Alright, readers. Here is the eighth chapter of this story!
Now, this chapter took me less time to write out compared to the previous chapters. But that's because I was feeling seriously motivated into writing this chapter out. I hope that's alright.
Anyway, this chapter has Adam talk with Kerry about what happened to him at school, he reveals his crush on her and something beautiful comes out of it, Adam's parents find out what's been happening to Adam through his journal, and they do something about it, Pixiefrog gets a call, and some other stuff will occur. How will everything go for Adam from here? Read and find out now, everyone!
AT KERRY'S HOUSE - 5:12 P.M.
"I can't believe it," Adam was pacing back and forth as he was griping. "I just can't believe it!"
Adam was currently at Kerry's house, in which Kerry allowed him to come inside since her parents weren't home at the moment. The house wasn't anything special. It had some tables, vases, paintings on the walls, and other types of home decor most people would put up in their houses.
Along with that, there were also couches in the living room, a dining room table, and a table in the living room with a TV stand. And the TV on top of it, and a few other types of furniture. The house also had two floors just like Adam's house, so it was likely that the bathroom and Kerry's room were also upstairs.
Standing in the living room was Kerry, who had a thoughtful expression as she listened to Adam explain everything that had happened to him today, from the prank to cutting his friendship with Jake. She was surprised to have heard that come from Adam, who looked like he had reached his limit with the school.
"Wow Adam, I...I dunno what to say," she said slowly. "I'm sorry that you were put through all of that."
"Yeah. I had to go through three showers just to scrub and wash all the glue, feathers, tar, snakeskin, and powder off of my body," Adam stopped walking and faced her. "It was a total nightmare."
"I can tell," Kerry tucked her collar. "So I guess it's all over between you and Jake; friendship wise that is, right?"
"I'm afraid to say that it is over between us," Adam sighed. "All the times I helped him out when he needed it. And he always took me for granted and screwed me over as thanks."
"Yeah," Kerry decided to approach her close friend. "It mustn't have been easy for you to do that."
"In a way, it wasn't," Adam admitted. "But I just couldn't take his toxic influence anymore, and things with us were only stressing me out more. I had to face facts, he's been a bad friend to me since we met at that school. And honestly, I...I'm just not able to tolerate it anymore."
"Hey, Adam," Kerry said assuringly while placing her hand on his shoulder. "I just want you to know that you did the right thing. It usually isn't easy for anyone to want to get out of any toxic friendship. And you were finally able to man up and do what was right for yourself."
"Yeah," Adam tugged at his collar. "You know Kerry, this does remind me about how you were once friends with Chad."
"Well, we were friends. But I am no longer friends with him," Kerry had to be honest. "I couldn't stand how he was constantly bullying you and making fun of you. Especially after what happened on your 12th birthday. So I no longer have any interest in being friends with him again."
"I can see that," Adam was a little flattered by that. "I appreciate you doing that for me though."
"No problem, Adam. Truth is, I've known you longer than I've known Chad," Kerry recalled something that she wanted to share with him. "After all, we did spend our first Thanksgiving together at my house."
"Wow wee, don't I remember that," Adam remarked fondly, taking notice of Kerry's tone when she said that. "And both of our family members got together at your house for Thanksgiving dinner."
"Yeah. That was something, wasn't it," Kerry proclaimed. "Anyway, I'm glad that you decided to come over to my house to talk with me about what happened to you."
"Between you and me Kerry, I had decided on it since you were at my house for two nights in a row," Adam said. "So I thought it'd be nice if I came to your house for a change."
"Well, you know that I'm always cool with you coming over for anything," she told him. "And I'm glad that you decided to share with me what happened to you today."
"I was glad to share it with you too," Adam smiled sheepishly.
"Right," Kerry decided to bring up. "So anyway Adam, after what had happened today, do you think it would be better if you were transferred back to Chester Arthur Middle School? Especially how what Jake did to you was the final straw for you?"
"Honestly, I would love NOTHING more than to get transferred back to my old school," Adam confessed. "Even though it wasn't perfect there, at least I would know that I wouldn't have animals trying to make me their next lunch during the school day. Nor would I worry about being trampled and stampeded over by the larger classmates. And I wouldn't have a monkey for a best friend that would constantly stab me in the back any chance he gets."
"I see," Kerry said sheepishly. "Anyhow, do you think that there will be a chance that the school board will be notified of the clerical error if your parents find out about this?"
"I sincerely doubt that it will ever happen," Adam had a sad tone in his voice. "Even if it was possible, my parents are barely ever home to see me. That means I never really have any time to talk with them about it. Especially since I told them that I can manage to go to an all-animal school. After what happened today, I'm not sure how I can break it with them."
"Don't worry about it Adam," Kerry assured him. "Just tell them when you get the chance too."
"Your right, Kerry," he said. "I'll be sure to explain it to them the first chance I get."
"Great. That's the spirit," she seemed thrilled to hear him say that.
"Yup," Adam shifted nervously as he decided to say. "So Kerry? There's something else that I'd like to tell you."
