Okay, readers. After a little bit of writing, I have finally published the seventh chapter of this story.
Now, this chapter is going to showcase a massive game-changer and will signal the start of many changes that'll take hold by the time this story is over. And it all will start with Jake's prank that he pulls on Adam, and it'll go downhill from there.
With that said, this will be where a lot of drama will surface, Adam's reaction to the prank will be revealed, and he will tell Jake off. How will Adam feel about this? What are the consequences that Jake will suffer because of it? What will Adam have to say to him away from the others? What will the result be? And is there anything else that'll end up happening? Read and find out now!
IN GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA - 7:00 A.M.
It was a brand new day in Glendale. And at Adam's house, his alarm clock went off, indicating that it was 7 a.m. Which meant it was time for him to get up and get ready for another lousy day at school.
Upon hearing it, Adam turned off his alarm, sat up in his bed, and stretched and yawned. He 'really' didn't want to be up today. But since it was a school day, he didn't have any other choice.
Welp, guess this is another rotten day at CDMS. Adam thought in a tired tone. Let's just get this day done and over with. I already know how this day will turn out, so I just might as well get ready for it...
With that, Adam got out of bed, stretched his arms out, and then went into the bathroom, as he was planning on getting ready for the school day.
The only thing that he was looking forward to today was meeting up with Kerry again, so he could tell her how he feels about her. That would bring up his mood after the lousy day he's going to have at CDMS.
With that, he stepped into the bathroom and closed the door behind him. He knew that school would start soon and he had to be on the bus, so he decided to move fast with getting ready for the day...
It took him less than twenty minutes, but Adam had managed to get things done. He had showered up, put on his day clothes, brushed his teeth, ate some breakfast, and got his lunch all packed up for the school day. He also packed up his school books and his journal in his backpack.
Now that he had taken care of everything at home, it was time for him to leave the house and wait for his bus at the bus stop. Letting out a sigh, he approached his front door, with the house keys in his hands.
"Well, I guess it's time to start yet another miserable day at CDMS," Adam grumbled to himself as he walked out of his house and locked it up. "Might as well get this done and over with. I just look forward to seeing Kerry today, where I have something that I'd like to share with her."
From there, Adam walked away from his house after making sure it was locked up. He then headed straight for the bus stop nearby and waited for his bus to show up. It was a guarantee that today was going to be yet another long and dreadful day for him. Especially since something bad and embarrassing was going to happen to him today at CDMS. He would not enjoy it when it happens to him...
CHARLES DARWIN MIDDLE SCHOOL - 7:29 A.M.
It didn't take long for the bus to come and pick him up, and then drop him off at the school. Adam noticed that he didn't see Jake anyway. He wondered if he was either sick and stayed home, or if he was up to something.
The human student hoped that it wasn't the latter, and decided to brush it off for now. He entered the school building with no trouble, as he walked down the hall, not paying any attention to the other students that were around him.
Hmmmm... I wonder where Jake is... I heard nothing about him being sick from school today. Adam thought to himself as he went towards his locker. Why do I get the feeling that he's going to do something embarrassing to me that'll get me into trouble? I seriously hope that nothing bad happens to me today...
As he kept that thought to himself, he opened his locker and put his bag in there, and then took some of his books out of there afterwards for the classes that he has today. Once he had all the books that he needed, he closed his locker and looked around the hallways.
It was strange. Usually, he would have heard Jake calling out to him and swinging on the vines above. But this time, he didn't see nor hear him at all. This got Adam a little confused as he rubbed his temple at this.
He looked down the hall and didn't see his other animal friends either. This was starting to get suspicious to the human student, as he then heard Principal Pixiefrog give the morning announcements on the intercom.
"Good morning students. This is your beloved Principal Pixiefrog with the morning announcements," Principal Pixiefrog started the announcements. "For any of our cetacean students or any aquasquadder, in general, that would like to try out for the swimming team, don't forget to fill out those forms and have them handed over to Mr. Blowhole by this Friday."
"So basically it's for animals that reside in water," Adam muttered. "Yeah, that makes sense."
"Also, any of the students who are interested in taking our nautical-sea classes next week, please fill out a form that instructs that you have accepted this new possibility and that we are in no way responsible for any wrongdoings that could occur from it," Principal Pixiefrog decided to wrap things up with the morning announcements. "Lastly, all extracurricular activities will be held in the school lobby today, after the school day is over! That'll be all for the morning announcements!"
As soon as the announcements were done, everyone went back to doing what they were doing before, since they would have to report to their first-period class soon.
Adam meanwhile, decided to walk down the hall away from his locker as he took a look at his surroundings. He still hasn't seen Jake yet, even after the morning announcements were done. He spent the next few moments thinking about it when suddenly, he encountered the other members of the pack, which got his attention.
"Oh, hey guys," he greeted them.
"Hey, Adam," they all said in unison.
"Right," Adam got down to the point as he tucked the collar on his shirt. "By the way, have any of you seen Jake today?"
"Well Adam, if my memory serves me correctly, then the last place that I've seen of Jake would happen to be in the gymnasium," Windsor explained. "And by the looks of it, it seems he's planning something big."
"Like what exactly?" Adam raised an eyebrow.
"Who knows for sure, dude," Slips told him. "All that we know is that he's planning something huge and that it looks like it could be killer from what we've seen."
"Oh great. I suppose that he's setting up a prank to pull on Principal Pixiefrog again, isn't he?" Adam groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Well, if that's what he's doing, then I want no part of it. And if it happens, I'll just say that I had nothing to do with it."
