A/N 1: Even though it is very short, there is still a CW/TW I'd like to put out there. Walpurga Black is a VERY BAD WOMAN, okay? So if you don't want to see her torturing a small child, skip the part when Sala and Reggie hear a noise below and continue when she is calling for Narcissa in the floo. I will explain at the end to those who skipped why she was torturing him.
A/N 2: I struggled really, really hard writing this chapter. It ended up being a mammoth of a chapter (at least, considering I'm trying to write one "full" scene.
June 5th, 1984
The word in the streets was that Sala Zahar had just popped into existence one day. No one knew where he came from, only that he was well taken care of, had a string with a note tied around his ankle with his name on it, and somehow never wanted for anything despite having no one looking out for him. Of course, that didn't stop Mrs Hacker from looking out for him, but the kids in Littlest Angels Orphan Home often found Sala to be a strange child, and most of them stayed far away from him. The exception to this was the other odd boy from the batch of them, Regulus Prewett. The two seemed to be kindred spirits.
The day Sala arrived, so did all the boy's things, along with a personalised wardrobe that Mrs Hacker hid from the rest of the children. She seemed to know a secret but told no one and pretended it wasn't strange for such a thing to happen. Of course, since none of the children came near the oddball duo's rooms, none of the children noticed that no sound ever came from it. The only one in the loop, or so it seemed, was Mrs Hacker with her strange trusty device on the night table.
On one such day, on June 5th, less than a month after his arrival, a strange creature popped into existence at the edge of Sala's bed.
"Talby, no!"
The creature bowed so low his nose touched the edge of the carpets that had arrived the same day as he did.
"Talby is sorry, Master Sala."
Sala looked with wide eyes at Regulus, who, even at his tender age of four, almost five, raised his eyes brows at him, unimpressed.
"Nice house elf."
The amount of relief Sala had was palpable, and he fell back against his bed with a sigh.
"How do you know about house elves?"
Sala could see Reggie's mouth open and close before he snapped it shut.
"Um, because I'm smart?" Reggie tried, though Sala scoffed at him
"House-elves are magical! Smartness doesn't mean anything here. You won't know about house elves if you aren't magical."
"Who says I'm not magical?" Reggie snarked, clearly feeling like he was under interrogation despite Sala having accidentally revealed a secret.
"Prove it then," Sala said snootily, looking at his nails.
"Fine."
Sala could see a look on Reggie's face that made it seem he was having a battle with himself. He had seen the exact look on Talby's many times, especially right before the little elf declared that he couldn't take care of him without someone's help, which was obviously not true. Talby could do anything! He ended up here after that, and now Talby decided to return.
"Kreacher!" Reggie said out loud, having finally lost the expression on his face and now had one of determination pasted on instead. Sala, remembering how Reggie had given him an unimpressed expression earlier, gave one back now, feeling triumphant that whatever Reggie was trying to do wasn't working.
"Kreacher!" Reggie said again, a little more desperately, and to Sala's utter surprise, a house elf similar to Talby though clearly older, appeared right next to Reggie, who smiled, though Sala could see it didn't reach his eyes.
Frowning, Sala observed the two of them and wondered why the tiny creature wasn't showing the same respect a house elf ought to. There was a strong possibility that Sala was reading all these emotions wrong because until now, he only had Talby and a strange, pretty woman with blond hair that stared at him with an expression he couldn't understand for company. He usually dubbed her the white woman. Her visits had started recently, and Sala wondered if he would ever see her again.
"It can't be…" The elf was saying, moving away from Reggie, almost in fear.
"Sadly, it is." Reggie responded, "I'm sorry, Kreacher."
That boy was so odd, apologising to house elves…
And suddenly, Kreacher was sobbing, mentioning strange things like "locket" and blubbering apologies, "tried everything!"
Reggie had removed himself from the bed and wrapped his arms around the small creature, whose hysterics had increased.