"Sure. What do you want to tell me?" Kerry had a thoughtful smile on her face as she was curious.
"Uhhh, well," Adam started meekly. "Can we sit on the couch in the living room while I tell you?"
"Of course," Kerry was all for that before she offered. "Hey, would you like to have a soda? I think we still have some root beer left."
"Oh boy, that would be lovely," Adam smiled dreamily.
"Great. Just make yourself comfortable on the couch," Kerry headed for the kitchen. "And I'll be right there shortly."
"Got it," Adam nodded as he raced towards the couch and sat there. While he was waiting, he had some thoughts pop up in his head.
You can do it, Adam. You can do it. Just tell Kerry how you feel about her. Adam thought. Just tell her that you have a crush on her, that she has always been the apple of your eye, and that you are fond of her. And that she's attractive. Don't hold back. This is your chance at winning her over. Just be honest about your feelings for her.
He kept those thoughts to himself as he continued to wait on the couch for Kerry to come back. After a few moments, Kerry came back into the living, with two cans of root beer in her hands.
"Hey, Adam. I'm back," she informed him. "I got us two root beers. For the both of us."
"That's great," he gleamed as he took the one Kerry held out for him. "Thank you."
"No problem," Kerry smiled as she then plopped onto the couch, right next to Adam, who had opened his can and started drinking from it. "It's good, right?"
"You bet," Adam sighed in relief. "I appreciate you doing this for me."
"Anytime, Adam," Kerry opened her can and sipped from it before placing the can on the table. "Now, what is it that you want to tell me? My dad won't be home for a while, and my mom's at work. So it'll be just the two of us for now."
"Alright. Here's what it is," Adam put his can down and turned to face Kerry. "You know, we've been best friends for a long time, haven't we?"
"We sure have Adam," Kerry smiled warmly as she scooted over to Adam. "And there have been times where we have had each other's backs too."
"Absolutely," Adam said enthusiastically before getting down to business. "Anyway, there has been something else on my chest for quite a while, and...I've been meaning to share it with you..."
"Well, I don't think it should be anything major since we've been through a lot," Kerry told him. "So let's hear it."
"Alrighty," Adam took a deep breath and started. "Well, you see...first of all Kerry, I dunno if I ever told you this, but...uhhh...I always thought that you were the...uhh...most beautiful...g-g-girl that I've ever gotten the pleasure...gulp...to know..."
"Oh Adam," Kerry said as she slightly blushed. "I'm flattered that you think of me that way."
"Yup. And also, I think...you're very..." Adam gulped anxiously before continuing. "Cute, and very attractive... And you are 'definitely' a lot of fun to hang out with. And uhhh... there's never a dull moment when we spend time together like this. Alone."
Kerry's blush was darkening the longer Adam was talking sweetly about her. "Awww, go on Adam..."
"And any man would be lucky to have you. Which reminds me," Adam stuttered as he tried mustering up more courage to say what he had to do next. "In all honesty, Kerry...A-After we've known each other for so long, and I...well, I always feel these warm...gulp...f-fuzzy feelings everything I'm near you...And, well, I...I...I..."
"I what, Adam?" Kerry wondered sweetly. She had a feeling what Adam was trying to tell her, but she wanted to hear it from him, as her cheeks were rosy red by this point.
"Well, uhhh...the truth is...I...from the bottom of my heart, and my feelings, I...I...I..." Adam gulped and took a deep breath before coming out with it. "I have a crush on you."
"WHAT?!" Kerry yelped as her face was completely red from blushing at what Adam revealed to her.
"Yes, Kerry. Yes. It's...It's true. I do have a crush on you," Adam sighed as he hang his head down. "I've felt this way about you for as long as I can remember. You are a beautiful, attractive, and pretty hot lady. You're also very nice, kind and friendly. You have always been nice to me, you never treated me like garbage, and you enjoyed having me around."
Adam took a deep breath as his tone deepened a bit. "I...I dunno if I'm the right guy for you, but...I do think that any guy would be lucky to have you. The fact of the matter is, I do have feelings for you. I'm...I-I'm sorry if I come off as a creep, but...I can't help it. I 'really' do have a crush on you. I just hope I didn't overwhelm you, and I hope you understand why I feel this way about you. I don't mind if you reject me and that I'm not the guy you wanted... But I just wanted to get it off my chest. That's all that I have to say about it."
As soon as Adam finished, he turned away from Kerry and looked down towards the floor. Silence had clouded the two of them for several minutes, as Kerry's mouth was agape as she was surprised by what Adam just revealed to her. Did he seriously think of her like that? Were his feelings for her 100% true?
They must be since they came straight from Adam's heart, and he meant everything he said. Kerry was still blushing profusely as a thousand thoughts had crossed her mind, as well as several instances in the past where Adam was attempting to woo her and impress her. The more she thought about it, the more she started to piece it all together.
I guess that would explain all those times he tried to impress me by acting like a real man, especially during the mustache debacle... Kerry thought. Honestly, Adam is such a sweet and terrific guy, and it makes me wonder why any girl hasn't wanted him yet. Perhaps I should come out with my 'own' feelings regarding Adam.
