mr. Goodshow was always a big deal, and Ash knew that this one must be particularly important to warrant the long journey to Sinnoh.

Lake Acuity was a beautiful location, with its crystal clear waters and snow-capped mountains in the distance. But Ash couldn't appreciate the scenery as much as he wanted to. He was too preoccupied with the upcoming meeting and what it could mean for his future as a champion.

As time passed, the other champions began to trickle in. Misty arrived first, followed by Lance and Steven. Ash exchanged nods with each of them, acknowledging their presence but not wanting to engage in small talk just yet. He had to stay focused on the meeting.

Cynthia arrived next, and Ash couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated by her presence. She was a formidable opponent and one of the most respected champions in the league. He made a mental note to pay close attention to anything she said during the meeting.

Iris and Diantha arrived together, chatting animatedly as they took their seats. Ash was a bit envious of their easy camaraderie. He had always struggled to make friends with other trainers, especially those as accomplished as the other champions.

Finally, Leon arrived, fashionably late as usual. Ash rolled his eyes at the sight of him but couldn't deny the man's talent as a trainer.

Mr. Goodshow arrived last, his presence commanding everyone's attention. Gladion then asked Ash "Who are you?"

Ash felt a bit flustered at the sudden attention on him, especially from a champion he had never met before as Blake. He quickly tried to collect himself and replied, "Oh, sorry about that. I'm Blake, the Paldean Champion."

Gladion raised an eyebrow, surprised at the mention of a new champion from a region he hadn't heard of. "Paldea? I've never heard of it," he said, looking skeptical.

The other champions murmured in agreement, and Ash felt a bit self-conscious. He had heard that some of the other regions could be a bit insular, but he hadn't expected this level of ignorance.

Mr. Goodshow, as always, was quick to smooth things over. "Ah, yes, Paldea. It's a new region that was recently recognized by the League. Blake here is their first champion, and we're happy to have him join us today."

The other champions looked a bit more interested now, and Ash felt a sense of relief. He didn't want to start off on the wrong foot with the other champions.

Ash, still feeling a little uncomfortable, shifted in his seat as the conversation continued around him. He wasn't used to being the center of attention like this, especially when it involved his past behavior of skipping out on mandatory meetings.

Gladion had taken a step back, now leaning against the wall with crossed arms, still eyeing Ash with suspicion. Misty and Cynthia exchanged a glance, seemingly trying to decipher Blake's true motives for attending this meeting.

Mr. Goodshow, however, remained calm and collected, addressing Blake directly. "So… you're the champion from Paldea then eh? Leon here had saved your ass on multiple occasions, care to tell me why you've decided to skip out on over a dozen meetings? You know, the ones that are mandatory?" Ash felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him at the reminder of his past mistakes.

Blake, feeling slightly more at ease, let out a small chuckle. "No, not particularly." The other champions sweatdropped at this response, unsure of how to react.

Mr. Goodshow let out a deep sigh, clearly exasperated by Blake's lack of explanation. "Very well, you've got our attention. Why exactly is it that you chose to come to this particular meeting?"

Blake's smirked, looking a little more confident now. "Well, isn't it obvious? This is the meeting where we shall decide where the half decade tournament will be held, and I also had reasons to believe that this committee would decide to send the tournament to Paldea either way, whether I was present for this meeting or not."

The other champions looked impressed by Blake's knowledge, with Lance and Steven exchanging a knowing glance. Mr. Goodshow, however, had some questions of his own. "You are correct, Mr. Blake. The tournament—"

Blake interrupted him, his tone lightening up a bit. "Please. Blake is just fine; Mr. Blake makes me sound old."

Lance and Steven chuckled at Blake's joke, while the rest of the champions looked on with curious expressions. Mr. Goodshow couldn't help but smile at Blake's easygoing demeanor. "Blake it is. Your assumptions are correct Blake, the tournament is being held in Paldea in the newly built stadium and city."

Blake's expression didn't seem entirely pleased by the news. "You make it sound like you've already decided."

Mr. Goodshow nodded in confirmation. "It's because we have."

Ash felt a little nervous as Mr. Goodshow stared at him. He knew he was dressed a little differently than the other champions, but he didn't expect to be scrutinized like this. Leon was watching with interest, and the other champions were also curious. Ash wondered if they knew he was actually Ash Ketchum.

After a moment, Mr. Goodshow spoke again. "I can see why Leon vouched for you. You have a certain aura about you that is hard to ignore." Ash wasn't sure how to respond to that, so he just nodded. Mr. Goodshow continued, "But that doesn't excuse you from attending these meetings. They are mandatory for a reason. We need to work together if we want to make progress and ensure the safety of our regions."

