Ling Shan swore that this town was ripped out of a fantasy novel or some video game. It was appearing odder by the minute, but it did explain Taeko's protectiveness toward the town. It was mostly untouched by Zuzu City's crime. Then again, most crime bosses would stay the hell away given the small size and the monsters crawling around the place.

Taeko was in his kitchen eating the breakfast Kyu cooked with his pets. Kyu's prize for the panty quest, which came early, was a VR headset that supposedly could take him to see different scenarios or paths he had not taken because reasons. He put the headset aside deciding not to use them at the moment. As for a secondary prize, he got 14 points each to spend on his pets. He had put all the jewels in the [Inventory] in storage. He did not wear his equipped armor at the moment except for his ring and kicks. He wore one of his grandfather's Japanese folding shirts and black training pants. Ensuring his weights were in place, he went out to the farm. He collected 2 [Green Beans], 3 jars of [Tulip Honey], and 2 jars of [Pine Tar]. He moved the tappers to maple trees as he wanted some maple syrup. He went back indoors to deal with the winery and jams. Gathering his haul of them, he put back in cherries and salmonberries. With his haul, he decided to check his mail.

Taeko smirked glad that he was well over a million. He moved on the texts on the phone to which he only found one from Woozie.

With this all done, Taeko was off into town. He shuffled along to the help wanted board as Lewis was putting up jobs.
"Morning, Taeko. Glad to see you're active." Lewis said kindly.
"Just wanted to get some things in the morning early. Then, relax at home." Taeko said firmly going up to board.
"Well, I'll leave you to it. Knowing you, you'll make a good gofer." Lewis said walking off.

Taeko accepted all the jobs and returned home to reorganize his [Inventory] and gather the needed items. First, was the Knights, and he arrived to find Abigail, Sam, and Sebastian chatting in the living room.
"Yo." Sebastian said as Taeko had a little grin.
"Yo, yourself." Taeko said looking over at him. "Sam, was it? I have to apologize a bit. Three weeks here, and I barely hung out with you or included you. Considering they're your friend, I should try to do so."
"Oh…well thanks. I mean we were still hanging out when they weren't with you, but it's nice of you to branch out." Sam said wistfully.
"Where's your mom? I got a delivery for her." Taeko said holding a jar of jelly. "It's my new product. Shadowy Desires Jelly. I also do pickles."
"[Jelly]? You make one with Azorium yet?" Sebastian asked.
"I did, but I'm not selling it. Saving it for myself." Taeko touted.
"Yo, mom! Taeko's here with that stuff you asked for!" Sam said as Jodi rushed out.
"Here you go! One farm fresh jelly." Taeko said, handing Jodi the jar. "Peach jelly, fine with you?"
"It'll go fine with the biscuits." Jodi said, handing the jar to Sam telling him to put it in the fridge. "How's farm life treating?"
"Its fine, but it feels less like a job and more a hobby. At least with how well I manage." Taeko said with a chuckle as Jodi paid him. "And one last time, figured I'd get you some [Pink Cake]."
The moment she saw that cake, it was ripped out of hands and eaten as if Jodi was denied food for a week. Sam, Abigail, and Sebastian all looked agape as Jodi blushed.
"Oh…I…it was really good!" Jodi said, trying to save face.

"Well, I should go. I got deliveries to make." Taeko said about to leave.
"Oh, Taeko. One thing, you should check out this new series. JPDE. It's like RWBY but better." Sebastian remarked.
"You had me at better than RWBY. If it's that good, I'll cancel my First subscription." Taeko said with a hint of sarcasm before leaving.