"Um…" Sala muttered, looking to Talby for help, though his elf looked as scandalised as he did.
"Is mother still alive?" Reggie asked, his voice strengthening suddenly.
Sala tilted his head to the side, confused, but Reggie acted as if he wasn't there. What was this boy doing here if he had a mother?"
"M-mistress is alive, yes, Master Regulus."
Reggie's face twisted into that of something terrifying, and Talby must have felt the same because he automatically walked in front of him, his arm out, ready to cast and protect him.
"What did she do, Kreacher."
The elf, Kreacher, looked wildly around as if beseeching an answer out of them, but no one spoke.
"M-mistress bes h-having another s-son M-master R-r-regulus." Kreacher began banging his head against the night table without warning, but no one stopped him.
Regulus glared, aiming his hand at the strange thing on the night table, though nothing seemed to happen from his action.
"W-what's going on?" Sala finally asked, stuttering as much as the poor elf, though he was dignified enough from his lessons not to bang his head on things.
"Take me to him," Regulus demanded, "That's an order, Kreacher."
"Where are you going?" Sala asked, jumping up, blocking Regulus' path from where he had stood and holding his hand to Kreacher.
"Move."
"No! I'm not going to let you go by yourself!"
"It's my mother! I'll be fine!"
Sala scowled at Reggie and flicked his head, as he was taller than the other boy. "If it's your mother," Sala murmured to him when Regulus stood to his full height at their closeness, "then why are you here, and she's there?"
"What about you then?" Regulus asked him, clearly gesturing at the house elf.
"I have no one, only Talby." And some woman he didn't know but felt like he should. "And today is my birthday!" Sala trembled his lip, having learnt that one evening from a boy named Draco when the woman had taken him out of his manor for the first time. Talby had been raising him alone for an entire year before that happened, and the woman appeared shaken, though not entirely surprised at him being alone. "This is Draco," she had told him, "play nice boys…."
The door had opened what felt like moments later, and abruptly, he had been whisked away without even a goodbye, though he was sure the woman's face was streaked with tears as she left again.
"Fine, let's go." Reggie's voice brought him back to himself, and before he could even think about anything prudent, he was pulled away from Talby. However, despite the elf's shout as he disappeared from the orphanage, he safely reappeared in a dark room littered with green and silver adornments. Kreacher tried slinking away, but a shout from below made all three of them stop.
The boys stilled, knowing the sound of house elves and the possibility of it attracting attention.
"Kreacher, is that you?"
Regulus' hand flew out so fast that Sala fell back against the wall, feeling like he got whiplash.
"Yes, Mistress, it is Kreacher, Mistress."
The footsteps stopped ascending, and Reggie let out a breath of relief so hard he gasped.
"Why are you afraid of your mum?" Sala asked him, and despite the derisive look that crossed Reggie's face, it wasn't aimed at him.
"Mother likes to make use of the Cruciatus curse."
"Sounds like my dad…"
To his surprise, Regulus was a lot more upset about that than he expected.
"Bugger that!" Regulus snarled, his hands clenching.
"You cursed!" Sala said wide-eyed.
Reggie ignored him and said, "This was a stupid idea."
"I'm not the one that suggested to go and see your mum." Sala sneered.
"I'm sure my sweet mum didn't just stop using the Cruciatus, so…."
"You want to check on your brother? But how do you have a brother and not know about it?"
"Exactly."
Sala was sure he was missing something but didn't respond.
"Come on," Reggie murmured, taking his hand and leading him out of the dark room.
"What would have happened if she gave him your room and we just appeared?" Sala asked, his small voice showing how afraid he was.
Reggie ruffled his hair, but Sala flattened it back, glaring at him.
"I just turned four, you know?" he declared, knowing he sounded petulant.
"So? I'm almost turning five in, like, three months. Which means I have the power to ruffle your hair."
"No, I mean, today is my birthday."
Regulus stopped and stared. "Really?"
