Alina watched Kat as she was desperately banging on the door, and could hear Dean trying to pull it open on the other side. "Alina!"

"Dean!" She yelled back to let him know they were fine.

"Let me out! Please!"

"Kat!" Dean called the girl's name to reassure her. "Hang on!"

Alina heard loud noises coming from the other side, and she knew it was Dean smashing at the door with something. Kat slowly backed up, waiting for the door to finally open but Alina couldn't share her optimism. She put her arm around the girl to comfort her. "Dean! It's the spirits, they're keeping us inside!"

"I don't care, Frenchy! I'm getting you out of here!"

Alina couldn't help but smile at the way he'd used her nickname because he wanted to make the situation look less concerning than it actually was. He used to do that a lot when they were kids.

Unfortunately, her smile dropped when she heard someone breathing heavily behind her and Kat. The girls turned around to see no one standing there, but the fact they both had the same reaction indicated they'd heard the same thing.

"Alina?! Talk to me!" Dean was still banging on the door and didn't like the girls' sudden silence. "Alina! Kat!"

But just as they once again turned around to respond, they saw the spirit now standing in front of the door and Kat screamed in horror. Alina pulled the girl away from the tall man with dark oily hair and a disfigured face, shielding her with her own body. "It's okay Kat. I got you."

"Alina what's going on?!"

"The spirit's here!" The moment she said that, the man in front of her vanished. But she was used to this so she didn't hesitate to turn around and see the spirit standing behind Kat. "Kat don't look! Stay behind me!"

The girl screamed once again and ran behind Alina who had her arms raised on each side of her body to prevent the spirit from approaching the girl. She was disgusted by the vision in front of her, but she couldn't be scared. Not when she had to protect someone.

Sam ran down the hall to Dean with Gavin when he saw his brother struggling with the door. "What's going on?!"

"They're inside with one of them!" Dean was still trying to kick the door open but it just wouldn't budge. "Damn it! Alina's alone in there, we gotta get her out!"

"Help me!" They heard Kat's voice behind the door.

"Kat!" Gavin called her instantly.

Sam took his brother's place in front of the door, knowing what they had to do. "Alina?! You hear me?!"

"Sam! It just keeps appearing and disappearing and I don't have my freaking gun!"

Dean was relieved to hear her voice but he was scared of what could happen to her without him or Sam by her side. Missouri had told them that as long as she stayed connected to this world, the spirits wouldn't be able to hurt her. But she was out of practice, and after seeing the orbs in the hallway surrounding her only when the brothers weren't near her, he wasn't sure she'd be able to keep that connection while being locked in a room with a spirit.

"Alina listen to me!" Sam tried talking to his friend with a calm voice, even though he was afraid for her too. "It's not going to hurt you! You've got to face it."

Dean turned to his brother, astonished by his advice. "She's gotta what?!"

"We have to what?!" Kat shouted from inside the room.

"These spirits, they're not trying to hurt us, they're trying to communicate. You gotta face it. You gotta listen to it."

"Hey hold on!" Dean pushed his brother away from the door. "Alina could get hurt right now!"

"I know Dean! Trust me, I know! But it's the only way for her to get out!"

Dean couldn't believe that. He couldn't let her do that. So he shook his head and started to kick the door with his foot once again.

Inside the room, Alina was still in front of Kat who was now standing against the wall so the spirit wouldn't be able to reach her from behind. Alina could hear the brothers fighting on the other side of the door about what she had to do. She wasn't a big fan of Sam's plan either, but realized she didn't have time to think of a better one when the spirit reappeared on the other side of the tiny room. She had to do it, but…she was suddenly paralyzed by Kat's fear. It was so strong she couldn't focus on anything else.

"Kat you have to calm down!"

"I can't! I want to get out of here! Get me out of here!" She screamed again, and the sound resonated in Alina's head. Here was the headache.