"Neat, but I need more health." Taeko thought before heading to the Mullner house.
"Yoohoo." Taeko said kindly as Alex whirled around. "Delivery for Alex."
Taeko produced the mushroom as Alex excitedly took them up thanking Taeko. He admitted that he was excitedly ready to try this new recipe for lunch.
"Pray it doesn't give me gas, boy." George said good-humoredly. "We don't need a repeat of last week."
"Oh Yoba, I did not need to smell the stench of…" Evelyn said before shuddering as Alex ponied up.
With that, Taeko went to the beach going on the docks to get to Ling Shan's yacht. What he found was Ling and Willy sharing a joke as they were fishing off the boat.
"Hey Ling." Taeko said coming abroad handing her the request slip. "I got your package."
Taeko handed her the two Wild Horseradishes, and Ling soundly paid while holding her fishing rod with her dainty feet. He noticed she wore the [Mint Tunic] which suited her rather well. Taeko got the money as she got a bite. Without missing a beat, she used her toes to reel in a halibut.
"Damn, my pappy would have liked you." Willy said impressed.
"He'd have good taste then." Taeko said as Ling was impressed that she even did that. "Either way, I have to go."
As Taeko left, Ling revealed to Willy why she asked for the items. It was to make spicy hot mustard to challenge Willy to a spicy fried fish contest.
"Bring it, lassie." Willy said with steeled eyes.
Taeko equipped the rest of his battle wear before effortlessly making ten [Green Slimes] to mere scorched stains on the grass as he went off to collect his pay from Myth.
"Thank you, Taeko. The valley is one step ahead of the feral beasts once again." Myth said handing Taeko his pay. "By the way, I can enchant your clothes for added defense. You know, but the price can vary."
Taeko tossed Myth his shoe asking if he boost the speed on them. Myth used his magic to scan them and noted he could boost them by 1 at the cost of 5,000.
"I can boost it further for more gold and a certain item." Myth said as Taeko tossed him the gold. "Consider it done!"
With a flash, Taeko's kicks were back on his feet glowing purple returning to normal.
"I'll send you a parcel or a text to explain how this works in full, just consider this a test run." Myth said with a wink as Taeko was out the door.
Back home, he tossed the Slimes (15 globs of the gunk) he got on him the selling bin, planted the garlic seeds, and crafted two [Tap Saplings] which he planted as well. With that done, he checked the time.
"Nine o'clock already." Taeko said to himself. "Well, let's get going to the desert and then the city."
His pets sat around lazing about as Taeko went in the garage to check on his wheels to see how he could upgrade his wheels.
"Bulletproof plating and windows? Let's see, 180K for the plating and 5K for the windows. Getting it." Taeko said putting money down to ensuring the G35 isn't going to get ruined by bullets.
He had changed the paint job, again, to dark green with a shiny Rayquaza on the hood and black streaks on the sides. With that, he sped off for the desert, texting his friends he was heading to the city and to keep an eye on things. It was easy to pick up a pair of coconuts before heading off to Zuzu City. Taeko did not dawdle making sure to get to Woozie's place.
On the elevator ride up, Taeko spent the stat points on his pets wishing he could find ways to get more health and energy added to him aside from Stardrops. Taeko arrived at the office noticing the music playing wasn't for Woozie, and was a bit more oriented for stuff to go on.

"You rang, Woozie?" Taeko said respectfully.
"Yes, I have a situation. I have investments in a few small businesses within this city. One of them was just attacked today. A small convenience store…that wasn't even a front. I simply knew the family who ran it while helping him financially when they needed it, and those Purple Dragons thugs attacked because they refused to pay protection money. Those so-called dragons kidnapped the family's oldest son for ransom. We have one of them captured, beat it out of him and go get her." Woozie said seriously as Taeko nodded. "Thank you. You will be taken to him."

Two triads showed him to the lone thug, a Latino male, who was restrained on the fence in the back alley. The two triads left him and the dragon alone.
"I'm surprised they let a black man in the triad. But I ain't telling you shit!" The purple dragon said in a shaky tone.
Taeko could have beaten him up for that but went on searching for him instead.
"Judging from his reaction, he's got something to hide." Taeko thought before finding a phone which was locked.
WHAM! Taeko spun kicked his jaw hard enough to get him to spit blood. The dragon, Thad, knew what Taeko wanted, but Taeko kept silent before grabbing Thad before ripping him from the restraints to throw him against the wall. Thad hit the ground only looking in absolute terror as Taeko moved on him slamming his feet on Thad's knee getting him to squeal in pain. Taeko simply got out Raikiri which sparked with electricity and aimed at Thad's balls.
"2007! That's the number, man! I swear!" Thad said Taeko tried the pin to see if it works. "Now maybe you could let me go."
FWHOOM! Taeko vaporized Thad with a simple energy blast giving him to be nothing but a grease smear on the wall. Taeko did not need to waste another second with Thad and used his phone to get some information. What he got was a treasure trove, locations of dumpsters with hidden goodies, drug locations, and so on. The game automatically added the dumpster locations to his own phone. Soon enough, he checked Thad's texts to learn that they were holding the son in an abandoned motel. The same motel that Taeko had to recuse Melanie from!
"Are these guys dumbasses?" Taeko asked himself as he was driving there.
He noticed on the mini-map he was nearing a dumpster of the Dragons and pulled over to check it out. A ruffling through it and he found a Pump Shotgun.
[Weapon – Pump Shotgun – Standard shotgun ideal for short-range combat. A high-projectile spread makes up for its lower accuracy at long range.]
He found it bizarre that he had an actual gun now but shrugged it before getting back in the car. He got to the motel and sensed out the area. The motel was rather burnt up but still standing. He checked the dumpster for anything and found three bags of weed.
[Drug – Marijuana – The drug most can agree is pretty harmless and can benefit your health if used correctly. Its value is ok, considering weed is semi-legal. Obviously, you can't sell it through normal means unless you got a license to sell it.]
"Eh, I'll give me to Sebastian. Thankfully, it's not laced." Taeko said before going in.
He wished he had taken his pets with him this time, but he stomached it as he made his way around. He sensed exactly four people to which the game said was three enemies and one ally which had to be the hostage. Taeko also sensed several more in the front parking lot. They were on the first floor which Taeko realized he could just sneak around back. Shifting around back, he found a window to the bathroom. A simple finger blast made it easy to open and sneak in. He settled to use the Protoplasm Cannon wanting to hit as many targets as he could. Readying himself, he kicked the door open and opened fire. The three gangsters were caught off-guard and two were shot. The third drove for the first one's gun only to get a plasma blast to the back. He united the hostage, Bai.
"You all right?" Taeko asked.
"Yeah, thanks for the save. But there are Purple Dragons out in the front." Bai warned.
"That's why I got in through a window. Listen, go out through that window. There's a car out there, get inside and lock the doors. That thing is completely bulletproof." Taeko said as Bai went out through the bathroom.
He noticed that on the ground floated items that three apparently had.
[Weapon – Pistol – Standard handgun. A .45 caliber combat pistol with a magazine capacity of 12 rounds that can be extended to 16.]
He took it up along with the magazines and even got 1300 gold off the bodies. Taking the second one and ignoring the knife, he sneakily slipped outside seeing a few Purple Dragons sitting in their cars. It's there he saw Kendra was there with her cronies.
"Oh great, those assholes." Taeko muttered.
"So….is anyone going to check on those three guys and our hostage?" Kendra asked.
"I hate to say it, but those guys have a case of death." Taeko said walking out with a manic grin. "It's really contagious."
[Battle BGM: Black Lagoon OST – Make a Bet]
He opened fire, starting a firefight diving behind an abandoned van for cover. He reloaded before jumping on the roof of the van and shooting down several more dragons. He did end up having to "eat" a few bullets before jumping back behind.

