RKingQway: I hear you and I hope you will find this chapter more Natsu focused. I will try my best to shy away from just copy pasting the original story.
Amanny: Thank you for the review and I'm glad you like the story. I haven't exactly mapped out the ToH and BFFT acrs just yet but I will be sure to add some Natsu spice to them.
Francesco Capogna: Here you go my friend.
Alexliatrope: Thank you, here you go with the next chapter.
Ssj shadow: Thank you for the review, I have taken it into consideration but you will have to wait and see how i implemented the idea.
-Magic Council Headquarters-
An imposing palace composed of pure white stone and light blue bricks, with large, elongated windows. There were arches stretched around the palace-like structure, some with glass while others were hollow. The Council Headquarters was surrounded by a large fence that had very intricate swirls and twirls of wire giving the fence a stylish look. The main entrance was two large doors topped with a pyramid-style roof.
As Erza was escorted through the massive marble walls to where the Magic Council meets for her questioning she came across one of the councilmen. He was a young man with short blue hair, dark eyes with a red tattoo above and under his right eye. He was dressed in an elegant yet simple robe, consisting of a long white frock-coat with black stripes across the edges and on the upper part of the arms, a decorated standing collar, large straps connected to decorated buckles closing the inducement on the front with a dark shirt and matching pants and shoes.
The man was leaning on one of the pillars with his eyes closed. Once Erza came close the man looked up and smirked at her.
"Siegrain," Erza gasped as she noticed the blue-haired man. The guards that had escorted Erza bowed down to the Council Member as he approached.
"It's been a while Erza, please relax. I am only here in spirit, most of the Council members here are only sending thought projections. The old fools back there want to know every detail you have on 'Death Walker'. They are afraid that the faith of the country in them will be lost if they don't do something about the man who had singlehandedly take down many dark guilds and corrupt officials in their own organisation. I for one appreciates that someone is doing this work," Siegrain said as he moved to stand next to Erza.
"But I don't know where he is or what his goal is," Erza said.
"I am not here to talk about that right now though, I am here to talk to you about an entirely different matter. Don't let a word slip about you know what, for both of our sakes," Siegrain said as he came closer to Erza and whispered the last part.
"I must join my colleagues, I will see you shortly," Siegrain said before disappearing.
"You know some very important people," one of Erza's escorts said after seeing the exchange between the two.
"He is evil," Erza said with a straight face before continuing on to the meeting hall. The shadows behind the escort party flickered for a moment before settling down once again.
As Erza walked into the dark meeting hall the lights came on revealing the faces of the council members. They were all sitting behind a high raising podium and there was a chair provided for Erza in front of them. The guards that had escorted her in, motioned to the chair and she took her seat.
"Erza Scarlet is it true that you encountered the independent mage known as 'Death Walker'?" a tall, grey-haired elderly man with a considerably long beard, as well as a moustache asked Erza. The man had pointy ears and a habit of keeping only one of his dark-coloured eyes open at a time. He wore multiple layers of robes and on top of his head he wears a small bat-shaped ornament.
"That is true, Council Member Org," Erza replied. One of the frog-human hybrids that are the Magic Council's secretaries and general workers started writing the conversation on a piece of paper for the records.
"Would you tell us what you were doing before you encountered 'Death Walker'?" a short old man with thick light-brown eyebrows and a small toothbrush moustache that reaches halfway to his mouth asked next. He wore a long sleeve shirt with black vertical stripes and a black three-spiked hat.
"Councillor Yajima, I was just finished dealing with the dark mages of the Eisenwald Guild and decided to warn the crowd of civilians outside the station, that Eisenwald had taken over before us getting there, once the crowd was evacuated I turned around and saw that a wind barrier has been erected up around the station. Erigor the 'Shinigami' surprised me and launched a deadly attack. I used a large amount of my magic to get my team there, in a Magic Four-Wheeler since there was no train available at the time. That in conjunction with the battle against the Eisenwald Guild left me with very little magic. I closed my eyes and prepared to accept my fate when someone hit me with their body shoving myself and them into the barrier and out of the way of the attack. That person was 'Death Walker'," Erza recounted the events at the Oshibana train station.