Ash felt a little ashamed at that. He knew he had been avoiding these meetings because he didn't want to deal with the questions and attention that came with being a champion. But he also knew he couldn't avoid them forever.

"I understand, sir," Ash said softly. "I'll make sure to attend all future meetings."

Mr. Goodshow nodded, satisfied with his answer. "Good. Now, let's move on to more important matters. The tournament will be held in Paldea, as we've already decided. Does anyone have any objections?"

The other champions shook their heads, and Mr. Goodshow continued. "Excellent. Now, let's discuss the logistics and preparations that need to be made. This will be a big event, and we need to make sure everything is in order."

As the meeting continued, Ash listened intently, taking notes and making mental plans for how he could contribute to the preparations. He was determined to make up for his past absences and prove himself as a valuable member of the champion's committee.

Mr. Goodshow's words were a mixture of praise and frustration, and Ash listened carefully to what he had to say. "You obviously chose not to come to any meetings… because your blasted city wasn't completed," Goodshow said, his tone slightly scolding. Ash felt a pang of guilt and embarrassment wash over him, but he tried not to show it.

Blake, however, remained cool and collected. "I see. And how did you know that?" he asked, curious about how Goodshow had found out.

The older man didn't miss a beat. "When your designer Sophocles sent me the final pictures of the city not too long ago, I couldn't believe just how magnificent it was! It was royal! Astounding! Completely and utterly Magnificent! He swore to me that it would be ready in time for the tournament, and I was legitimately about to place the tournament in Unova…" Goodshow rambled on, clearly excited about the upcoming tournament.

Ash's eyes widened at the mention of Sophocles. He had no idea that the quirky inventor had been in contact with Mr. Goodshow about Glaseado City. He wondered what kind of promises Sophocles had made to convince the older man that the city would be ready in time.

Goodshow interrupted Ash's thoughts. "B-but don't worry! I knew your designer would succeed, and just in the nick of time; A mere month before the tournament starts!" he exclaimed, clearly relieved that everything had worked out.

Ash nodded, relieved himself that the tournament was still going to take place in Glaseado City. He had worked hard to make sure that the city was ready for the tournament, and he didn't want all of that effort to go to waste. However, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt at the thought of all the extra security measures that would have to be put in place because of the tournament. He knew that it was necessary, but he still felt responsible for the inconvenience. Aether Paradise only had a month to increase security measures.

Ash's mind had been wandering, and he quickly snapped back to reality as he realized everyone was looking at him. Mr. Goodshow had a smile on his face, waiting for Ash's response.

Ash cleared his throat and spoke softly, trying to keep his nerves in check. "You're correct, Mr. Goodshow."

The older man's smile widened. "I knew it!" he exclaimed, pleased with himself for correctly guessing Ash's reasons for missing the meetings.

Ash cleared his throat, feeling the weight of everyone's attention on him. He knew he had to explain himself, but he also didn't want to reveal too much about Aether Paradise and the Ultra Beasts.

"I oversaw the construction of Glaseado City, but I was also busy with the people who lived there. You see, Glaseado is a planned city that I had built to connect Paldea's largest city with the Pokémon League and Aether Paradise. It was important for me to be in close proximity with the organization, as they deal with extraterrestrial beings called Ultra Beasts."

Cynthia's eyes widened in surprise at the mention of the Ultra Beasts. "Why have we never heard of these Ultra Beasts before?"

Blake, ever the cool and collected one, spoke up. "As I mentioned earlier, the existence of Ultra Beasts is a closely guarded secret in Paldea. We have measures in place to contain them within our borders, and if the public were to find out about them, it could cause chaos. As long as Aether Paradise is operational, we can ensure that no Ultra Beasts appear outside of Paldea."

"But the Ultra Beasts were just one of the things I was busy with. Glaseado City is still a young city, only three years old, and I wanted to make sure that the citizens there were well taken care of."

He paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts. "I wanted to make sure that the city had everything it needed to thrive, from proper infrastructure to quality healthcare. It was a big task, but I'm proud to say that Glaseado City is now a thriving metropolis."

Mr. Goodshow smiled, clearly impressed by Ash's dedication to the people of Glaseado City. "Well done, Blake. It's no wonder you were too busy to attend our past meetings. But now that everything is taken care of, I hope we can count on your full participation in future meetings."

Ash nodded, feeling relieved that Mr. Goodshow seemed to understand. "Of course, Mr. Goodshow. You can count on me."

