A/N: Hello everyone, I hope that you enjoyed the last chapter. I know that there was a lot in there, this chapter will contain more of the meeting with the Bank President as well as some other fun stuff. This chapter has been edited to its current version by my beta MionellSparlockineco and myself.
Harry and the others waited patiently as the tea that Ragnarok had summed was brought. He had been surprised to find that they had only been here for nearly two hours. It was still odd knowing that Sirius held him in such high regards without knowing who he would become to name him his heir if he had no children of his own.
"Now, there are some matters that need to be addressed with you at this time Lord Potter." Ragnarock said as three scrolls suddenly appeared on his desk, each of them held the seals of three different Houses. "These are the marriage contracts that your father was working on before his death."
Harry looked at the three scrolls warily, it seemed odd from what he knew of his parents for them to have made arranged marriages for him at his birth. He turned to Professor McGonagall hoping that she would shed some light on the mystery.
"Harry, it is quite common and Law in our world when one is the Head of more than one House, whether Minor or Major, for them to take multiple wives to better continue the lines of each house without further requiring that one Lord or Lady be the Head of many." She said as she pointed to the three marriages. "Your Parents always knew that if you had multiple tittles Laws would require you to try to pass on them each to a different son and rather than create mayhem between siblings it has been custom to take multiple wives, which is legal in all magical communities."
Harry stared at her in bewilderment. "So, my parents helped to establish a possible Lady for each House that I Head."
"Exactly." Professor McGonagall said as she flicked her wand, breaking the seal on the contracts.
"By this breaking of the seal, I Minerva McGonagall bring forthwith any legal bindings that these contracts may bring, should Lord Harry James Potter, of the Houses Potter, Peverell, Black, and Gryffindor have choice in their legality let it be known now hence he may make his legal choice thereafter learning of the content of these contracts and their binding affirmations." She said as she gently touched her wand to the broken seals, a jet of aqua light streaming from her wand into each seal.
"With this I set forth that anything legally binding in these contracts that you have the option to choose to break legally will be presented and explained to you alongside any that you do not have the option to break in any manner." She said as she stowed her wand back into her robes.
"I see, so some of these contracts I may have no way out of if I were to wish to not see them through." He said, staring at the contracts with many varied emotions as he awaited their content.
Hermione gently reached over and took his hand in hers again, her parents watching the exchange with bated breath. She lifted his hand to her lips and softly kissed the back of his hand as she smiled softly, though you could also see the ache in her eyes at the thought of having to share him.
"I understand your parents thinking." She said as she waved to the contracts. "I would not want our children fighting over something that we leave behind, so this in many ways is the answer to many of the things we may face in our lives."
He smiled gently and pulled her close, kissing her softly before turning back to Ragnarok. "I am ready to see what my parents had to say regarding my life."
Ragnarok smiled and nodded, pulling one of the scrolls from his desk. "This is the seal of House Greengrass." He said as he unrolled the contract and spread it on his desk. "Your's is the second marriage of this house to be set in contract."
Harry raised a brow. "Who is the other person?"
Ragnarok smiled, "Well, per the terms of this contract you are to Marry the second daughter of the family, Miss Daphne Greengrass." He said as he read through the names portion of the contract. "I am afraid that this contract is not one that can be broken. The reason being is that this contract is nearly three generations in the making. The Greengrasses and House Black as well as House Potter all are interrelated thanks to marriages into House Black. This contract is essentially to ally Houses Greengrass and Potter through marriage."
Harry nodded, he knew there were two students at Hogwarts who were named Greengrass. He had heard the name a few times in classes and in the halls, however the fact of which house they belong to made things rather complicated.
"Harry." Hermione said as she answered his thoughts aloud much to his embarrassment. "Just because the Greengrass sisters are in Slytherin, does not mean anything. Appearances alone do not mean everything."
Harry sighed, "I know, but I have never even spoken to her."
Everyone laughed softly at the fact that this was nothing like anyone had planned at all. "I'm sorry..." He said softly, smiling at her.
"It's ok." She said as she turned and motioned for Ragnarok to continue.
"The legality of this scroll is already in effect, as of your coming of age you were legally betrothed to Miss Greengrass, this has already been recorded in both your families accountings." Ragnarok said as he tapped the scroll and it vanished. "I have sent this down to your family's vault as well as a legal copy within both the Greengrass and Black family vaults."
