As Harriet prepared for her final task, Lily carried out a task of her own.
On a mission to scope out potential attack targets for Voldemort's next violent scheme, she found herself walking through a shopping mall one afternoon in muggle London.
Beside her, Bellatrix and Narcissa whispered to one another.
Their long, black dresses seemed oddly out of place next to the bright, spring clothing that the other mall-goers sported.
"Disgusting." Bellatrix hissed to her sister as a young, muggle mother walked by, holding the hand of her little girl.
"Keep your voice down, Bella." Narcissa chastised, "You don't want someone to over-...Laima?" She asked as she noticed her other companion no longer remained at her side.
Narcissa and Bellatrix stopped in their path to turn and find Lily staring into a shop window.
"...Laima?" Narcissa called again as Bellatrix scowled in suspicion, "What are you doing? Come away from there, we need to move on."
"Just a minute, you two!" Lily answered while she rushed into the shop.
"Where on earth is she going?!" Bellatrix hissed.
Narcissa threw her sister a worried frown before they reluctantly followed Lily, er, Laima, into the clothing store.
Bellatrix blanched at the bright lights and glittering displays of all the latest women's fashions of the muggle world, but Narcissa remained calm as she walked through the shop and came to stand beside Lily at the counter while she completed her purchase.
After Lily finished her transaction and left the store with her two companions, Bellatrix shot her a look full of disdainful suspicion as she spat, "May I ask how giving money away to lesser creatures furthers our mission?!"
"Oh, it's very simple, Bellatrix." Lily smiled as she clutched her bag, "The Dark Lord will be able to touch the fabric of what I bought and with his great power, he can map the entire building in his mind. Surely that will be a much better guide than our mere descriptions of what we see today?"
Bellatrix narrowed her eyes to slits as she realized that Lily had come up with a better idea than her or Narcissa had been able to produce.
"What an intriguing notion." Narcissa said with a forced smile.
Lily nodded silently as they walked along.
She had purposely bought a separate piece of clothing to hand to Voldemort, certainly, but her main purchase, what had caught her eye in the shop's scandalous window display, that had been for Severus.

At the Death Eater meeting that very evening, Severus nearly folded his hand while Voldemort praised his wife.
"Excellent work, Laima, my dear!" The Dark Lord cackled as he lifted the muggle bathrobe Lily had bought into the air with his wand, "This tells me exactly what I wanted to learn!"
Lily beamed a smile of feigned pride as Severus clutched her hand underneath the Malfoys' elegant dining table.
"...Then our intended target is indeed wise, my lord?" Narcissa asked.
"No, Narcissa!" Voldemort hissed as he threw his hosts a hideous snarl. Narcissa and Lucius blanched as Voldemort roared, "Too few people! Too easy to reconstruct! How are we supposed to inspire shock and fear if we can't make a proper impact?! This will never do! We must find somewhere else to strike!"
Bellatrix grew desperate not to let Laima best her.
"But my lord," She began with a nervous smile, "That filthy piece of muggle clothing was unnecessary…….You could have formed a map together by reading our thoughts, couldn't-"
"-WHAT HAVE I SAID, BELLA?!" Voldemort thundered.
Bellatrix gasped as her eyes widened.
"Severus," Voldemort calmly nodded as he turned to his general, "You and your lovely wife have once again proven yourselves loyal to our cause."
"Thank you, my lord." Severus answered in his low voice without hardly moving his lips as Lily nodded in return, "We are honoured to prove useful."
Voldemort grinned at Severus before he turned away and burned the bathrobe to ash with one stroke of his wand.
Lily forced herself not to shriek as the ashes blew over everyone at the table seconds before a new location for a future attack was suggested.
By the time the meeting ended, Lily shared Bellatrix's desperation to seek the man she loved.
Severus's waiting arms was the only place in the world where Lily ever felt truly safe.