Alina shook her head trying to stop the pain, but it was too hard. She felt a tear rolling down her cheek and even though she knew it wasn't really hers, she felt completely weak in that moment. "Come on Kat!" She noticed how the spirit wasn't moving anymore. He was simply waiting for her a few inches away. "I'll get us out, but you have to calm down for me! He can't hurt you as long as I'm here!"

"How do you know that?!"

Alina's whole body was now shaking, and her head felt like it was caught in a vice. She had to get out of here…

"Kat?!" That was Sam's voice. From what he'd heard Alina say to the girl, it seemed that her Empathy was blocking her because she was alone in that room with a spirit and Kat's strong negative emotions. He had to help his friend, even if he wasn't near her. "Hey you can trust Alina! She won't let that spirit hurt you!"

After a short moment, Alina heard Dean clearing his throat as if Sam was forcing him to follow his plan. "Yeah Sam's right Kat! Alina knows what she's doing! She's probably standing in front of you right now, trying to keep the spirit away because she always does that! Even when I tell her to run away, she won't move until Sam and I are safe! She's the reason we're still here today and…hell I have no idea what we'd do without her, so I trust her to get you out of here! You need to trust her too, Kat! Okay?!"

Alina couldn't believe the words that were coming out of her friend's mouth, but more importantly, she couldn't believe how much they were working on the girl behind her. Slowly, she felt Kat's body relaxing as she stopped holding onto the hunter's jacket and lifted her head.

And Alina let out a sigh of relief when her own heartbeats started to slow down too. She was finally able to breath normally, and her trembling body was back to its normal state. She was fine again.

"Alina?!" Dean called her, still waiting for a sign that she was okay.

Alina let her arms fall back along side her body. "I'm fine!" She didn't know how much these words meant to the brothers who were now sharing the same reassured look.

She took a step away from Kat, and slightly turn to her to make sure she would be alright. "You're doing great Kat. Just hold on, okay?" She waited for the girl to nod in agreement, before she faced the spirit once again, and walked towards him. With Kat calmed down, Alina quickly realized that the fear she was feeling earlier was actually covering something she wasn't expecting to feel. The pain and the sadness.

As she got closer to the spirit, she noticed another scarred patient appearing next to her. Then another one. And another one until she was now surrounded by multiple patients that looked scary and dangerous, but were actually begging for her help. The hunter felt terrible for misunderstanding them so much. She noticed the same white-haired woman she'd shot earlier when she'd tried to approach Sam, and she felt a knot forming in her throat. There was so much pain coming from them.

She then turned back to the man who'd used Kat to get the hunter in, because he couldn't reach her as long as Dean was next to her.

"I'm listening now." She nodded at the spirit, and he eventually got closer to her to whisper in her ear.

And right after that, the lock clicked and the door slowly opened itself. Kat ran out of the room, jumping in Gavin's arms while the brothers rushed inside the room to find Alina still surrounded by the group of patients. "Alina get down!" Dean said as he raised his shotgun, ready to fire.

But Alina didn't move. She stayed in the middle of the circle and smiled sadly at the spirits. "I'm sorry. It'll be over soon." And just like that, they all vanished. Dean lowered his weapon, watching the girl standing silently at the same spot, staring at the ground before wiping the tears away from her cheeks.

And when she finally turned to them and gave them her usual reassuring smile, Dean gave the shotgun to his brother without an hesitation and quickly walked towards the girl to wrap his arms around her. He'd never hugged her with so much strength, and she didn't seem to mind, since she was also pressing her body against him.

She now knew she was never in danger with those spirits, but it didn't stop her from being more than relieved to be back with her boys. Dean pulled away from the girl for a moment to check her face, and make sure she wasn't hurt. "Are you okay?" He asked hurriedly with both his hands on her cheeks. "Tell me they didn't do anything to you."

Alina smiled and shook her head. She wanted to give him a proof that she was still herself, so she did what she would usually do in this kind of situation. "I thought you trusted me, Winchester."