Harry nodded as the goblin took up the next scroll, this time he was surprised to find that it was something he recognized. "Hey, I've seen that on some of the things Padma and Parvati wear." He said, pointing to the indian mosaic on the design of the crest.
Ragnarok nodded. "This marriage contract is a bit odd." he said as he unrolled the scroll and smoothed it out. "Most marriage contracts only pertain to one child, this however pertains to both of the Patil twins, Miss Padma and Miss Parvati of House Patil. The children of miss Padma are to continue on the line of House Patil, while those of Miss Parvati are to continue on the line of House Gryffindor."
Harry blinked, the fact that he knew both of the girls was a little alarming, yet he knew that despite their love of gossip they were good people and true friends. "I think I can live with this one." He said as he turned to see Hermione smiling earnestly.
"Parvati is great!" She said as she shook her head. "I always enjoyed her company when I needed some girl time her and Lavender Brown would always cheer me up."
Harry smiled, "well, then at least you will have a friend or two in this mess." He said as he lightly took her hand in his, stroking the back of her fingers with his thumb softly.
"Unfortunately, this contract also cannot be broken." He said as he tapped it and it too disappeared into the respective vaults. "Your parents wished for the Patils to be married into House Peverell due to their centuries long friendship and alliance. This is the reword for nearly twelve centuries worth of loyalty."
Harry nodded seeing no reason to argue against the marriage, though in his heart he had wished to only have one wife. He understood the reasons behind all of this, though he truly regretted their necessity.
"This last contract." Ragnarok said as he smoothed it out, is the last contract that Mr. Potter himself is in." he continued indicating that this would be the last that they would hear at this time.
"This contract is a binding marriage contract between yourself and Miss Susan of House Bones who is to become Lady Peverell." He said, reading through the portion to reveal another name Harry knew well. "Unfortunately this contract also cannot be undone."
Harry sighed, three wives all set to go in one day. "I see, you said that there were others?"
Ragnarok nodded simply. "Your parents had seven others for yourself, however the other four have either produced male heirs since the contract thus nullifying it, or the contracts have otherwise been nullified due to other means. One sadly did not survive past the age of three."
Harry frowned, he was surprised to find he was saddened at the death of someone who he had never met. "Who was she?" He asked, curious to know the name of his former betrothed.
"Miss Alexandrine Elouise Filipe Delacore, she was born around the same time as yourself." Ragnarok answered, smiling sadly as he seemed lost in memory. "She was such a sweet child, her Father was once the Ambassador for France for England."
"I remember them, I remember her passing." Professor McGonagall said with a sniff. "Such a sad event, and we were so sure that the Ministry had finally found a cure for Dragon Pox."
Ragnarok snorted. "Yes, well." He shrugged as he waved his hand and several other parchments arose. "These are marriage contracts for your grand children, two of which are breakable should you wish to pursue the matter, however I can assure the families will fight back."
Harry sighed, "Who are they with?"
Ragnarok waved his hand and the scrolls landed neatly on his desk. "These seals are of the Houses Malfoy, Delacour, Abbot, and Lupin." He said, as the respective scrolls rose up to reveal their crests before settling again. "The last three are for House Longbottom, House Lovegood and House Weasley."
Harry looked up at the mention of both Malfoy and Weasley. "My grandchildren are to marry a Malofy?" he asked in surprise. "And a Weasley?"
Ragnarok frowned. "Well, this can be rearranged." He said as he continued to read into the contract. "If there is a female child of House Weasley during Harry's lifetime, Harry may choose to Marry that female thus fulfilling this contract."
Hermione burst into a bright smile suddenly as she shrieked aloud. "Harry, you must marry Ginny." She said as she looked him directly in the eyes, showing her sincerity.
Harry was surprised as she allowed some of her memories of private conversations she and Ginny had over the last year to replay for him. He was surprised to learn that Ginny was so in love with him, or at least the idea of being in love with him. He was torn at the idea though, she was Ron's sister.
"Ron can get over it." Hermione said, breaking the silence of their mental exchange. "Please Harry, I know you barely know Ginny, but she would be thrilled to marry you even if she was never to be a great Lady of a House."
Harry smiled softly, he knew that she was right. "Ragnarok, please make the arrangements with Lord Weasley." He said as he turned back to the other contract. "Why a Malfoy?"
"Black tradition states that at least one generation in ever four must intermarry into a family that it has already married with." Ragnarok said with a frown. "Due to this tradition and many like it, the Ministry has enabled that these traditions be enforced by law to carry on old lineages. Thus, your generation is unable to intermingle due to Narcissa and Lucius being so interrelated so therefor, your son who becomes Lord Black will marry their grandchildren to the grandchildren of Draco Malfoy."