"Was this mission you were on an official request form a client or the Magic Council, Miss Scarlet?" a short, old man with oddly flat brown hair which tapers to a point in three places, on both sides of his face and the centre of his forehead asked. He also has tufts of hair on either side of his head that resembles ears and what appears to be a light-yellow tail growing out of his backside. His face also had a bristle-edged moustache and small dark-coloured eyes with thin eyebrows. He wore a light coloured robe that bore stripe-like markings on both sleeves down his sides and on his back, dark-coloured pants held up with a cord tied into a bow and light-coloured slippers.
"Councilman Michello, I don't see how this is relevant to 'Death Walker'," Erza said in a displeased tone, knowing that Michello had it out for Fairy Tail.
"I agree with Miss Scarlet on this one Michello, the question you asked has nothing to do with 'Death Walker' so I suggest it be overruled and not documented," a tall elderly woman with a long nose, sandy blond hair which she ties up into a large ponytail that seems to fan out into a series of spiky tear-dropped shaped tufts of hair said turning to Org who was leading this meeting. She wore a cloak and a purple turtleneck with a long dress underneath.
"I agree with Belno on this one. Michello please keep your personal grievances with Fairy Tail out of this meeting," Org said with authority which caused Michello to just nod in submission.
"Continuing on, what can you tell us about the encounter you had with 'Death Walker'?" Belno asked after the situation with Michello was dealt with.
"Our encounter was short and it didn't really shine any light on who he is. He never revealed his name to me only his moniker. The only thing I can say from that encounter in combination with the encounter we had at Clover Town is that his magic has some connection with death, the aura he emitted was tick with it," Erza replied feeling a chill run down her spine as she recalled the aura.
"The Guild Masters we questioned also provided us with that thank you. Did you happen to see any of his facial features, the only description we have of him is his dark coloured clothing?" Org asked.
"Yes, he revelled …" Erza was cut off by a gasp coming from one of the Council Members. The Council Member is a pale-skinned woman with long, dark purple hair and brown eyebrows. She has a rather voluptuous figure and wore a long revealing white kimono with a golden sash around her middle. The reason for her gasp was a hand was coming out of the shadows and resting on her shoulder.
"Ultear what is the reason for the…" Org asked as he turned to her before letting his words dwindle out in shock as he saw the hand.
"Who's there? How did you get in here unauthorised?" Siegrain raised his voice.
"If you want to talk about me wouldn't it be more helpful to ask me directly?" a grey cloaked man emerged from the shadows.
"Who are you?" Ultear asked as she tried to escape the man's grip but was surprised at how strong the grip was.
"I am the one you are questioning 'Titania' about," the man replied while looking down at Ultear. She tried to get a glimpse of his face but it seemed as though the shadows were purposely hiding his face.
"' Death Walker'?" Ultear asked with a trace amount of fear in her voice.
"Smart and beautiful," Natsu replied. He jumped down from the podium where the Council Members were sitting and made his way over to Erza. The room was completely silent mostly due to the shock of its occupants because one of the most elusive mages had just appeared in the middle of their meeting hall. The sounds of Natsu's footsteps were the only sound being made until he stood right in front of Erza.
"I would appreciate it if you do not share my appearance with potential corrupt officials," Natsu said. This snapped most the Council Members out of their shock and they all started raising their voices in denial of his accusations. The only members who did not raise their voices were Siegrain and Ultear, the latter due to still being in shock.
"What are you doing here?" Erza asked finally finding her voice.
"I heard a little bird saying that the Magic Council is going to investigate me and that they will be questioning you 'Titania'," Natsu replied in a monotone voice.
"That still doesn't explain what you are doing here," Erza stated. Both of them were ignoring the commotion coming from the Magic Council Members.
"I don't want the Magic Council to know how I look. And since I revealed my face to you and they were questioning you about me it was only logical that my appearance would come up in the conversation," Natsu explained.
"But why did you reveal your face to me then if you are so secretive?" Erza asked now thoroughly confused.
"That was because the relationship between Fairy Tail and the Magic Council is no secret and since the two of you don't particularly like one another I assumed that the information wouldn't get out. Another reason is that even though you had a few close calls with death in your past, you have never turned to kill so that partially aligns with my own moral code. Basically, I decided that there was no harm in it. Lucky for me I came here to stop this interaction before I was proven wrong," Natsu explained in detail.
"' Death Walker' mind if I ask you why you don't want to reveal your appearance to us?" Org asked finally being able to make himself heard over the other members without coming off as rude.
"I don't want to answer that question Org, or at least not to a thought projection and the only real person here is Council Woman Milkovich," Natsu replied dismissively.
