Day #13: Rose & Thorns
Marinette stood patiently on her balcony. Waiting for her knight in black leather and cat ears to come grace her with his presence. He'd come over every once in a while when she wasn't busy and he wasn't. He always insisted that he was never too busy to pay her a visit, no matter how hectic his schedule was.
And when he did, he tended to bring her little gifts.
Finally spotting a black speck moving along the rooftops, Marinette got excited. In no time, the speck got bigger and bigger until she could make out the shape of a person. She stepped back a bit, giving him plenty of room to land. A second later, Chat Noir landed right in front of her.
Chat stood there, a smile on his face and a bouquet of pink roses in his hand. "Evening," he said to her.
"Evening," she replied. Then she glanced down at the flowers. "Are those for me?"
"Do you see any other lovely princess's here that I'm trying to woo?" he joked, making Marinette giggle. He handed her the roses and Marinette took them happily.
"They're beautiful," she said after giving them a sniff. "Come inside. I'll just put these in a vase and then we can hang," she gestured for him to follow her down her skylight.
Marinette made her way down onto her bed, then down her loft stairs to her room. Chat followed after her and made himself comfortable on her chaise. Marinette put the bouquet on her desk before going downstairs to the kitchen. She came back up a minute later with a glass vase and a pair of scissors.
Chat watched as Marinette filled the vase with two or three inches of water from her sink, place it on her desk, then remove the wrapping paper from around the bouquet.
"So, what would you like to do tonight, my princess?" Chat asked as he watched her.
"I don't know. What do you want to do?" Marinette shrugged. She usually let Chat pick.
Chat thought for a moment. "I don't feel like playing video games tonight. I could take us somewhere nice to watch the sun set and enjoy the night air. Or we could stay here and watch a movie." He was down for either.
Marinette paused in her task for a moment to think about those ideas. "How about we go out somewhere nice and watch the sun set, then come back here and watch a movie?" she suggested as she started snipping the ends of the rose steams off before placing them in the vase.
Chat grinned again. That was a much better plan. "So smart," he complemented her smoothly. "And beautiful, and kind, and-" he went on before Marinette's chuckling made him stop.
"Chat, if you think flattery with get me to sneak you leftover pastries from the bakery, you know I already—OUCH!"
Marinette suddenly dropped the scissors and rose.
Chat sprang up at hearing her cry of pain. "Marinette?!" he exclaimed in concern, dashing over to her side to see what was wrong.
Marinette cradled her left hand in her right. "I'm fine. I think one of the thorns just got me," she reassured him. It had hurt a bit but it wasn't that big a deal.
Still concerned, Chat grasped her hands and lightly pulled them apart to see.
"You're bleeding," he said, looking down at her left hand. Sure enough, there was a small cut on her palm that was producing quite a bit of blood. Marinette quickly grabbed a tissue from the box on her desk and pressed it against her cut to stop the bleeding. It was a small thing, but Chat still found himself consumed with guilt. "Marinette, I'm so sorry. I should have told them to remove those things before-" The florist had asked him if he wanted the thorns removed before they wrapped them but had said that it hadn't been necessary.
"No, Chat. It's fine. It's just a little cut," she cut him off. He didn't need to apologize or feel bad for this. It was really nothing.
Chat, however, still felt he needed to make this right.
Gasping her from behind, the feline hero lead his wounded princess over to her chaise and sat her down. Then Chat when over to her desk and looked under it, looking for something. When he found it, he pulled out a small white box with a red cross on the lid.
Chat came back over and sat beside Marinette. He placed the box in his lap, opened it, and dug out a few items. Once he had what he needed, he closed the box and placed it on the floor. Then he turned to Marinette.
"Let me see," he gently asked her.
Complying, Marinette held out her left hand, palm up, without the tissue. It wasn't bleeding as much anymore.
Chat ripped open an alcohol swab and wiped it over the cut, making Marinette wince a bit at the sting. After the wound was clean, Chat squirted some anti-bacterial ointment on a cotton ball and dabbed it on her hand. Done with that, Chat picked up a bandage, ripped it open, pulled the paper off and placed it over her cut.
Then, for extra healing, he kissed it.
Marinette smiled as he raised his head and looked at her, their faces close. Marinette lowered her hand, leaned in, and captured his lips with hers.
After a tender and sweet minute, they pulled away, but only a tiny bit. "You still want to go out for that sun set stroll?" he asked her, his lips still close to hers.
Marinette grinned. "Of course." Cut or no cut, she wanted to go watch the sun set with her sweet kitty.
After carefully cutting and placing the rest of her roses in her vase, Marinette and Chat went up her skylight. Once on her balcony again, Chat took her into his arms and leaped away to find a perfect spot.
From that day forward, whenever Chat brought Marinette roses, he always made sure they were thorn free. He didn't care how insignificant it seemed, he refused to let his princess bleed again, especially from something he gave her.
But if she even did, he'd still be there with a bandage and more kisses.
Next one is for the 26th so that is when I'll post it (one of the only ones I know will be posted on time).
See u then =^.^=
