Chapter 3: Temporal meeting

"'Most people see time as a river. Flowing swift and sure in one direction. But I have seen the face of time, and I can tell you, they are wrong'. It is a very astute realization for someone who has dealt with time travel. Isn't it?" clockwork, the Master of time said as he looked on at his window through time. In his old form, he observes the many events that could potentially happen and the many that can no longer come to pass. It is always best to watch the past, present, and future in order to make the best decisions one can.

"It is something that I feel many such as us would come to realize. Though I fear that I am still inadequate in my duties."

Clockwork chuckled but did not turn to the one he was speaking to. "And yet you are content with that. You are satisfied with being a time guardian as it allows you to, as you say, maintain some level of freedom."

"It is just…...you are the master of all time. You have seen the past, present, and future of many different timelines as well as dimensions. Yet you do nothing to stop tragedies, horrors, and great evils. I just think I could do such things."

Clockwork changed into his baby form with a sorrowful smile. "As a time guardian, you know how fragile time can be ….and yes I know as a time master, I can alter anything with no consequences." he interrupted his companion as he saw that he would be informed about the perk of his status

"Then why don't you?"

Clockwork smiled as he finally turned. "As I see the many alternate paths the world can take, I also see that the best course happens from the actions of certain individuals. These individuals are key factors to major events that shape the very world. And I have already altered the fate of one that could have destroyed many, including the bright future you had once seen. This individual worked within the realms of time that even if you focused your sight on him, you would not have been able to stop him."

"And what happened to this individual? If this being is so dangerous, it must be handled immediately."

Clockwork sighed as he saw the narrow-minded view of his companion. "This individual was already dealt with and is no longer a threat. Now then, there is business that we must get to."

A sigh was heard from Clockwork's companion before speaking "yes. You had summoned me for something and I know that it wasn't to have this discussion about our standings."

Clockwork nodded as he floated over to his viewing mirror. He waved his staff over the center mirror as he spoke "there is someone that will be going to Japan soon. However, due to some personal circumstances, he will be in need of support during his stay."

The mirror shimmered till it showed Danny Fenton who was looking over the form that allowed him to go with his class in the educational ethics program.

"Why would you need me to be his support? I don't see anything special about this boy."

Clockwork chuckled as he hid his knowing smirk before he turned into his old form. "Because of your affiliations."

This caused Clockwork's companion's eyes to widen as this was rather unexpected. 'What could this boy have to do with them? There is nothing about him that could aid them.'

Clockwork knew that young Daniel did not appear to have anything to contribute but this was how it needed to be. He thought it was amusing that he never seemed to make a good impression when people see him, yet Danial always shows what he can do when the time requires him to act. Despite the smile he had on his face, he knew he had started to lay the groundwork for something big. Seeing that the path that the timeline was starting to take, he thought of one thing he would need to do.

~Amity Park skies~

Danny was on his usual patrol in the skies of his hometown. But after several hours of this, he stopped and looked around in confusion. "Where is everyone?"

Throughout his patrol, not a single ghost had shown up. No ecto-puses, no ghost animals, no skulker, Johnny, or Ember. Heck, not even the Box ghost showed himself shouting out "beware!"

Though Ember was most likely off doing a concert or something and since he hasn't felt his ghost sense go off, he figured that she wasn't in town. Normally this would have caused him to worry, but Kitty had vouched for Ember that the rockstar was actually doing normal shows …...well, one that doesn't have anything to do with hypnotism. "Norma" wasn't really something he figured Ember would go for in her concerts.

Danny crossed his legs as he floated there and looked around. It was the first time he ever had a night where nothing happened. He brought his fingers to his earpiece as he spoke "anything on your end, guys?"

Sam was the first one to answer {nothing by the docks.}

Tucker's voice came up after her {all clear at the mall.}

Danny scratched his head at these answers "I don't get it, guys. When was the last time we ever had an all-clear?"