Harry was stunned, traditions could become laws, especially traditions that did nothing but promote blood purity. "That is revolting." he said as he felt his stomach churn.
"Now you understand why anyone not of pure wizarding blood is frowned upon, Muggleborns have it the worse, well at least they are still considered citizens." Hermione said as she turned to look at Ragnarok. "Lord Ragnarok here is only sanctioned his status due to the bank and it's power over all financial matters and laws."
Ragnarok nodded. "Yes Lady Potter." He said with a frown. "A power that we fight harder and harder to keep each year that passes because so many feel that the power we hold should only be held by a wizard, and really only a wizard with pure blood."
Harry shivered in his disgust. "I promise you Lord Ragnarok, I will never show any of your people disrespect or harm without just reason, not including any that would be strictly enforced due to blood status." He proclaimed as he gave the goblin a solemn look. "I believe that all are equal, no matter their status, no matter their race."
The goblin smiled, a proud look appearing on his face. "You are a Potter." he said softly. "You really are your father's and mother's son."
"I will write to the Heads of the Houses of my betrothed when I return to Hogwarts." Harry said as he returned back to the matter at hand. "I will also write to Mr. Weasley regarding this decision as well Lord Ragnarok."
The goblin nodded as he made a few notes to ensure to begin the proceedings to finalize the contract so that Harry could ensure his marriage to Ginny was binding legally. He was somewhat surprised that nearly half the girls in his year and at least one below were now to be married to him. He knew that most of the other boys were definitely going to be jealous of this turnout.
"Now Lord Potter, the last piece of business I have to discuss with you today regards your own will." he said as he turned to Harry with a roll of parchment already filled out. "It is required that you have a will on file within the next moon cycle, otherwise should you die without one your tittles will revert to your immediate blood related next of Kin within the Magical world, should none exist then the titles will go to the highest bidders."
Harry nodded as he took the scroll and handed it to Hermione as one was also produced for her. "Your will may change many times throughout your life, but this precautionary Will is to be set in place until your fist child is born, at which point you will be required to make adjustments."
"Thank you Sir." They answered together as Hermione tucked the scrolls in her bag "We will make sure to get them done over the next few days so that we can return them to you."
Ragnarok thanked them and then they left his office to explore his vaults. Harry was amazed to find that there were many books and various artworks in all of them, as well as many sets of furniture and various suits of armor and weaponry. The vast amounts of wealth on display in all of the vaults was astonishing, though the most valuable thing to Harry was his parents journals.
Tucked away in a trunk in the smaller vaults that his Parents had used as their main vaults he had found their old Hogwarts trunks which had contained their journals among other personal possessions. He had immediately asked Ragnarok to have them transported to his Quarters at Hogwarts with Professor McGonagall's permission.
As they were turning to leave to return to the Alley above, Hermione found a trunk full of books and scrolls on various subjects including Soul Bonds. They were surprised when Ragnarok showed them that the case was able to be expanded or shrunk at will, but due to secrecy and expansion charms that had been placed upon it it could contain nearly an infinite amount of objects and was undetectable.
"It had a twin." He explained as Hermione tucked the now shrunken trunk into her bag. "But it was destroyed in Godric's Hollow the night you defeated the Dark Lord."
Harry nodded in understanding, the thought that anything had survived the destruction that had been described to him as the Goblin had discussed his many properties with him on the way down to the vault was impossible. He had been surprised to hear that his family held a large estate in York and even more so when he learned that it was protected by a Fidelius Charm.
Hermione had quickly explained what the charm was and then he had surprised everyone by naming Professor McGonagall the current Secret Keeper on the spot. She had smiled with pride and graciously accepted, declaring that she would protect their secrets with her life if she must. Harry had been moved by her loyalty and gently hugged her in thanks.
Most of the other private Potter family residences also had various levels of protection but only three had been provided the Fidelius Charm. Potter Manor in York had been granted the Charm centuries ago, each time a new Lord Potter was chosen he chose a new Secret Keeper, if that person then died he chose a new one and so on until he passed and a new Lord was chosen again. The other two had been a small castle in Scotland near Loch Ness and the cottage in Godric's Hollow where his parents had been killed. He had also made Professor McGonagall the Secret Keeper for the castle as well, the cottage had lost the protection of the spell that night.