"I guess bullets don't hurt that much considering my training." Taeko thought as he ducked to as a shotgun bullet tore through the van door. "Shit!"
Swapping to the shotgun, he cocked it before poking out the side pulling off a headshot before moving to the side of the van. He spied one more coming and shot her dead leaving just Kendra and her gang triggering a cutscene.
[Music Ends]
Both had their guns drawn at each other, Kendra and Taeko glaring at each other, but sirens could be heard in the distance.
"We need to go! The pigs are coming." Angel said as Kendra's fingers were still on the trigger.
"You lucky the pigs are coming, or I'll pump you full of lead." Kendra said as Taeko pulled a simple flash step to suddenly appear behind her.
WHACK! He clubbed her with the broad side of his shotgun while glaring at Angel, Jeremy, and Jason.
"Now, you can take her and go or fight me and risk dyin'." Taeko asked coldly.
"We'll go." Angel said dragging Kendra's body. "Cops are closin' in."
"But Kendra's going to be pissed." Jeremy whined.
"Better her pissed than in jail." Angel said as Taeko fled the scene.
The cutscene ended with Kendra's gang gone and Taeko speeding for his car. He got in noticing he had two stars on his status.
"You all right?" Bai asked worriedly.
"Yeah, but the cops are going to be after me." Taeko said starting the engine and pulling out of there. "We need to hide out. But is there anywhere I can drop you?"
"Little Asia. There's an ice cream shop ran by my uncle; think you could drop me there?" Bai asked as Taeko nodded.
Taeko made a mental note to get a map and actually explore this city in the future because he was realizing he barely knew this city for the time he lived it. Taeko followed the marker his in-game map give him dodging cops even getting one to spin out and hit a fire hydrant. In a few minutes, he pulled up to the shop and Bai rushed out.
"Thank you once again for saving me. I didn't get your name." Bai said gratefully.
"Don't worry about it. Just tell your folks that Woozie sent me to help." Taeko said revving.
"I didn't know there were blacks in the Triad." Bai said in confusion.
"Never said I was one. I'm independent." Taeko said taking off.
Losing the cops was a pain, but Taeko found the game at least gave him means to lose the wanted rating with the glowing police stars and a literal 'Pay 'n' Spray' in the form of Zuzu Customs. Managing to get his wheels in there, he got the car resprayed to red with a Groudon decal before getting to wheel it out.
"Wanted meter's down." Taeko said relived. "Now to report back to Woozie."

He returned to Woozie's place to a relived Woozie.
"Thank you, Taeko. The Chen family can rest easy knowing their son is safe." Woozie said earnestly. "As promised, your pay."