Keeping those thoughts in mind, Kerry cleared her throat and decided to speak. "Wow. Adam, that's very sweet of you. I should be surprised by this though, but I'm not since I've been thinking of how you interacted with me in the past. But the truth is, I have something that I'd like to tell you too."
"What is it?" Adam asked in a rather glum tone as Kerry placed her arm on his shoulder.
"Listen, Adam, I think it's time to get this off my chest, but...the truth is," Kerry took a deep breath before revealing. "I have feelings for you too."
"Alright. I knew it. I knew that you wouldn't be interested in hooking up with a guy like-wait," Adam flinched from what he heard before he slowly turned around to face her; with a blush covering his cheeks. "What did you say?"
"You heard me, Adam," she gave him a sly smirk. "I happen to have a crush on you too. I dunno how it happen, but I suppose it's from all those times when you did your best to impress me, and you kept on going even after every time you humiliated yourself. You are a gentleman, and you are pretty handsome around the eyes."
"Really?" Adam had to gasp at what she said. It's as if his voice had hitched a breath for a second there.
"Yes. Really," Kerry started talking in a slightly seductive manner towards him as she inched closer to his face. "And to be honest, there is no other guy who's as sweet and good-looking as you. And I bet you would look amazing one day when you grow an actual mustache, and own a real car. The bottom line is, I 'really' feel the same way about you. And you happen to be the apple of my eye."
"Wow," he said in awe, as a goofy grin started forming on his face, with his heart pounding in his chest. "You know, it took me ages just to muster up the courage to tell you how I feel about you. I was pretty worried about if you'd reject me or not."
"Well worry no more Adam," she whispered in his ears with a stronger seductive tone. "I could never possibly think of rejecting you either. And to prove that I never would think of doing that, I'd like to give you something."
"What is it?" Adam queried, raising an eyebrow.
"This," without saying another word, Kerry went on ahead and pecked him right on the cheek.
The redhead kid was a little shocked by that stunt, but eventually, his lovestruck expression deepened further on his face as he felt like he was in heaven. He 'actually' had trouble saying anything coherent for a moment or so, until he found his voice.
"Gosh, Kerry. That was wonderful," he admitted dreamily to the tan-skinned long-haired girl who was in front of him. "And really. You have also been the apple of my eye for as long as I can remember."
"I can tell. You always had a way with words. And with your actions, I suppose," Kerry giggled. "By the way, I would love to be your partner. And I would love to date you."
"Really?" Adam felt his breath hitch again as he asked that.
"Oh yes," she nodded. "The two of us would make a great match, especially when we're teenagers and eventually adults. And I would love to be your girlfriend. Provided that you'll agree to be my boyfriend."
"Oh yes! Yes, that would be great!" Adam beamed. "Thank you so much for this Kerry! I'll be sure that you never regret this!"
"It's my pleasure, Adam. And I already know that I won't," Kerry smirked as she embraced Adam. "And since all of this stuff has been made official, I'm 'definitely' going have you be my date for the Debutante Ball at CAMS. No one else is going to that dance with me but you."
"And I look forward to that too," Adam agreed, returning the embrace. "I think I'm gonna love this setup between us."
"Me too, Adam. Me too," Kerry remarked as they stopped embracing and stared at each other. "Anyway, how would you like to have some fun with me in my house for a bit?"
"Would I?" Adam was ecstatic about this.
"Great. Dad won't be home for a couple more hours. So the two of us could have some fun. Just you and me," Kerry smiled. "On our first official date together."
"Oh boy. I already look forward to this," Adam chirped. "You know, this is the beginning of something beautiful between us Kerry."
"Yup. And I wouldn't miss this for anything," Kerry agreed as she grabbed her can of root beer. "So, shall we watch some television together? Just the two of us?"
"That would be great," he accepted as he grabbed his can of root beer. "I already look forward to tonight."
"Same here," she grabbed the TV remote and turned it on, before lifting her can of root beer. "Here's to a wonderful night together, and a great and beautiful relationship being shared between the two of us."
"I'm all for that," Adam held his can of root beer up. "Cheers?"
"Cheers," she then clinked her can against Adam's can, and he did the same before both of them started drinking simultaneously. "Let's make the best of tonight, shall we Adam?"
"You got it, Kerry," he smiled as they sat close together and watched some TV while drinking root beer.
They had their arms on each others' shoulders as they sat there happily while watching whatever they could find interesting on television. This was going to be a long and beautiful night for the two of them...
Quite some time had passed since the confession was made. And Adam was so caught up in his date with Kerry, he didn't pay much attention to the time. Aside from watching TV, the two of them had some dinner together. Since Adam cooked last night's dinner, Kerry decided to return the favor.
And just like last night, she decided to heat one of those frozen pre-cooked dinners for the two of them. This time they settled for a simple lasagna dinner. It was decent and both of them enjoyed it. Afterwards, they cleaned up from dinner, such as doing the dishes and such. They then partook in several other activities together, such as playing video games, reading some comic books, and a few other things.