Sala nodded.
"Should I show you a prank for your birthday?" Regulus asked, grinning for the first time that day.
"Sure." Sala agreed, laughing.
Regulus flicked his hand at Sala and murmured, "Tergeo".
"Did anything happen?" Sala asked, unable to see himself, only the curving of Regulus' lips.
"See for yourself."
Reggie led him to a fancy bathroom, similar to the one he had seen in the blonde woman's house, and his eyes glistened suddenly at his reflection.
"Reggie, I look like Draco! I look like the blond lady!"
"Come again?" Regulus asked eloquently, but his eyes had tightened.
"Nothing…"
But it took everything for Reggie to drag him away, and nothing consoled him for the next five minutes until they had gone down a few flights of stairs and finally laid eyes on Reggie's brother for the first time.
"He's so small…" Reggie said a little breathlessly.
"You're small!" Sala countered, but a screech filled the room before they could say anything more.
"Why are you still not showing magic?" A voice shouted, and both boys fell back against the shadows. Sala could feel Reggie shaking and didn't blame him. This time, he took the boy's hand and squeezed.
"Oh god, no…." Regulus whispered as if he knew what was about to come; considering what the boy had told him moments earlier, he knew as well.
"CRUCIO!" Walpurga snarled, and the toddler screamed, his small body writhing around.
Forgetting for a moment that they were meant to be hiding from the scary woman, Sala stalked forward, unwilling to see on a child what his father had done to people much bigger than this tiny baby.
"Sala, no!" Reggie yelped, diving after him, and both tumbled to the floor in front of a startled toddler, who stopped screaming as soon as Walpurga lifted the spell, seeming in shock, too.
"DRACO MALFOY!"
Despite none of their names being Draco or Malfoy, both of them jumped, and before Sala could explain, Walpurga Black lifted Sala by the ear and dragged him to the fireplace, ignoring his struggles.
Through his tear-filled eyes, Sala could see Regulus scoop up the smaller boy, comforting him as best as an almost five-year-old could.
"How did you get into my house? And who is this ragamuffin you brought with you? My son is too young to play; he must learn how to do magic first!"
Neither boy answered, though Sala could see as he wiped his eyes, that there were tremors in both of the brothers.
"I'm hardly a ragamuffin mot-" Reggie stopped at the look on Sala's face.
"Let go of my son."
"No."
Walpurga scowled, throwing a pinch of green powder into the fireplace.
"Narcissa!"
After a moment, a woman's head popped into the fireplace, causing Sala to gasp. It was the white woman! She looked at him, and her eyes widened a fraction of a centimetre before smoothing out again.
"How can I help you, Mrs Black?"
"Come take your son, please."
"I'll be over in a moment."
"And take his sidekick with him; I must finish dealing with my child."
Narcissa stepped through the fireplace without bothering to respond.
"Come, let's go," she said to Sala, slightly shaking her head when his lip trembled.
"But what about Reg-"
"It's Laurie." Regulus interrupted him, his eyes drilling a hole into Sala's soul. "Laurie Prewett."
Sala didn't say anything.
"Okay, now get out of my house."
Regulus didn't move. "I'm not leaving him behind. She performed the Cruciatus curse on him!"
Sala was sure Regulus wanted to say that she had performed the curse on him too, but kept his mouth shut.
Narcissa's eyes narrowed, and without much fanfare, she flicked her wand, and ropes surrounded Walpurga. She flicked her wand again, whispering, "Expecto Patronum," a beautiful swan erupted, causing all three boys to gasp. "Please call at number 12, Grimmauld Place. A woman has performed the Cruciatus curse on a toddler." Narcissa patted the swan gently and murmured, "The Auror division in the Ministry of Magic, please." The swan bowed its head and went off. Not even five minutes later, Aurors began to swarm around the tied-up Walpurga, for all her insistence on blood purity and superiority could not escape the spell Narcissa Malfoy had performed.