As Taeko was paid, one of Woozie's lieutenants let Taeko know of some valuable information. Apparently, there is a former Joja Tech who builds armor similar to gear Taeko has on him.
"You didn't think we'd notice? We thought that guy was a kook, but it seems he was the real deal after all." Woozie remarked heartily.
They were all under the assumption that Taeko got the armor from this tech, and Taeko rolled along with it.
[Zuzu City BGM: Grand Theft Auto Advance OST – L.E.D]
As Taeko left, he knew he had to find this guy as having a source to buy gear sounded like a dream come true. According to the game, it had led him into East Hardwood. He knew this place at least; it was basically where the young adults go to have a drink and party. Low crime rate except for prostitution. Taeko sighed remembering how he used to yearn to live here instead of the apartment he had back then.
"Ugh, I nearly became one of the desperate fakers trying to break into the entertainment industry." Taeko said shaking his head before the game map guiding him to his destination.
He immediately recognized the tech in question who was arguing with an older woman. A bit of a good work friend, but Taeko had seen him seen the return from Souamil. He still looked the same, tall, white, and nerdy. Even still wore his lab coat with chemical burns on the ends.
"Yo. Xander." Taeko said rolling his windows down.
"Taeko?" Xander said stunned. "You're alive?! I think you died on that trip…"
"It's a long story, but you look like you're in a bit of a situation." Taeko said pointing to the woman.
"Ugh, it's my landlord. She wants to sell the place, and I'll be screwed out of my business and home." Xander said.
"How much to buy the property?" Taeko said to the older lady.
"Thirty-tho…"
Taeko cut her saying he would buy it, and he promptly paid for the property. Afterwards, Xander showed him around the store, XanTech, as they caught up.
"Damn, I'm sorry I wasn't there. You see, I quit, in protest when they refused to go help you. I took what I did and started a business here repairing PCs, selling parts, or whatever. I was also working on FusionFall replicas of clothes and weapons. Surprise you got your hands on them…but I can't believe it. Infected monsters? What was Joja thinking?" Xander remarked.
"I don't know, but I need to know if you'll have my back on this." Taeko remarked.
"Of course, you own the building. I'll make sure to wire the rent check into your bank account or would you prefer it mailed." Xander asked.
"Mail it. I'll have to set things up for a wiring, so mail it for now. I'd be willing to slash a hundred off the rent in exchange for a 5% discount." Taeko mused.
"Consider it done. If you invest in the shop, I can work to get better stock and items." Xander said as the game give him options on how to upgrade the shop.
"Here. 250,000 Gold." Taeko said putting the money on the counter. "To investing in our business."

"Damn, that farm must be a real money maker." Xander said impressed.
"Well…that and having wealthy parents. That money was my mom's little gift to me, but its better it's put to use here." Taeko said with a wistful smile.
"You can also bring stuff to sell to me. Any weaponry you find, I could give you a good price for it." Xander mused. "Also got a website for you to order stuff. I even build some of the FusionFall vehicles."
Taeko took a look at the stock available, and he had plenty of things. Some of the FusionFall gear from Level 4 and below to which Taeko knew he had to put more money into upgrading the store to get more in stock. Regardless, he picked out a few things.

"Total comes up to about 15,550 Gold." Xander said as Taeko paid up. "Thanks for you patronage."
"No issue at all." Taeko said taking his new items and receiving a capsule with the hovercar. "Finally got that capsule tech down."
"Joja never did get that project I told them to fund. Didn't even know what it was for!" Xander said with a laugh.
"I'm out. Later, Xander." Taeko said leaving for home.
Xander was back in his contacts and Taeko was feeling he got a lot done as he returned home. First thing was finding Leah. He walked in on her as she walked out the shower with a towel…only on her head. Not like it was a big deal all considered.
"Leah, I got a gift for you." Taeko said excitedly. "It's outside. Remember that hovercar I got?"
"Yeah." Leah said, getting dressed.
"I found a store that sells FusionFall stuff. Remember Xander?" Taeko remarked as Leah perked up.
"Yeah, you mentioned in passing why?" Leah said as he led her outside to her new wheels. "You got me a hovercar?! Taeko, thank you! Considering the bus is out of service, I can now go to town with ease."
Taeko tossed her the keys saying do not worry about the price tag before leaving to find Sebastian. He came to the Grant home to see him and Abigail sparring a bit.
"Yo, I got some news for you! I found a shop that sells FusionFall gear." Taeko said as Abigail turned excitedly only to get accidentally punched by Sebastian. "Ouch."
"Damn it, Seb." Abigail said punching Seb's face.
"He's a former JojaTech, and an old friend of mine of mine. Owns the shop in East Hardwood, which I own the building. No, you are getting free stuff. He needs a profit, and I'm paying mostly full price. Either way, I got you the rest of the set Seb." Taeko said handing Seb the rest of the Digital Set.
Sebastian rushed to put it on and came out feeling rather confident. Taeko explained that there is supposed to be some kind of special effect when the set is brought together.
"So, up for training?" Abigail asked.
"I got time before lunch. Meet me at the farm, I got one thing to do." Taeko said walking up the path to the mountain.
He did not have to go far up to find Linus.
"Ah, Taeko. You've been a busy man. I heard you're apparently formed a vigilante group and are now making wine. You've progressed well." Linus said as Takeo gave him the Viking Helmet. "For me?"
"You're already dressed the part of ancient warrior, and anything to give you protection will help you." Taeko said before walking away. "I owe you that."
Taeko returned to the farm to train with Abigail and Sebastian. Both were showing promise with energy attacks and as Abigail and Taeko sparred, he recounted his dealing with Woozie.
"Wait, you found good bags of weed in the Triad dumpster?" Sebastian asked.
"Yeah, and I can't sell it normally. Unless, I got a weed license. At least that chud I had to kill off had a phone with information on that. I seriously don't want to deal in peddling coke and shit. But if I game the system, I got at least hoard a ton of weed." Taeko remarked.
"Just be careful." Abigail said worriedly. "Drug game is never easy."
"I know, but I knew the two rules. Never underestimate the greed, and don't get high on your supply. Seeing I got no intent on using heroin, downers, or ecstasy. That will be easy." Taeko said firmly.
"Side note, you got actual guns now. How did it feel?" Abigail asked.
"Weird, it felt a lot more intense. It was pretty awesome to dual wield, though." Taeko remarked. "But I'll save the guns for the city."
"So…you want to light up a few joints?" Sebastian asked as Taeko caught Abigail's fist flipping her over.
"Let us at least have lunch first, man. And I'm cooking." Taeko said walking for the kitchen. "Who wants chicken and fries?"
Taeko had in the kitchen getting two of the frozen chickens out and got to cooking. Washing it and prepping it, he used oil, flour, and spring onions for flavor to fry the chopped-up chicken before getting to the fries. In the end, he had two new custom recipes.