Currently, the two of them were lying on the couch together as they continued to watch some TV together. Tonight had been a wonderful night for both of them, and the expressions on their faces sold it.
"Ahhh. Well, Adam, tonight has been another wonderful night we've spent together, huh?" Kerry sighed happily.
"You said it Kerry," Adam agreed. "And I wouldn't have missed it for anything."
"Me neither," Kerry turned to face Adam with a slightly suggestive expression. "You know, I'm glad that I settled on us being a couple and all."
"I'm glad about that too," Adam smiled. "It feels like moments like these come only once in a lifetime."
"Yeah," Kerry nodded. "It does feel like it."
"Yup," Adam sighed. "Kerry? Thank you for tonight."
"No. No. Thank you, Adam," Kerry corrected. "I'm flattered and grateful that you told me about your feelings for me."
"I know. I'm just glad that this happened," Adam proclaimed. "And this time, there's no Jake that could 'possibly' ruin this for the two of us."
"You said it," Kerry said with her visible eye half-lidded. "You know, I'm glad that we decided to become a couple."
"Me too," Adam smiled gleefully.
At that moment, neither one of them said a word as they leaned their faces toward each other. Without thinking, they closed their eyes and puckered their lips. In a matter of seconds, their lips met and touched, as the two of them were engaging in an actual kiss. As they were doing this, Adam felt ecstatic. After all the times he tried kissing Kerry, with someone or something interrupting them, he was happy that they were finally doing it.
Whoa. So this is what a kiss feels like. Adam thought happily. At last, we're finally kissing. I've been waiting my whole life for us to start kissing like this! And nothing is ruining for us this time! Yippee!
Kerry, meanwhile, was taking all of this in. Sure, she always liked Adam. And yeah, she always wondered what it'd be like if she was 'actually' dating him. But the kiss was something else. She didn't think that kissing Adam would've felt this good, at first that is. So this was a heavenly experience for her.
W-Wow. I'm 'actually' kissing Adam Lyon... Kerry thought. I never expected kissing this guy would be so much fun. Well, I guess I was wrong about that. I guess Adam is a kissable guy, and he's lucky to have someone like me dating him...
The two of them kissed for a couple more moments before their lips separated, and both of them were gasping and panting out of amazement and excitement. Adam especially was feeling overjoyed by what just happened.
"Wow...I, wow..." Adam gasped dreamily. "Kerry...that...that felt wonderful..."
"Yeah...Didn't it...?" Kerry was also panting. "Wow. I never thought you would be such a good kisser."
"Y-You think so?" Adam's breath hitched for a second as he asked.
"Yup. I know so," Kerry smirked. "You 'really' are a keeper Adam."
"Yeah. I've been wanting to kiss you for as long as I can remember," Adam confessed. "All my life I was wondering how glorious it would be for us to kiss. And now it finally happened, with no interruptions."
"Well, since you enjoyed it so much, how about we go for seconds? Hmmm?" Kerry suggested seductively.
"Wow wow wee woo! Oh boy! Would I?!" Adam seemed a little too eager by her suggestion. It's as if he has finally gotten her into his pants.
Kerry couldn't help but giggle at how eager he was to go along with this. After that, they then puckered their lips and engaged in another kiss. This time, it was more passionate and it lasted longer, as they eventually embraced each other.
It was quite obvious that the two of them were fully enjoying the moment together. They had fun touching tongues and tasting the sweet sensation of each others' lips. The two of them could engage in this forever if they could.
Unfortunately, all good things had to come to an end. As they were still kissing, a car horn was heard from outside, spooking the both of them as they then separated from the kiss they were sharing. Adam, in particular, was a little shaken up by that.
"Woah! W-What was that?" Adam asked in a stutter.
Kerry, on the other hand, knew what that was. "Uh oh. Looks like my dad's home. That's his car."
"Your dad's home?" Adam queried.
"Yup," Kerry nodded. "Listen, Adam, I think maybe you should be heading home. It's already late."
"Right. I guess I should," Adam said as he got up from the couch. "Well, I had a wonderful night tonight Kerry."
"Same here Adam," Kerry agreed as she watched Adam head for the door. "Well, I hope to see you again tomorrow."
"Don't worry. I'll make sure of it," Adam turned the doorknob and opened the door. "Well, goodnight Kerry."
"You too Adam," Kerry told him. "Goodnight."
"Right," Adam then walked out the door and closed it behind him.
As soon as he got out, he saw the headlights of the car that was in the driveway flashing at him. Adam had to place his right hand over his eyes since it was so bright. He couldn't see who was in the car. But from the figure, it was 'definitely' Kerry's father. Adam was unable to say anything, but Kerry's father was able to say something.
"Whoa. Adam Lyon, is that you?" He asked.
"Uh-huh," Adam smiled sheepishly as he nodded. "Sorry, Mr. Anderson. Well, guess I'll be going home now."
"Okay. Have a good one, Mr. Lyon," Kerry's father called out as Adam walked away from the front door and away from the house. Adam wasted no time as he decided to head back into his own house. He was unaware of what was waiting for him back at home...