"Impressive, not many can distinguish high level thought projections from the real deal without physical contact. How did you know that?" Org asked in an impressed tone hoping to find some information on the elusive 'Death Walker'.
"Where would the fun be in me just telling you?" Natsu asked with amusement in his voice.
The noise of the room once again started to raise with the Council Members beginning to either fire off any question that might reveal information about 'Death Walker' and his abilities or attempting to berate him for his breaking and entering of the Magic Council Headquarters.
"I think I would like some privacy with the two ladies here," Natsu said in a soft tone that was just barely heard by Erza. "Death God's Eternal Cancellation" Natsu whispered causing a purple and black mist to roll of Natsu. This mist quickly filled the room and silence shortly followed as the voices of the Magic Council Members faded away.
"What did you do to the Council Members?" Erza asked in shock once the mist dissipated leaving only herself, Natsu and Ultear in the room.
"Where are my colleagues and why were we not affected by that spell?" Ultear asked at the same time as Erza.
"Calm down, nothing happened to those old farts. All I did was cancel out the spells that had an effect in this room, meaning that their thought projections were cancelled. They were really giving me a headache," Natsu said and rubbed his forehead that was still shrouded in shadows.
"That is quite the powerful technique…" Erza muttered to herself under her breath.
"It doesn't have many combat applications since it doesn't affect direct attacks and requires the spell to have been cast for a few minutes already before it can have an effect but for moments like these its perfect," Natsu explained surprising Erza that he heard her statement.
"This is quite interesting, you had aversions to telling the rest of the Magic Council anything about yourself yet now that is it just the three of us you seem more open," Ultear spoke up as she moved down to where Natsu and Erza were.
"I have my reasons and if you want to know them you will have to do something for me," Natsu turned to Ultear as he spoke. 'This is quite interesting, her life span container has been touched by death but something seems to be shielding her,' Natsu thought to himself as he looked at Ultear.
"And what would that be?" Ultear said in a slurry tone thinking that as a beautiful young woman she is what the man would want. She pushed out her chest and made a cute facial expression. This is a tactic she would usually use if she wanted to obtain some information.
"Whatever you are thinking about, stop. I am not in the mood for games with this headache," Natsu sighed and again rubbed his forehead. Ultear immediately regained her composure since she knew he was serious and she was sure that if she would pressure him for information, she would be lucky if he just left the room.
"What I want from you is insurance that the Magic Council will not question 'Titania' here about my appearance and that she will be returned as soon as possible. I am not an unreasonable man but if you don't accept my proposal there will be consequences," Natsu said in a tone that didn't leave room for argument.
"I don't really have a choice, do I? Erza do you need an escort out of here or are you fine by yourself?" Ultear whispered the first part before turning to Erza and asking her the last part.
"I know how to get out myself, thank you. But who said I wanted to leave? Maybe I have some questions of my own for you 'Death Walker'," Erza replied to Ultear before turning to Natsu.
"I believe you would want to get to your guild at the moment, considering the interesting bit of information I overheard on the way here," Natsu said turning to Erza.
"What is it you know about my guild?" Erza asked in a threatening tone and summoning a sword in her hands.
"Do you always resort to violence every time someone says something you don't like or is it just with me?" Natsu asked in a very annoyed tone.
"If you have any information regarding my guild you will tell me now," Erza demanded disregarding his previous question and bringing the sword up so that she was now in a threatening attack stance. She gave him a glare that would normally send her guildmates running.
"Lower your weapon now or I will see you as an enemy and treat you like one," Natsu growled while letting his magic seep out of him. The pressure he created was enough to crack the floor beneath him and put some strain on Ultear and Erza. Erza tried to stand tall but was finding it harder and harder as time passed.
"Please 'Death Walker' calm down," Ultear requested as she had now sunk to one knee.
"Last chance," Natsu growled as purple and grey energy began to form around his fists and a purple and grey aura surrounded him. Erza finally relented and sank to one knee shivering from the overwhelming feeling of death that Natsu emitted. Her sword vanished and Natsu stopped displaying his power.
"Apologise for acting like a spoiled brat and then I will tell you the information I have," Natsu growled as he approached the kneeling Erza. She stared up at him in defiance.
"It's either that or I beat you senseless and keep the information to myself," Natsu stated as he now stood in front of Erza.
"Forgive me for losing my temper," Erza begrudgingly apologised with her head hanging. She knew that a battle with 'Death Walker' would be a hard one since she didn't know what magic he used or exactly how powerful he was.