Well…custom in that they were not in the "base game". Taeko served up lunch to everyone as they all ate while watching JPDE. It was then that the pot was smoked.
"Holy shit. Daisuke di Kagebis…is basically a much more justified version of Jaune. Kinda hotter too." Abigail said taking a drag.
"Eh, I can see it. But this art style looks really good. It seems they're going for a 2D anime style, and it freaking works. Rather have a solid 2D style than janky 3D." Taeko said as Sebastian shrugged.
"The fight with the Wa-Lang was pretty intense." Sebastian said pleased.
They sat to watch the first few episodes and Taeko was completely hooked. Sebastian and Abigail did have to leave, which left Taeko alone.
"Oh shit, the coconuts." Taeko remarked springing up and out the door.
Tom decided to follow this time as Logan stayed to gnaw on some salmonberries he found. Taeko found him on the beach staring out into the sky.
"Mr. Von Holton." Taeko said candidly. "It's been a while…I'm sorry I've never made time."
"Quite all right, Taeko. You've led an interesting life here in the valley. You seem to be living the life of a manga protagonist. It's honestly quite intriguing. You would make for a great study to write about." Elliot said dramatically facing him.
Taeko had to admit, that hair was perfect for him.
"Well, I do have a few stories to tell, but I'm here on business to deliver your coconuts. I got my own wheels to get in and out of the valley." Taeko said producing them.
"Oh, that's wonderful, but that request was rather old. But I'll take them because I'll be having coconut shrimp today. I'll invite Wily and that newcomer for dinner. Quite the oriental lady of war." Elliot said mirthfully.
The two had chatted a bit about books as Elliot was getting Taeko's payment. Sure, Elliot and Taeko were not exactly people who would hang out together, but they had a taste for literature. Taeko got his pay and Elliot before going on his way.

"So, you want to get into monster hunting?" Lewis said wryly. "Well, I can help. Considering the guild has been active, we can get all the help we can get. You should visit the Adventurer's Guild."
"I have, but because I'm a new resident. They wanted me to fill…paperwork." Ling said with a sigh.
"Oh right, you're a resident with long-term standing. I'll get you the forms." Lewis said as Ling growled. "Trust me, paperwork is a shared pain."
As for the farmer swordsman, he hunted for the berries all over the forest exploiting his perks to get more along the usual forage. He even went able chopping several trees and pickaxing several rocks. Before long, he found San in the Secret Woods in the midst of pleasuring herself almost as she was in a heat. San locked eyes for a second before jumping up and running away. Taeko shrugged before returning to the farm.

He went inside getting out his two [Iridium Bars] to shove into storage for later along with the stone and coal he got. He crafted himself a [Charcoal Kiln] to put outside on the porch.
"Ok, I may as well try the headset." Taeko said munching on a few cookies as he knew to his room.
Putting on the headset, he felt himself vanish from the farmhouse and he floated in a black void that he could see considering the headset vanished off his face once he got it on.

"Of course." Taeko said taking a cup downing the tea.
"Feel free to visit this room to relax, but just don't let me catch you fooling around with Abby in here." Caroline said teasing. "Oh, come now, you do see her as attractive, no? I do feel your eyes looking at me just a bit. It's quite refreshing to have such a virile young man sizing me up."
Taeko was red-faced, but Caroline had a wicked grin on her face, backing Taeko into a corner.
"It's rather pleasing that I still got it, but I wonder if your thoughts or on me or Abigail." Caroline said groping Taeko's crotch. "Do I have your attention?"
"Yes." Taeko breathed out.
"Good, while I won't get in the way of you and Abigail. I can't have her go all the way…no not yet." Caroline said rubbing her hand on his clothed length. "Understand?"
"Yes." Taeko squeaked out as Caroline let go.

Taeko was a mess as he realized that Caroline made jelly out of him.
Back in the void, once again, and Taeko was breathing hard. Seeing what Caroline could have scared him more than getting the condoms. But he moved to the others. There was not much, but he decided to quit. He found him back in reality on his couch with the headset in his hand which he put away.

