Welcome to a quick return.

Was injured at work, so I'm at home for at least a few days…

Stupid distracted people not doing their job…

Anyways!

This story has been on my mind, and I couldn't get it off.

So I kept going with it, at least for now.

Now for a request for somewhat soon in the story.

Need help with team names, so minor spoilers ahead.

One is the letters F, R, P, Y, and the other is B, W, N, R.

If you can make something out of these that resembles a RWBY team name, I'd be appreciated it and give a shout-out!

Will be using the Fen name more commonly for at least this opening section.

Naruto will be the more common name later.

Anyways, onto the story.

"I've already done enough, haven't I? Now you are asking me to do more? What if I said I wanted to rest and finally see my family?"

"Fen…" His mother's concerned voice made his ears curl as he sat across the small, rickety kitchen table from her and his father, both sharing a distraught expression. "Is this where your source of income has been coming from? That you have been moonlighting as a street thug?"

Wincing at her tone and the shimmer of his parents' eyes, Fen found it difficult to make eye contact with them. It felt like he had disappointed them. They always expected the best from him and to know that he was doing something like this to help their family…

"I would say I am more of a street sweeper or freelance vigilante. I take out the trash from our district and keep them out. Other times, I take care of victims and accost the criminals responsible, profiting from them in the process." Fen answered, unable to meet their gaze as he stared at the table.

"Fen!" He heard his father's voice filled with disappointment, her gaze harshly falling upon him. "I know times are challenging, but this? What made you think something like this would be okay? Your actions always have consequences. Just look what happened…"

"This was an accident not prompted by my moonlighting. Or if it was, not directly." Fen held back a weak, nervous chuckle he wanted to let out. "Um, you remember a month ago when that racist shopkeeper got fed up with me stealing groceries as he would be reasonable instead of calling the police?"

"Oh no…" His mother sighed pitifully as his father looked genuinely upset. "He did it again this afternoon. This is why I told you that sometimes things are just the way they are, and we have to accept them. If he's resorting to calling the Xiong…"

"You stole groceries again!" His father's voice rang, outraged hearing what his son had done again. "We don't need more trouble with that shop! It's the only shop nearby, and he's barely willing to sell to Faunus as is! The only thing keeping him from blocking access is that he has to obey the law as this is a low-income district."

"Not when he's charging four times the price! I'm standing for that kind of robbery so he can shove it!" Fen's head shot up, and he raised his voice in return, his eyes sparkling with rebellion.

His father snarled at this. However, what he said next brought his wife's ire upon him. "He would have those groceries thrown in his face! Ain't no way I would pay that exorbitant amount! His store already charges high enough prices as it is! Maybe a fire bo…"

"Ben!" His mother snapped at his father, her eyes gleaming in frustration. "Do not encourage him! And you wonder why he has this rebellious streak in him."

"Sorry, Ze…" His father lowered his head shamefully, his ears falling limp at the tone she took with him.

Clicking her tongue on the roof of her mouth and taking a breath, his mother's gaze returned to him, and her eyes glistened with worry again. "Fen, did you consider hiding this from us? That doing something like this was the right decision? I know you desire to be a Huntsman, and I'm sorry we couldn't afford admission to Pharos when we arrived in Vale and managed to find a safe place…"

"Could you not bring that issue up? I'm still bitter about it." His father sneered, his ears flattening. "They have programs where they take the most talented into their Academies free of charge. But neither Signal nor Pharos came to our door despite how gifted he's always been when we applied. But no, they didn't offer him one. I just bet it was because…"

"Ben," Ze's voice interrupted him, and he winced, knowing the tone, and didn't continue any further as she gently gazed upon him and then back at their son. "What if something had happened like tonight but worse? Think about what could have happened. Operating like a Huntsman without a license is a problem. You don't have the luxury of possessing a trainee license that Primary Combat Schools give their students. So many things could have gone awry."

"And you are lucky they haven't." His father echoed his mother's sentiment, a frown adorning his face. "So often, these gangs will pursue after someone's family if they feel who they're dealing with is untouchable. Now I know the Xiong clan isn't as fearsome as they once were, but they can still be brutal…"

"Not with Junior running them. They are a shell of what the rumors say they are, mostly kept up by them and those that fear what they used to be." Fen shook his head, catching his parents by surprise as his voice shifted tone. "And after tonight, I have them in my back pocket. If they dare step out of line here, I'll make them regret their actions. They know their place in the pecking order and damn well know what I'll do if they try anything."

