Whew, I FOUND IT! On the last day of April, I finally found the Marichat May calendar prompt list! I don't know if it was up for a while and I just missed it like an idiot but it doesn't matter. I have the list now, I've selected my 7 (technically 8) prompts, wrote out my basic outlines and started writing.
Luckily, I was able to write and proof-read the day 2 prompt in just two days and can post it today. Hooray!
So, here we go, Marichat May...again!
Just to clarify, some of these might have slight AUs. They could still be just friends, already lovers, strangers then lovers, no miraculous or akumas, etc. Just pay attention to how it's written.
Marichat May 2023:
Day# 2: Medieval Festival
Today, the city of Paris was being sent back in time, to an era of knights, jesters, royals, and heroic warriors fighting the forces of evil. But this was not the work of magic, just some good old fashion recreation.
A festival was being held in the park of Champ de Mars, recreating all the fun and fanciful culture of the medieval times.
Today, there was no Adrien Agreste. There was only Chat Noir, a noble knight in black armor.
Adrien was so busy in his everyday life, and so much of it was out of his control. His father was the king of their castle and he was but a servant hiding behind the façade of a prince.
But today, he was neither. Today, he was making the decision to become a knight.
He had on a suit of dark colored armor, black as night, with black chainmail, and a green paw print symbol on his chest. So no one would recognize him, he also wore a cloth black mask over his eyes so he could hide his face without having to wear his metal helmet all day. He also tousled his blonde hair a bit to make it look wilder, as apposed to his normally perfectly combed hair.
His goal for the day was to simply have fun. But another more interesting directive for the day found him.
He had heard during lunch that there was a battle taking place the next day to officially close the festival. There were two sides to fight on; the Golden Queen's army and the Sapphire Princess's army. Both kingdoms were holding tryouts for knights and soldiers to fight on their sides. The Golden Queen was the raining ruler, but if the Sapphire Princess won the battle, she'd take her title as Queen. If not, the Sapphire Princess would be stripped of all her noble status for future festivals.
It sounded more like two girls who hated each other settling a rivalry bet, but it still sounded like a cool thing to partake in for the festival.
When Chat saw the poster for the Golden Queen's army tryouts, he knew right off the bat that it was Chloe Bourgeois. Her illustrated image was a dead giveaway, but also how her posters demanded only the best for her army, the biggest and strongest, and that anyone who didn't support her rule would be lame. Definitely Chloe.
As her childhood friend, it was only natural for him to fight on her side. But that was Adrien, and he was Chat Noir today.
So, of course, he checked out the Sapphire Princess's poster.
Her poster encouraged anyone brave and honorable to join. That she wished to dethrone the Golden Queen because she was against her rule. She wished to be a Queen of the people, to be just and kind, and promised to fight for their freedom and prosperity.
Chat admired this girl's spirit. Clearly, she and Chloe did not get along because she was so nice. No wonder she wanted to take her title from her. Chloe was most likely only the Queen of the festival because of her father. But this princess wanted to earn the title.
Not only was he encouraged by her message, but his eyes were also drawn to her image. In her poster, she wore a lovely pink gown with cherry blossom details and held a sword. Her skin was pale and flawless, and her hair was a dark, flowing bluenette.
At first, he didn't understand why she was called the 'sapphire' princess if her primary color was pink. Until he took a good look at her eyes. Whoever illustrated these posters really captured her eyes and made them stand out. They were indeed, as bright and as blue as two sapphires.
He wondered if they were that bright and blue in person.
Even if it was just a picture, he thought she was beautiful.
Chat would be honored to fight in her army.
The dark knight made his way over to the Sapphire Princess's camp, where they were holding her knight tryouts. There were more tents set up with people going about their business. Most likely people who were already members of the Princess's army. Even if they weren't going to fight, they still supported her and would do what they could to help her and her army.
Chat approached the sign-in table for the tryouts and gave his name. Or, his knight name. He was given a wooded, padded sword and shield to fight with and donned his helmet.
They pitted him against several other knights who were also trying out. And with his fencing skills, he made minced meat out of them all.
The crowd of on-lookers applauded his victories. Chat removed his helmet and waved to them all, humbling basking in this well-earned attention. Sadly, he caught no sight of their leader. He thought that the Princess would be overseeing the tryouts to pick her knights for her army, but he didn't see her anywhere. Not even by the biggest, fanciest tent in the camp where he was positive were her private chambers.