They returned to the surface and were soon back out into Diagon Alley where they found themselves looking about with interest. Harry knew that Hermione wanted to go to Flourish and Blots and thus asked if they could perhaps do a bit of shopping and have lunch before going back to Hogwarts.
"I don't see why not, we have the entire day to do as you wish or need." Professor McGongall said as she stuffed the official copies of His parents Wills into her bag to deliver to Amelia Bones that evening when she went to have dinner with her. "I know you have dinner with the Head Master in his Study this evening, I wonder if you also intend to speak with any of your fiancés today?"
"I believe I will hold off until after I write to their fathers, I am not sure if any of them are aware of the contracts." he said as he made another mental note to remember to write those letters that evening.
"Well then, I have a few things I need to pick up as well, so why don't we all split up and have a bit of fun." She suggested as she turned and strode down the steps of the bank and into the busy street.
Harry and Hermione along with her parents made their way up to the nearby teller window as Harry realized that he had no money with him. The teller greeted them as they arrived and took Harry's information to bring up his accounts.
"Lord Potter, you are aware that you are able to establish a card to enable transactions to be charged to your account are you not?" The teller asked as the account books he needed were summed forth.
"No, I was not." Harry stated as he raised a brow. "Would I be able to set this up here at the window with you?" he asked, hoping that he would not have to return back to the bank.
The teller goblin nodded with a smile. "Of course, how many cards will you be needing today?" he asked as he pulled a small stack towards him. "I see that there are a number of names being added to the accounts today."
Harry nodded, "Presently I would only like to acquire a card for myself and Lady Hermione Jean Potter." He said as the teller began to take down the information. "Would I also be able to add people here at the window?"
"Of course Lord Potter." The goblin said as he set the cards down and pulled up the paperwork needed to add people to the account. "How many are you adding?"
"Just two." He said as he motioned to Hermione's Parents. "Yvonne and Peter Granger." He continued with a bright smile.
The goblin took down the necessary information and quickly processed the paperwork, they were surprised when the goblin accepted her parent's Muggle Identification as proof of identity.
"The cards that we provide you will also work in the Muggle world, at any ATM or any store that accepts debit or credit cards." The Goblin said as he handed the cards over to Harry once they had been activated. "You will find that you have no max limits on any of the cards due to the vast amounts stored within your vaults. You quite literally could supply the entire Magical World with Firebolts Lord Potter and still have several hundred thousand pounds of gold to your name with all that was spent soon replenished."
Harry was staggered by the comment as the goblin shrugged. "Goblins are good at Math." the teller said as he smiled. "I did the sums in my head as we spoke, just looking over the figures I know you were one of the largest accounts that we have."
Harry nodded as he handed the cards, each labeled with the correct name to its recipient. He smiled again as his In Laws accepted their cards with genuine surprise. They had tried to refuse but he had remained firm, stating that he wanted them to be provided for if they ever needed it, even if they didn't need it.
"I will never need all of the money that I have." He said as he gave them a gentle hug. "I will never know what it would be like to be able to give my parents anything, please allow me to do this for you."
They accepted with bright, gentle smiles and hugged him again as they all began to stroll down the Alley with several ideas on what to go look at. Harry won the debate as Quality Quidditch Supplies was closest to the bank and he wanted to go look at some things for his Nimbus 2000. He was again captivated immediately by the Firebolt, the new broom that had released that summer which proclaimed to be the fastest ever made to date.
As they perused the rest of the stock in the shop, Harry kept returning to the Firebolt with ever growing desire. He knew that his Nimbus was perfect and had always served him well, but the firebolt was something of legend it seemed.
"How about this, buy yourself one and buy one for the entire Gryffindor Team as gifts, also one for Ginny and each of your other wives including me." Hermione suggested as an idea. "Then we can all practice flying together and become unstoppable or easily learn to evade should we ever need to use combat while in the air."
"That's brilliant!" He stated as he agreed to her idea. Giving the entire Gryffindor team their own Firebolt would be amazing alongside allow his wives to fly with him. "I'll do one even better." He said as he turned to address the store clerk.
"How can I help you Sir?" The Clerk asked as she turned to see who was seeking her attention. "Good gracious, you're Harry Potter!"
Harry smiled, he hated when people recognized him. "Yes, I am Harry Potter." He said indulgently as the woman finally got over her shock. "I would like to place an order for Thirty-one Firebolts please."
The Clerk blinked at him as if she had never heard the word before. "How many did you say?" She asked with a gentle frown.
