It was after daily activities as Amber was finishing up her macrame project, arranging the threads into a coaster. Activities ended as the Blue Rabbit held up her coaster, carrying it back to her cabin where she set it on her nightstand. Amber thought about dressing up for her dinner at Al Calzone's when she realized she did not have Tusk's phone number.
The rabbit pulled the phone from her pocket, a blue flip camera phone, rubbing her thumb along the keypad before closing it. she put her phone back in her pocket. Amber had already told Miss Doe that she was going into town to redeem her coupon and Miss Doe gave her permission to go out, as long as she was back before Lights out.
Amber took the opportunity to wear some real clothes, a break from her Squirrel Scout uniform as he looked through her clothes.
The Rabbit pondered what to wear, she wanted something casual, eventually deciding on a pink skirt and a purple blouse. After change The Rabbit pocketed her belongings and went on her way to Camp Kidney to wait for Tusk
"Look at you all dressed up, where are you going" Toodie asked, seeing Amber wearing her casual clothes. Amber simply informed the squirrel that she was going to redeem her Al Calzone's coupon as Toddie nodded.
The Squirrels in 'Tree Squirrel' Knew why Amber was their leader, being the most capable of the four, she probably could have been placed in Flying Squirrel if she wanted. The rabbit reached for her final article of clothing, a sunhat, placing it on her head as she left her cabin.
The Rabbit made her way to Camp Kidney, where she realized she did not exactly know what cabin Tusk was in, scouting the campgrounds from the other side of a bush, she found him, talking with a Wolf and Kangaroo Scout, both working on some contraption.
Amber walked up to the Cabin, reading the word 'Cocoa' on the sign, knocking on the wall, causing Tusk and Jakk to turn around, Steven under the mix of scrap as he rolled out, on a handmade creeper.
Jakk and Steven were clearly on high alert, Steven scoffed at the rabbit before Tusk confirmed that she was there for him, looking at her.
"I did not know we were doing casual, just give me a minute to change" Tusk requested, heading into Cocoa cabin as the three of them were outside the cabin looking at each other awkwardly. Amber coughed, looking at the two boys, asking what they were working on.
Steven dismissed her with a bit of hostility saying it wasn't her business. Amber claimed she was only trying to make conversation, holding her hands behind her back, swaying side to side, humming as she waited for Tusk to get changed.
Eventually the Boar left the cabin, wearing Black pants and a red long sleeved Shirt. Amber was taken back a bit by how Tusk looked without his Bean Scout Garb. Tusk waved to his friends, leaving with Amber.
The two walked along the Prickly Pine Road as Tusk looked at the rabbit, thanking her for inviting him as she blushed, claiming it was nothing big as they kept walking, she looked at him, her usual cheerful attitude on display.
"So, Tusk, is that your real name?" Amber asked interested as the Boar looked at her, confirming it was a nickname because of the gold tusk he had. He told her his real name was William as Amber smiled.
"I Like That, it sound's fancy" The rabbit commented as she slowly started pelting him with question, most of which he answered as he looked at the Rabbit, asking why she was acting in this way as Amber nodded.
"Oh, so you've noticed, I was trying to hide but I... get hyper sometimes " Amber admitted, mentioning her mother said she had ADHD. She usually took medicine to help with it as Tusk chuckled, honestly finding the Rabbit's behavior amusing. He asked if she took her medicine to which the Rabbit fumbled with her fingers.
"I MAY have forgot, I was just really excited about going to dinner with you, I don't mean, Not WITH You like a date, I'm not saying you're NOT handsome it's just that I... I'll shut up now" Amber replied humming as he looked at her, saying they could backtrack to Acorn Flats so Amber could get her medicine as she refused, wanting to get to Al Calzone's before they closed.
"Plus, I'll be fine just a little hyper and a smidge impulsive, where does that word even come from, Smidge?" Amber questioned as they finally reached Al Calzone's Spaghetti Hideout, Tusk holding the door open for Amber was they entered, Tusk was taken in by the mafia-themed aesthetic. a waiter approached them, the two being sat down as Amber dug through her pocket.
"Cellphone, breathmints, Tissues, ah here it is" Amber replied, handing the coupon to the waiter as he left. The two sat there as Tusk looked at the table, smelling the breadsticks on the table, taking one from the basket, dipping it in marinara sauce, biting into it as Amber did the same.