Everyone was listening to the young Champion. "Team Snagem is an organization from Orre that is now in Paldea… class 'C' douchebags. The organization is less organized than Rocket, less cunning than Galactic, less ambitious than Plasma, and not hellbent on powerful Pokémon like Flare. They're simply pests who try to assert dominance when the only thing they actually assert is how stupid they are."

Ash continued to explain the situation. "I've already taken care of them, of course. I'm doing my best to keep them out of Glaseado City and the rest of Paldea."

Cynthia interjected. "But why do you feel the need to personally handle these situations? Surely you have trainers and law enforcement to take care of these things?"

Ash gave a small smile. "Of course I do. But sometimes, personal involvement is necessary. It shows that I care for my people and their safety. Plus, it's a great way to keep my own skills sharp."

Steven nodded in agreement. "It's always important to stay on top of things and not let your guard down, even as a champion."

Goodshow finally spoke up. "I'm impressed, Blake. It's good to see a young champion take their responsibilities seriously. You truly are a credit to Paldea."

Ash bowed his head slightly in gratitude. "Thank you, Mr. Goodshow. I just want to do my best for Paldea and its people."

Mr. Goodshow quietly said. "You have spoken like how a true Champion would speak. I appreciate you for the duty that you have done. With that being said, it is your job and duty to protect citizens of Paldea yet you did not come to a single meeeting." Ash was silent and Goodshow sighed and spoke. "That's excellent. I suppose it's all in history now, particularly since you are able to make amends by ensuring everyone has a good time at the tournament and in Glaseado City. After all, you have a lot of people to impress with this city... including myself."

The remainder of the meeting went off without incident. After a couple more hours, everything was called off.

Ash had something to discuss with Leon and so he whispered in his ear, "Meet me outside in five minutes. You know the place." After everyone left, Leon showed up at the forest clearing called "the view" of Lake Acuity where Ash was waiting for him. Leon teased him, "You really oughta visit more… especially since I keep covering your sorry ass."

Ash chuckled and replied, "Oh come on. It wasn't twelve times." Leon laughed and said, "You're right actually," with a smirk on his face. Ash grumbled and asked, "It would've been and should've been fifteen; care to tell me why you didn't say anything?"

Leon pretended to be clueless and asked, "About what?"

Ash and Leon were standing in a forest clearing with a view of Lake Acuity. Ash was confronting Leon about the fact that Paldea had been chosen to host the tournament without his knowledge.

"About how you lot already decided that Paldea would host the tournament? Care to explain why I wasn't informed?" Ash said sternly to Leon.

Leon leaned in close to him with a mischievous expression and whispered, "Well where's the fun in that?"

Ash pushed him away, clearly annoyed. "Cut it out. This is a serious thing I'm talking about Leon, anyone else I could give a free pass to because they wouldn't know any different. You're a different story Leon."

Leon laughed. "And I'm serious when I say I wanted to visit you and play a little joke on you. Plus, now at least the champions are at least familiar with you and don't have to give you an earful in your own region."

Ash opened his mouth to argue, but then realized that Leon actually had a point. It was better to argue without any prying eyes that might take an interest in his personal affairs. He let out a sigh. "That's perhaps the only thing you're right about; I still would've preferred a heads up."

Leon nodded in agreement. "Noted. Now, what's fresh?" he asked, changing the subject.

Ash shook his head, a small smile appearing on his face. "You always know how to change the subject, don't you?"

Leon raised an eyebrow in interest. "Yes, I do. Now, Team Snagem? Haven't heard that name in a while. They're still causing trouble?"

Ash nodded. "Yeah, unfortunately. They're less organized and dangerous than other teams, but they're still a nuisance."

Leon chuckled. "Well, at least you guys are keeping them in check."

Ash smiled, "Yeah, it's a team effort. We all have our roles to play."

Leon nodded in agreement. "And what about you, Ash? What's your role as Champion like these days?"

Ash sighed, "It's busy, as always. Between overseeing the construction of Glaseado City, defending the people, and being a leader to look up to, there's always something to do."

Leon nodded understandingly. "Yeah, I can imagine. But at least you're good at it, man. That's why they call you the Champion."

Ash grinned, "Thanks, Leon. I appreciate that."

Leon smiled back. "No problem, buddy. So, anything else new or exciting?"

Ash replied "Nothing new, really."

Three Weeks Later

The Tournament, which occurred every half decade, had spread like wildfire throughout the Pokémon world. Mr. Goodshow declared that every elite from every region, as well as the gym leaders who accompanied them, would be accepted into the tournament. The rewards were simple: a Master Ball, some money, and the title that every trainer desired: not a Pokémon Master... but a Pokémon Legend.