"That's better. Now some of your guild members are on their way to Galuna Island for an S-Class request and from my knowledge, they are not S-Class mages nor are they accompanying one," Natsu said. Erza's eyes widened at this information and she quickly spun around and made her way out of the Magic Council Headquarters while pulling out a communication lacrima.
Ultear tensed up at the mention of Galuna Island and Natsu noticed it.
"Something that you have an interest in that is on Galuna Island, Ultear Milkovich?" Natsu asked as he turned to the other occupant of the room.
"No nothing personally, just worried about non-S-Class mages going on a dangerous quest like that. It would cause the Council a few problems if something unfortunate happened to them," Ultear replied in a calm voice but Natsu could hear her heartbeat going up. 'There is something on that Island that she doesn't want me or anybody else to know about, I wonder why. This calls for further investigation,' Natsu thought to himself.
"Do you know what the request is about?" Natsu asked while studying Ultear's every movement.
"No, I am just aware of how dangerous an S-Class request can be, that is why they are limited to S-Class mages only after all. But since Erza isn't here anymore mind telling the reason you are talking so freely with me?" Ultear asked, changing the subject in an attempt to avoid any further questioning. 'Definitely, something going on there,' Natsu concluded in his thoughts.
"I believe this means you will prevent the Council from questioning the Fairy Tail mages about my appearance?" Natsu asked. He got a nod in agreement from Ultear since she was curious about this man and wondered how she might be able to use the information he is about to reveal in her favour.
"Well, it boils down to your past. I know you went through some traumatic experience and to a degree I can relate," Natsu replied simply. Ultear was visibly socked by him knowing something about her past and she started to get nervous.
"Just how much do you know?" she asked carefully taking a step back in case she would have to battle him.
"Currently I don't know much but there is something peculiar about you, the best way I can currently describe it is a warm protective ice," Natsu replied in a thoughtful tone.
"What do you mean 'warm protective ice'?" Ultear asked in complete confusion.
"I can't describe it any further without letting you in on some of my secrets, and I would rather them stay just that, secrets," Natsu replied and Ultear knew he was grinning away behind the veil of shadows.
"How about a trade then, I tell you something about my past that might help you better explain this 'warm protective ice' thing and then in return you either explain that further or tell me something about yourself?" Ultear proposed. She was hoping that the lure of knowledge and understanding on his part would convince him to accept her deal.
"Sure why not, I'll bite," Natsu replied after a moment of thought.
"Well I was born in the Northern continent, so maybe that might have some connection with the ice part," Ultear said. Now she was looking in anticipation at 'Death Walker' anxious to gain some information on this man.
"Interesting, I believe I can craft a theory around that, but I won't be explaining it to you. Now don't worry I will honour our agreement but first I want you to swear not to reveal what I am about to tell you to anyone else," Natsu said. He saw another nod from Ultear but before he revealed what he was prepared to he moved towards her and extended his hand to her.
"Take my hand and swear not to reveal this information. And don't be afraid what I am about to do shouldn't trouble you," Natsu said and waited for Ultear to take his hand. After a moment of hesitation, she took his hand into hers, she was surprised by how cold his touch was and it reminded her of something but she couldn't place what.
A purple and black energy covered their joined hands as Natsu said "Death God's Seal of Silence". Ultear immediately tried to pull away but 'Death Walkers' grip on her was too firm.
"What did you do?" Ultear asked in shock.
"This is a spell that will inform me if you reveal this information to anyone. There are no other side effects, so do not be afraid," Natsu explained in a calm tone. Ultear calmed down a bit at hearing him tell her not to be afraid. It was strange but she felt as if she could trust his every word.
"My name is Natsu Dragneel," Natsu revealed his name as he removed his hood revealing his face as well. Ultear was stunned at the sudden reveal of the identity of one of the most mysterious mages on Earthland.
"Why would you tell me your name and show me your face?" Ultear asked in utter shock.
"I will keep those reasons to myself for the moment," Natsu simply replied with a smile. Ultear blushed a little when she saw his smile on his handsome face. 'What is wrong with me?' she thought to herself as she felt her heart skip a beat. Ultear studied Natsu's face and her eyes quickly fell on the scar running through his left eye.
"A story for another time," Natsu said as he saw where her focus was. Ultear immediately looked away in shame at being caught staring at his scar. A silence fell on the room.