Tucker's voice answered {come on, man. This is a good thing. We can call it a night early and prep more for our trip.}

{Tucker!}

{oops…..sorry dude}

Danny sighed as he was reminded how he was going to have to stay here while his friends go off to another country. "It's fine, you two. It's just how things are."

{well, you know that we….}

Danny was confused by the abrupt ending of what Tucker was saying before he grew concerned that something might have happened to him. "Tucker? Tuck you there? Sam, are you able to get in touch with Tucker?" he didn't hear anything coming from her either and this started to make him panic. Before he could even start to fully worry, he felt something from within his core telling him to look around. He shifted his eyes around him and he then noticed the signs. Birds frozen in place, trees paused in their rustling but the main clue was the particles of white ecto energy he could see around him. Feeling the weight on his neck helped him figure out what this meant he smirked and turned around as he spoke "didn't even give your usual catchphrase this time, Clockwork."

Floating ten feet away from Danny was the adult Clockwork with a smirk on his face.

Clockwork chuckled as he nodded to him. "Well, you were able to detect my presence without me announcing my arrival. It tells me that you are becoming more attuned to my powers."

Danny sighed good-naturedly as he fully turned to him. "So what message from the future have you come to give? I know you aren't here just to say 'hi'."

Clockwork smiled as he nodded "though there will be a time I will come by only to say 'hello', you are right to assume that I have come here to give you a message." he shifted to his baby form before he floated to be side by side with the boy. He looked upon the town that is linked to the other side the most before he spoke. "You do not have to worry about your home as you go off on your school's program."

Danny's eyes widened as he turned to Clockwork. "Wait what?! You can't be serious! If I leave the town alone, every single one of my enemies will wreak havoc and no one will be able to stop the big hitters!" he gripped his hair as he looked at Clockwork as if he had lost all sense.

Clockwork chuckled at the panic Danny had. Despite being able to see everything that will, could, and has happened, it is always more meaningful when you actually experience it. "Have you not noticed tonight how there are no attacks happening?"

This caused Danny to stop in his panic and think about what Clockwork asked

Clockwork continued "your usual adversaries will not be harming your home while you are off in another country. As for many different reasons, they will be more preoccupied with other matters for a good while."

Danny tilted his head as he processed what was said

"And before you ask, you have allowed several of them to go off on their own and in doing so, you have removed many of them as enemies to a certain extent. For Jonathon Thirnton and Kathrine Strome, they will mostly be riding throughout the streets during the nights and when Jonothan acts unfaithful, Kathrine will simply banish him till the end of the time limit. Amberline is off on a world tour since you allowed her to go off on her own as long as she doesn't use her mind control on her audience. Feeling grateful, she will honor your agreement since you both get what you want from it. YoungBlood, or Denice Murton, will abandon his plans when he realizes that you are not around as he would find no enjoyment in them if you are not around. For Steven Meril and Beatrice Sulivan or as you know them as, Box ghost and Lunch lady, they will be off on a getaway within the ghost zone for a good amount of time. And Skulker…...has other matters he will be dealing with."

Danny was a little surprised to hear the real names of some of the ghosts that he usually fought, though he was sure that he would never call them by their names since it just didn't seem right to do so but there was a name he did not hear in that list. And if this one was doing something, it would explain about Skulker having other matters. "What about Plasmius?"

Clockwork gained a frown as he looked at Danny. "I cannot say anything about him during your time over in Japan."

Danny crossed his arms as he gave the master of time a look "'can't' or 'won't'?"

Clockwork's frown disappeared as he gave an impressed look "I believe you know the answer to that." He then shifted back to his adult form before he brought up his staff and pressed the button on his staff. "Time in."

Danny blinked and saw that everything started moving again and Clockwork was nowhere to be seen. "One of these days I'm going to get the upper hand on him…maybe."