Sala was shocked that the blonde woman didn't even double-check that they were lying and felt his heart warm a little. It was nice that she played along too, that he was her son, for he couldn't bear to think what would have happened if they were all left alone with the Black woman.
"Are you willing to testify about what happened?" an Auror asked, and she nodded confidently. "I am," she said.
"We both witnessed it." Regulus spoke up, "We can come to the trial too."
"That won't be necessary." Both an Auror and Narcissa said immediately, and Narcissa bowed to allow the Auror to speak instead. "We can administer Veriteserum. As she is a pureblood, the Wizengamot must give a majority vote to follow through with it."
Sala could see Regulus gritting his teeth but nodded.
Once the Auror had left, Narcissa, Regulus, Sala and the small toddler remained.
"Do either of you know his name?" Narcissa asked them. They both shook their head in the negative.
Narcissa pinched the bridge of her nose. "We need to go to Gringotts, and I need to pick up Draco. I am so lucky Lucius is not at home right now…"
With another sigh, Narcissa held her hand to Sala, who immediately took it and clung to it as if his life depended on it. "Laurie, come on," Narcissa told him gently, holding her other hand to him. Reggie took her hand, though Sala wondered why he looked uncomfortable doing so. "Perhaps it would be smarter if I hold Sala's hand, and you hold the baby? Travelling by the Floo Network is scary."
"Good idea, smart boy." Narcissa praised, and Sala watched as Reggie's face coloured a soft pink.
"You don't get nice things said to you much, do you?" Sala asked him quietly as they followed Narcissa into the Floo. "No, now hush," Reggie muttered, glaring.
"Malfoy Manor!" Narcissa called out, clearly and intentionally, pulling the two boys closer to her.
Sala was nervous as he clutched onto the white woman's hand, feeling her touch's familiar warmth and comfort, even though she had only shared her physical affection once.
He had heard about the Floo Network from his house elf, Talby, but had never used it himself. As they stepped into the fireplace, Sala felt a rush of excitement mixed with fear as the green flames enveloped him and the strange mix of people he had found himself with. He closed his eyes tightly, feeling as though he was being spun and tossed around like a leaf in the wind. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a completely different room, surrounded by unfamiliar walls and furniture. He looked up at the woman Narcissa he supplied himself, who was smiling down at him, if a little frosty, and then over at Reggie, who was already exploring their new surroundings. Sala felt a sense of pride and awe at the fact that he had just travelled through the magical network, and he couldn't wait to tell Talby about his incredible experience.
Reggie's brother threw up, which wasn't really a shock, Sala guessed, but rather than yell, Narcissa vanished the sick quickly and led them to another room, still holding the small child.
"Draco, darling!" Narcissa said as she walked into the sitting room.
"I'm in the library, Mother!" Sala heard the boy respond. Draco had never spoken to him before when they had met the first time, and he wondered if the boy would even remember him. Sala wasn't sure Draco even knew his name.
Narcissa sighed again.
"Come, Draco; we must be going. You can finish your studies later."
Sala could see Reggie get highly uncomfortable. Was going to Gringotts so bad?
When Draco arrived, seemingly ready to leave, Narcissa took the children by the hand and led them to the Floo Network for the second time in just a few moments.
"Hello, Mrs Malfoy." the barkeep chirped, to which Narcissa nodded politely and led them back to a small area. Thankfully, the toddler held his stomach this time, perhaps because he had already thrown up everything.
Sala noticed a brick wall with a sign that read "Diagon Alley." He couldn't understand how they were supposed to get through the wall. But, as they approached it, his blonde woman took out her wand and tapped the brick in a specific pattern. Suddenly, the wall began to move, and Sala's eyes grew wide with amazement as a passageway appeared.