A Pokémon Legend was a trainer who went down in history to be among the best; someone who had unbreakable bonds with their Pokémon as well as the training and power to conquer all that stood in their way. They were trainers who fought for their planet with their last breath... sometimes literally. It was the title that nearly every trainer desired; the only question was how much someone was willing to give up to obtain it.

People were taken aback when it was revealed how many trainers would be accepted. How many people were there at such an event? Over 500, to be exact, 512. However, when additional numbers were considered, they were not as numerous as some people believed.

Over 250 people were eliminated after just one round of fighting. There were a total of 72 Gym Leaders, 32 Elites, and 9 Champions competing in the tournament, with the majority of them being heavily favoured. That alone created 113 contestants in an instant. It meant that only 400 people who weren't very high up the power chain could enter.

There were several ways to get in, including winning a league in the previous five years, which gave you a good chance at an invitation. You were almost guaranteed an invitation if you had a sponsor. There were other options, but many trainers felt that winning a league was the best way to go. The invitations were said to have been mailed just over a week before the tournament began. It was that time of year when everyone was waiting to see if they had made it in.

Misty stood atop the hill, the gentle breeze causing her hair to sway in the wind. The full moon was shining bright in the sky, casting an ethereal glow over the landscape below. She couldn't help but think about Ash, who was no longer with them. Memories of their adventures flooded her mind as she gazed up at the moon.

The thought of the upcoming tournament only added to her melancholy. As the Kanto Champion, she was eligible to enter, but the excitement of the competition was tinged with sadness. She wondered what it would have been like if Ash was still here, by her side, ready to take on the world together.

Misty took a deep breath, trying to push the memories and emotions aside. She knew that Ash would want her to compete, to give it her all, and make him proud. She closed her eyes and whispered, "I'll do it for you, Ash."

With renewed determination, Misty opened her eyes and gazed back up at the moon. The light seemed to be guiding her towards the future, urging her to take on whatever challenges lay ahead. She knew that she had to be strong, not just for herself but for all those who looked up to her as a champion.

Misty stood alone on the hill, lost in thought. She knew that the tournament would be tough, and that there were many powerful trainers out there who would be vying for the title of Pokémon Legend. But she was ready for the challenge. She had trained hard and had a deep bond with her Pokémon that she knew would carry her through the toughest battles.

As she looked out over the landscape, she felt a sense of calm wash over her. She knew that she wasn't truly alone. She had her Pokémon with her, and she had the memories of all the people she had met on her journey. Memories of Brock, who had always been there for her, and Ash, who had taught her to never give up on her dreams.

Misty smiled as she thought of all the people who had helped her along the way. She knew that they were all cheering her on, and that gave her the strength to keep going, even in the face of adversity.

She took a deep breath and raised her arms to the sky, feeling the wind rush past her. "I'm ready for anything," she said aloud. "I'll show everyone what it means to be a true Pokémon Legend!"

With a renewed sense of purpose, Misty turned and headed down the hill, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. She knew that the road ahead would be tough, but she was determined to make it to the top. And with her trusty Pokémon by her side, she knew that anything was possible.

Ash lay on his bed, his eyes fixed on the moon that shone through the window. The tournament was on his mind, and he couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. As the Paldea Champion, he knew that the expectations were high, and the competition would be fierce.

He had been training hard, pushing himself to the limit in preparation for the tournament. His team of Pokémon had been by his side throughout the entire journey, and he knew that they were ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.

Despite his confidence, there was a part of him that felt a bit unsure. What if he wasn't good enough? What if he didn't live up to everyone's expectations? These thoughts nagged at him, but he pushed them aside, reminding himself that he had come this far for a reason.

Ash sat up, his gaze still fixed on the moon. He took a deep breath, feeling a sense of calm wash over him. He knew that he couldn't let his doubts get the best of him. He had to stay focused and give it his all.

With renewed determination, Ash stood up from his bed and walked over to his desk. He picked up a photo of him and his Pokémon, smiling at the memories it brought back. He knew that they were more than just his team; they were his family.

"I won't let you down," he whispered to the photo, before placing it back on his desk. He walked over to his door and opened it, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Ash made his way to the balcony of his room, taking in the view of the city below. The bright lights and towering buildings seemed to mock him, reminding him of the pressure he was under as the Paldea Champion.

He shook his head, refusing to let the doubts and fears take hold of him. He had worked too hard to get where he was, and he wasn't about to give up now.

As he looked out over the city, he couldn't help but think about his friends and family back home. He wondered how they were doing and if they were cheering him on. He felt a pang of homesickness, but he knew that he had to focus on the present.