{get the upper hand on who, Danny? Did you run into someone?}

Danny heard Sam's voice over the comms in a worried state from what he said. He pressed his fingers to his earpiece and spoke "no, Sam. well….yes I did but it was a friend. Look guys, how about we call it a night? There isn't any sign of an attack coming."

{you sure, dude? It's still early in our normal patrol.}

Danny was about to tell Tucker and Sam about Clockwork giving him the heads up but as he spun around to fly off as he spoke, he felt the familiar weight on him. Looking down, he saw that he was still wearing one of Clockwork's medallions. 'Why would he leave this? He usually takes them when he is done with his meetings?' grabbing it. He flipped it over to see that there was a slip of paper with a message on the back. It was a simple message

"Secrecy."

Danny glared at the message as it was completely vague on the meaning. 'Why can't you give me a straight answer for once clockwork?' activating the comms again he spoke up. "I just got a tip that it was going to be all clear for a while. And trust me that it is a very reliable source." He looked around in case Clockwork would send something to hit him if he went too far into the secrecy that clockwork told him to keep. Not seeing anything, he sighed as he heard his friends accept what he said

Danny groaned as it just couldn't be so simple with Sam being so suspicious of anything vague. "Trust me, Sam. let's just call it a night."

{...fine. I won't ask anymore but you better tell us about this source later on. I'll be heading home from where I am. Tuck, you good where you are?}

{yeah I am. We'll talk to you later Danny}

"night, guys" Once he heard the comms turn off he just floated there as he thought about why this trip could be so important. He stayed there for a while as he looked at stars in the sky. He began to trace some of the constellations that he could see and naming them as he finished. He finished another one when his finger landed on the full moon. He blinked a couple of times when he noticed that it looked brighter than usual. "Huh? Wonder if I missed some lunar event where the moon looks bigger and brighter. He looked at the moon for a moment till, for a split second, he could have sworn he saw a flash of green. Shaking his head he looked again and saw nothing wrong with the moon. "Huh? Ghost sense didn't go off so it must have been nothing." feeling the need to get some rest, he flew off towards Fentonworks not realizing that several things were amiss from his conversation with Clockwork.

Such as the unmentioned ghosts. Like Technus and spectra

~Fentonworks~

Danny phased into his room before transforming back. Looking at the clock he saw that he could very well get a decent night's sleep. He moved to his desk to put away the medallion but paused as he saw another note with Clockwork's logo on it. Picking it up he read what it said

"I would suggest that you wait till tomorrow night when it comes to informing your parents about the trip and for the next day till you turn in the form to your teacher"

Danny slumped as he couldn't see why he would have to wait till he could bring this up with his parents. Though he knew he could trust Clockwork and that the timekeeper is doing this for a certain purpose but being led on without knowing the end result does get on his nerves sometimes. "I know saying this would be pointless, but I hope you know what you're doing Clockwork, and that whatever trouble I am sure is to come won't be too much trouble." he put the note and the medallion into his desk before getting into his pajamas and into bed so he could enjoy his extended sleep.

~Juban~

Usagi was sleeping at her desk as usual as her teacher Miss Haruna Sakurada was going over the English lesson that they would need to remember if they wanted to get a good score on their next test. "Mmmmm…..more snacks….mmmmm"

Ms. Sakurada's eye twitched at the fact that Usagi was sleeping through her lesson again but she figured she should have been used to this by now. Sighing in resignation she clapped her hands to get the attention of everyone still awake "alright class, I have an announcement to make." seeing that everyone was paying attention she began. "Within the next couple of weeks, our school will be receiving guest students from across seas as part of a cultural education program for them. Now due to the number of students in this class, they will be split into several different classrooms and lessons. Our class shall be receiving a few of them when they arrive, so I expect you to show them respect when they do arrive."

"Hai, Sensei!"

"Hmmm….cookies…."

Ms. Sakurada gained a tick mark as she sternly walked over to Usagi with a ruler in her hand and slammed it on her desk

*SMACK*

"AAAAAHHHH!"