"Oh come on Adam," Ingrid told him assuringly. "Don't act like something bad will happen to you."
"Sí," Lupe agreed with her. "Just because Jake has to set up a prank for our beloved principal, doesn't mean that you'll get in trouble for it!"
"Trying telling that to PF, and my permanent record," Adam moaned. "It happens every time he does something like this. He causes trouble, and I get blamed for it."
"Hmmm, it would appear that you have a valid point Adam," Windsor rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Anytime Jake pulls off one of his shenanigans, you get all the heat for his actions."
"Exactly," Adam nodded. "That's why I'm not going to get involved in it this time. I'm staying away from it."
"Do what you think is cool for you, dude," Slips advised him. "But don't be surprised if you do end up in trouble just for something Jake did."
"Look, guys, I just want to have as much of a great day at this school as I possibly can," Adam furrowed his eyebrows. "I do not want to get in trouble today, so I'm keeping away from it. Do you all understand?"
"Yes," they all nodded simultaneously, which was good enough of an answer for Adam.
"Great," Adam sighed as the first-period bell went off. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to get to class on time. I'll see you guys later."
The pack members didn't get to say anything else as Adam turned around and walked away from them, presumably heading for his first-period class.
Once he was out of earshot, Slips decided to bring up something important.
"Do you guys think that we should've told Adam about what Jake is planning to do for him today?" Slips queried.
"Patience my snake friend. All will be revealed soon," Windsor told him. "We just need to make sure Jake sees that sometimes, there are consequences to his actions. And for that to happen, we need to have Adam reach his breaking point and finally let Jake know how he feels about it all."
"Honestly guys, I wish that we didn't have to see Adam get humiliated just for Jake to see the consequences of his actions," Ingrid shared with them. "We don't want him to hate our school anymore than he already does."
"We know! But what choice do we have!?" Lupe hollered. "Jake is too stubborn to see how this has affected him, so this needs to happen for our monkey friend to open his eyes for himself!"
"Yeah. I just hope that things don't get messy for Adam," said Slips. "It wouldn't be good to see his anger issues over it, man."
"Precisely how we all feel. But alas, we must let this take its course and allow Jake to see the error behind his shenanigans before we go any further. So until it happens, we must keep a lid on it in front of Adam," Windsor instructed. "In the meantime, we might as well head to first period, before we're late."
Slips, Lupe, and Ingrid all nodded in agreement to that as they headed off to their first-period class while thinking about what Jake has planned, and how all of this would impact Adam. They had no idea how bad this was going to affect their human friend, and how things were going to go wrong for him today. But all they could do was wait and find out for themselves...
Meanwhile, in the gymnasium, Jake had finally put together the last of the prank that he had set up for Adam. He had to wonder what Adam would think of it and how he'd feel about it after it's been pulled on him. He didn't give it much thought, feeling that he would enjoy it.
"Annnnnd done. Well, that's that. The prank is all set," Jake dusted his hands off. "Now I just have to wait for lunchtime for Adam to check it out. And then he'll 'actually' fit into our school a bit better."
Jake then did some thinking as he rubbed his chin. "Hmmmm, I wonder what Adam will think of this when I pull it off on him..."
As soon as he said that, he decided to shake it off as he shrugged his shoulders.
"Ah well. I'm pretty sure he'll love it anyway," it was then Jake checked his watch and noticed something was off as he screeched. "Woah! Would you look at that?! I'm going to be late for class again! Better not let Adam think I've gone missing. He's gonna love this."
Once he said that he let out another screech as he stormed out of the gym and swung from vine to vine just to get to first-period class, where Adam and the others were currently. He was 'really' looking forward to pulling this prank on Adam, unaware of the consequences that would come up as a result...
Quite some time had passed during the school day so far, and it was already just about lunchtime. Adam managed to get by Mr. Hornbill's class, Ms. Chameleon's drama class, and Hibernation class without ANYTHING bad happening to him. He continued to remain on alert because of what Jake had planned.
He figured that it was a prank for Principal Pixiefrog, and he didn't want to get caught up in it this time. But he was unaware of what the prank is truly for, and what the purpose of it was. He saw Jake pass him some looks occasionally in the three classes they had so far. And he also heard him make monkey chitters too.
He was certainly suspicious of the looks he got, but he didn't say anything about it since he didn't want to get in any trouble. So for the most part, he was just minding his own business and did all the classwork that he had to do for the classes he took part in.
Currently, Adam was enjoying his lunch at the same table that the pack was sitting at and eating their lunches. He was merely just minding his own business, not talking to anyone while he was eating when Jake approached him and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey Adam," he said to him, which got Adam to look over his shoulders while eating, giving him a look.
"What do you want Jake?" Adam asked after gulping his food.
"Well, I was just, oh you know, walking around and found you eating lunch," Jake remarked slowly. "And then I remembered. There's something in the gym that I'd like you to see."
Adam had to put down his sandwich as he turned around to face Jake, giving him a suspicious look.
"Seriously Jake? Is this about the prank that you set up for Principal Pixiefrog?" Adam questioned him firmly. "To be honest, I 'really' don't want to get involved with another one of your hijinks. I just don't want to get in trouble again."
"Come on Adam! It'll be a blast!" Jake begged before adding. "And who says that this prank is for PF? Cause let me tell you, it ain't for our beloved principal."
"Oh?" Adam was now more confused. "Then who's it for?"
"Why don't you come with me and see for yourself?" Jake made the suggestion.