The experience of walking through the moving wall was like nothing Sala had ever experienced before. The walls seemed to stretch and move around them as they made their way through the passageway. Sala felt like he was in a dream as the walls glimmered and the pub's sounds faded. He looked up at Narcissa, who was leading the way, and saw the look of unease on her face but couldn't understand why. They finally emerged on the other side, and Sala found himself in the bustling wizarding shopping district of Diagon Alley. He was awestruck by the sights and sounds and couldn't wait to explore. He had never seen so many shops and people in one place before. He held onto Narcissa's hand tightly as they walked through Diagon Alley.
He saw windows loaded with magical items, and he couldn't wait to explore them, though it seemed Narcissa had another task in mind as she led them away from the colourful shoppes and straight ahead to the tallest building in the Alley.
It seemed when they finally approached a towering marble building with a sign that read "Gringotts Wizarding Bank." Narcissa sped up her steps, forcing all three boys to run to keep up with her. At the same time, Narcissa didn't seem to have a problem keeping hold of the tiny child in her arms.
Sala had heard of the bank before but had never been inside. He couldn't believe he was finally going to see it for himself.
As they entered the bank, Sala was amazed by the sights around him. The walls were made of gleaming marble, and the ceilings were so high he had to tilt his head back to see them. Everywhere he looked, goblins in long, dark robes were moving about, carrying stacks of gold coins and speaking in low voices.
As they made their way to the counter, a goblin approached them. "How may I assist you?" the goblin asked in a deep, gruff voice. The blonde woman stepped forward and explained that they needed to access private information about a child. After checking their identification, the goblin nodded and ushered them into a private room.
Sala's eyes widened as he looked around the room. The walls were lined with shelves of glittering gold and silver coins, and large chests overflowed with precious jewels. He had never seen so much wealth in one place before. The goblin explained that they would need to sign some paperwork, and then they could access the vault, which would hold the information about the child. Sala watched curiously as Narcissa and the goblin spoke and signed various documents. He couldn't believe he was in a real-life wizarding bank. Reggie, on the other hand, looked pale and sour, glaring at everything, even Narcissa, who had yet to relinquish the hold on Reggie's brother.
The goblin informed them that, in order to access the family vaults, they would also need to provide proof of their blood relation. At four years old, Sala didn't quite understand what was happening, but he could sense the tension in the air.
Narcissa explained to the boys that they would need to give a small sample of their blood to the bank to verify their relationship with the toddler. Sala was nervous about having his blood taken, but he trusted the white woman and followed her lead.
"First, the direct blood relation." the goblin instructed, growling when Reggie hesitated. "Arm, now, or you will be removed from the bank."
Reggie stepped forward, his hand shaking slightly as he offered his arm to the goblin. The goblin took the proffered limb and drew a small vial of blood with a quick, practised motion. As Reggie watched, the goblin swirled the vial, muttering to himself in a guttural language. Suddenly, the goblin's gaze shot up to meet Reggie's, and his eyes narrowed. The goblin barked an order, and the rest of the family was swiftly ushered from the room, though Sala refused to leave.
"He can stay," Reggie said tiredly. "It doesn't matter anymore."
"You have travelled in time," the goblin growled, not bothering to argue. "You should not be here."
"And yet, Magic decided that I should be here, and considering what I found out, I was right."
"That young boy is related to you?" The goblin asked, gesturing with his chin to the people waiting outside.
"Yes, he is."
"Your blood gives off an interesting name, I see. Tried to trick magic, did you?"
Sala watched as Reggie's face coloured a bright red. The goblin scoffed in response. "No one can trick magic."
"What does it say my name is?" Reggie asked quietly.
"Regulus Lawrence Arcturus Prewett-Black"
"Wonderful," Regulus snarked.
Despite being allowed in the room, Sala was at a loss as to what was happening.
"Incidentally, it means you are the heir of both families," the goblin continued, checking his papers on the desk that had flourished from the blood Reggie had given him.
"What about the baby?" Regulus asked, clearly confused.