"Thirty-one Ma'am." he said again, nodding his emphasis that he was sincere. "Seven are to be ordered for the Gryffindor Quidditch Team at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The other twenty-four are to be sent to specific people as gifts and myself included."
She quickly began to take down the order as he waited for her to take the names. "Who shall the ones to be sent to go to?" She asked as she filed away the form regarding to the donation to Hogwarts and the Gryffindor Team specifically. "I will need to have at least names."
Harry nodded with a smile. "Of course. Firstly Hermione Jean Granger, Ginny Weasley, Daphne Greengrass, Susan Bones, Padma Patil, Parvati Patil and Harry Potter." He said getting through the part of the list that pertained to him and his wives. "Then I would also like them sent to Minerva McGonagall, Fred and George Weasley, Ron Weasley, Bill Weasley, Charlie Weasley, Molly Weasley, Arthur Weasley, Percy Weasley, Oliver Wood, Alicia Spinnet, Angelina Johnson, Katie Bell, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Granger and Yvonne Granger."
Her parents were surprised that he had bought them brooms until he explained that if they were not able to ride them, then they could store them for him and Hermione or trusted friends who could. Besides if they could ride the brooms then they would have the ability to keep up with Harry and Hermione or flee from danger if necessary.
After also ensuring that each broomstick was provided broomstick servicing kits and any other necessary equipment, he and the others proceeded on down to the other stores that they wanted to visit. It was not long before they were soon engrossed in their shopping. Despite the fact that most things were for magical people there were a few places that also catered to those of the Muggle world who sometimes came to shop in the Alley.
After a couple of hours shopping they finally returned to the Leakey Cauldron where they reunited with Professor McGonagall. She was glad to see that they were all still together and they settled down for a late lunch in a private parlor. Tom was glad that they had stopped in again and was eager to serve them himself, leaving his assistant to run the bar.
"Well Harry, I hope you are ok with everything that you have learned today." Professor McGonagall said as she took a sip of the iced pumpkin juice she had ordered.
"I am definitely surprised." he said with a sigh. "I did not expect so many things to change."
She smiled softly. "I understand, and as a small token of friendship I got you and Hermione these." She said as she produced two wand holsters made of fine leather.
"Oh, Professor you did not have to do that." They said as she gently passed the holders to each of them, displaying their names engraved on them as she did so.
"Oh Posh!" She said as she bated away their protests with a shrug. "You to are my most trusted students and I highly regard you both, consider this a late wedding present from me."
Harry and Hermione accepted the gifts and her praise with grateful smiles as they returned to their drinks. He was just thinking again about the girls he was going to marry when their lunch arrived.
"Don't be surprised if the fathers of the girls you are betrothed to don't ask that they be allowed to move into your Quarters Harry." McGonagall said as she tucked into her steak and kidney pie. "It's quite common for them to do so to prevent the possibility of scandal due to any remote whisper of relationships outside of the betrothed."
Harry nodded, he figured that the answer would be something along those lines after her initial remark. "I would not have thought of that."
She smiled. "Leave it to purebloods, they will think of many things that you will never foresee coming."
The group laughed and their conversation soon turned to idle banter. The next hour was spent enjoying the food and each others company. At last as they were preparing to say their goodbyes, Harry announced to the table about the gifts of the Firebolts that would soon be coming to them and the donation to the school.
"Thank you Harry!" Professor McGonagall cried with joy as she pulled him into a tight hug. "Now we will win that bloody cup I know it!"
Harry smiled as he gently reminded her that it would be about two months before the broomsticks arrived. He was going to be allowing the other members of the team to use his Nimbus to practice to give them a chance to get used to the faster speed and prepare for the Firebolts.
"I will announce the gift before Dinner this evening to the Common Room." She said as she took another sip of her tea to wet her mouth.
"There is more Professor." He said with a gentle smile. "Each of the current members of the team are getting their own personal Firebolt to as well. Please do not let them know as I want it to be a surprise when they are delivered."
She smiled gently as he told her who else would be receiving a Firebolt again asking her not to mention them. She assured him that everyone who received one would be grateful and put it to good use and she was honored to be among those receiving them.
After the news of the gifts to come Harry, Hermione and Professor McGonagall bade farewell to her parents and took the floo back to her office at Hogwarts. They exited her office a few minutes later on their way to their Quarters to refresh before they would go see Sirius prior to attending dinner with Dumbledore.