"I dunno Jake," Adam took another bite of his sandwich. "I've been having a fairly tolerable day at school so far, and I 'really' don't want to be a part of whatever kind of joke you have planned out for anyone."
"Oh come on! Have some fun, why don't ya," Jake yelled. "It won't take long at all. And trust me, you'll LOVE it!"
Adam had to put down his sandwich and sigh. It was clear that Jake wasn't going to stop bugging him about it until he sees it for himself. He then figured that if it would get him off his back, then he might as well see what kind of prank Jake had set up in the gym. Letting out another groan, Adam stood up from his seat.
"Alright. Fine Jake," Adam said dully. "I'll go see what prank you've set up in the gym. But it's only going to be a few moments, and then I come back here to eat lunch. Got it?"
"Gotcha buddy. And don't worry, it won't take long," Jake lied to him. "Not long at all. Now follow me!"
Adam couldn't help but roll his eyes at that as he followed after Jake, who had already rushed off to the gymnasium, leaving his sandwich in the process. Once both of them were out of the cafeteria, the rest of the pack members saw this as their cue to check out what was going to happen.
"Okay, folks. We better follow after them," Windsor told them.
Slips, Ingrid and Lupe nodded as they got up from their seats and left the cafeteria too, and followed Adam and Jake to the gym. Things were going to go downhill at any minute...
It didn't take long for the two of them to reach the gym, as Jake moved out of the way and motioned his hands directly towards the gym.
"There it is Adam. Ta-da!" Jake shouted.
Adam decided to get a good look at this for himself. What he saw in the gym left him feeling unimpressed. The prank was shown to be a rope with a white X in the middle of the big loop that was a part of the rope.
"Seriously Jake? That's your prank?" Adam expressed his annoyance. "That's just an X with a rope looping around it."
"That's not all. Come on, check it out!" Jake frolicked and skipped into the gym, with Adam walking behind him a few feet apart.
By the time they were in the gym, the others of the pack had poked their heads from beside the entrance, not entering the gym as they watched what was going to take place.
As soon as he stepped into the gym, Adam got a good look at the prank in its entirety. Near one of the bleachers was a bag of sand, which was being used as a weight to keep the rope in place. When he looked throughout the gym, he saw several things in place. One was a bucket of glue placed on the top of one of the bleachers.
Another was a tub full of feathers located on the ground in front of the other bleachers. Then there was some sharp object on the basketball hoop, presumably to rip someone's clothes off. And right underneath the same basketball hoop was a tub full of tar. He looked up towards the center of the ceiling and saw a giant bag of powder taped up onto it.
And he saw some dead snake skin tucked into the basketball net of the other hoop. And finally, placed conveniently over the door leading to the boy's locker room was a bucket of chum.
There was no doubt that Adam was a bit uncomfortable with the prank he was seeing that Jake came up with.
"Uhhh, Jake?" Adam said with a worried expression. "I don't mean any offense, but this prank looks a little dangerous."
"That's just like you Adam," Jake placed his arm around Adam's shoulder. "You never know when to think outside the box and you like to play it safe."
"It's kinda hard to play it safe when I nearly get eaten and killed daily," Adam rolled his eyes at that comment. "But anyway, my point is someone could easily get hurt by this."
"Yeah right. Only a wimp would get hurt by this," Jake retorted.
"You mean like Henry?" Adam guessed while raising an eyebrow.
"Yeeeeeaaaaaah," Jake said slowly and sheepishly. "Anyway, I would like you to do me a favor."
"Oh boy," Adam wasn't gonna enjoy what Jake wanted from him. "What is it this time, Jake?"
"Oh nothing," Jake then directed him. "Just stand right on that X right there."
"Oh no," now Adam was growing suspicious. "Jake, what are you up to?"
"You'll see. Now come on. It'll be for just a moment."
Before Adam could object, Jake had to go behind and push him over to where the X was. Adam had a look of annoyance when Jake did this to him. Once Adam was standing right on the X, Jake quickly rushed over to the side of the bleachers where that sandbag was.
"Don't worry! This'll just take a moment!" Jake called out to him.
I already have a bad feeling about this... Adam thought dreadfully before calling out. "Jake!? You better not be doing what I think you're doing!"
"Quit fretting Adam! This'll be fun," Jake hollered. "But first, I got one thing that I'd like to say to you!"
"Oh," Adam then crossed his arms. "And what would that be Jake?"
It was then shown that Jake had a large pair of scissors in his hands as he shouted. "ENJOY THE RIDE!"
Before Adam could make a retort or make a single move, Jake had already used the scissor to cut the rope, leading to the sandbag falling, and for the rope to start moving.
Adam felt the loop of the rope tighten up around his leg as he was then dragged along with the rope.
"JAAAAAAKE!" Adam screamed as he was being dragged around by the rope. "AHHHHHH!"
Jake watched the prank unravel for himself as he grinned at the sight of it. The rest of the pack members saw this taking place and they decided to step into the gym to watch in shock.
Adam's screaming was loud enough to draw in a crowd of animal students as the gym got packed with all of them as they watched Adam being caught in the middle of Jake's prank against his will.
The first thing they saw was Adam going through that basketball hoop with the sharp object, as he was rubbing against them. This resulted in him being ripped out of his clothes, including his undies. After going through the basketball hoop, his shoes came off of his feet, and then his socks fell off.
"Oooo..." The animal students watched a now-naked Adam being dragged by rope all over the gym.
Moments later, Adam fell right into the bucket of glue. He was then completely covered in glue. He didn't get to react as he was then dragged by the rope again.