"Nice of you to join us, Usagi. Perhaps if you are so sleepy, standing outside can help you wake up!"

"Yes, mam." Usagi got up from her seat and made her way out of the classroom so she could stand outside.

~Later~

Usagi was sitting outside with her friends as they were having lunch. She was enjoying the bento that her mother made for her while listening to what Makoto had to say

"So what do you think about the Americans coming to our school?"

Usagi blinked in confusion as she had no clue what they were talking about

Minako sighed as she began to fantasize about a cute boy sweeping her off her feet as a movie scenario ran through her head. "I'm looking forward to when they get here. Maybe I can ask one of them out….or they can ask me out."

Ami lowered the book she had as she gave her thoughts on the matter. "They are coming here to better understand our culture. And we still don't know what kind of people they will be."

Makoto, who was leaning on top of the backrest of the bench they were using, lowered herself to be more leveled with them. "Come on, Ami. just because they are coming here because of an educational program doesn't mean they won't enjoy themselves with some fun."

Usagi kept turning her head to each of her friends as they spoke but she just couldn't wrap her mind on the topic. "What are you guys talking about?"

The girls looked at Usagi till they figured that she must have fallen asleep, again during the announcement in her class.

Minako smirked as she asked, "fell asleep in class again didn't you?"

Usagi sheepishly smiled as she looked away in embarrassment.

While the girls were explaining things to Usagi about the Americans coming to their school and why, Luna thought about the timing of this. After the visions she has been having recently, she couldn't help but think that this was too convenient. 'Could this be related? Why would something like this happen when it has never happened before?' she kept thinking about this but after a few minutes of mulling it over, she chose to put it out of her mind. 'They're just dreams, like Artemis said. No one else remembered such events so it could be just me being paranoid about the enemies we are against right now.' She laid her head down and tried to get her mind on other matters but no matter how much she did she couldn't help but worry about this. She then thought about the vision that Rei had when she asked about them. Despite how they didn't seem to match with her vision, too many things just kept piling on. 'I'm going to turn as white as Artemis at this rate.'

~Amity park, 2 days later~

Danny was waiting for class to end so he could turn in the form that would allow him to go to Japan with his friends. He had told his friends that he would be joining them in this whole thing and they couldn't believe it. They asked him what it was that helped him make the decision but all he told them was that a friend told him that he should.

Sam of course was not happy with the vague answer but she trusted Dany wouldn't do something stupid.

Once the class ended Danny walked up to Mister Lancer. "Sir?"

Mr. Lancer looked up from the papers that he was grading and asked. "Yes, Mr. Fenton?"

Danny reached into his bag and pulled out the form before handing it to the teacher. "Here, it turns out that I will be able to go on this trip."

Mr. Lancer took the paper and looked it over. "Hmmm. It is good to see that you will be able to join your classmates in this. Though it would have been preferable if you had submitted this at an earlier date as the reservations we made with the venue we will be staying at for the time had been filled."

"Wait, what?!"

"Yes, the location that we will be staying at already has the rooms reserved. We didn't expect someone to submit the form this late in the deadline so we reserved a specific number of the rooms to accommodate those going." Lancer got up from his seat and made his way out of the classroom. I will put this in with the others and I will make some calls to see if we can work out this last-minute addition. Don't worry, Mr. Fenton, we will work this out."

Danny nodded as he followed his teacher out and then joined his friends.

"So why not share a room with one of the other guys?" was Sam's inquiry as the group sat at their booth in the "Nasty Burger

Danny took a bite out of his burger and swallowed before he answered "Sam, if they did that, with my luck, I'll end up with one of the jocks." he jabbed his thumb behind him as his friends followed what he was pointing at

Dash was playing football with Nelson's bag as the said nerd tried to reach it and the jocks kept passing it around.

"...good point."