"So Amber, why not tell me about yourself, you've been talking a lot?" Tusk asked as Amber went on about herself, talking about her family which lived on a farm, how she was the youngest of three siblings, her mother worked with stones and gems.
"There's actually where I Got the name Amber from" The Rabbit went on, Tusk eating other breadstick, Amber picked one from the bowl. Amber than mentioned she wanted to get into the fashion business, amongst telling him other stuff.
Eventually their food came as they both looked into their bowls of pasta. grabbing their fork, since they were eating there wasn't much conversation. Tusk admitted the pasta at the restaurant tasted really good, sprinkling some parmesan cheese on his, taking another bite.
Dinner was delicious as both of them were, wiping their mouths with napkins. the waiter approaching them, asking if they wanted dessert. Amber looked up at the waiter.
"Is The Dessert free, cause the coupon is for a free meal?" Amber asked as the Waiter let the hyperactive rabbit finish before answering.
"The food is free, the sodas and dessert, that you need to pay for" He replied as Amber replied, admitting she did not bring any money. Tusk offered to cover the drinks and dessert, pulling a twenty from his pocket.
"I want a big slice of carrot cake with a LOT of cream cheese icing" Amber requested as Tusk, agreed on the same" as the waiter wrote down two slices of Carrot cake. "You know what, just make it one slice, we'll split it" Amber decided as Tusk looked at her.
"I don't want to bankrupt you" Amber added as the waiter left, returning with plate, topped with a huge slice of cake, and two forks.
The two dug into the dessert, each picking up a piece of the cake with their fork and eating it. Tusk was taken back by how good it was. The two made their way through the cake as Tusk took care of the check, which was 2 dollars for the sodas and 5 dollars for the cake.
They both left the restaurant, heading back to the Campgrounds as Amber was bouncing alongside the road, walking backwards in front of Tusk. She thanked him for coming with her, most of the squirrels avoided Amber when she was off her meds as Tusk shrugged, saying he enjoyed her company. she stopped as Tusk looked at her.
"Amber are you okay" Tusk asked, seeing a shine in her eyes as she was smiling, Amber did not know what came over her but in a few seconds, she pulled Tusk in, giving him a kiss on the lips. The kiss genuinely surprised the Boar as their lips were connected for good while, eventually Amber was realizing what she was doing and backed away.
"Oh my god Tusk... I'm so sorry; I don't know what came over me" The Rabbit tried to explain as Tusk stood their confused, not saying anything as Amber blushed, worrying she may have messed things up as she had kissed him with no warning.
"I should probably get going" Amber told him, looking for an excuse, running off as Tusk, watched her bolt off before walking back to Camp Kidney. The walk was uneventful as the most interesting part of the night was behind him, getting a see a peak of Amber's personality, in truth he wasn't put off by her being hyper, kissing him on pure impulse, he actually found it kind of cute.
Amber made her way to Acorn Flats, dashing to her cabin, closing the door behind her as Suzie and Almondine saw the blue blur while practicing Tennis.
"Looks like Amber is off her meds" Almondine observed as the two, headed back to Tree Squirrel cabin, to the sight of their Cabin leader, on her bed, crying into a pillow.
they approached, seeing up close that Amber clearly off her meds. Almondine reached into Amber's drawer, the owl's hand shuffling through the Rabbit's belongings finding a bottle of pills. Almondine opening it, pouring two pills into Amber's hand as the Rabbit swallowed them.
"What Happened?" Suzie asked concerned, sitting beside her friend as Amber went on, saying it was awful, a complete disaster. She told them that she went out to dinner at Al Calzone's with Tusk and things went unexpected. explaining that she and Tusk kissed.
"It wasn't a small peck on the lips, full mouth contact, tongue and all" Amber admitted, clenching her pillow as the girls looked at each other, asking if she wanted them to get Gretchen, as he could probably Break Tusk's Legs for kissing her which she quickly refused. explaining that she kissed him.
"It was pure impulse, I did not mean to do it, he was so nice as well as easy on the eyes, and I just went for it" She explained, falling on her bed as Suzie looked at her leader, asking how it felt.
Amber did not hesitate to tell them it felt amazing, like her head was going to explode into fireworks, but she did not know what to do, should she try to make things right, forget it ever happened.
So, Amber has ADHD, she takes medicine for it but when she's off her pills she becomes super energetic and impulsive, Amber was super impulsive in the original story, and I wanted a reason for that. Also, since Rabbit and energetic creatures I felt this was a logical idea.