AT ADAM'S HOUSE - 8:45 P.M.
Meanwhile, back at Adam's house, it was apparent that his parents had gotten home earlier than they usually do. Their appearance wasn't anything noteworthy, for the most part. Both of them were the usual height most parents are at; as in, being taller than Adam.
The father had the same hairstyle as Adam, only his hair was colored brown instead of orange. The mother, meanwhile, did have the same colored hair as Adam, but it was longer, and it was draped over her shoulders. She also had some freckles on her face, not unlike the ones that Adam has on their face.
Their figures were best summed up as being natural for the typical mother and father figures. They were both wearing their work suits, with the father wearing long johns, while the mother was wearing a work skirt. Both of them usually wore ties, but they had recently taken them off when they got home.
Currently, both of them were sitting on the couch as they were feeling conflicted about something. They had seen the journal that Adam left behind on the desk that he forgot about, and they had just finished looking through it and read everything Adam had written so far.
Now, before reading what was written in the journal, the parents didn't give much thought or concern about how their son was going to a middle school for zoo animals. Not to mention Adam usually hid any problems that he had at the school from them, by simply saying that he just had a typical day of school.
Not that it mattered since Adam barely saw his parents at all when he got home from school. And on most nights, he would be in bed by the time they got home. This night was different since they were let out a little earlier than normal.
At the moment, they were unsure about what to do about Adam's predicament. They were feeling doubt that they should have corrected the school board in the first place. But since they were usually very busy during the day, the thought never really crossed their mind.
But now, they were reconsidering doing something about this. Of course, they had to discuss it with Adam first before they make any moves. And as of right now, they had noticed that Adam was missing. So all they could do was wait for him to get home.
After a few minutes of silence, the mother finally decided to speak. "Honey? I...I dunno what to say about this."
"I know dear," the father placed his hand on her shoulder. "To think that our only son has been having problems with adapting to that animal school since he first got transferred there."
"And it also mentioned this Nurse Gazelle doing something to our poor baby," the mother muttered. "I can't believe it."
"Now honey, we have to wait to hear from Adam himself. We can't just jump to conclusions," the father informed her. "Though I would like to know a few things about how this Jake Spidermonkey kept treating our son so poorly."
"Yeah. It makes us feel that we should have corrected the clerical error in the first place," the mother proclaimed. "It makes me think of the time that he stayed home sick from school. But all we can do is wait for Adam to get back here."
"That's right sweetheart," the father agreed with her. "We'll find out more from him when he gets back."
Several moments later, the door opened up and Adam came into the house. He had seen his parents' car right outside the driveway, which gave him the impression that they got home earlier than usual. And when he stepped into the house and saw them on the couch, he was correct. As soon as he closed the door behind him, he greeted them.
"Oh, hi Mom. Hi Dad," Adam greeted them both. "I didn't expect to see you guys home so early."
"Well son, your mother and I were let out of work earlier than we usually are let out," his father explained. "So that's why we're home at this hour."
"I see," Adam tugged on his collar. "I was just over at Kerry's house for a bit. We were hanging out, you know?"
"That's fine sweetie," the mother remarked. "We're just glad that you got back home safely."
"Yeah," Adam walked into the living room and stood right in front of the TV. "So uhhh...what's going on? Is there something that you want to talk with me about?"
"'Actually' son, yes. There is something we need to talk about," the father proclaimed. "You see when we got home, we decided to unwind in the living room, and we found a book that belonged to you."
"Y-You did?" Adam gulped, wondering where they were getting at.
"Yes, sweetie. And it happened to be a journal that you were writing in," his mother revealed to him. "And we did end up reading everything that you wrote in it so far."
"What?" Adam gasped. Shoot! I forgot all about my journal!
He then gulped before asking them. "A-Am I in trouble?"
"No son. You are not in trouble. But we would like to ask you a question," the father started. "Is everything that you wrote in this journal true? Has that animal school been giving you a really hard time?"
"And has this Jake Spidermonkey 'really' been treating you like garbage since you've been transferred to that school?" The mother asked him.
Adam had to sigh. The jig was up, and his parents knew about it. There was no dancing around the truth here. He had to be completely honest with them.
"Yes. It's true," he admitted shamefully. "All of it is true. I've been treated poorly at CDMS, and Jake had been a terrible friend to me."
"Even the part where this Nurse Gazelle did something fresh to you that she shouldn't have done to you?" The mother queried.
Adam could only nod at that. He couldn't go into details about that since it was far too uncomfortable. Not even to his parents.
Seeing the discomfort on his face, the father decided to move on by asking him. "Sport? Why did you feel that you couldn't just come to us and tell us about what has been happening to you there?"
"Well, you guys have been very busy. And you're at work for most of the day," Adam explained. "And I barely get to see you guys anymore. And even when I did, I felt that it wouldn't be important and that you didn't care about what's been happening to me."
"Sweetie, listen to me," the mother had to assure him. "Of course, we care about you. You are our son, and we value you. We are always here to help you whenever something like this happens."
"That's right son," the father agreed. "We might be very busy with our jobs and all, but that doesn't mean that we'll never make time to help you out when it's needed."