"Well, officially," the goblin explained, "Sirius Black is supposed to be the heir, but because he is in Azkaban, he loses that, and it falls to you. If you had died the way it was supposed to be, the baby outside would have taken the heir status."
"I don't even know his name," Regulus whispered, looking down.
"That is easily fixed. Once we can see that he is related to you, we can easily find his information and then see about any related personal vaults.
The others were allowed back in, and Narcissa held out the little boy's arm, where the goblin pricked his finger gently, and it immediately healed.
The goblin then used the blood samples of the Malfoys and Sala to see if their relationship had enough Black in it for them to come along. The Goblin gave a strange look to Narcissa after checking Sala's blood, to which she glared back, but he said nothing. Then he performed a spell and, after a few moments, declared that everyone was indeed related in some way, though he was sneering, but gave no one an issue to go to the toddler's vaults, though he stopped short suddenly and looked up at them.
"His name is Perseus Ursa Black," the goblin stated. "He has yet to come into his magic, meaning there's a small chance he is a squib."
Sala could see Narcissa grimace but gave no other outward response. "His birthday is listed as November 10th, 1981, and he is currently two years and seven months old."
"Does it say how old I am?" Regulus asked quietly, ignoring how rude it was to interrupt.
"September 23, 1979." The goblin stated.
"So it's the same but not," Regulus asked, stunned.
"Yes."
"Now, before I was disrupted, I was explaining the situation. It says that Mrs Black had not yet made a vault for him because he had not shown signs of being magical."
The goblin sneered at all of them. "You are, therefore, dismissed. If anyone else needs to go down to their vaults, you may return to a teller and request as much."
Narcissa nodded her thanks and dragged the children out of there.
"What did he mean by time—" Sala began, though quickly stopped talking as Regulus stomped on his foot hard enough to draw a gasp.
Narcissa had enough grace to pretend she had not seen the interaction.
As they exited the bank, Narcissa gathered the children close to her. She looked tired but relieved that they had finally accomplished what they had come to do. However, she had no idea where to take it from here. The sky was dark, indicating they had been inside Gringotts for several hours. As they walked towards the entrance of the Alley, Narcissa called out to her house-elf, Dobby. The tiny elf appeared with a pop and came to stand in front of her. "Dobby, would you be so kind as to help carry Draco? I need to carry Ursa." Dobby bowed his head in agreement and took Draco in his arms. Reggie, taking the same idea, called Kreacher and asked him to carry Sala, who tried throwing a fit, but a glare from Regulus stopped him.
"Where are we going, Mrs Malfoy?" Regulus asked, walking with his back ramrod straight, looking like the perfect little pureblood, more so even than Draco.
"I need to bring you back to where you came from," Narcissa responded though she looked unhappy about it. "I'm going to try and bring you around for tea when I can, though,"
Sala was sure Narcissa could feel the weight of the day's events pressing down on her. She looked utterly spent and exhausted. He decided not to tell anyone how he felt grateful that he was being held. The sun had disappeared entirely from the sky, and the Alley was now lit with lights. All of them were ready for bed, their feet dragging as they made their way past the newsstand as they went towards the bricks and back to the pub. The evening edition of the Daily Prophet was already out, and Sala could see the first headline, Walpurga Black of the Sacred 28 Sent to Azkaban. From the expression on Narcissa's face, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease, knowing that the wizarding world was now aware of her family's connections to the infamous Black family and how now, there were two crazy Blacks in Prison. She could feel the curious stares of those around her, and she quickened her pace, not wanting to linger in the public eye for too long.
Narcissa stopped abruptly, and the others followed when they saw a familiar group of people in a photograph underneath the Walpurga Black Article.
Narcissa Malfoy Spotted in Gringotts with Four Children
The wizarding world was stunned today as Narcissa Malfoy, one of the most prominent and respected pureblood families in the Wizarding community, was seen at Gringotts Bank with four young children in tow, one of which was held personally in her arms.