The way she was making fun of him by referring to his little speech about her, made him scoff and hug her one more time. He just didn't want to let go, and neither did she.

But when she noticed Sam standing behind his brother with a smile on his face, she slowly took a step away from Dean and went to hug her friend too. He was the one who'd figured it all out, and without him she would probably still be locked in that room. "Thanks Wonder Twin." She whispered to him.

"Anytime." He replied, hugging her back for a little while before they separated from each other and they all went to check on the couple outside of the room.

"You alright?" Alina asked Kat, knowing how scared she'd been.

"Yeah. Thank you." The hunter could read in the girl's eyes how much she was grateful for the way she'd protected her and got her out, but Alina didn't feel like she deserved that.

"It's okay. Sam was right they didn't wanna hurt us in the first place, they were trying to help us." She turned back to the Winchesters. "One thirty-seven. That's all he told me."

The brothers took a moment before they looked at each other and said in synch : "Room number."

Alina smirked. "Aren't you guys adorable."

Dean sighed at her comment, even if he wanted to smile because he was too happy to have her back to be annoyed by her sarcasm at this point. He took a new flashlight in Sam's bag before he looked at Kat and Gavin, still pretty shaken but refusing to show it for some reason. "So, now, are you guys ready to leave this place?

"That's an understatement." Kat answered immediately.

"Okay, Sam you get them outta here. Alina and I are going to go find room 137."

Alina gave the couple one last smile before she followed Dean down the hallway. They would be safe with Sam.

The two hunters were walking for a few minutes now, when Alina decided to break the silence with another joke. "You know, Winchester…I didn't think you could be one to give speeches."

Dean kept walking trying to hide his smile. "Yeah, you're welcome for saving your ass by the way."

She really was grateful for the way he'd calmed down Kat so she could get them out of the locked room. But the best way to thank him was to show him that she was perfectly fine. "Oh you mean just like I saved yours and Sam's so many times? You were right, I have no idea what you'd do without me."

Dean didn't respond this time, because he simply raised his flashlight and aimed it towards her face to blind her for a moment. He got hit in the arm for that, but it was worth it. They finally stopped in front of the room with the number 137 written on it.

"That's it." Dean announced. "Room 137."

Alina didn't know what they would find in that room, but she knew they would be able to help the patients trapped in the building. So she didn't think twice before following Dean inside.

The place was in a bigger mess than the rest of the Asylum, so they had to use their weight to push aside the broken furniture blocking the door, but that was already a big hint that something could be hidden here. It always had to be difficult for the hunters to find the answers. And they had to look around for a long time before Dean finally noticed a loose panel on the wall, and pried it off. Alina was still looking around the room, so he had to call her when he found a satchel full of papers. "Hey check this out."

Alina crouched next to him as he was now taking the satchel out of the wall. "This is why I get paid the big bucks."

"So why are you still broke, smart boy?"

Dean gave her a quick glare as she was smiling, before he opened the satchel and found a journal with many notes and hand-drawn pictures of medical instruments. It looked horrible, and Alina felt uneasy just looking at it, but she followed Dean anyway when he pulled up a chair to sit down, letting Alina read over his shoulder. Inside that journal, Dr. Ellicott was describing every experiments he'd done on the patients here, and it was disgusting. Now they knew who the real monster was.

"Well all work and no play makes Dr. Ellicott a very dull boy." Dean said in an attempt to lighten up the mood.

And it worked, because it made Alina laugh faintly behind him. But a quick noise behind them made them look up quickly and Alina's uneasiness came back instantly. Something felt off.

They kept reading the journal until they finally found the information they were looking for. Where the doctor's body could be hidden. They left room 137 to go find Sam, but when they got to the exit of the south wing, Dean suddenly pushed Alina back against the wall just as Kat was pulling the trigger. Alina would've jumped at the sound if Dean's hands weren't on her waist, to keep her from moving.