"I need to get out of here. Maybe I'll go fishing." Taeko thought, putting some things away before making the bait.
Taeko stumbled out with Logan and Tom following along. He decided that it was best up at the Mountain Lake. When he arrived, Marlon was there with Ling Shan.
"Damn it." Taeko thought as he was called over.
"Taeko, is it true that you know her?" Marlon asked.
"Yeah, that's Ling Shan. We met in the city. If this is about getting her a license to join the guild, I'm all for it. As long as she doesn't go pass me in floors considering you know…" Taeko said as Marlon caught on.
"Yes, of course. Well then, I see no reason not to welcome her. There's still the initiation test." Marlon said as Taeko sighed.
"I'll deal with her after I get some fishi-Actually, I could fish in the cave's lake." Taeko said as Marlon tossed Ling a [Silver Saber].
"Well then, I'll leave you to it!" Marlon said before bidding them goodbye.
"Why would I need a sword? Can't I just shoot a monster?" Ling asked.
"Yes, and no. For one, I don't think you could shoot Slimes because regular bullets would zip through it. And considering the enemies seem to come out of Final Fantasy, I'm pretty sure there are ghosts that could shrug off bullets." Taeko mused. "Come on."
Ling followed as Taeko took her to Floor 2.
[Floor 2]
Slimes scattered about, and Ling was mortified.
"The result of pollution and mutation." Taeko said as one lunged at him. "Excuse me, Ling!"
SLING! Taeko slashed through it with Raikiri with slime as it left behind an Amethyst.
"Did that thing just left shit behind?" Ling asked as Taeko took it up.
"Yup, all the monsters due whether it being what they ate plus there are nodes with precious stones in that." Taeko explained. "But let's see you in action."
Ling was no one trick pony, and she showed it by effortlessly slicing through several slimes. Taeko had taken the globs of the slime left behind leaving Ling with the rest. Taeko slowly introduced her to the different beasts. Ling was just glad to open fire on monsters.
"Ling, duck!" Taeko said pulling out his pistols and shooting down a pair of Cave Flies.
"Thanks." Ling said putting her Uzi back in her holster. "I didn't peg you for firearms."
"Yeah, I jacked them from a pair of Purple Dragon thugs. I prefer my other weapons though." Taeko said.
[Floor 4]
Two floors of fighting later, Taeko was ready to grade Ling's progress. Ling was looking at the loot she got in disbelief and pride.
"If I knew there was a society of monster hunters, I almost wouldn't be a Triad girl." Ling said excitedly. "This was fun. How's Sebastian like down here?"
"Capable." Taeko mused before spraying a CRATE. "Well, well, seems we found something."
He kicked it open to reveal a pair of pants.

Taeko and Ling exited the mines to report to the guild where he said that Ling passed with flying colors. Ling got her license and Taeko got to find his time fishing on the dock near the beach's tidal pool. The evening sky set in as Taeko fished. He got a bite and focused on reeling it in. The "minigame" was a pain, but he got it reeling in a [Flounder].

"Hmm…" Taeko said putting his catch aside. "I wonder…"
Taeko got out a cherry bomb using a spark of energy to light it up before dropping it into the water. BOOM! The explosion rumbled the ocean as a few sardines hit the dock, about three along with several chunks of seaweed. Logan came up out of the water with an anchovy in his ocean. He came to shore only for Tom to snatch it away to eat.
"Tom, I know you are a hungry little scamp, but that was Logan's. Here boy." Taeko said throwing Logan a Sardine.
"Maybe I should fish at the desert lake. I could fish there." Taeko thought, leaving for home. "Besides, I should answer Manny's text."
Taeko returned home to off-load. He got the [Soda Drink Hat] in his closet and put everything that was in his [Inventory] away except for his weapons and bait. He needed to organize for tonight. He fluffed his jacket and readied himself. He went to the kitchen trying his hand at cooking a [Maki Roll]. He used the halibut and a sardine to make two sets of Maki Rolls.
"Ok, I'll take a few colas, two bottles of [Cherry Wine], a bag of weed, and a [Diamond] for luck." Taeko said gathering those items into his [Inventory].
He left his pets behind and zipped up his jacket covering his armor. He came out leaving Logan and Tom behind before getting to his car. He made a mental note to go cruising in his hovercar another day before getting in his G35 ensuring it had its rightfully paintjob with Rayquaza as a decal before speeding off for the desert. Once there, he pulled on the side before noticing a setup across the street. A fenced area with a camel, several plants in jars, a rather big tent, and a van with a trailer assuredly for the camel. He walked up slightly curious as he heard soft music play.