Eyewitnesses reported that the four children, two of which appeared to be twins, a dark-haired boy and a toddler, were all walking hand in hand with the Malfoy Matriarch. This surprising sight has led to much speculation and excitement within wizarding society, with many eager to discover the children's identity and what their presence with Narcissa might mean.
While some members of the wizarding community have speculated that the twins might be the offspring of Narcissa and her husband, Lucius Malfoy, others have suggested that the dark-haired boy and toddler might be related to the Malfoys in some way, or that they could be unrelated children that Narcissa is caring for.
Despite the speculation and rumours, there has been no official statement from the Malfoy family regarding the identity of the children. This has only added to the intrigue and mystery surrounding the sighting at Gringotts.
This unexpected appearance of Narcissa with four young children is undoubtedly a surprising turn of events and has captured the attention of the wizarding world. The Daily Prophet will follow this story closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.
The wizarding community is eager to see what will come of this unexpected sighting and its impact on the Malfoy family and the wizarding world at large. This is a story that will be watched closely and one that promises to be full of twists and turns as the truth about the identity of these children is revealed."
As she read the headline and article, Sala watched as Narcissa's face paled. She quickly gathered the boys and ushered them away from the newsstand, hurrying back towards the Leaky Cauldron. Sala couldn't help but feel a sense of disquiet as he wondered what the article meant for their future. As they entered the pub, Sala turned back towards the newsstand, catching a glimpse of the headline one last time before it was lost from view. He couldn't shake the feeling that something big was about to happen, and he couldn't help but wonder what it meant for him and the people he had got close to.
"Did you know Narcissa is your mother?" Reggie's voice drifted towards him.
Sala looked up at him sharply, though the boy was looking straight ahead, hardly moving his lips.
"What? Is that true?"
Regulus gave a jerk of his head, "I saw when you gave blood. It was one of the reasons that the Goblin looked strangely at Mrs Malfoy."
"Did you see who my father was?" Sala asked though he didn't need to be told. At this very minute, he still had a missive written by his father.
My Son, Sala Zahar It is with a heavy heart that I write this missive to you, but it is necessary that you know and understand the legacy that you come from. You are the son of Lord Voldemort, the heir to the powerful and ancient wizarding bloodline of Salazar Slytherin. As you know, I have dedicated my life to the preservation and elevation of a pureblood wizarding kind, and it is my fervent hope that you will continue this work after I am gone. You are the embodiment of the power and might of our people, and it is your responsibility to ensure that our legacy is not lost. You must understand that the world is constantly changing, and those who do not adapt will be left behind. The wizarding world is no different, and it is imperative that we continue to strive for dominance and control. You must be vigilant, my son, and always be on the lookout for threats to our kind. In particular, I must warn you of the danger posed by one individual, Harry Potter. He is the symbol of all that is wrong with the wizarding world, a half-blood who has been granted power and privilege that he does not deserve. It is your duty, should anything happen to me, to ensure that he is defeated and our kind remains supreme.
Yours always, Lord Voldemort
Sala clutched at his pocket, but no one seemed to notice. Thankfully Regulus shook his head; he had not seen. Sala kept his sigh of relief minimal. It appeared that the white woman was his mother, after all. Should he double-check…? "Mum?" he asked, his voice soft, but his voice carried in the quiet and empty Alley. Narcissa looked at him, stricken. "Mum?" A harder, colder, more dangerous voice swept in, and before Sala could do anything, Regulus was in front of him, his arm stretched out. Lucius Malfoy had joined the fray, and suddenly the two adults had their wands drawn, Narcissa handing Ursa to Dobby and blocking all of them with her body. "Feel like explaining, Narcissa? Or do I need to kill everyone here?"
End A/N: For those that skipped, Walpurga was trying to force magic out of Ursa because she thinks he is a squib - though obviously, using an Unforgivable is not really the way to go