"Damn it, don't shoot!" Dean yelled at the girl on the other side of the wall. "It's us!"

"Sorry!"

" Son of a…" Dean sighed and looked back at Alina to make sure she was okay. She just nodded, relieved that he couldn't see the chills his hands on her waist were causing at the moment.

They separated and walked around the corner to see the marks left in the wall by the rock salt. It wouldn't have killed them, but it could've hurt really bad.

"What are you still doing here?!" Dean questioned the couple that was supposed to be gone already.

"Where's Sam?"

"He went to the basement." Gavin informed them, staring at Dean. "You called him."

Alina frowned at that since she was with him all along, and he'd never called his brother.

"I didn't call anybody."

"His cell phone rang." Kat insisted. "He said it was you."

The realization hit them. If it wasn't Dean, it had to be their new doctor friend. And that wasn't good.

"Basement, huh?" Dean looked around, then went through the bag Sam had left on the ground, giving Alina another gun and keeping two more with him. "Alright. Watch yourselves...and watch out for us!"

Alina loaded her gun with a faint smile. "Don't worry. He's always grumpy when people shoot him." And she left to catch up with her friend.

They quickly went to the basement where they started to look around.

"Sammy? Sam, you down here?" Dean called his brother.

"He better not jump scare us or I swear…"

But the moment the hunters turned around, they jumped back with their weapons raised when they saw Sam standing right in front of them. That was exactly what Alina was expecting.

"Man, answer us when we're calling you!" Dean scolded his brother. "You alright?"

"Yeah. I'm fine."

Something was wrong. Alina didn't know what it was but she had a weird feeling about the situation.

"You know it wasn't me who called your cell, right?"

"Yeah, I know. I think something lured me down here."

"We think we know who. Dr. Ellicott. That's what the spirits have been trying to tell us."

"You haven't seen him, have you?" Alina refused to let her paranoia get the best of her, but she still had to confirm she was wrong.

"No. How do you know it was him?"

"'Cause I found his log book." Dean proudly waved the journal. "Apparently he was experimenting on his patients, awful stuff. Makes lobotomies look like a couple of aspirin."

"But it was the patients who rioted."

"They were rioting against Dr. Ellicott." Alina continued, unaware of the way Sam was glaring at her angrily, since she was looking at the brother holding the journal. "That's why they've been trying to help us."

"Yeah. Dr. Feelgood was working on some sort of, like, extreme rage therapy. He thought that if he could get his patients to vent their anger then they would be cured of it. Instead it only made them worse and worse and angrier and angrier. So I'm thinking, what if his spirit is doing the same thing? To the cop? To the kids in the seventies, making them so angry they become homicidal... Come on, we gotta find his bones and torch them."

"How? The police never found his body."

"The log book said he had some sort of hidden procedure room down here somewhere where he'd work on his patients. So, if I was a patient I'd drag his ass down here, do a little work on it myself."

"I don't know, it sounds kinda..."

"Crazy?"

"Yeah."

"Yeah. Exactly."

Dean opened another door, looked inside quickly, then gestured with his head for the other two to follow. But the moment he disappeared in the room, Alina felt a huge wave of anger coursing throughout her body. With Dean gone, she could now feel Sam's true emotions. She got chills coming up her back but tried to hide how concerned she actually was when she turned to her friend controlled by the spirit of Dr Ellicott, and wasn't fast enough to dodge the punch.

She fell to the ground, not completely unconscious but dizzy enough not to get back up instantly. Everything around her was blurry and she couldn't hear anything until Sam pulled the trigger of the shotgun in the room next to her and shot his brother with the rock salt. The noise Dean's body made when he flew through the hidden door and broke it, was enough to bring Alina back to reality. Her face hurt, and the dark energy in the basement was almost pinning her to the ground.