"Fen…" His mother's voice spoke with trepidation, her hand covering her chest as he spoke. "This reminds me too much of when we left… Since when have you…"

"Been like this?" His father finished, seeing his wife struggling to speak because he also found it difficult to hear his son suddenly talk like he was. "You were always far more mature despite brief moments of excitement and anger, but I've never seen this side of you before. Fen, we're worried. This is too much like what we ran from…"

Exhaling, flicking his hand through his spiky locks and ears, Fen's eyes glimmered. He could never tell them the truth.

That this was his second life. That he carried his previous life memories with him throughout. That no matter how well they took care of and raised him, he knew who he was from the very beginning. That despite their loving care…

His personality was already shaped.

They did a fantastic job. It was a blessing to experience having loving parents growing up. To experience what it was like to have a family that was there for him day in and out. It was something he treasured...

Although having to go through childhood and puberty again was an experience he didn't want to endure again…

If he didn't know any better, those Gods did this to him on purpose…

"I've always been like this," Fen said in a sullen tone, his ears curling as he spoke. "Ever since I was young. It's been there since the beginning. Driven by my desire to protect and care and that part of me will commit to any length to see it done. It's innate for me, and I know what to do and how to respond, just like with fighting. I've always known how to and was better than everyone else. I can't explain it. It's always been there. This is just a part of who I am. I've always had this side to me."

"It is why I intend to be a Huntsman and why it has always been my goal." Fen bit his lip and looked into his parents' shocked eyes. "I want to make a difference not just here at home. I want to make it everywhere…"

"I want to change the world. And this is the only way I know how to."

That is an acceptable answer. It shows you understand the significance of death. But a correction of our actions needs to be made, and one that does not understand its meaning is at the root of the problem.

We ask you because we believe you are the one who can alter the course of events about to take place on a planet we have long given up on, until now.

The planet you have cultivated is marvelous and, while still flawed, is something to be admired. We humbly ask if you would be willing to do it again.

And save many more lives that are about to perish from our foolish decision.

This was a rough start to the day.

He needed to clear his head, so he went for a walk while his parents were at home. Most likely discussing him. So that's why Vix came along with him, as they didn't want her home.

Didn't want to bring her into the conversation. It was also a tradition to take Vix out for ice cream for celebrations and special occasions.

His parents were upset and unsure how to handle what he had been doing for the last two years to help earn an income for the house. They didn't understand why their son seemed to be far more than what they had thought.

He couldn't blame them. He didn't want any of this to happen. Stupid fool called the wrong people…

"Stay away from the store. Stay away. Don't do it…" Fen muttered as he felt his hand twitch as a specific building came within sight, and he refrained from reaching into his pouch.

Firebombing was not the answer. Even if it was tempting, the accident last time didn't seem to help anyway...

Just made him even more of a jerk. He wouldn't be reasoned with by talking…

Maybe he should try waterboa…

"Fen?" Vix's chipper voice broke through his horrific thought process, and he turned his attention back to his little sister. "Are you okay? Mom and Dad seemed upset too…"

Softly smiling, Fen ruffled through his sister's fluffy hair, causing her to yip and nearly bit his hand. "Woah there, shark bait!"

"You know I don't like that!" Vix huffed, holding her arms crossed and turning away from her brother.

"Yeah, I know." Fen warmly chuckled at his sister's reaction before sighing as he pocketed his hands into his jacket. "Everyone is worried as things happened last night out of our hands. It was a bit messier than I would have liked, but Dad got back home, and things will sort themselves out, alright?"

Seeing her shoulders slump and head lower, Fen noted Vix's step slowing. Her eyes misted, and she sniffled. "They found out about you beating up bad guys, and they want you to stop, don't they?"

"Hey now," Fen stopped and bent in front of his sister, patting her shoulders and smiling broadly. "Why are you more upset about that than me?"

"Because it's awesome, and so many people are safer because of it!" Vix pouted, stamping her foot as she looked up into her brother's eyes tearfully before looking away shamefully. "Don't have to worry about those scary guys like we did when we were younger, and Mom and Dad were always scared… After we left… And we were home…"

"I know, I know." Fen gently combed through his sister's hair to comfort her. "Things will get better. Like they were back home, and Mom wasn't hurt. That's why I'm heading to Beacon."

Internally he wished you could have told her they never had to worry about them, but that would have been a lie. He was still learning to improve the limits of his body's strength, and back then, he wasn't nearly as capable.