"You guys mean that?" Adam questioned.
"Of course, we mean it, honey," the mother proclaimed. "Your our son and we love you. And we would be devastated if anything happened to you, especially if you get eaten alive at that animal school."
"Your mother's right sport," the father agreed. "There would be nothing that could stop us from helping you out if you are having some serious problems."
"Wow," Adam smiled. "Thanks, Mom and Dad. That makes me feel better."
"You're welcome Adam," both of them said in unison.
"I'm not in trouble for being at Kerry's house longer than I should have been, am I?" Adam questioned in concern.
"Oh no, no. Of course, you aren't," the father exclaimed. "We just wanted to find out about what's been happening to you at that school, and if all of this was true."
"Okay," Adam sighed in relief before asking. "Now what should we do about this?"
"We don't know yet sweetheart," the mother told him. "But for now, you head on upstairs and get ready for bed. And we'll see what we can do tomorrow, okay?"
"Sure thing, Mom," Adam let out a yawn. "I'm a little tired anyway. I'll think about this some more in the morning."
"Good idea, son," the father said as Adam headed up the stairs. "We'll see you tomorrow, okay?"
"Alright. Goodnight Mom and Dad," he called out to them. "I love you, and I'll see you tomorrow."
"We love you too Adam," the mother spoke for both of them. "Sweet dreams honey, and we'll talk more tomorrow."
"Right," Adam nodded before he went upstairs into his room, where he decided to get ready for bed.
As soon as Adam was upstairs and completely out of earshot, the father decided to ask his wife the all-important question. "Seriously honey, what are we going to do about this?"
"I'll tell you what we're gonna do about this," the mother proclaimed in a determined manner. "Tomorrow we're gonna get a hold of the school board and get our son's last name corrected like it should have been in the first place."
"Right," the father nodded in understanding. "And we should also contact the principal of Charles Darwin Middle School; Principal Pixiefrog, and have him allow our son to get transferred back to his old school."
"That's exactly what I was thinking honey," the mother said. "Our son has been suffering at that school for too long. It's time that justice gets served for Adam after all that he's been through there."
"And if the principal gives us problems, then we're gonna get some lawyers involved," the father added. "And they'll sue the school for us, right?"
"Exactly," she nodded. "We wouldn't want anymore trouble happening to our little boy. Especially from this Jake Spidermonkey character."
"Yeah. You know dear," the father had to confess. "I'm proud that our son finally stood up for himself and broke things off with Jake after being a horrible friend to him. He's becoming more like his old man."
"I sure would hope so," the mother had to giggle at that. "Anyway sweetie, we should probably get something to eat and then turn in for the night as well."
"Good idea honey," the father was all for that. "Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for us, especially with what we'll be doing to help our son get sent back to Chester Arthur Middle School."
"That's right," the mother nodded and stood up. "Now come on. Let's get something to eat."
"I'm way ahead of you, babe," the father stood up from the couch too.
Without saying anything else, Mr. and Mrs. Lyon went into the kitchen to get something to eat before turning in for the night. Tomorrow was going to be the beginning of some big changes for Adam. And they were very big changes indeed. That was a guarantee...
AT CHARLES DARWIN MIDDLE SCHOOL - 7:09 A.M.
A brand new day has arrived in Glendale. And at Charles Darwin Middle School, all of the faculty and staff members arrived early to get things started for the day.
Outside of Principal Pixiefrog's office, in particular, we see Mrs. Warthog sitting at her desk, with the computer in front of her, as she had just gotten done sorting out the files. She also got a call from the school board a few minutes ago. And from what she got, Pixiefrog needed to know about it as soon as he arrived.
Several minutes later, the door leading to her office had slammed open. And stepping inside was Principal Pixiefrog himself, as he was wearing his usual outfit. He also had a hat on his head, and he had a small cup of coffee in his right hand. He hopped over to the hat hanger and placed his hat on top of it before he turned to his assistant.
"Good morning Mrs. Warthog," he greeted her.
"Morning PF," she returned the greeting.
"I take it that everything is looking to be in tip-top shape for today," Pixiefrog proclaimed casually. "You got all of those files taken care of?"
"Yes PF," Warthog said indifferently. "Each one has been examined and is accounted for."
"Ah, great," Pixiefrog smiled. "It does my pollywog heart good to know that my beloved assistant can get the files done before the school opens up with packs of students entering our establishment."
As soon as he said that, Pixiefrog decided to drink some of his coffee as he was shown sipping it. While he was doing that, Mrs. Warthog decided to give him the news that she needed to share.
"Oh, by the way, Mr. PF, I got a phone call this morning," she explained to him. "It's from the school board."
Right then and there, Pixiefrog took a spit take as he spat all the coffee he was drinking out, hitting Mrs. Warthog in the face. It was fortunate that Warthog didn't even react to this stunt since she had expected it to happen.
"What?!" Pixiefrog yelled out. "The school board had called us this early in the morning?"
"That's right," Warthog confirmed. "And they called to let us know that they had fixed the clerical error for the last name of one of our students."