Severus forced himself not to show fear out of concern for his darling bride.
He comforted Lily with his usual, stoic outward demeanor, although by the time they made it home that night, he really wanted to cower in the corner and weep.
Would the war ever end?
Would Voldemort really be…….gone?
Defeated?
As Severus and Lily returned to their empty cottage, they stood on opposite ends of their bedroom as they each removed their robes.
"At least we can get some rest now, Sev." Lily said with a sigh.
Severus had become so engrossed in his own fretful musings over their situation that her voice shook him out of his worried trance.
As he pulled on his nightshirt, he happened to glance over at his beloved, but his fingers froze once his gaze fell upon her.
"L-Lily…….?" Severus asked in his low voice.
He struggled to swallow against the sudden dryness of his throat.
"Yeah, Sev?" Lily asked as she paused to languidly stretch herself in front of the mirror.
She smirked as she marveled at her husband's awed expression, displayed in the glass's reflection.
Severus's dark eyes melted into pools of lust.
His jaw went slack in wonder as his mouth fell open.
To hide it from Bellatrix and Narcissa's view, Lily had slyly slipped the lacey thong she had purchased inside the bathrobe at the mall.
The store clerk had been smugly willing to help.
Severus hadn't expected his sweet, kind flower to dare buy such a scandalous garment from the muggle world.
As Lily stood with her back to him, bare except that single scrap of lace that wedged itself between the rounded cheeks of her plump bottom, Severus felt his heart race as his sleep trousers tightened.
His breath hitched as Lily glanced at him, with her bright, green eyes flashing while her long, shimmering, scarlet hair cascaded over her shoulders.
"See something you like, Sev?" She asked with a flirtatious giggle.
It thrilled her to watch Severus glide towards her like a stalking panther.
Lily laughed darkly as she turned to face him.
She grabbed the collar of his open nightshirt and pulled him towards her as their lips met while his arms encircled her waist.
The whimper she let slip into their kiss made Severus shiver with want as his smooth, tapered hands found the exposed cheeks of her bottom.
In the fervor of their heated kiss, Lily nipped his lips sharply as he indulged in a generous squeeze of her soft flesh.
Together, they stumbled towards the bed until they toppled down on top of the covers.
The thin scrap of lace that covered Lily was hooked around Severus's fingers for only a brief moment before it was clutched firmly in his teeth as he slipped the intoxicating lingerie from her beautiful body.
Severus spent his days denying himself, but in the evenings, once he escaped the confines of his many masks and retreated to the privacy of the bed he shared with Lily, at last, in the kiss of his beloved flower, he found complete and absolute freedom.

While Professor Snape enjoyed time with his wife, Harriet hoped to enjoy some privacy of her own as she hurried through Hogwarts Castle immediately after dinner.
It had taken some work, but she had managed to convince Ron and Hermione she had a terrible stomach ache.
After she rushed to her dormitory and mounded her clothes under the bed covers to make it seem as if she were asleep, she headed towards the second floor.
Draco had stayed behind in their last class to ask several questions about their latest assignment for a bit too long.
Once he eventually left the room and walked down the hallway, Harriet was the last person he expected to see.
"Snape!" Draco snapped as his eyes widened.
Instead of turning and fleeing in mortification, Harriet all but charged Draco as she rushed at him and shouted, "GET OUT OF MY WAY, MALFOY!"
Draco stepped to the side just in time to let her pass before she could crash into him, but Harriet paid him little mind.
As she scrambled down the hallway and rounded the corner, her heart pounded with anxious excitement.
She barely remembered the journey that followed over the next few minutes, down to that secret place underneath the castle.
All that mattered to Harriet was the happy relief she felt once the world melted away as she ran inside the subterranean room to find young Tom Riddle, tall, dark, and handsome, waiting for her.
"Hello, Harriet." Tom said as he opened his arms welcomingly.
The pout on his angular face could have made any girl faint at his feet.
His dark eyes softened as he sighed and confessed, "It's been such a terribly long day……stuck down here without you."
Harriet laughed as she dashed right into Tom's embrace.
Possessively, he folded his arms around her lithe figure as their lips met in a kiss that would have boiled Draco's blood.
—————————————————————
Harriet had been careless enough to let her haste worry Tom's rival.
Had she fallen ill?
Draco narrowed his eyes as he thought.
He could still smell the rich scent of the Great Hall's fine foods that clung to her robes.
If she had fallen ill, then why would she have come all the way to the second floor?
As Draco watched Harriet dash around the corner, he made the dangerous decision to follow her.
Harriet failed to notice that Draco's gray eyes watched her as she rushed into the lavatory, spoke the command in Parseltongue for the sink to open, and happily launched herself down the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets.
Once she had gone and the entrance closed itself, Draco frowned as he cautiously walked over to the sink and began his examination.
When he found nothing remarkable about the mirror, he frowned.
The sink and the handles to the faucet offered nothing out of the ordinary to behold, but once Draco bent down, his eyes widened.
There, plainly on one of the sink's taps, was the blatant carving of a serpent.
He blew out a breath in shock as he marveled at what he had discovered.
He had heard his mother and father speak of it often, the Chamber of Secrets hidden somewhere in the castle, guarded by a monster, its door rumored to be marked by a serpent, only accessible to……
Draco teetered between mind-numbing fear and heart-stopping admiration.
How was it possible?
How could it be that his beloved Harriet Snape was the heir to Slytherin?
