(Y/N) likes Smokescreen, but an accidental discovery breaks her heart until someone unexamined comes to heal her broken heart.

(Y/N) likes Smokescreen, but every time she tries to spend time with him, Smokescreen refuses. She's not sure if this is like human men, clueless when a girl likes him. She kept trying even though she always felt her attempt would end, as usual, Smokescreen ignoring her. Even after the destruction of Darkmount, when Smokescreen got a new paint job and (Y/N) compliments him, Smokescreen ignores her. Smokescreen does that feel the same about (Y/N) but knows telling her will hurt her more than that he's ignoring her.

(Y/N) worries about Smokescreen as he, Bumblebee, and Optimus Prime go to an oil rig to find a predacon fossil. A fight with the cons can be dangerous, then add fighting by an oil rig. (Y/N) worries one of the Autobots will get hurt. Terrified if it's Smokescreen.

"Bee, you're a skilled scout; why aren't you promoted to warrior already?" Smokescreen asks Bee as they search for the predacon fossil. He's amazed Bee is patient and waiting until they can finally go home to Cybertron to be promoted.
"I can't believe how patient you are while I'm in a hurry to be a great leader," Smokescreen sulks.
Smokescreen didn't think Bumblebee would kiss him, and he knows Bumblebee wouldn't do such an action to shut him up. The two realize how much they like each other, but swear to keep it a secret for now.

The two thought they had a moment alone when they returned to the base, but (Y/N) seed them holding hands, and she's certain it's because they like each other. She runs down the hall, tears rolling down her face until she reaches a dead end, and she sits on the floor and cries.

Even though Smokescreen is in love with Bumblebee, he worries why (Y/N) hasn't tried to talk to him and seems to avoid him. He's happy (Y/N) can't go home at the moment.
"How would she know if we have told no one?" Smokescreen worries.
"She caught us while looking for you," Bee figures out.
The two mechs feel bad they broke (Y/N)'s heart more than fearing she's going to tell everyone they're together even if they're not ready to tell everyone.

A long month of battles pass, and the Autobots can finally go home. (Y/N) stays in the back of the main room as Ratchet tells everyone he's staying behind. She didn't know Bumblebee and Smokescreen's holoforms approached her or the others' confused faces.
"You'll find someone someday," Smokescreen tells her as he hugs her. Apparently, for too long for Bee's liking as they hear him clearing his throat. The two stop hugging, and (Y/N) sighs. She joins Bee and Smokescreen's hands.
"May you two be together forever," she says while trying not to cry.
The two mechs smile and kiss as tears roll down their faces now that everyone knows they're together, and the human the know they hurt wants them to be together forever.
Ratchet shields Jack, Miko, and Raf from seeing the kiss with his servo and arm. Bulkhead and Wheeljack are shocked and speechless. Ultra Magnus facepalms, but no one knows if he's disappointed or shielding his optics. Optimus smiles, having suspected these two got together while June passes out in Fowler's arms. Shocked transformers can even fall in love.

When the Autobots walked through the ground bridge, all the humans excluding (Y/N), talked about the new couple. Ratchet watches (Y/N) go to her room. He knows she's upset and needs space but worries she's thinking she's better off dead knowing how much she loved Smokescreen. He activates his holoform and goes to her room.
Ratchet knew he'd hear crying as he opened the door. He didn't think he'd see (Y/N) cutting herself.
Scrap, I think she was hoping Smokescreen would choose her, and since he didn't... Ratchet fears.
"(Y/N) stop!" He urges as he grabs her hand holding the small knife, happy that the same method he uses to get servos to open works with human hands. He puts the knife on the nightstand and hugs (Y/N) as she cries.
It's hard to know what to say. Is there even anything I can say? Ratchet wonders.
For now, (Y/N) is his patient.

It's a challenge to get (Y/N) to calm down. Once she's asleep, Ratchet leaves the room to ask the other kids to leave, but he only sees Jack.
"Would you believe Miko left without being told? I stayed to make sure (Y/N) is ok," Jack explains.
By Jack's voice at the end of his explanation, Ratchet could tell Jack worried he'd see Ratchet rushing (Y/N) to the medbay. Ratchet tells Jack (Y/N) is asleep but would like it if he and the other two don't come back for a while. He gives jack permission to call, knowing he is wouldn't call every hour just to talk like Miko and Raf would.
"I understand you have your hands full with a patient, and I'll tell them," Jack says and leaves.

Ratchet dreads (Y/N) basically shut down. Trying to get her to eat is a struggle, and she cries herself to sleep. He knows there are some things he can do but is hoping to hold off and also questions if it'd even be a good idea while trying to pull (Y/N) out of her depression.
Now's not the time, even if it might make her happy. Ratchet thinks as he watches (Y/N) sleep.

Two months pass before communication between Earth and Cybertron is established. While Bumblebee and Smokescreen couldn't be happier together, they've worried about (Y/N).
"We've seen how much you like her," Bumblebee argues, "show her how much you love her. I know it'll still take time for her to get out of her depression, but she thinks no one loves her."
"You can't deny it, Ratchet," Smokescreen adds.
The two mechs know Ratchet can't tell (Y/N) he loves her just yet, but there are other ways to show her that'll hopefully help her.

Ratchet carefully plans ways to take (Y/N) out of the base that can be considered dates even if she won't see it in her depressed state.

As he thought, (Y/N) thinks watching the stars on the roof of the base is an attempt to get her outside. Though she's not bothered by Ratchet holding her close, and Ratchet isn't sure what to think about this.
As long as this is helping with her mental health, I'm happy. Ratchet thinks.

Ratchet keeps this up for a few weeks, adding taking (Y/N) out for dinner. It's been almost four months since he saw (Y/N)'s smile.
He's been debating telling her how he feels. Questioning what's the worst that can happen?

Ratchet watches (Y/N) eat better than she has in four months; happy she's doing better, but it's clear she's still dealing with depression.
After dinner, Ratchet takes (Y/N) to the base's roof like he does every night. The only difference tonight is he's finally going to tell her.
"(Y/N), I—," he starts.
"You're tired of dealing with me."
"No, I love you. It's been hard watching how depressed you are. I knew you liked Smokescreen, and I want you to be happy even if I'm left with a broken spark. You remember how shocked everyone was that Bee and Smokescreen like each other. I didn't know."
Ratchet isn't sure what else to say. He knows it's unlikely (Y/N) feels the same way about him or that knowing he likes her will help her broken heart.
(Y/N) hugs Ratchet and cries. Ratchet can't tell if its happy tears or dreading that she will tell him she doesn't feel the same way.

Ratchet isn't sure what to think, waking up the next day in (Y/N)'s bed with (Y/N) using his chest as a pillow, even if the two aren't nude. He remembers (Y/N) asking him to stay until she's asleep, and he meant to leave once she was asleep.

(Y/N) wakes up smiling, which gets Ratchet to smile. He is certain (Y/N) doesn't romantically like him yet, but knowing she's loved has improved her mental state.
"Tell me, what are you thinking."
"I..."
"It's ok if you don't like me as I like you. Maybe you will someday, or we're friends. I don't care; I'll take care of you either way."

Ratchet updates Bumblebee and Smokescreen on (Y/N)'s mental health. The two mechs believe {Y/N) does like Ratchet, but she's still dealing with a broken heart.
"I think one day we'll be returning to Earth for a wedding, Bee," Smokescreen smiles.
He knows the girl who loves him is still heartbroken but happy she's getting better.