Tucker ate the new item on the menu which were fires that had bacon bits added to them. He took a bunch of them and put them in his mouth before swallowing and looking at his best friend. "At least you get to go. Would have been boring without you around."

Sam raised an eyebrow at that. "Oh, and you drooling over the potential tech you could get your hands on without Danny battling wasn't something that you were looking forward to?"

"Hey, you gotta admit that some of the fights Danny gets into caused the death of many precious technologies."

Danny deadpanned at him "gee thanks, Tuck."

Sam shook her head. "Anyway, I'm going to keep this a secret from my parents. They were so excited to hear that Dany wouldn't be coming that they nearly threw a party with the whole town invited just to celebrate him being stuck here."

Tucker tilted his head as he asked. "Is that what all the commotion that went on at your place about?"

Sam dropped her head on the tabletop as she nodded. "Yeah. they didn't invite the whole town but they did invite their high-class friends to celebrate. Though their friends had no clue why they were celebrating."

Danny crossed his arms as he deadpanned "they really need to stop blaming me for how you turned out. You are how you are because of your choices, not mine."

Sam lifted her head and nodded but still had a frown on her face. "Tell them that. I'm sure they won't hear you as you speak."

The group could see that happening and just chose to drop the subject since as of now, the three of them will be going to Japan.

~later~

Danny was making his way home while thinking of how Mr. Lancer would handle his late addition. "If I have to bunk with another student, I really hope that I don't end up with Dash….. I really hope I didn't just jinx myself." He made it into his house and walked through the door and was surprised by the sudden appearance of his father.

"Danny-boy! We just got a call from the school talking about that trip you are going on to china!"

Danny lifted a finger and corrected his father. "Actually dad, Juban is in Japan."

Jack paused in his exuberance and thought about what he was told for a second before sheepishly scratching his head. "Oh oops. Anyway, the school called and said that they were able to get you a place to stay while you are over at Juban. Said something about someone willing to take you in for the time."

Danny blinked as he thought it would take much longer till they were able to handle his accommodations. "Wait, someone is going to take me in? Who?"

Jack scratched his head as he tried to think of the name. "Subaba May? Sumay Unama?"

It was Dany's mother that came to save his father from shooting out more random names.

"Jack, try not to hurt yourself. Go to the kitchen and eat some fudge."

"Fudge!" and with that, Jack ran off to the kitchen

Maddie shook her head "that man is a genius when it comes to applied science and engineering in the area of ectorology but he can be a bit dim in other subjects."

Danny chuckled as he had to agree with his mother. "So mom, who was it that said that I can stay with them?"

Maddie reached into one of her belts pockets and pulled out a note. "I wrote it down so we can memorize it later on."

"Well?"

"Her name is… Setsuna Meiou"

Sorry for the long wait…..though I don't many people read this one since it is two fandoms that don't really get that much hype.

I am going through some of the fics that I have not updated in a while so please don't put a review asking for another fic to be updated. It kinda seems insulting that someone does that.

-Flames however are just BS that I don't care for. And with that started let me ask flamers this. "If you have the gall to talk shit to writers, why don't you have the balls to take shit from us?" since all flamers that I deal with use gues accounts in order to avoid conflict. This also tells me that they themselves don't have a story written so they don't have the right to say anything.

The Prince of Persia reference popped into my head since I heard about the Remake of the "Prince of Persia Sands of time." coming out.

I came up with the names of the ghost beside the canon ones we got from the show

looking forward to getting out of the prepping arc as not much is happening and it should pick up once the gan has reached Juban

I still have no idea who Danny will be paired with so PLEASE give me a suggestion and reason. Otherwise, I might randomly choose and it will bug the hell out of me. Worst case scenario, It might end up a double pairing since I'M AN INDECISIVE IDIOT and use double pairings as a way to get out of choosing.

The only one off the table would be Usagi for obvious reasons. Pretty sure I said that in previous chapters

Also, if you have an idea for the cover art, let me know so I can start drawing it.