Taking a deep breath, Ash closed his eyes and focused on his breathing. He pictured his Pokémon team in his mind, imagining them by his side, ready to take on any challenge. He felt a sense of calm wash over him, and he knew that he was ready for the tournament.

He opened his eyes, feeling a renewed sense of confidence. He knew that the road ahead would be tough, but he was determined to come out on top.

With a smile on his face, Ash made his way back inside his room. He knew that he had his Pokémon by his side and the support of his friends and family back home. With that thought in mind, he knew that he could conquer anything that came his way. Ash then lay on his bed.

Ash's thoughts shifted as he lay on his bed, his mind now consumed with guilt and regret. He couldn't stop thinking about Misty, the girl he had left behind. He had betrayed her by kissing Serena and telling her that he loved her the day before his supposed death. Now, as he lay here alive, Misty had no idea of the truth.

Ash's heart felt heavy as he thought about the pain he had caused Misty. He knew that she had always cared for him deeply, and he had been blind to her feelings. He had been so caught up in his own struggles that he had failed to see the love that was right in front of him.

As he lay there, he realized that he needed to make things right with Misty. He couldn't keep living with the guilt of what he had done. He needed to tell her the truth and face the consequences of his actions.

But how could he face her after what he had done? Would she even want to see him again? These thoughts raced through Ash's mind, causing him to feel even more anxious.

He knew that he couldn't keep avoiding this issue, though. He had to take responsibility for his actions and try to make amends with Misty.

Ash felt that Misty might be happier if she felt he was dead than if she felt he was alive as he hurt her a lot. He also thought he did not deserve to be in her life after all the pain he caused to her.

Ash's mind was in turmoil as he grappled with his conflicting emotions. On the one hand, he knew that he had hurt Misty deeply, and he didn't want to cause her any more pain. On the other hand, he couldn't bear the thought of living with the guilt and shame of what he had done.

For a long time, he lay on his bed, lost in thought. Ash then slept on his bed.

Iris opened the letter with excitement and couldn't contain her joy as she read that she was invited to participate in the tournament. She immediately rushed to the Opelucid Gym to share the news with Cilan and Drayden.

As she entered the gym, she could see Drayden discussing something with Cilan. She ran towards them, waving the letter in her hand. "Cilan, Drayden, look!" she exclaimed. "I got the invitation to participate in the tournament!"

Cilan and Drayden both turned to look at Iris, with wide smiles on their faces. "That's amazing news, Iris," Cilan said. "I knew you had it in you."

Drayden nodded in agreement. "You have been training hard, and this invitation is a testament to your skills as a trainer," he said.

Iris beamed with pride at their words. "Thank you, guys," she said. "But I know that the competition will be tough. I need to train harder if I want to have a chance at winning."

Cilan and Drayden exchanged a knowing glance, understanding the determination in Iris's voice. "Don't worry, Iris," Cilan said. "We're here to help you in any way we can."

Drayden nodded. "Indeed. We'll do whatever it takes to ensure that you're ready for the tournament," he said.

Iris felt a surge of gratitude towards her mentors. "Thank you so much, guys. I couldn't have asked for better trainers," she said.

Cilan and Drayden smiled back at her, reassuring her that they were there for her every step of the way. With their support, Iris felt confident that she could take on any challenge that came her way.

Iris sat down next to Cilan and Drayden, eager to discuss her plans for training. "So, what's the first step?" she asked.

Cilan took out his notebook and pen. "Well, let's start by assessing your current strengths and weaknesses," he said. "That way, we can tailor your training to address any areas that need improvement."

Drayden nodded in agreement. "We'll also need to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of your potential opponents," he said. "That way, we can develop a strategy that will give you the best chance of success."

Iris nodded, impressed by their strategic approach. "Okay, that sounds like a good plan," she said. "But what about my Pokémon? Do you think they're ready for the tournament?"

Cilan smiled reassuringly. "Your Pokémon have come a long way, Iris. They have grown and developed alongside you, and I have no doubt that they'll be ready for whatever challenges come their way," he said.

Drayden nodded in agreement. "But we can always work on developing new techniques and strategies that will give them an edge," he said.

Iris felt a sense of relief knowing that her mentors had confidence in her and her Pokémon. "Thank you, guys. I know I couldn't do this without you," she said.

Cilan and Drayden exchanged a smile. "That's what we're here for, Iris," Cilan said. "We're a team, and we'll work together to help you achieve your goals."

Drayden nodded. "Indeed. And with hard work and determination, I have no doubt that you'll make us proud," he said.

Iris felt a sense of motivation wash over her as she realized that she had a team of supporters behind her. With their guidance and support, she knew that she could take on any challenge that came her way.