But all of sudden, she felt multiple hands grabbing her arms and pushing her to help her get up. When she opened her eyes, she saw the patients surrounding her the same way they did back in the locked room. That was why she'd felt better in the hallway after entering the south wing, they were protecting her from Dr. Ellicott's energy when the brothers were too far away so she wouldn't get hurt by it.

"Sam!" The spirits all vanished when Alina's attention went back to Dean's voice. He was gasping for air and sounded in a lot of pain. Had Sam really shot him? No it wasn't Sam. "We gotta burn Ellicott's bones and all this will be over, and you'll be back to normal."

Alina put her hand on the wall to slowly walk towards the brothers' voices.

"I am normal. I'm just telling the truth for the first time. I mean, why are we even here? 'Cause you're following dad's orders like a good little solider? Because you always do what he says without question? Are you that desperate for his approval?"

"This isn't you talking, Sam."

"That's the difference between you and me. I have a mind of my own. I'm not pathetic, like you. You can't even tell Alina the truth about how you feel."

If she wasn't struggling to get to them, Alina would've probably wondered what he was talking about. But she didn't care at the moment because of what came next.

"So what are you gonna do, huh? Are you gonna kill me?"

"You know what, I am sick of doing what you tell me to do. We're no closer to finding dad today than we were six months ago."

"Well, then here. Let me make it easier for you."

Alina reached the doorway at the same time Dean who was lying on the ground, was holding the extra gun he'd taken before coming down the basement, towards Sam, standing above him in a threatening way.

"Come on. Take it. Real bullets are gonna work a hell of a lot better than rock salt."

Sam hesitated, but Dean insisted. "Take it!"

Alina could've been worried when she saw Sam taking the gun and pointing it at his brother's face, if she didn't know Dean any better. He wasn't crazy enough to trust someone controlled by a vengeful spirit with a loaded gun.

In fact that was a good opportunity for Alina to discreetly grab a broken piece of wood on the ground.

"You hate me that much? You think you could kill your own brother? Then go ahead. Pull the trigger. Do it!"

Alina didn't have time to be shocked when she heard Sam pulling the trigger. Of course the chamber was empty, but he was actually ready to shoot Dean. That was crossing the line. Alina stopped right behind him, lifted the piece of wood, and hit the back of Sam's head with an angry groan. Her friend fell on the side and it was now his turn to be unable to get back up. Alina let her 'weapon' fall next to her, panting in relief.

"Why does it always have to be me stopping you two from killing each other?"

She made Dean smile at her and lift his hand so she could grab it and help him stand up. Once he was back on his feet, he moved to stand over Sam. "Man, I'm not going to give you a loaded pistol!"

"Easy Dean…" Alina warned him when Sam stared up at him. But he didn't seem to follow her advice since he violently punched Sam with a right cross that knocked him out completely. Alina sighed. She wasn't too happy about Dean being so aggressive with his brother, but she was also glad that her friend wouldn't be able to attack them anymore. That was for his own good in a certain way.

Dean patted his brother affectionately. "Sorry, Sammy." He then walked back to Alina and took her face in his hand to get a closer look at the blood dripping from her left eyebrow. "What happened? Are you alright?"

Alina could feel his thumb wiping away the blood that had reached her cheek, and relaxed at the soft contact. "Yeah…what about you?" She opened his jacket to see the little holes in his shirt. "I can't believe he shot you."

Even though his chest was still hurting from the impact, he knew he wasn't wincing from the pain when she gently brushed her fingers over his shirt. Yet she quickly pulled away her hand after his sudden reaction, afraid that she might've hurt him. "I'm sorry. Let's find that freak's body before Sam wakes up."

They both began to look around the hidden procedure room, pushing back the multiple curtains on their way with their guns raised in front of them. They stopped at the same time when they noticed the same tuft of what seemed to be hair, poking out of the corner of a closed cupboard. They carefully moved closer, and once Dean opened it, the vision and the smell of the mummified corpse stuffed inside made them flinch back.

"Oh, that's just gross." Dean complained, gagging at the smell.