Sometime after that, he then landed right into the tub of feathers. Because he was covered in glue, he was now completely covered in them, and they couldn't come off. Thankfully, they covered his nudeness.
"Ahhh..." The animal students awed at this as they saw the feathered-covered human student in the tub before them.
Adam couldn't even react to this as he was dragged again. This time his body ended up colliding into the tub of tar that was underneath the basketball hoops his clothes were ripped. He was dumped into the tar tub before being pulled out again. He was now covered in tar and feathers as the prank kept going. He was then pulled up to the ceiling where his body collided with the giant bag of powder that was taped there.
The giant bag ended up popping open with a loud boom, as powder dust scattered all over the ceiling. When it cleared up, it revealed Adam who was now covered in powder.
"Woah..." The animal students gasped at what they were seeing as Adam was being dragged down from the ceiling.
He was then dragged into the other basketball hoop with the dead snake skin, which rubbed against the human student. And because he was sticky, the skin got stuck onto him as he now had the snake skin attached to his body. Adam was pretty much at his breaking point by this point, as everyone else continued to watch this prank take hold.
It was then Adam was dragged towards the entrance of the boy's locker room, where that bucket of chum was sitting above. Adam then caused the bucket of chum to fall onto him as he went into the locker room, as everyone watched this take place.
Adam was able to toss the bucket off of him as he now smelled like fish-chum, on top of being covered in tar, feathers, powder, and snakeskin. He was then dragged through the entirety of the locker room, going through every shower stall, locker, and changing area in there.
A few moments later, Adam was dragged out of the locker room and went back up toward the ceiling, which he collided with. By then, the rope that was tied to his foot snapped apart, and he then fell onto the ground.
Everyone saw him crash onto the ground with a thud, as a dust cloud formed, causing them to 'ooo' in curiosity while waiting for the dust cloud to clear up.
Once the dust cloud settled, they saw Adam for themselves. He was lying on the floor, on his stomach, as it looked like he was in so much pain and agony, while also looking like a mess. Seeing that the prank was over, Jake ran over to him.
"Alright! Now we're talking Adam!" Jake hollered in excitement. "Now you can fit in with the rest of us animals! You look and smell like one of us, so there's no longer a reason why you should hate this place! Do you all agree with me?!"
In an instant, Jake started laughing like crazy, followed by everyone else laughing along with him. The only ones who weren't laughing at Adam's expense were the rest of the pack members.
They had looks of concern since they knew how things would turn out, and worry since Adam went through all that pain and misery while getting caught in Jake's prank that he set up for him.
Several moments after he took in what Jake said, and from hearing everyone laughing, Adam's eyes shot open all the way. So that's what this was about. Jake attempts to make Adam look more like an animal so he'd fit in with the rest of the school.
All at the cost of humiliating him and stripping him of his dignity, or what dignity he had left from being at this school. He felt his teeth grit and eyebrows furrow as a vein popped up on his forehead. He had reached his breaking point. Enough was enough.
"Jake...Why...?" Adam asked slowly and calmly.
"Why what?" Jake stopped laughing upon hearing that question, as did everyone else.
"Why did you set that prank up for me," he asked again, firmly this time. "Did you 'really' think that this would help me fit in with the rest of you?"
"Why sure. Why wouldn't it work," Jake said with a slight snicker, oblivious to the anger Adam was feeling. "I mean, now you look like us, and you smell like us too! It's priceless!"
The other students snickered at that, especially the tougher bullies such as Bull Sharkowski, while the pack members could sense the indignation that was forming in Adam.
Here it comes... They all thought with worried expressions on their faces.
Feeling some strength being mustered up, Adam slowly got up and curled his hands into fists. Once he was standing, he gave Jake a rather cold look and spoke in a calm but callous manner.
"You 'really' gone and done it this time Jake," he said icily. "What were you thinking when you set this up for me?"
"What was I thinking? Are you nuts?" Jake was confused by this. "I was trying to help you fit in!"
"Really? Does helping me fit in mean embarrassing me in front of everyone, and making me look and smell like a mess?" Adam snorted before glaring harder at Jake. "You not only humiliated me with your prank in front of everyone, but you also stripped apart whatever dignity, humanity, and tolerance that I had left with this school! THIS IS THE LAST STRAW JAKE!"
"Woah! Calm down!" Jake had his hands up defensively. "No need to get so worked up over it."
"Don't tell me not to get worked up over it, you idiot!" Adam snapped, getting everyone to jump at his tone. "I have a right to get furious with what you put me through, especially after everything I've been put through at this stupid school! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Jake was shocked by his anger. But before he could say anything, Adam stormed out of the gym, away from everyone else in the school, especially the troublemaking spider monkey. Once he was gone, all the other students were stunned and shocked by what had taken place, including Bull. The pack members weren't surprised in the slightest, as they expected Adam to react like this. They could only shake their heads in disappointment.
Jake was a little shocked and startled by his outburst for a few moments or so. But eventually, he shook it off and managed to get back on topic.
"Well anyway guys, wasn't that the best prank or what?" Jake asked them.
Nobody said a word as they were still in a state of catatonic shock from what just happened.
"Oh come on guys," Jake said. "That was funny, wasn't it!?"
"Uhhhh...Jake," Windsor decided to speak up. "I think your little practical joke had managed to hurt Adam more than it did to help him."
"Hurt him?" Jake was now confused. "What are you talking ab-"
"SPIDER MONKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!" A loud and angry voice was heard bellowing, cutting Jake off as everyone turned to see who yelled like that.