Now Pixiefrog had felt his heart pounding in his throat. He had a bad feeling about this. And he felt that he knew exactly who the student in particular was.
"Uhhh...Mrs. Warthog?" Pixiefrog asked nervously. "Which student of ours is the school board referring to?"
"Well, I'm not gonna give any names, since it should be obvious," Mrs. Warthog remained apathetic when she said that. "But the last name happens to be Lyon."
Oh no! It can't be! Pixiefrog thought anxiously as he then proceeded to ask. "Wait, are you talking about...?"
Before he could finish, the phone in his office was ringing, causing Pixiefrog to jump and drop his small cup of coffee. As if the day couldn't get any worse, now this happens.
"Oh, PF," Warthog pointed out. "The phone in your office is going off. It's for you."
"I know where my phone is Mrs. Warthog," Pixiefrog said in slight annoyance. "Good grief, let's see what this is about..."
Without saying another word, Principal Pixiefrog headed for his office, and climbed up onto his desk, which was set up like a frog's pond; lilypads and all. As soon as he was on top of his, he hopped towards the ringing phone and decided to answer it.
"Yes? Hello? This is Principal Pixiefrog's office. How may I help you?" Pixiefrog spoke into the receiver.
The next few minutes were spent having a one-sided phone call from Pixiefrog's end, as Pixiefrog listened carefully to what was being said.
"Huh? Mr. and Mrs. Lyon? Oh! Oh, your Adam's parents! Oh, well how may I help you? Huh? What's that? Are you saying the school board fixed the clerical error for Adam's last name? He is no longer needed to come to our school. And we got to transfer him back to Chester Arthur Middle School? Oh no! Do you know what that means!? We'll lose student funding if he's transferred back!"
It didn't take long for things to quickly escalate further than they already were, as Pixiefrog's voice started raising in panic. "Huh? Wait, what? Huh? Your...Your saying that I have to transfer him or you'll do what?! No! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! We don't need to do that! O-Of course...We'll be sure to settle things on our end. Right. We'll get Adam Lyon back to his old life at his human school as soon as possible. Right...Well...T-Thanks for calling and letting us know...Kay. Bye-bye."
At that moment, the phone call ended, as Pixiefrog stormed into Mrs. Warthog's office and started screaming. "WARTHOOOOOOOOOOOOG!? We got a code-blue situation on our hands!"
"Lemme guess," Mrs. Warthog took a dry guess. "It has something to do with the phone call that you just got, right?"
"That's precisely it," Pixiefrog nodded. "That was Adam's parents on the phone. 'Apparently', they want us to transfer Adam back to his old school; Chester Arthur Middle School since the school board fixed the clerical error involving his last name. Now we'll be losing some of our student funding."
"Oh, gee," Warthog rolled her eyes at that.
"Wait Mrs. Warthog, it gets worse," Pixiefrog held his hands out. "They also said that if we don't comply, they're gonna get some lawyers involved to sue the school! Don't you get what I'm saying Mrs. Warthog!? WE'LL BE UP TO OUR KNEES IN LAWSUITS IF WE DON'T SEND HIM BACK!"
"Oh wow. What a surprise," Mrs. Warthog was pretty sarcastic with her tone. "I wonder how that happened?"
"Well, it seems that word about what happened yesterday got out and they found out what happened to their son," Pixiefrog deduced. "I can't believe it. If we let Adam go, we'll lose student funding. But if we don't, we'll get sued. There's just no winning this one Warthog. We'll be losing money either way."
"Yeah," Warthog huffed. "It may also have something to do with all of Jake's antics at this school, in which ALL of them had us pin the blame on Adam, and you punished Adam Lyon for something Jake did since he first came to our school."
"WHAAAAAAAT!?" Pixiefrog bellowed again. "You mean to tell me that all those times I've been harsh on young Lyon and had given him detentions for things that went wrong, they were all Jake's faults!?"
"Exactly," Mrs. Warthog said before she muttered dryly. "Took you long enough to figure that one out."
"Well, now I know the truth. But nothing's gonna change it now," Pixiefrog moaned in sadness. "We either transfer Lyon back to CAMS, or we'll lose money from a lawsuit. I haven't felt this upset since Trunks Elephant sued us for cashews instead of regular grade-A elephant peanuts."
"Well, it could be worse PF," Warthog told him. "Superindendant Wolverine could've been informed about this. And he would be threatening to bite us on the buttock to do something about it."
"Don't remind me," Pixiefrog deadpanned. "I'm still glad that I became the principal at this school again before he got the chance to do that."
"Yeah," Mrs. Warthog sighed. "So PF, are you going to do something to punish Spidermonkey or what?"
"One thing at a time Warthog," Pixiefrog told her sharply. "First I gotta make the arrangements for Adam to go back to CAMS. Then I can punish Jake. 'In fact', I got a whole list of punishments that I'm going to make for young Spidermonkey. After all, all of this was his fault, and it's his fault that Adam is going to be transferred from here in the first place. So I got it all squared away."
"Good to know," deadpanned Mrs. Warthog. "Then there's the issue about Nurse Gazelle."
