The next few weeks were busy since Oliver was traveling for Quidditch and Christina was busy with work. She barely got any time with Bethany. Though, she talked to Emma regularly since the younger woman was between jobs so she babysat Bethany.
This was one day she was off. She was meeting Emma and Bethany at the mall so Effie could see Santa.
"Mummy!" Effie shouted, running towards her mum.
She picked her daughter up for a few minutes and put her down and she turned to greet Emma with a hug.
"How long have you been waiting?"
Emma checked her watch. "About 5 minutes."
"Mummy, can you get me a hot chocolate while we wait?" Effie asked.
She ruffled her daughter's hair. "Of course, lovey. Emma, do you want anything?"
"An Earl grey tea with two sugars and milk."
Christina nodded and walked towards the coffee shop. She waited in line to order as she daydreamed about Oliver. It's been so long since she's seen him.
"Next!"
She walked to the counter and ordered two teas and a hot chocolate. She waited for the order.
"We meet again."
She turned to see her ex-husband Scott.
"Piss off, Scott!" she snapped at him.
"Where's your little lap dog, Oliver is it?"
She glared at him begging for them to call her order.
"He probably doesn't love you. Like I never loved you."
She sniffled. "Oliver loves me."
"If he's a freak like our daughter, I doubt he has time for someone like you."
"Christina!"
She hurried to the counter and picked up her order ignoring her ex. After leaving the coffee shop, she took a deep breath to calm her anxiety. She saw Emma and Bethany near at the start of the line.
A few minutes later, they walked over towards her.
"Here sweetie," she said, handing Bethany her hot chocolate.
"Thanks mummy."
She handed Emma her cup of tea as they walked away to start window shopping.
"You know Oliver's birthday is coming up, are you going to get him anything?" Emma asked.
She said, "Yeah, I know."
The trio window shopped for a bit and left for Christina's house.
"You know Ollie asked me to move in a few months ago. He also suggested we spend the night."
Emma nodded. "Olls has a nice house but it's in desperate need of some more feminine touches."
"I bet."
"You really love my brother don't you?" Emma asked.
"I do. I haven't felt this way since I was with Bethany's father. Though, being with Oliver is a lot different. He actually accepts me and my daughter for who we are."
Emma nodded. "Have you told Oliver about your ex?"
Christina nodded and said."I ran into my ex while I was buying our drinks today. He claimed Oliver doesn't love me."
The younger girl laughed. "Olls is crazy about you. He never shuts up about you but it's sweet."
"I know."
Emma nodded. "So, you've run into your ex twice when you're with Oliver or me?"
"I have."
"That's a bit suspicious, isn't it?"
She shrugged. "I thought so too. His family is well off. I wouldn't be surprised if they hired a private investigator or something similar especially since I haven't responded to their letters."
"Are you going to tell Oliver?"
"I don't want him to worry about me. I'm a big girl."
Emma shrugged. "I suppose."
"If it gets worse, I'll tell Oliver," she assured her.
Emma nodded. They rest of the day the two women just watched TV.