It was Principal Pixiefrog, who was riding on his scooter, and he was seriously furious right now by what had just happened. Mrs. Warthog was right by his side as they approached Jake. Jake got a good look at PF as the principal stared him right in the face.
"Do you realize what you've just done?" Principal Pixiefrog asked with a slightly agitated tone.
"Only pulled the greatest prank ev-" Jake started before PF cut him off.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Pixiefrog waved his hand before pointing out. "But more importantly, you made a mess of the gym! You 'completely' destroyed parts of the gym with your reckless stunt! Now it's gonna cost a fortune to patch things up!"
"What about Adam Lyon?" Mrs. Warthog brought up with her usual indifferent tone.
"Oh yeah, him too," Pixiefrog proclaimed as Coach Gills, Horace, and Mr. Mandrill entered the gym and walked over to the principal and his assistant. "Well Jake, for your little stunt, I'm giving you a week's worth of detention!"
"Me? What about Adam?" Jake wondered. "Aren't you gonna give him detention also?"
"Oh, I haven't forgotten about Mr. Lyon," Principal Pixiefrog said sternly. "Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if he gets detention for this. Because of your practical joke, there's a chance that young Lyon will complain to his folks. His parents could end up getting lawyers to sue the school! WE'LL BE UP TO OUR NECK IN LAWSUITS BECAUSE OF YOU!"
"Wuh?" Jake was confused by the outburst.
"Spidermonkey, don't you have any decency?!" Coach Gills asked with her usual loud voice. "Don't you even have a tiny shred of decent respect inside of that dimwitted head of yours!?"
"I don't think I follow," Jake admitted, scratching his temple.
"You know something, Jake? Adam had talked with me yesterday about his issues," Mr. Mandrill said with a more disappointed tone. "And he 'really' did have a lot that he needed to get off of his chest."
"Really? What did he say?" Jake queried.
"I'd rather not say out of respect," Mandrill exclaimed, crossing his arms. "But let's just say that it's about how upset he's been at this school. And that your part of the problem."
"Me? I'm part of the problem?" Jake asked incredulously.
"Gee, I dunno. What do you think, Spidermonkey?" Pixiefrog retorted. "Would you like to see the mess that was left behind in the gym thanks to your 'brilliant' scheme? Because by the looks of it, you have 'really' gone and done it this time."
"Oh come on!" Jake yelled exasperatedly, throwing his arms out. "You don't think that my prank caused him to flip out, do you?"
"Well, when you put it that way Spidermonkey, it does sound complicated. So let me spell it out for that ignoramus head of yours," Coach Gills then took a deep breath and yelled. "YES! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT JAKE SPIDERMONKEY!"
"Woah. I didn't think this prank would've made people upset," Jake defended.
"Well Jake, I really hate to say I told you so," Windsor walked over towards him with the rest of the pack. "But this prank you set up on Adam was the final blow to his sanity at this school."
"Yeah, dude. Adam's gone off the deep end thanks to that prank," Slips agreed. "He ran off without any clothes on, man!"
"So? What's wrong with that?" Jake still didn't get it. "Plenty of us have gone without clothes on. Shucks, I don't even wear pants."
"You know, I had a feeling that this prank was a bad idea right from the start," Ingrid spoke up. "You just couldn't be satisfied with Adam being himself and remaining different from the rest of us, couldn't you Jake?"
"Sí! We prefer Adam the way he is!" Lupe agreed with a yell.
"Alright! Alright!" Jake yelled. "I guess I should apologize to him, shouldn't I?!"
"Yes, Mr. Spidermonkey. You go do that," Principal Pixiefrog said dryly. "And you tell him that this was all your deliberate scheme and that you are fully responsible for it. And maybe he might reconsider suing the school over this."
"Fine! I'll find Adam and apologize to him," Jake huffed. "Maybe he might forgive me, considering we're best friends and all."
The others wanted to retort to that, but before they could, Jake already stormed off to find Adam. Once he was gone, the others were unsure about what they should do next.
"Do you think we should stop him before he makes things worse," Slips wondered.
"I suggest we don't intervene with this predicament," Windsor suggested. "Whether he gives Adam a sincere apology or not is all his decision. But considering how strained Adam's been here, I can safely assume that he's going to give our simian friend an ear-load that's been a long time coming."
"Let's just hope that he doesn't take long to get his anger out!" Lupe proclaimed.
"You said it, sister," Ingrid agreed. "It's finally time Jake knows the truth for himself."
"Yeah, we should just chill and let nature do the talking," Slips remarked.
"That's precisely what I'm saying, Slips," Windsor said.
"Ahem, now that that's been taken care of, EVERYONE BETTER SKEDADDLE!" Principal Pixiefrog commanded. "All of you students head back to whatever class you are assigned to currently! The gymnasium will be closed off for reservation until repairs are made. All gym classes will be held outside instead. Which should be held momentarily. Now MOVE OUT!"
It didn't take long for everyone to clear out and exit the gymnasium in an orderly fashion. This included Pixiefrog, Mrs. Warthog, Mr. Mandrill, Coach Gills, and Horace. Eventually, the gym was completely emptied, with nothing but the damage that was caused to Adam by Jake.
Adam's clothes were either torn or discarded on the ground. Jake was about to find out that there would be consequences to his actions this time, and that it would cost him something dear to him, big time...
Meanwhile, outside near the football field, we see Adam Lyon standing in front of it. Since his clothes were ruined, he had to resort to wearing a loin cloth that he found on the way to the football field. He was still covered in feathers, tar, and powder, and he had recently pulled off the snake skin from his body. Judging by how he was completely alone, it was obvious that he was not in the mood to talk to anyone, let alone Jake.