More capable than he was at that age in Konoha, but he would have been upset if he wasn't given his years of experience and knowledge and how to train. He couldn't guarantee anyone's safety, let alone do what he was doing now.

"Okay…" Still sniffling despite her brother's words, Vix gazed upward and into his eyes, hers glistening wet. "But won't you need lien too while you're away?"

Grinning at Vix, Fen switched from combing her hair to ruffling it. The sudden shift surprised her, and she nearly snapped at him again. "Who do you think I am, Vix? Do you think I will just stop beating up bad guys, especially when I'm out on my own and have a license to do so? Nah, gonna go out there and make an even bigger difference!"

"Yeah, that's my big brother." Vix smiled with a little more vigor and spirit in her voice.

"Now," Standing up and scouting for the particular shop he was looking for, Fen's grin widened, and his eyes twinkled as he looked down at his sister. "Let's say we get some ice cream and cheer ourselves up, shall we?"

"Yay! Ice…" Vix jumped up excitedly before stopping as a curious sound reached her ears. "What's that sound?"

"What?" Fen blinked, his top ears twitched before a specific engine roar caught his attention, and his head snapped in the direction he heard it from. "Oh, for Oum's sake, not you! Why are you here?"

Taking off her yellow helmet and sliding off her bike, the cockiest grin came from a young woman with shining blonde hair as it whisked behind her as a second figure stayed seated. "Well, hello to you too. Just came by after dropping your dad off last night to check if everything was going okay. It was only there that I found you weren't home, so I had to come looking for ya."

"And why are you looking? I was okay, end of search. Buh-bye." Fen gnashed his teeth, holding back a growl at the annoying girl next to him, feeling like he had dealt with someone like this before…

He mentally cursed. He had…

It was him when he was younger!

"What? Can't a girl scope out a potential rival at Beacon? One that's caught their eye and interest." Yang continued to grin broadly before noticing Vix looking curiously at her. "Oh? Oh-ho! Is this perhaps your sister? She's so cute! Hi there! I'm Yang."

"Yes, this is my sister, Vix." Naruto groaned as he felt Vix tug at his shoulder and glanced down at her.

"Is this the girl you didn't come back home with that one night?" Vix asked curiously and tilted her head. "The one when you came in the morning and looked exhausted and said you spent all night danc…"

"No!" Fen shook his head fiercely, his ears stiffening and his eyes bulging. "Definitely not her!"

"I met them last night." Yang grinned, and Fen's entire body became rigid before his head snapped at her, sending a deathly glare her way. "They were fun."

"They?" Vix asked in confusion, not understanding the context of what dancing meant, thankfully, before nodding her head in understanding. "Oh, that's why big brother was tired. Having two dance partners to keep up with all night must be difficult."

"I bet." Yang's smirk was now ear to ear, seeing how uncomfortable the blonde fox was while his sister nodded sagely.

From the intensity of hatred in his body, he attempted to bore a hole into her head. Oh, he wanted to do things to her right now. Horrible, miserable, pleasurable…

And now his mind was betraying him because of that outfit of hers! Stupid, sexy…

"They'll never find the body."

"Oh, menacing! I like it!"

"Um, Yang?" Another voice came from behind Yang as the second figure slid off the motorcycle, removing their helmet to reveal their black hair with red highlighted tips.

And the brightest silver eyes he had ever seen before.

"Is this guy you told me about this morning?" The girl commented meekly, Fen noting she was at least a year or two younger than he was based on her frame and size.

"Oh right, let me introduce ya!" Yang glanced back at the unnamed girl and directed her hands toward Fen, her eyes sparkling as she did. "This is Uzumaki Naruto. Or Fen. Or… What actually is your name? I'm confused now after last night."

"Fen is his name. Naruto is what his friends call him." Vix commented, still gazing curiously at this strange person who had driven up to meet with her brother, unsure what to think about her.

"Oh, ho! We're friends already, I see!"

Fen twitched but otherwise didn't respond. He regretted many things about last night…

"And this here," Yang danced over to the new girl, smiling as she did. "Is my sister!"

"Oum, there's more of them." Fen rolled his eyes before praying. "Save me from this…"

"Quiet you! She's nothing like me!" Yang roared as she stomped in annoyance, hearing Naruto's prayer.

Naruto immediately countered. "Thank you, Oum! That would be a travesty!"

"Um, hi." All attention returned to Yang's sister as she interrupted the argument Fen and Yang were having with a wave, brightly smiling as she closed her eyes. "My name is Ruby Rose. Nice to meet you."