"This is where our little meeting ends. See you in due time, Ultear," Natsu said before sinking into the shadows. Ultear was now alone in the meeting hall. 'Natsu,' she thought and then remembered him saying her name with a smile.
-Fairy Tail Guild Hall-
"Master Makarov I don't know what ass happened but one of the S-Class quests are missing," Mirajane came running down the stairs from the second floor of the guildhall. Master Makarov spit out the tea he was sipping on once he heard this.
What who do you have any idea who took it?" Makarov asked frantically.
"No Master, since Erza is away, she couldn't have taken it and Mystogan took another request and Laxus is still upstairs," Mira said in a frantic tone. That meant that there was no chance that an S-Class mage could have taken it.
"I know who took it," came a voice from the second floor. The voice belonged to a very tall and muscular young man with blue-grey eyes and blond hair that is slicked back with numerous spikey strands pointing backwards and some falling down in a small tuft on his forehead. He has a distinctive lightning bolt-shaped scar on his right eye. He is wearing his signature 'Sound Pod' model Magic Headphones, a leopard-print orange tunic with dark-lined sleeves reaching down his elbows and maroon pants. He wore light-coloured shoes and a long dark grey coat with light grey fur lining the edges. The coat hung over his shoulders like a cape.
"Who was it Laxus?" Makarov asked his grandson who was leaning back comfortably.
"I saw a boy without a shirt or pants on sneaking up here and grabbing one of the requests of the board," Laxus replied without moving from his comfortable spot.
"Gray?" Mira yelled in shock. The guild erupted into a mixture of shocked shouts, shouts of disbelieve and rage.
"That is a serious breach of the rules, a stunt like that will get you kicked out of the guild, am I right Gramps?" Laxus asked Makarov as he opened his eyes to leer down at the short old man. Makarov stood with his arms crossed and eyes closed for a moment before the guild communication lacrima lit up.
"Yes hello, we have a situation here at the moment I'll get back to you once we have sorted things out," Makarov said into the device without looking who it was that contacted him.
"I'm sorry master but this cannot wait. Some of our mages have taken an S-Class request without the proper authorisation or an S-Class mage accompanying them," Erza's voice could be heard from the lacrima.
"How do you know this, we have only just seen the request is gone, and aren't you supposed to be in questioning with the Magic Council?" Makarov asked as soon as Erza stopped talking.
"There was an uninvited guest, but that can wait till later. The request that they took was the Galuna Island one, I am on my way to Hargeon port right now to hopefully stop them there," Erza said.
"Where did you get that information, never mind that is not important right now? I hope you can get there in time," Makarov replied.
"Understood Master, I will report back once I have apprehended the rule-breakers," Erza said. The lacrima stopped glowing signalling that the call ended.
"Ha, it doesn't seem like you will have to kick that loser out of the guild, he will probably not even make it," Laxus laughed.
"Have any of you seen Lucy?" a rather young and petite teenage girl asked. She had a slender build and stood below average height with shoulder-length blue hair that is tied up with a colourful bandana along with brown eyes. She wore a short orange dress with a white ribbon keeping it up around her neck.
"No, she hasn't come in yet Levy," Mira answered the bluenette.
"You don't think she went with Gray?" Levy asked in a frightened tone scared of what might happen to her fellow bookworm.
"They have been on a few missions together," Makarov mused.
-The shores of Galuna Island-
Natsu arrived on the shore after using his shadow magic to move along the ocean floor. 'Man am I glad I learned shadow magic otherwise I would have had to use a boat,' Natsu thought with a pleased look on his face. Just as he was about to move into the forest that covered the island he heard someone behind him yelling something about a tidal wave.
He turned around to see a massive tidal wave washing a wooden boat to shore. Natsu quickly took cover-up in a large tree. Once the wave pulled back he went to inspect the damages and see if the person who screamed was still alive.
'Looks like some of those mages 'Titania' was within Oshibana,' Natsu observed. He could see the blond, the black-haired guy and another guy with red hair. Natsu didn't pay much attention to them only looking to see if they were alive and that they would survive until they woke up. After being satisfied with their condition he returned to his own mission on the island.
Natsu sensed a strange magical power somewhere on the island so he started heading in its general direction. After a few minutes of walking, Natsu came across a very strange sight, a massive, five-meter tall rat in a maid uniform. The rat attempted to attack Natsu but one death glare from the Death Dragon God Slayer quickly changed its mind. 'Now I have seen it all,' Natsu thought as he looked at the massive rat running away with its tail between its legs.