As Taeko came up, someone came up greeting was admittedly a bit taken aback by her because she looked familiar. She was rather tall (having an inch and a half over him) with very long black hair spilling out of her green turban that extended down to her behind. Her eyes were fuchsia, she was rather thin, and rather buxom. She even wore the...at that point, Taeko just used [Observe] to confirm it.
[Desert Trader – Beli – Beli Anand, the Desert Trader, is a wandering trader who scoured many deserts across the world amassing decent wealth in doing so. She's a nature loving yogi at heart. She's very trusting and submissive; making her a pushover to which led to the event of her slumming it here. She's an approval-seeker and feels the need for people to like her. She fears inadequacy and is always afraid that she's doing something wrong. She has a poor body image and is upset about her eating habits but seems too weak to change. Her likes center around nature, junk food (She's weak in the knees for it), and wine.]
Kyu had to throw this in for shits and giggles, and fear of relationship meant there was something up.
"Ah, welcome. I am Beli, a humble desert trader, and welcome to my shop, Rahasaya." Beli said nervously with a bow.
"Yeah…thanks. I'm Taeko, from the town over." Taeko said as Beli lit up to have a customer. "So, what do you deal?"
"I run a trading post, an item for an item. I also hold yoga classes out in the desert here and sell coconut and cactus fruit shakes. I just opened this afternoon…and business has been rather dry." Beli said nervously.
"Good reason, the bus service that runs in my town is down because the bus is damaged and in need of repair." Taeko mused as Beli looked heartbroken. "Only the few who have cars come out of town."
"Please, then. I could maybe use your help." Beli asked.
"I can't really deny someone in need of help." Taeko said kindly. "But what do I get out of this?"
"I'd be your debt and I could cut you in on five percent of the profits." Beli remarked.
Taeko decided to use what he learned about her to his advantage.
"Beli, dear, I happen to run the Shadow Syndicate. A company that builds on agriculture, monster loot, mining, and so on. All run by it's Shadow Yakuza, to which you speak to its kumicho. I'll help you, Beli. But I have conditions, ally yourself with us, ten percent of the profit every two days, and you in my services, of course." Taeko said firmly and confidently.
Beli shivered admiring the backbone and strength he had in his words.
"Ok, I'll settle for that if you succeed." Beli said, trying to show a bit of firmness.

Taeko hit accept and spent a little time with Beli as he fished. He mostly reeled in [Sandfish] with only one [Scorpion Carp].

