Optimus is married and has a baby but still stays behind as the Deceptions attack the base. (Y/N) hopes there will be good news as the team reunites and attacks Darkmount.
"Go with Ratchet!" Optimus demands
"No, I'm not you anywhere without you!" (Y/N) argues.
Ratchet, who is already holding the arguing couple's baby in the car seat, grabs (Y/N) and runs through the ground bridge, knowing there's going to be arguing.
The ground bridge took the two to another town. They didn't have to walk far to find an abandoned house. (Y/N) says nothing as she takes the baby car seat and goes into the house.
I hope you know what you're doing, Prime. Ratchet thinks before thinking about the possibility he'll have to tell (Y/N) that Optimus is dead.
(Y/N) sits on the bed in one of the bedrooms, feeding the baby, thinking the three-month-old might not know their father.
"I knew this was risky, but I didn't think I'd be losing my husband this soon."
Ratchet tries to help (Y/N), hoping she doesn't neglect her child. He hides he has no hope until Raf confronts him outside of the house three days later.
"It's over, Raf! We lost our leader, and (Y/N) lost her husband."You don't know that!" Raf argues before getting back into Bumblebee's alt mode, and Bee drives off.
Ratchet tells (Y/N) they need to go somewhere else before the cons find them. Little does she know Ratchet suspects Bumblebee and Raf are trying to use an old Decepticon ship into a functional base.
She will not be happy until she knows Prime is ok, but hopefully, seeing friends will cheer her up a little. Ratchet hopes.
"... I'm sorry, we haven't seen him," Raf regrets telling (Y/N) while holding the baby.
No doubt the cons blew up the base, and he made sure everyone else escaped. (Y/N) thinks as she runs outside to cry.
The others know there's nothing they can do but leave her alone...
... Until a Cybertronian ship descends close to the makeshift base. Ratchet rushes to protect (Y/N) while Bee protects Raf and the baby. To everyone's surprise, it's most of the mission missing team and a newcomer.
Ratchet explains to Raf and (Y/N) that Ultra Magnus is a strict commander — who gets right to expressing his disgust for Prime having sparklings l with an Earthling.
Wheeljack didn't care if he was disrespectful; he argues the commander is showing disrespect. The arguing turns into planning before Fowler and June arrive. They tried to avoid the subject but told everyone they watched the base go down, and no one walked out of the wreck. (Y/N) holds her baby close, hoping Prime is ok. She wants to fight Megatron for killing her husband but knows she's risking her baby losing both parents. Ratchet and the humans try to support (Y/N).
A half-hour passes before Ultra Magnus gives Fowler the go ahead to attack Darkmount. Though the place is destroyed, the Decepticons retreated.
"Ugh, I missed the action," Smokescreen sulks as he looks at the destruction, "and I have to give bad news. This wasn't how my decision to save you was supposed to go."
"We kicked Decepticon butt!" Miko cheers, "dude, what's with you?" She asks, seeing Smokescreen not celebrating.
"I...," Smokescreen sighs, "I couldn't save him. He made me promise to take care of (Y/N) and the baby."
"No," (Y/N) cries and holds her baby close as tears roll down her face.
"Then I take it you are now a Prime?" Ratchet asks.
"I never wanted it to happen this way. I don't want to be a leader or a Prime if it means I watch (Y/N) hurt and the baby grow up without their father."
Smokescreen didn't think the others would be supportive, even Ultra Magnus, who said he'd keep his second-in-command position.
"I... uh...," Smokescreen isn't sure what to say to (Y/N).
"I know you did what you could. Optimus wouldn't choose you to protect his child if he didn't think you could," (Y/N) assures him.
Smokescreen knows Optimus expects him to help take care of his child and protect his family, but he also knows it'll feel strange for a while.