Speaking of whom, Jake had exited the school building and had walked around towards the football field near the school, and he saw Adam standing there. Jake took notice of the loincloth that he was wearing, but he didn't bother giving it much thought.
Feeling that he needed to get the apology out in the open, Jake cleared his throat and approached him. This got Adam's attention as he said while not turning around.
"Go away," his voice was very bitter and cold, which got Jake to flinch slightly.
"Uh...hey Adam," Jake spoke up, shuffling his feet. "I need to tell you something."
"Get lost Jake," Adam told him sternly. "I'm not in the mood to talk with you..."
"Ooo...uh..." Jake found his voice and got to the point. "Well Adam, I just want to say...I'm sorry for what I did to you in the gym..."
"Oh, so now you're sorry, huh?" Adam then let out a sarcastic laugh before slowly turning around to face him. "Well let me ask you something Jake; why are you apologizing to me now when you should have done it sooner?"
"Hey! In my defense, I didn't know that you'd hated it," Jake had his hands up. "I thought you would've loved it, and that you would have flattered me for making you look and smell more like an animal and fit in with our school."
"Flatter you? Ha! That's a riot," Adam snorted as he marched over and stared Jake down. "Did you even think about talking with me about this prank before setting it up? Did you ever consider how I would've felt about it!?"
"Wait, you have feelings?!" Jake acted as if he was surprised.
"Gee Jake, why do you think I've been feeling upset about being here," Adam retorted as he glared at the spider monkey. "All the times you got me in trouble. Not to mention all the times you have humiliated me in front of the whole school, I would've thought you had gotten the message about how I felt."
"I...didn't know that you felt strongly about this..." Jake uttered.
"Where have you been all this time?" Adam asked rhetorically with a growl. "Were you just admiring your 'own' butt instead of seeing how ALL of this was affecting me!? Did you even care for a second about my well-being? NO! Of course, you don't. Because you don't take responsibility for ANYTHING you do. Instead, you just blamed ME!"
"Whoa! Easy on the insults there, bub," Jake yelled as he furrowed his eyebrows. "Why are you getting so antsy about a silly prank I pulled on you? And what's with the anger issues you have towards me? I'm supposed to be your best friend!"
"Best friend, huh?" Adam was outraged when he used the best friend excuse again. So now he was going to tell him off. "Do best friends throw one another under the bus to avoid getting in trouble? Or do any of the horrible things that you have done towards me?"
"Huh," now Jake was confused by this. "Since when have I ever thrown you under the bus?"
"You don't remember? Hmph! No surprise there. Well, let me jog your memory, Jake," Adam's voice got colder the more he talked to him. "Remember the time you unfriended me and wanted to find a new best friend? After I told you how Bull Sharkowski went ape on me? And that you were upset and jealous that I didn't say it to you?"
"Okay. So it was just one time," Jake defended. "Big deal."
"Big deal? Oh, Jake, you've done it more than 'one time'. Let me count 'the ways' in which you've screwed me over," Adam started to list out the many other instances. "There was the time when you stole all the glass door knobs from my house, and then used them to put all the students in a trance, and got them to change the school. And they got broken anyway after it all went down; you ruined my science project that you thought was a toilet by using it as, surprise, a TOILET! Then you had a robot arm planted on your head to make up for it, which nearly destroyed and ruined the science fair for everybody! And it was all for naught since Phineas still won the science far!"
Adam had to take a deep breath before he continued. "There was the time when you, Windsor, and Slips slept over at my house and made me miss my date with Kerry. Even though I told you guys that I wanted to turn in early that night! Oh, and how can I forget the time that I wanted to bring Kerry to the school dance? You lied to me about how only human students who attend CDMS can attend the dance. I had to convince her to wear a giraffe costume just so I could bring her to the dance! And then you had to drag Ingrid into it. ALL because you were upset and jealous that I wanted to bring Kerry to the dance, and that you couldn't be happy for me!"
"Uh, A-Adam, I-" Jake tried to say to him.
"I'M NOT FINISHED YET!" Adam snapped at him before he got back on track. "Now, there was the time that you got BOTH of us Saturday detention when that bucket of chum fell onto PF's head, and I got the full blame for something YOU did! And then you have me waste my time for me to get onto your 'own' cable show; Basic Jake. And if that wasn't enough, after I started to enjoy being on it, you went completely nuts that I was out staging you on your 'own' show. In which YOU WERE THE ONE WHO FORCED ME ONTO THAT SHOW IN THE FIRST PLACE!"
"Adam? Y-Your starting to scare me..." Jake whimpered.
"I'm scaring you? Good. Because I've been holding ALL of this in for a long time! And that's not all. There have been plenty of times that you screwed me over and showed me that you were a very bad friend to me," Adam then pointed out with his fingers. "I'm sure you remember the polar region where you ditched me for those cool kids, right? Or the lies that you wrote about me in the school newspapers and the school's news channel? Or when you exploited Henry's mediocre talent, and then did the same to me? Or the egg assignment where you acted hypocritical about being responsible? Or the cloning incident? Or the time you refused to give me that Princess Ballerina snowglobe that I wanted to get from that carnival game, which you put onto online auction and I didn't get it?! You know, for a friend, you have a bad and funny way of showing me how much you value me."
"Adam, I..." Jake tried to utter.