He selected the [Fisher] perk as it easily made for increasing profits easier, and it would encourage him to fish more often. Taeko let Beli have the Sandfish as a bit of a gift before leaving for the city. He called Woozie up to ask for a favor.
"Let me get this straight, you want to get ownership of bus service that's been long dead. Well, if it's what you want, I can do some digging. Seems this one was independent, and it's owned by an older fellow." Woozie said before giving the address.
"Thanks, Woozie." Taeko remarked before hanging up and speeding off for South Zuzu.
South Zuzu, a somewhat economically depressed, predominantly African American area of the city, characterized by street gangs and low-income housing projects. Well, it was not that bad, but Taeko thanked his fortune he did not have exactly live in the area. It was okay if you lived there, but not so good if you are an outsider. According to the address Woozie gave him, this guy lived in the neighborhood of Boysenberry.
"Someone was high naming this place." Taeko said as he drove in before pulling up to a house. "And we're…here."
People were moving stuff out of the house, and Taeko got out to ask about. Apparently, the old man who Taeko had sought out had died, heart attack took him out, and the family was packing up the things for storage.
"If it's alright, I came to buy something off him. It was the contract behind the Stardew Valley bus services." Taeko said earnestly.
"Wait, the one that runs to and from that hick town?" The matriarch asked. "Why would you want that?"
"I happen to live there running my grandfather's farm." Taeko remarked.
"Wait…you're…well, if you're his grandson, I'll sell it to you. A quarter million, flat."
"Fine. I'll pay it." Taeko said not even flinching at the price.
The family happily gave the contract up for the cash seeking to use the cash for the funeral, and Taeko promptly left cackling with glee. He owed Woozie plenty and he raced for East Zuzu, the Hispanic side of town. Finding Manny's tattoo parlor was not too bad, and he walked in.
"Excuse me, Manny, right?" Taeko remarked. "Called a man about a race?"
"So, you're the guy people be talking about?" Manny said with a smirk. "Heard you were in a fight with the Purple Dragons."
Taeko raised an eyebrow.
"Don't worry, my padre. Purple Dragons don't come around this area too much, they scattered." Manny mused, eyeing his wheels. "I see you got some decent wheels. I was about to close up early. My buddies about to start this up."
As Manny and Taeko left the now closed shop, Taeko could not help but think he looked so much like Manny from Def Jam. He shrugged it off and followed Manny's car…back to Boysenberry. He was shown to Cooper Customs, a garage, run by Ryan and Karol Cooper. A pair of former professional racers that host street races. Taeko noticed several rides and one familiar one that made him facepalm.
He got out of his car to see Kendra.
"Ok, what the fuck is this busta doing here?" Kendra said coming off the hood of her car. "This is invite only."
"But I was invited." Taeko snarked. "Besides, last time I checked, you're just a hood for the Dragons. You're no lieutenant."
Murmurs among the crowd along with a few chuckles.
"Yeah, well, who the hell you run with?" Kendra said only to get Taeko's back to her.
"I am my own boss, the kumicho of the Shadow Yakuza." Taeko said wistfully. "To which I am above your petty shit."
Kendra pulled her piece and fired only to Taeko to whirl around slicing through the bullet with Eclipse. As the halves hit the ground, Kendra's posse was agape. The other racers wished they had recorded, and Manny was laughing.
"All right, that's enough. We're here to race." Ryan said coming out of the garage. "Who's ready?"
Taeko sheathed his blade making introductions as Manny explained who Taeko was.
"So, you came recommended from him? Well then, that's good enough for me." Ryan said as he showed everyone the racecourse for tonight.
[Race 1 – Shift Work]
The race goes from the garage to around Jabbar Hills twice. Follow the course and came in first. Races will usually have an entrance fee to enter. Some will also take it betting of items of value. Be sure you got the wheels to square up!
Taeko was given a flash drive to stick into his car which Ryan explained it was to give his car's GPS a layout and to mark his place. Taeko plugged it as Karol made the collections for entry fees and what was being wagered.
"Entry fee is 100 Gold, betting's optional, gecko." Karol said to him as Taeko paid the entry fee.
As for the betting, Taeko noticed the bets were being stored in a lunchbox and he noticed, among the cash, a pink slip with Kendra's name on it. Immediately, he got out a Diamond and the bag of weed to wager.
"Well that do, Mrs?" Taeko asked as Karol looked caught off-guard.
"You just carry around jewels like dollars?" Karol asked.
"Nah, first time I carried one like that though." Taeko remarked. "Isn't going to be too much of an issue if I lose it?"
"Well good luck kid." Karol said as Taeko got into position.
He was going up against an Audi A3 3.2 quattro, a Honda Civic, and Kendra's Gen 5 Ford Mustang GT which Taeko determined as the real threat. They all revved their engines as Angel got in the center.
"Ready….GO!" Angel said as the drivers took off.
[Race BGM: The Faint – Dropkick the Punks]
Taeko let his acceleration do the talking to get up to speed zooming past the Audi. The flash drive had also given way to a communication channel between the four racers. The Audi driver was a spicy Latina with a ton of bite, the Civic driver rapped his words, and Kendra was all for taunting the other drivers.
Taeko stayed silent as he drifted to the first corner cutting past the Civic and catching up to Kendra.
"C'mon, punk bitch! You think you could you get in front of me?!" Kendra said moving to keep her car in front of Taeko. "I doubt it!"
As they were barreling down to the first intersection, the Audi driver flipped her nitrous switch zipping past everyone to take the lead.
"¡Pueden besarme el culo sudoroso!" The Audi driver said leaving behind dust.
"I'm not losing to some DACA-sucking leech!" Kendra said shifting gears to pursue her.
"Gran charla proveniente de un abandono!" The Audi driver jeered, flipping her middle finger out the window.
"Ah yo, don't ignore me!" The Civic driver said as Taeko sighed.
With the Audi driver beefing with Kendra, Taeko focused on the road taking the next turn. He pushed his car to go faster taking advantage that it was all straight for a while. Long enough for Taeko to powerslide the next turn taking the lead.
"¡Mierda!/SHIT!" The Audi driver and Kendra said as Taeko was leaving them behind.
To add insult to injury, the Civic passed them as well. Taeko had been glad to get to the main road even if it was for a short part of the race, and he was now neck and neck with the Civic.
"Aw yeah, yeah, yeah!" The Civic rapper sang before hitting the nitrous to take off.
He was now the first to complete the first lap with the others not to be far behind. Now with the first over, Taeko promptly took things a lot more seriously and pulled ahead.
"I am not losing to this punk motherfucker!" Kendra snarled getting her sidearm. "Let's see you drive with a bullet in the back of your head!"
She opened fire on his car unaware his car was bulletproof, and Taeko was blissfully unaware of her shooting at him. The first bullet dinged off his car and hit the Civic's tire causing a crash into a mailbox. The second bullet dinged off dinged off Taeko's window and struck through the Latina's hitting her shoulder.
"¡Estúpido idiota! ¡Su auto es a prueba de balas! ¡Deja de dispararle!" The Audi driver screeched.
Taeko had the communication line muted already and took a breath. He munched down a [Maki Roll] and drink a can of cola before pushing on ahead. What he had realized was the driver of the Audi was too busy fighting with Kendra. He just focused on the road before unleashing his nitrous as he drifted though tight corners. Soon, came the home stretch. He turned back on the channel to hear a rapid fire of Spanish swears and he turned it back off.
"Yeesh." Taeko thought before crossing the finish line drifting to a stop.

Taeko got out his car as Manny came up fist-bumping him.
"That was badass. Surprised you got your ride bulletproofed….worked out like a charm." Manny said pointing to the dings in the metal.
"What the hell? Who sho…Kendra!" Taeko snarled. "That cheating bitch!"
"I wouldn't worry about that. She pissed off the other drivers." Karol said revealing she was listening in on the comm lines.
Kendra and the Audi driver crossed the finish line with the Audi driver having to lug his ride back to the garage not completing the lap. Kendra came out hers ready to come to blows with the other driver only for Angel to get in between them.
"Kendra, cut it out! The race is over!" Angel said as Kendra put her gun away.
"Whatever, I'm pretty sure I blew past you, Lupe. Who I'll be taking my winnings." Kendra said smugly.
"I don't think so." Karol said firmly. "You broke the rules. No usage of firearms during the race. You are disqualified. Thus, Mariposa is 2nd place and Drae is 3rd."
"But what about my ride?" Drae said saddened.
"I'll repair it, free of charge." Ryan said firmly.
