Uh oh, we're in the end game now :)
The Order was awaiting Dumbledore, who was supposed to arrive that evening, along with the rest of the Order. Currently, James was having a conversation with Kingsley and Mad-Eye, Remus and Tonks were talking together, while Sirius was giving James 'I told you so' looks from his conversation with Lily. All in all, a normal June evening, until the unmistakable voice of Severus Snape filled the room.
"Black!"
The whole order each had their own mirror they were to keep within easy access at all times. They worked like a two-way mirror but could connect with any of the order members respective mirrors, individually or multiple at a time. It was also untraceable.*
Sirius muttered a curse under his breath as he fished his mirror from his pocket. "What is it, Sn..."
"Where are you?" Snape interrupted, irritably.
"Grimmauld Place, Snape," Sirius snapped back. "Really, with the amount of times you remind me that..."
Lily shoved her way into the view of the mirror.
"What happened, Sev?" she asked.
"Potter has had a vision of Black in the Department of Mysteries," said Snape. James moved quickly to Sirius' other side. Snape looked unemotional as usual, but there was an urgency in his voice and manner. "He and Granger entered the forbidden forest with Umbridge, and they haven't been out. It is possible they have found a way to go to the Ministry themselves to release him. Who is with you?"
"Remus, Tonks, Kingsley, and Mad-Eye," James said, quickly looking around the room to find all of them standing and ready to go.
"You six need to go to the Ministry and get the children back," said Snape. "Weasley, his sister, Longbottom, and Lovegood may also be involved. The Dark Lord will certainly not be there personally, but that does not mean there won't be Death Eaters to take the prophesy should Potter remove it."
"What will you do?" Lily asked.
"I will search the forest," said Snape, "Hopefully, they simply ran into trouble there and haven't gone to the Ministry at all."
"Hang on," Sirius broke in loudly, "There are seven of us, last I checked."
Snape rolled his eyes. "You need to stay there, Black."
"If you think I'm going to just sit here and wait, you've got..!"
"Someone needs to stay behind and tell Dumbledore what has happened!" Snape interrupted, speaking even more loudly than Sirius.
"He's right, Sirius," said Lily. James could tell she was scared, not only for Harry and his friends, but also for Sirius. The last place he should be was the Ministry of Magic.
But, James understood Sirius' need to be a part of the fight. First of all, it would be the first battle of the Second Wizarding War. More importantly, it was Harry out there, and there was no one Sirius cared about more, except perhaps James himself and Remus. Besides, it seemed like this whole mess was happening because Harry wanted to rescue his Godfather. James knew quite well how he would feel in this situation, and he couldn't bring himself to tell his friend to stay behind.
"Kreacher can tell Dumbledore," said Sirius, in a tone that left no room for argument. "KREACHER!"
The house elf appeared in the kitchen with a crack. "Master called?" He said, bowing low, while muttering darkly under his breath about mudbloods, bloodtraiters, and half-breeds. James hated that elf, not because he called him bloodtraiter every other minute (he was rather proud of that), but because he insisted on calling his wife horrible names, Remus a half-breed, and drag up bad memories for Sirius.
"I need you to stay here and tell Albus Dumbledore exactly what I say," said Sirius, and he gave Kreacher the information.
"Kreacher must do as master wishes," Kreacher said, though James could tell that the house elf was delighted by the turn of events.
"On your head be it," Snape spat. "I've got to go, and you do too."
"Thanks, Sev," said Lily. Snape nodded at her and vanished from the screen.
"Come on, let's go," said Sirius, heading towards the door.
"Wait, Sirius," said Lily, "Maybe you should..."
"Lily, don't even try," said Sirius, "I'm going."
"I agree," said James. There wasn't time for anything else; Harry was in danger right now. "And we've got to go now."
The seven of them rushed out the door and disapperated.
*Dumbledore says the Order has more reliable forms of communication than the flu network, but as far as I know, these methods are never explained. I thought at first it might be the talking patronus's, but those seem to be only one way messages, so I decided, since two-way mirrors already exist in canon, I would just expand on that idea.
Has anyone heard the rumors of a Harry Potter tv show? What do you think it'll be about if true or what would you like to see?