He desperately wanted a glimpse of her sapphire gaze.
"Chat Noir," a young woman in armor by the Princess's tent, her general, called out to him. She had short bluenette hair, brown eyes, and spoke with much authority. "Your next opponent will be one of our finest warriors." As she spoke, another knight stepped onto the battle grounds. They wore a full suit of dark red armor and chainmail. They carried a wooden, padded sword—like his and everyone else's—and a shield with the Princess's seal on it, along with a helmet that covered their head and face. "How you perform here will determine your place in the Princess's army," the general proclaimed.
Chat nodded in understanding, donned his helmet again, and faced the red knight. They bowed and presented their sword. Chat did the same, crossing his sword with theirs.
Then the fight commenced.
The red knight advanced, Chat evaded, then he swung his sword, the red knight dodged with amazing grace. Then they struck him from behind with their own sword. Chat grunted in pain and slight surprise. That was the first blow he had received all day. It didn't hurt really, but it was still disheartening. He needed to win if he was going to get into the Princess's army.
Chat swung again but the red knight blocked with their shield. They thrusted their shield forward, making Chat stumble back a bit. Then they did it again, and again, pushing him back more. Then they swung their shield hard, making Chat's sword fall from his hand. The red knight thrusted their shield again, forcing him to back away further from his sword. Chat raised his own shield to block the blow, but that left him open for a different strike.
With his sword gone and his shield pushing against his opponent's, the red knight raised their sword and struck him again. Distracted from the blow, the red knight was able to knock away his shield as well. Then with their sword, delivered another blow to his leg, putting him off balance and causing him to fall.
There Chat sat on the ground, no sword, no shield, the red knight towering over him with their sword at his throat.
"I yield," he said, shamed by his defeat.
So much for joining the Princess's army.
"You have fought valiantly, Chat Noir," the red knight said, withdrawing their sword. Chat recognized that the voice sounded female, but was surprised by the compliment after such a defeat.
Even more surprising, when her helmet came off, the first thing he noticed were the same bright blue eyes and free flowing bluenette hair he had seen on the poster.
This wasn't just a knight. This was the Princess herself.
Chat stared, entranced by her beauty. His assumption had been correct. Her eyes were even bluer and brighter in person, and they were staring down at him.
"What?" Chat eventually replied. "But…I didn't beat you."
"No. But you bested many of the others, fought with honor and skill. I'm welcoming most of them into my army, but I would be honored to have you as one of my elite honor guards," she told him, smiling a kind smile on her rosy pink lips.
"Really?" Him, an honor guard? The most elite of her knights? That was one of the highest honors for a knight. "I mean," he muttered. He needed to give her a proper answer. Chat turned over from sitting on his butt to formally kneeling before the armored royal. "I humbly accept, Sapphire Princess," he said, bowing his head.
"Marinette," she told him. Chat looked back up at her still smiling face. "Or Princess Marinette if you prefer." 'Sapphire Princess' was more of a gimmick for the festival but she also liked being called by her actual name, with or without the added 'princess' title. Her subjects were her friends, so she liked to be less formal with them when she could.
Chat grinned back up at her. Then offered up his hand to her. Marinette, charmed by his chivalry and character, removed one of her gloves and allowed him to grasp her bare hand. "I am at your eternal service, Princess Marinette," he declared before placing a kiss upon her hand.
After taking her hand back, Marinette raised her sword, commanding the attention of all her people watching.
"Then, I hereby officially knight you, Sir Chat Noir, honor guard and my valiant knight," she proudly proclaimed, tapping her sword onto his shoulder and then the other.
The crowd cheered as Chat Noir stood up.
Accompanied by Princess Marinette, then by General Kagami, they went into the royal tent to plan their strategy for the battle tomorrow.
Soon, the Sapphire Princess would be the primary ruler over the festival; even if they had to wait until next year.
Long live the Sapphire Queen and her loyal knight in black armor!
Next chapter/prompt will be on the 5th. I actually already have it written so there shouldn't be any delay for posting it on its intended day.
As for the others; like I said, I didn't have much prep time so I'm gonna be hurrying to write and post them in their numeric order, so some might not be ready to post on their exact day. But I'll try. Regardless, there will be a week's worth of Marichat stories posted here before the month is over.
See u again in a few days =^.^=