"Yeah I think I'm gonna puke, let's hurry up." She took the salt in their bag and gave it to him so he could throw it on the body.

"Soak it up." He dropped the salt container, then took the small tin of kerosene Alina was handing him.

They were ready to take the lighter out of the bag when a gurney suddenly came flying across the room and knocked Dean to the ground.

"Dean!" Alina tried to reach the bag that was sent away with him, but the moment Dr Ellicott's spirit grabbed Dean's face with his hands lighting up, she felt the same sharp pain as her friend in her temples and fell to the ground. She could hear him moaning in pain while she was struggling to get back on her feet, shaking from the electricity that was sent in her head.

"Don't be afraid. I'm going to help you. I'm going to make you all better."

She was in so much pain, she didn't notice Dean reaching his bag with one hand, finding the lighter to flick it on, and toss it at the mummified body.

When he realized that his body was burning, the spirit let go of Dean, which released him and Alina from the pain. Dean crawled out of the way to go take Alina in his arms and protect her from the angry spirit that was slowly getting up. They watched him as he stared at his hands turning black, and the last thing he saw was the two hunters in front of him before his entire body turned black, fell to the ground, and broke into pieces like a statue.

Dean and Alina were both panting when they sighed in relief and the girl let her head rest on his shoulder.

However, they had to look over at Sam who was just waking up behind them, flexing his jaw painfully.

"You're not going to try and kill us, are you?" Dean asked him to make sure he was back to his normal self.

Sam looked at him, then at Alina, noticing the blood on her face. "No." He didn't know what else to say after hurting them like that.

"Good. Because that would be awkward."

To their surprise, Alina let out a small chuckle. Maybe she was tired, maybe she was just glad they were alright, or maybe Sam had hit her a little too hard, but she couldn't stop herself from laughing. "Hey you guys remember when we were kids and we used to wake up in the middle of the night while Bobby was asleep to do pillow fights? When did it all go wrong?"

She first got a confused silent from the boys, until Dean decided to laugh with her and Sam sadly smiled at her. Her friend felt so bad for hurting her, seeing her so joyful didn't even make him feel better about the situation.

LATER

The hunters weren't surprised to see the sun already up when they finally got out of the Asylum with Kat and Gavin.

"Thanks, guys." Kat said, looking exhausted.

"Yeah. Thanks."

They all smiled at the couple, at least they were fine.

"No more haunted Asylums, okay?" Dean waited for them to nod to stop glaring at the two.

"No more haunted places at all." Alina turned specifically to Gavin, almost scolding the poor guy for his weird idea of a date.

Then the Winchesters and their friend watched them go to their car for a short moment before turning back to the Impala behind them. It had been a really long night.

"Hey, guys?" Sam called his brother and his best friend as they were getting ready to leave. "I'm sorry for what I did to you Alina. And Dean…man, I said some awful things back there."

"You remember all that?"

Alina didn't think it was possible either, since it wasn't supposed to be him. She thought he'd forgot about everything.

"Yeah. It's like I couldn't control it. But I didn't mean it, any of it."

"You didn't, huh?"

"No, of course not! Do we need to talk about this?"

Alina wanted them to talk about it, because the more they kept all these things to themselves, the more the were going to fight over the tiniest details for the rest of their trip. But Dean refused to talk, as always. "No. I'm not really in the sharing and caring kinda mood. I just wanna get some sleep." And just like that, he got in the car to show that he was done with the discussion.

Alina sighed and gave Sam an apologetic look. Of course she wasn't mad at him for hitting her, that was the spirit. But she felt bad for the brothers. That night didn't help the healing process of their already difficult relationship.

The young woman put her hand on the back of her friend to comfort him and bring him to the car with her. She also needed to sleep.

LATER

Alina walked out of the bathroom after taking a hot shower and cleaning her wounds. She smiled at Sam when he took his turn, as always being the last one to shower, and left the girl alone with his brother.