"Oh," Fen was taken aback by the brilliance of Ruby's genuine smile and felt sheepish for ignoring her this entire time. "Sorry about that. Your loud mouth sister was kind of hogging all the attention…"

"Yo! You trying to start something, punk?" Yang pounded a fist into her open hand gesturing toward Fen with her fingers, beckoning him to bring it. "Because we can finish what we never started last night! Let's go! Right here! Mono-e-Yang-o!"

"Nice to meet you!" Vix happily greeted Ruby, brightly smiling back while tilting her head, interrupting the fight attempt.

"Likewise!" Ruby smiled back before grinning at the two blondes staring one another down. "So this is your boyfriend, huh?"

"I was about to say the same thing!" Vix clapped her hands. "Big brother's got a girlfriend! Yay!"

Both of their eyes widened significantly at the accusations. Without hesitation, they snapped at their sisters, who only giggled at their vehement denials.

"No! Not in a hundred years! Not my type!"

"I do not! You could not pay me enough!"

"Yo, what? Am I not good enough for you?"

"You want to go there, huh? A hundred years and not my type?"

"Let's leave the lovebirds be," Ruby whispered to Vix, who nodded in agreement as Fen and Yang argued back and forth before her eyes lit up upon seeing a particular shop. "Ice cream! Maybe they'll have cookie dough flavor!"

"I like that one too!"

"One scoop or two!"

"Two, please!"

"Alright, let's go!" Ruby pointed forward and valiantly led the charge to the ice cream shop, Vix in tow as their older siblings continued their row.

"Furthermore, you are all tits and no ass! No cushion!"

"I have plenty of cushion, see!"

"Did you just seriously do that in public?"

"We're in public?"

"Dammit. You're playing me here. If you are intrigued by me, then you already have a good idea of who I am, and that's not something I can say no to."

That is why we are giving you the choice. There is another that piques our curiosity.

But you are most certainly our first choice and who we prefer to correct our error.

"I am so embarrassed." Yang held a hand over her scarlet face, seated alongside her sister and Fen and Vix at the table with them at the ice cream parlor. "I can't believe I talked about all of that in public. People saw me do that! Oum, what would Dad do if he saw that?"

"Lecture you for two hours and then tell you to change outfits as he doesn't want his daughter wearing something so revealing." Ruby nommed some ice cream while giving her sister the answer she didn't want to hear.

"He needs to let it go that this outfit makes my figure pop!" Yang snapped and banged her hands on the table, annoyed as she knew that was the truth.

"Pop out of it, you mean?" Fen remarked, earning a steamed glare from Yang and two exasperated sighs from Vix and Ruby. "One good tug, and you're coming right out of it."

"You would like that, wouldn't ya?" Yang nastily glared at Fen while narrowing her eyes.

"How am I supposed to answer that?" Fen questioned as he tilted his head in response. "If I say yes, then I am a perv that wants to go around grabbing your shirt and ripping it off. No means I have no interest at all. With all your other taunting going on, pick a lane, dammit!"

"There's interest?" Yang perked up with a grin before biting into the strawberry sherbert she ordered.

"That's what you gleamed from what I just said?" Fen rolled his eyes and groaned as he threw back his head before sighing and taking a bite of his Neapolitan ice cream, savoring the delicious taste. "Sure, whatever. Think what you want."

"Well, you'll have to take me out on another date before I consider it!" Yang smirked before gesturing toward herself. "Because that's the only way to win your way to this heart is by showing this girl a Yanger of a time!"

Fen stared blankly at Yang. He then turned to Ruby with a tilted and questioning look and gestured at Yang. "How?"

Ruby only smiled. "I get that a lot. Trust me. We don't know either."

"But at least we are all talking and not fighting." Vix smiled happily as she finished her bowl of ice cream before frowning. "Ah, it's been so long since. I kind of want more…"

"Since you had ice cream?" Yang frowned, glancing at Vix as she put down her spoon. "It's not that expensive unless you have some sort of stomach issue or are lactose intolerant."

"We don't have extra lien to spend and must be careful with what we have." Fen sighed before reaching over and giving his sister a gentle and comforting squeeze on her shoulder. "Dad's job doesn't pay much, and our mom is on disability. Any additional income comes from my weekend job and doing… What I do."

"I get treated on my birthdays and special occasions." Vix smiled while closing her eyes. "Big brother was taking me out for a treat as he got accepted into Beacon today, so thank you very much!"