"Oh, and then there was the time that I set up the United Species to bring all the students together, and to avoid any lawsuits that Principal PF could be struck with," Adam continued his rant, his voice getting angrier by the passing second. "And YOU had to force it to be shut down when you brought Kiki Von Beaky, all because I had you kicked out for your UNRULY behavior! Also, remember the $596.78 bill that I was given at Sloppy Trough that one night when we needed to get the Pretties back together? And you and Windsor DITCHED me when I needed help with paying it, and all you gave me was an expired coupon! Not to mention that happened because you gave me the wrong information for our research paper! Oh, and how about when I was in charge of the lookout tower? You ruined everything by not only using the telescope to stir chili and the emergency siren as an ice bucket. You also filled the macadamia can with filberts and other nuts nobody likes! Because of you, I was stuck paying off another expensive bill that Pixiefrog placed on my head!"
"Hey Adam, aren't you being too harsh about this?" Jake asked as he felt some tears starting to form.
"Am I being too harsh? Oh, this is nothing," Adam rolled his eyes and then said hotly. "You know, I 'really' didn't like what you put me through on Saturday when you sabotaged the drive for us. And I had to be stuck with all the hard work while you just admired your butt. And I was beaten up, struggled with therapy work, and puked five times as a result! And then everyone at school hated me and pelted me with garbage, including animal droppings!"
"Well Adam, look at it this way," Jake tried to fish up a comment. "Principal Pixiefrog has banned all students from throwing droppings at anyone..."
"THAT'S BESIDE THE POINT, JAKE!" Adam erupted. "What you did to me today; the prank and humiliating me in front of everyone, was the STRAW that broke the camel's back for me! Honestly, I don't even know why I'm still friends with you after all this!"
"A-Adam... You...You don't mean that..." Jake whimpered. "You can't possibly mean that..."
"Well guess what Jake? I do mean it! I would do ANYTHING to get transferred out of this school and get sent back to my old school," Adam gave him the cold harsh truth. "At least I wouldn't be constantly humiliated by zoo animals, get nearly eaten alive daily, and most of all, I wouldn't have a so-called best friend STAB ME IN THE BACK ALL THE TIME! Do you understand?!"
"But...listen...I, uh..." Jake struggled to say as he got teary-eyed and sniffled.
"Save it, Jake. I no longer care," Adam held his hand out to him just to get him to stop. "As of this moment, I don't want any association with you. I don't want to talk with you, hang out with you, or anything. You are a horrible friend to me. And one more thing. Your obsession with me is creepy, and it freaks me out. I hate it. You never once cared about how I feel, and that there are stuff that I want to enjoy. So why should I continue being friends with you? Face it, this is the end of the line for us."
Jake was unable to say anything as his heart broke and tears streamed down from his eyes. Adam didn't care, as he was all set with his drama and antics.
"If you 'really' valued our friendship, you would've cared about how I feel, how all of this was upsetting me, and that you would have treated me with more respect. But guess what? You didn't. You barely treated me like a real friend, and every time you were nice to me felt more like an afterthought," Adam was just about ready to leave. "Therefore, from this moment on Jake, we are no longer best friends or friends in general. Face it, you did this to yourself, and you have to take responsibility for your 'own' actions. You can't use me anymore since this is it for us. I hope you're happy Jake."
With that, Adam turned around and was planning on walking away from Jake, planning on cutting all ties with him.
"B-But...But Adam, please," Jake cried out and choked. "I-I'm sorry!"
Adam stopped for a second and sighed while shaking his head. "It's too late for that now. If you were sorry, you would have never mistreated me again. Which is something you never stopped doing. So just accept the facts. It's over for us. We are no longer associated with each other, and that's that. Goodbye, Jake."
With that, Adam continued walking away from the spider monkey, not giving him another look. Jake was now sobbing about this.
"Wait, Adam! Please, give me another chance!" Jake sobbed. "I don't want to lose my BEST FRIEND!"
The only response Adam gave to Jake was the cold shoulder, as he pretty much ignored his existence as he walked back into the building to get the rest of the school day done and over with.
As soon as Adam went into the building, he slammed the door shut behind him, leaving Jake all alone to wallow in his 'own' shame and disgrace. Seeing that he lost the trust and friendship of Adam, Jake could only cry and wail about everything that happened.
I can't believe it...I am a horrible best friend...
With that thought in mind, Jake cried and howled in sadness as he lost his trust and friendship with Adam for good. The rest of the pack had seen Jake crying and overheard some of what Adam had to say to him.
"Gee, Jake is taking this 'really' hard," Slips commented. "And Adam is no longer friends with him dudes."
"Yes. But the thing is Jake had brought all of this upon himself," Windsor nodded. "He kept on treating Adam as something that wasn't worth valuing and cherishing, so he had to be given the consequences. Whether he wants to accept them or not. He has taken our human friend Adam Lyon for granted way too many times since he's been at our school. And he's never shown any signs of appreciation for what Adam did for him. So I was expecting this to go down."
"Yeah. It does sound like a harsh path, Windsor my man," Slips said slowly.
"I think we all should leave Adam alone for a while," Lupe gave a suggestion. "He's 'clearly' not in the mood to talk with anyone, especially with how he told Jake off and cut ties with him!"
"I agree! I-I mean, I for one, don't want Adam to start hating us too," Ingrid said fearfully. "So maybe we should give him some time to think things over, so it doesn't get worse."
"That's precisely what I've been thinking," Windsor commented. "I suspect that we should leave Jake alone too. He'll likely be crying his eyes out for quite some time."
"Sí," Lupe nodded. "We all know what Jake acts like when he's being such a drama queen! He doesn't stop!"