Dean was sitting on his bed, watching TV and probably waiting for Alina to come lie down next to him to let himself fall asleep. He still wanted to keep an eye on her, especially after their last disturbing case. And this time she wasn't going to complain about it, because she actually needed to talk to him about the little argument they had before she got locked up with Kat. She felt bad about the things she'd said.

"Dean?" She sat with her legs crossed next to him, completely turned towards the hunter who seemed too focused on the TV to even give her a quick glance. That wasn't a problem. Alina grabbed the remote in his hand and turned off the TV, finally getting an irritated look from him. "That's better." She smiled satisfied.

"Okay what do you want?"

She didn't like his tone so she threw the remote back on his leg, not aiming for his chest because she knew it still hurt for a while after getting shot this close with rock salt. Dean noticed that and tried not to smile while rubbing his leg. "Don't throw stuff at me, Frenchy!"

"I wanted to apologize, idiot!"

"What? For what?"

She was pretty embarrassed by the subject, but she felt like she'd been unfair. So she calmed down and quickly looked away.

"For what I said about our hypothetical relationship. You were right I can't just assume things about you like I did, and I'm sorry if I made it sound like dating you would be the worst thing ever, because I don't think that. Sure, you've got your flaws, but you're also the most funny, loyal and caring guy I know. And even though I sometimes wish you were a little less protective, I love the way you always know how to make me smile even when I feel like crying my eyes out. So what I'm trying to say is…I definitely wouldn't mind dating you Winchester… Hypothetically! Of course…"

She cleared her throat once she was done, and gave him a shy smile that had to be cutest thing he'd ever seen until she closed her eyes and gently slapped herself in the face, since she was also hurt. "I just did a whole speech, didn't I?"

"Yeah you did." Dean was glad he didn't have to hide his smile this time, because he didn't think he would've been able to. He wasn't expecting her to say so many nice things about him that no one else had ever told him before. She just saw him in a way other people couldn't, and he felt so lucky to have her in his life. "Hey you know what, Frenchy? I definitely wouldn't mind dating you either… Hypothetically…"

"Right. Sure. It's all…hypothetical."

They kept staring at each other for a moment that felt like an eternity until they looked away, both trying to find something to do to avoid the awkwardness of the situation. Because both of them wanted that hypothetical relationship to be real, but neither of them could show it in case the other wouldn't share the same feelings.

After all, the friendship they had right now was one of the most precious things they just couldn't lose in their life. They needed each other or else they'd probably go insane.

"Okay…" Alina said after a long awkward silence. "Well…" She didn't know what to say so she raised her hand to put it next to her face, lifted one finger, and moved it while using a creepy voice to make it look like it was speaking. "Alina can't talk anymore, she needs to sleep."

That silly reference to The Shining, and the proud little grin that appeared on her lips right after doing her little sketch, were the last reasons Dean needed, to finally believe in all that soulmate crap he used to make fun of. He watched the girl giggling at her own joke, lying down next to him on the bed and closing her eyes. She just had to be so attractive. Why?

Dean scoffed and was about to turn the TV back on to get his attention on something else, but Alina didn't even open her eyes when she took the remote in his hand once again and put it under her pillow. "Go to sleep!"

"Yes ma'am!"

LATER

Alina was finally getting the rest she needed so badly, when she was suddenly woken up a few hours after falling asleep, by the ringing of Dean's phone next to her ear.

"Dean." Sam tried calling his brother, but Alina didn't feel him reacting next to her.

The young woman frowned with her eyes still closed and lazily pushed her friend next to her to wake him up. "Dean…"

After a few more failed attempts, she gave up and turned to Sam who now had the cell phone in his hand. "Just answer it." She said, getting tired of the sound echoing in her mind when she was still peacefully sleeping a few seconds ago.

"Hello?"

She tried to get comfortable again when she heard Sam taking the call, but the next thing she heard him say…

"Dad?"

…made her completely forget about how tired she still was.