Yang's eyes narrowed, and her mood soured upon hearing that. Ruby looked shocked at hearing that before putting down her spoon. "You're welcome, but I, uh… Yang, need a little help here!"

"Seriously?" Was the only word to come out of Yang's mouth, and Ruby's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

"Yang!"

"That's insensitive!"

"That wasn't her intent. I can assure you, I understood it perfectly well." Fen shook his head, alleviating Ruby's concern before locking his gaze with Yang's. "Yeah. All of us combined make just enough to stay afloat. Thanks to my moonlighting, I've managed to make just enough extra this last year so we could afford a few extra necessary things. Even then, I have to be careful as what I'm doing isn't technically legal as, unlike you, I never went to Pharos or Signal and don't have a trainee license to at least be rebuked for the things I was doing."

"Again, seriously?" Yang held out her hand as she couldn't believe what she heard. "Signal and Pharos have programs where they take in those with high potential. I'm not saying you can't be like Ruby here was a few years ago, but the way you fought was too clean to be something quickly learned and was clearly honed for years. Why wouldn't they take you in? That doesn't make sense to me."

Naruto sighed. This was the same thought process that bothered his father. It led him to believe it was either racism or they had records on them and didn't want to be associated with him. And if it was the latter, it was made more interesting considering Beacon accepted him…

"Do you want an answer? As it isn't a pleasant one that someone that isn't a Faunus would want to hear." Fen responded simply and made Yang stiffen.

However, it seemed to confuse Ruby. "I don't get it. Why?"

"Ruby…" Yang interjected and gave her sister a pitying look. "Hey, I'll tell you why when we get home so you can ask questions in a less awkward spot, okay?"

"...Okay?" Ruby looked further confused, and now it mixed with worry.

Examining Ruby for a moment, Fen closed his eyes and shook his head. She was sheltered. In some ways, that was a blessing, as she harbored no ill will toward anyone. But it also meant she was clueless about how some things worked in the world around her. No doubt she knew how some of it worked, but she was left at a disadvantage because of it.

"Big brother," Vix pulled at Naruto's sleeve, her eyes darting across the shop and focusing on two men placing a flier on the billboard the parlor offered for other business and events. "We need to go. Now…"

"Vix?" Fen was alerted to her frightened tone and stiff features and quickly found the source of it, his eyes narrowed as a growl emanated from his throat. "Got it. I'm getting you home."

"Huh?" Yang looked confused, seeing two men leaving the parlor as Fen carefully eyed them, his posture very aggressive.

Almost ready to strike at any moment.

"What is it?" Ruby curiously moved and took the flier from the billboard, frowning as she returned it to the table. "It's just a flier about a rally for Faunus rights? What's the issue? I understand Faunus have had trouble in the past…"

"It's not!" Vix shook her head, grabbing the flier from Ruby's hands, ripping and tearing it apart with her claws as she snarled. "It belongs to them!"

"It's a recruitment flier." Fen snarled as he stood up from his chair, seeing the two men were far out of sight. "For the White Fang. They're in Vale, and we need to leave. I need to get Vix back home before I do anything else…"

"Wait, what's going on?" Yang sounded worried, getting up and trying to decipher what was happening. "Do you need help? I can assist..."

"I'm taking my sister home first and foremost." Fen growled, his eyes livid with hatred. "If you wanna follow, I can't stop you considering what happened last night! But know this isn't going to be the same and you are making an enemy for life."

"I'm not letting them in here without a fight. Not after what happened and what they did!"

"Yeah, that's not giving me a choice! That's telling me you plan on bringing someone to fix something you screwed up! I can't let someone else take on that hardship with a clean conscience, so you got yourself a deal! So do what you've got to do to make this work, but I'll fix it."

Very well. Brace yourself, mortal.

Prepare for your Ascension.

It is time for you to be Reborn!

Notes: I wanted to follow the Color Naming Rule for Naruto in this go with Remnant. So he and his family are represented by Aryl, which is short for Arylide Yellow. It's a muted tannish yellow which I felt was appropriate considering that I wanted Vix and Ben to have dusty brown hair and Ze to share Fen/Naruto's blonde.

Fen is obviously short for Fennec Fox. Vix is, yes, short for the female term of a fox, Vixen. Ben is that of the Bengal Fox, which is what I was going for with his concept. As for Ze, it's short for Zerda, which is part of the full species name of the Fennec Fox, Vulpes Zerda.