"Exactly," Windsor nodded. "Now uh, shall we make our way back to whatever class we have currently?"
"You said it, dude," Slips agreed.
Lupe and Ingrid just nodded.
And so the four of them went back to the class that they were in currently, leaving Jake to continue crying his heart out in sadness. And they had no plans on bothering Adam anymore for the remainder of the day.
"Hey guys, you know something," Ingrid decided to comment. "I think by doing this, we might end up convincing Adam to reconsider wanting to get transferred from CDMS and back to his old human school..."
But what Ingrid didn't know was that there were going to be some big changes happening with Adam. And they were changes that would impact everyone at Charles Darwin Middle School forever...
AT ADAM'S HOUSE - 4:45 P.M.
The day had pressed on, and eventually, the school day was over. And Adam was more than relieved to be able to head back home. He didn't bother talking to ANYONE at the school for the remainder of the day, especially Jake after the rant he gave him. So when it was time to head home, he did exactly that as he did not want to be in that school for another second.
Once he got home, he showered up, cleaned himself, and got into some fresh clean clothes. Once he was clean and freshened up again, Adam decided to get his homework done, which took hardly any time for him to do at all. This was because he wasted no time and wanted to get it done and over with.
Currently, Adam was sitting at the table in the living room as he was writing in his journal with an angry expression on his face. It was clear that he was writing down what he had been through today at school, especially with how much pressure he was putting on his pencil while writing.
By the time he was finished, he put down his pencil, which had some smoke coming out from the point of it after how it was used furiously. Afterwards, he decided to read out what he had written in his journal for today. This is what he wrote:
Well journal, it looks like I had a horrible day at CDMS today. While it started decently, it all went downhill the moment Jake pulled that prank on me! I got my clothes ripped off, became nude, and then got covered in glue, feathers, tar, powder, snakeskin, and chum! And I got several injuries on top of it, and was humiliated in front of the WHOLE SCHOOL!
I had to wear a loin cloth that I found just to cover up my nudeness! Especially after yesterday with how Nurse Gazelle touched a part of me that I never wanted her to touch!
THEN Jake suddenly has the gall to apologize to me about the prank and humiliation, when he never apologized for all the stunts that he pulled and all the pain and misery he put me through!
I 'basically' told him off and brought up every memory that I wrote inside of you. I told him that he was a horrible friend, that I would do anything to get sent back to Chester Arthur Middle School, and also cut our friendship! That's right journal! Jake and I are no longer best friends, or friends altogether!
After constantly getting tormented, shunned, and humiliated by all the animal students, frequently getting nearly eaten alive daily, having a 'so-called' best friend stabbing me in the back every chance he gets, and not to mention everything that had happened to me on Saturday with the charity drive that Jake sabotage, what happened to me today in the gym was the LAST STRAW!
It just goes to show you, Kerry Anderson will ALWAYS be a far better friend to me than Jake ever was. At least she never felt the need to treat me like garbage, throw me under the bus, or leave me to clean up a mess that I didn't even do!
I don't know how things will go from here at Charles Darwin Middle School. But I do know one thing is for certain, I AM NEVER ASSOCIATING WITH JAKE SPIDERMONKEY AGAIN! That's all there is to it.
Well, I'm done writing this rather angry journal entry for today, so I'll give it a rest. I hope that tomorrow will be a far better improvement for my life, my sanity, and my dignity. That's all I have for now.
- Adam Lyon
Adam had read it multiple times or so and saw how much heat he had gotten off of his chest from what happened at school today. He had never been so outraged in his entire life. Not even his former life at his old middle school was this irritating.
Afterwards, he decided to take a deep breath and closed his journal shut, putting his pencil on top of it. He then realized what he should do now.
"I know what I should do. I should probably go to Kerry's house and talk with her about what I experienced today," Adam declared. "It would also help to talk about it with someone I can trust more than anyone, and Kerry seems to be that person. Besides, maybe it would also be a good time to tell her how I feel about her, and that I have a crush on her. I just have to muster up the courage, and it'll be easy. And best of all, no Jake is stopping me from doing it this time."
He had promised himself that he would tell Kerry about it, even if he has to go to her house this time. With that objective in mind, he took a deep breath, stood up from his couch, and walked away from the table.
He then walked out the front door, closed it behind him, and made sure to lock up the house before heading to Kerry's house next door.
By the time he was gone, it was shown that he had forgotten about his journal, as it was left out in the open for anyone to see, including his parents. Boy, were his parents going to be in for a surprise when they get home from work and find the journal on the living room table...
END OF CHAPTER 7...
Whoa. Looks like things have gotten downhill from here, and there are only gonna be more changes in the next couple of chapters. Anyway, that's it for this chapter. I hope you all liked it even though it's longer than the previous chapters since there was a lot that I wanted to write in this chapter.
Well, as you can see, Adam broke off his friendship with Jake, and it isn't hard to blame him considering how much of an awful friend Jake is to Adam in the actual show. And this is only the start of it, as more changes will be happening to Adam soon enough.
Anyway, the next chapter will involve Adam talking with Kerry about what happened to him at school, and how he has a crush on her. Aside from that, his parents will find out about his journal and what he wrote in it, a call will be made to the school board about something that should've been settled in the first place, and Pixiefrog will receive a call from Adam's parents about something. What is going to be happening from here? Find out, next time readers.
In the meantime, you can just leave a review for this chapter, if you like. I don't have anything more to add since we've gotten this far in the story.
Otherwise, that's all that I have for now. So until next time, I hope you all take care of yourselves. And on that note, thanks for reading again, everybody!
