AN: Hello everyone, sorry it's been a long time since the last update, a lot of things have been going on since I last had a chance to update the story, but I am hoping that things are finally going to start calming down and get back to better greener pastures. Well, lets get back to the show shall we.
Arthur walked quietly beside Molly as they had made the decision to come up today after lunch to speak with Ginny in private and let her know before the dinner that Amelia was planning for Thursday evening. The School loomed ahead of them up the drive as they walked, and he could feel his personal fears and hopes swelling up inside him again as he once more reviewed everything that had led to their being here now.
"Arthur, keep up." Molly called as she turned back to see him dawdling behind her. "We only have a couple of hours before you have to be back at the Ministry."
He sighed and nodded. "Yes, sorry I was just..."
She smiled and crossed back to him, gently reaching out to caress his cheek with her hand. "I know Arthur, I worry too." She said gently, her eyes twinkling with her own tears of joy mixed with many other emotions. "But she will be alright, he will be wonderful to her."
He nodded, he had no true doubts on this matter, the Boy's would ensure that Harry didn't disgrace or insult their sister. "I know."
They resumed their trek up the drive until they reached the Entrance where McGonagall stood waiting for them. She greeted them as they stopped before her and she smiled though he could see the strain everything was taking on her.
"I have already pulled her aside into my office." Minerva said as she turned and began to lead them inside. "She doesn't know why I asked her in, just that you were coming to speak with her."
"Thank you Minerva." Molly said as they followed, her pace altering as she increased and decreased her stride in her excitement as they walked. "We know this will have caused quite the stir around the castle, especially with all of those that Harry is going to be-"
"I think it would be best if we wait until we get into my office before we speak further on the matter." McGonagall said politely. "Lord Potter has requested as much privacy within his personal life and matters as possible and it tends to already be difficult enough with his fame."
Molly nodded and Arthur sighed, he felt again the worries of what this would do to Ginny. "I can understand that." He said with a nod.
They arrived a few moments later and she ushered them in where they found Ginny seated on the sofa waiting for them. She jumped up and ran over to greet them, smiling as she watched them.
"Hello sweetheart." Molly said as the three of them moved together back over to the sofa.
"What's going on?" Ginny asked as she settled between her parents.
He inwardly sighed, it was not at all in his daughter's nature to be patient and he knew that their visit was sure to spark some anxiety. He looked to Molly before turning his attention back to Ginny.
"Well, we came to talk to you about something important." He said, trying to determine how best to inform her.
Molly sighed and shook her head at his tentative attitude. "Sweetheart, we have some news that we believe you are going to be very excited about." She began, taking the conversation in stride.
"You're beginning to worry me." Ginny said as she looked between the two of them and he could sense that she felt the tension in what she was going to learn.
"It's nothing bad." Molly assured her, gently squeezing her hand. "We recently received a letter from someone you know regarding something in our family history."
Ginny raised an eyebrow and he could see that she was trying to figure out what on earth they were referring to. "Are you being cryptic for your own bemusement?" She asked, and he could tell that she was lost.
Molly smiled. "How much do you remember about our history?"
Ginny shrugged. "Only what you and Daddy have told me." She said frowning.
"Well, this is a bit beyond what we have told you though still in line with so much of what you know." He said with a sigh. "Many years ago your great uncle Septimus married a woman named Cedrella Black."
Ginny nodded. "Yes, I remember the story you told us." she said with a shrug. "From what I remember you said that the marriage was surprisingly long and happy for both of them."
Arthur nodded. "Yes, it was and they were very well suited to each other." He said with a gentle smile. "When a member of the Black family marries into another family it has long been tradition within the Black family that another member of that family must marry into a family that has also married a member of the Black family."
Ginny nodded, "Yes, I remember you mentioned this had actually been made into a Law in our world at some point."
He nodded, "Some families, like ours, were able to at least make arrangements that gave plenty of generations between the demanded union." He continued with a frown. "Our family is set to marry into another family within either your generation, your children's or your grandchildren's."
Ginny froze and he could sense her fear. "Who are you marrying me off to?" She demanded and he could see the anxiety written on her face and in her eyes.
"We are not forcing you into anything." Molly said gently, "But I know you will be very, very happy when we finish telling you."
"Around the same time that uncle Septimus married Cedrella, another man married into the Black family." Arthur continued, trying to remember all of the details. "Charlus Potter married Dorea Black, Charlus was a cousin to Fleamont and as such required that a Weasley eventually marry into the Potter family."
He watched his daughter as she took in the information though he could tell that she was still moderately confused. He sighed and smiled gently. "Over the last few days quite a lot has happened, but the new Lord Potter has extended an offer to marry you so that the obligation is fulfilled and any remaining Weasley's and Potter's will no longer have to worry about the marriage alliance."
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Ginny stared at her parents, she had read the Prophet article yesterday proclaiming that Harry was the new Lord Potter. She blinked as she continued to internalize the information that she had just received, that he had offered to marry her. She couldn't believe it, how could the one thing that she had so desperately wanted be within her grasp.
"Sweetie?" she heard her mother call to her.
She turned mechanically to stare at her mother, still unable to speak as several emotions ran through her that she was unsure how to comprehend. Finally after several long moments she tried to speak and failed before bursting into tears as her mother pulled her into her arms, cooing softly at her.