"Yeah. Don't remind me of that either. It gives me the heebie-jeebies to know what our 'own' nurse had done to Adam Lyon the other day," Pixiefrog shivered from thinking about it. "It looks like we'll have to get Nurse Gazelle to know the basic training about nursing, and that she can't do what she did to Lyon to our other students. We'll get more lawsuits that way."
"Just be glad that Mr. and Mrs. Lyon let you off easy on that one," Mrs. Warthog informed him. "They could have settled for charges against Nurse Gazelle."
"Yeah. You have a point," Pixiefrog tugged at his collar. "Anywho, once the other students get here, and before we even do any announcements, I'll send Adam Lyon to my office to give him the news that we were just informed on."
"Right," Mrs. Warthog sounded like she didn't care at the moment.
"Now, if you'll excuse me Mrs. Warthog, I'm gonna head into my office, and pout and think about everything I was just informed on," Principal Pixiefrog sighed before returning to his office. "I'll call you if I need anything, alright?"
"Yes," Warthog sighed indifferently as she watched her boss go into his office and shut the door behind him.
She then resumed typing away on the computer, doing her usual assistant duties while the students have yet to arrive at school. Looks like some big changes were in store for Adam Lyon once he arrives at school...
LATER ON - 7:27 A.M.
It didn't take long at all for all the students to arrive at school. And Adam Lyon happened to be one of them. He paid no attention to the animals discussing stuff with each other. His mind was clearing thinking about what his parents told him last night after they discovered his journal out in the open.
When he had gotten up this morning, he had received a sticky note from his parents on the fridge. All it said was that they would call the school board and his principal so they can get things straightened out for him once and for all.
He knew that they were going to attempt to get him sent back to his old human school, but he was 'really' doubtful about whether or not it would work.
After all, his parents originally didn't do anything about it when they learned that their son was going to an all-animal school. Then again, they also had no idea what has been happening to him at the school since he got sent there.
Until last night, they were left out of the loop in regards to how he's been abused by the other animals, and how Jake Spidermonkey was being a horrible friend to him. He could only wonder if things will work out for him this time around.
Yeah. My parents did seem worried about me when they read my journal. And they looked serious when they said they'd do something about it. Adam thought as he walked to his office. But knowing my luck, I probably won't be going back to my old school. So I might as well keep my guard up in case something does happen...
Adam let out a sigh as he went to his locker and opened it up. He hadn't seen Jake at all this morning. And he was glad about it too. Since he had ended their friendship and cut all ties with him, he didn't want to see that trouble-making monkey at all. Even if he will feel like forgiving Jake eventually, it 'clearly' was NOT going to happen anytime soon.
Forgetting about Jake for now, Adam went and put his backpack in his locker, as he was about to take out the books that he needed for today. However, before he could do that, Principal Pixiefrog spoke through the intercom with a very important announcement.
"Good morning students. This is Principal Pixiefrog speaking. Before I get to the morning announcements, I'd like to say the following statement," Pixiefrog then said. "Adam Lyon, report to my office immediately, on the double. That is all."
Once he turned off the intercom, Adam was surprised as he slammed his locker shut. At first, he wondered what the principal wanted with him. But then he remembered what his parents told him last night, and that this might have something to do with them and the school board.
Well, I might as well head to PF's office. I don't want to keep him waiting. Adam thought with a sigh. I'm already dreading to know what he has to tell me about the school board and my parents. Oh well. Let's get this done and over with...
Without saying anything else, he decided to head straight to Principal Pixiefrog's office, as several of the animal students had eyeballed him. They were wondering what PF wanted with Adam. But after what happened to Adam yesterday, they decided not to say anything about it. Unless they wanted to get in trouble and get chastised by Principal Pixiefrog himself.
Ignoring the stares he was given by the animal students, Adam made his way to Pixiefrog's office. But what he didn't know was that once he got into the office, what Pixiefrog would have to tell him with change everything for the human student forever. That's for sure...
END OF CHAPTER 8...
Yeah, that's it for the chapter and all the changes that are underway. I hope you enjoyed this chapter, despite it taking less time for me to write out it.
So yeah. As of right now, Adam and Kerry are a couple. And I'm not going to change that. And from the looks of it, Adam Lyon is on his way to being transferred back to Chester Arthur Middle School thanks to his parents doing something about it and getting a hold of the school board, and Principal Pixiefrog.
This was something that was never done in the actual series, so I decided to do it here. This is what I meant when I said this story would deconstruct Adam's butt-monkey status at CDMS. I got nothing else to say about it.
Anyway, for the next chapter, Adam finds out from PF that he's being transferred back to CAMS, his reaction will be shown, as will the reaction of the other animal students, and a few other things will occur too. How will everything go on Adam's end from here? What about the other students? And what about Jake? Find out next time, readers.
For now, only if you like, you can leave a review for this chapter and tell me what you think about it. Nothing else to say about that.
Aside from that, that's all that I have for now. So until next, I hope you all can take care of yourselves. And on that note, thanks again for reading, everyone!