"It's alright." Her mother said gently, shushing her as she tried to calm her.
"If you don't want this we can tell him-"
"NO!" She screeched as she turned to her father, nearly knocking her mother over as she felt fear sear into her at his words. "This is all I have ever wanted." she said quietly as her tears continued to slide down her cheeks.
She saw a sad smile on her Father's face that seemed to echo in his eyes, though she thought she could see that there was happiness there as well. He nodded and she gently reached out to rest her hand on his forearm.
"There will be others." Her mother said gently, "Due to some other families having to marry into his and due to the Blacks as well as betrothal contracts set in place by Lily and James he must marry some other girls as well."
She nodded though she didn't care, all she had ever wanted was to be with him and to be loved by him. "I don't care if he has to marry a thousand girls, I only want him." She said softly.
"You should know." Professor McGonagall stepped in. "Lord Potter has already married one of his wives to be, though she was never one that was planned."
Ginny turned to her Head of House. "May I ask who?" She asked with interest, if she was going to be in this wild ride then she wanted to know everyone who was going to be involved.
"Hermione Granger, or well now Lady Potter" Minerva said, she sensed her mother tense at this revelation.
"Really?" her Mother asked and she could hear a strange undertone in her voice.
"Yes; normally I would not break trust and tell you this, but as your daughter is to be one of his wives it is best that she know this now." A few days ago Lord Potter and Lady Hermione formed a Soul Bond, as such they are now joined together forever as one though they are still themselves."
Ginny didn't know what this meant but by the reactions of her Parents she knew that it must be something very important. She wanted to know more but decided that she would not press, if Harry and Hermione wanted her to know then they would inform her themselves.
"S-so young?" Arthur asked and McGonagall nodded.
"Yes, it was rather unorthodox." She said as she summoned some tea and biscuits. "I was one of the people summoned and witnessed Professor Flitwick perform the Bonding Ritual."
Her father nodded though again she was lost.
"I see, well I can't say that I am surprised." He said with a gentle smile. "From what we have come to understand, the two of them have been friends with Ron for three years now and they are nearly inseparable."
McGonagall smirked. "That's definitely the word I would use, though incorrigible would be another at times." She said with a gentle laugh.
Arthur sighed. "Well, this will definitely be an interesting turn of events."
McGonagall nodded. "I must ask, though you do not have to answer at this time, will you be moving Ginny into his private quarters at this time?"
She felt her father freeze at the question, she was perplexed how did Harry have his own quarters. It was news all around the Gryffindor common room that he and Hermione had not been seen there as much lately, but this now explained why.
"We had not fully determined that before we arrived." Arthur said with a sigh. "From what I understand Miss Greengrass will be moving in quite soon. As for his other Betrotheds I am not sure, when I spoke with Amelia she informed me of the situation with Susan."
McGonagall nodded. "Yes, that is going to come as quite the shock to Lord Potter I fear. Having to marry by next July is going to put quite a bit of pressure on both of them."
Ginny frowned. "Do I get a choice in the matter?" she asked, she wondered why her parents were debating this.
Arthur and Molly turned to her, she was surprised by the two completely different looks that she received. Her Father seemed perplexed and shaken, while her mother was listening intently and she could see the support written on her face.
"Do you want to be rushed into his quarters?" her Father asked, she could sense his uneasiness.
"Daddy, if he and I are going to be married I will eventually have to live with him." She said pointedly, showing that she understood his concerns. "Besides, I highly doubt that if I am not ready he will force himself on me."
Her Mother nodded earnestly. "Yes Arthur, we have both spent time with Harry and we both know that with his other Betrotheds there he will not be fully alone with her unless the two of them wish it."
Her Father sighed and she could sense his defeat. "Fine, if you wish it then I will sign the paperwork, but I ask that you wait until the end of the week." He said and she threw herself into him, pulling him into a tight hug. "Madame Bones is arranging a dinner with Harry and all of his Betrotheds and their families this Thursday, well tomorrow night now. She feels that this will be a good way for everyone to meet each other and to settle into a close-knit family.
Ginny nodded, she could live with waiting until this weekend to get to spend more time with Harry. "That will be fun." She said excitedly.
"We should warn you sweetheart." Her Mother said with a small sigh. "You won't have a Title, you will just be Mrs. Potter."
Ginny threw up her hands and stated pointedly. "I don't care about that, all I care about is Harry."
Titles, her Parents though that she would be worried about having a Title. This was going far beyond what she had expected, but far more than she ever could have dreamed. She was going to marry Harry Potter, the boy she had dreamed about and fantasized over for nearly as long as she could remember. She was unsure if she wanted to scream, cry, climb a mountain and shout it to the world.
"Thank you." She said sincerely as she looked at both of her parents, turning from one to the other as she stared directly into their eyes. "This really is all I have ever wanted, all I have dreamed about for as long as I can remember."
"We know." Her Mother said softly. "Now, we have to tell your bother's."
Ginny frowned. That was going to go over like a ton of bricks, though she knew that they all liked Harry.
"I will leave that to you." She said, smiling wryly as her Mother laughed. "But warn them that if they do anything to him I will hex them myself."
Her Father laughed. "Now, you know they only want what is best for you." He said though she could tell that he would indeed have a word with them about not hurting Harry.