The next hour went by without anything happening until Natsu walked out of the forest and into a clearing. There he saw a large temple-like building that had large vines and brushes covering it. The design resembled that of an Aztec temple. It was a pale grey colour but the bottom level was coloured a light beige colour. The entrance was just a standard size door with the only noticeable detail is the three dark red sickle moon emblems above the entrance and on the two pillars next to the entrance.
Natsu quietly made his way into the temple and sensed two distinct clutters of magic sources, one up and one down. Natsu decided to investigate the one above him first since he was not sure how deep the temple stretches underground. Sinking into the shadows to avoid detection he moved to the upper part of the temple.
He neared the magic source and now he could distinguish four different magical sources. He quickly made his way into what seemed to be a throne room with a large throne that was occupied with someone and three other people were kneeling around this person.
"Where is Zalty?" a man wearing a large white cape with a wide collar, golden edges and fur trimmings over the shoulders asked his subordinates. The man had a blue, high-collar tunic with golden edges underneath the coat that reached down below his knees and baggy dark pants tucked inside armoured greaves. He also had armoured kneecaps and an ornamental helmet that resembled a skull and sported a front patch covering the man's upper face, revealing his nose and mouth, a line of sharp teeth beneath it. The helmet came equipped with striped horns pointing outwards and a large crest of spiky fur falling on his back.
"Forgive us 'Cold Emperor' but we do not know where he is," a short, slim young man with extremely brushy, squared black eyebrows replied. This man had black eyes and bright blue hair that was arranged in several spikes pointing upwards. He wore a green coat reaching down to his knees with black sections in correspondence to the sleeves' outer part and on the sides' lower parts. A plain dark belt along with two vertically striped, overlapping hems placed on the front kept the garment closed. He finished his look with dark and loose pants and plain, light-coloured shoes.
"Please forgive us in the name of 'Love', like Yuka said, we do not know where he is," the overly dramatic plea came from a girl with blue eyes, pink hair, large breasts and a curvaceous body. Her hair was tied into pigtails, had a choker tied into a ribbon, a purple and pink short spaghetti dress with light pink trimmings, black leggings and high-heeled sandals.
"Just send him to me as soon as he arrived," the 'Cold Emperor' sighed dismissing his subordinates.
"Soon I will surpass you Ur, once I defeat Deliora I will stand on top of the world," the 'Cold Emperor' said out loud before letting out a chuckle in anticipation. 'The demon of destruction, this fool thinks he can defeat it? Is the magical source coming from below Deliora?' Natsu thought to himself.
Satisfied with the information he gained he made his way down to the lower levels of the temple. It was relatively easy for him to navigate the maze of tunnels since he followed the magical energy source that came from under the temple. The cavern that the energy source was coming from was a large open space and the only thing that occupied the space was a massive ice globe.
'Now this is interesting, this icy prison definitely contains the demon Deliora but there is something else,' Natsu thought as he looked at Deliora's prison. Natsu sat down and crossed his legs. He closed his eyes and started to concentrate. A purple, black and grey aura began expanding from him and soon engulfed the entire cavern.
A short man wearing a red mask with blue and yellow lines, four spikes, tow on top and one to each side, messy green hair that reached just past his neck, a dark red tunic, dark blue pants and a green coat stood nearby observing Natsu.
"Come on out Ultear," Natsu called out without adjusting himself or opening his eyes but the man just stayed put.
"Stop just sitting there, I know you are here, and if you come over here I will tell you something you will find quite interesting," Natsu said after a minute where nothing happened. The man began to glow and after the glow died down Ultear revealed herself.
"How did you know I was here, I thought my disguise was perfect?" Ultear asked as she walked to Natsu. The aura he emitted felt like death but for some reason, Ultear couldn't fathom she wasn't scared or even fazed by it, on the contrary, it felt kind of inviting.
"I'll tell you that at a later time," Natsu replied keeping his eyes closed but allowing a smirk to form on his face. Ultear was a little bit irritated that he constantly avoids her questions but decided not to act on her irritation.
"So what is it that I will find so interesting… Natsu?" Ultear asked. She felt her heartbeat a bit faster when she said his name. 'What is wrong with me?' she thought to herself.
"Why not make another trade, you tell me why you are here in disguise and I tell you what I know?" Natsu proposed.
"This is going to become a norm isn't it?" Ultear asked rhetorically. She took a moment to formulate her answer while Natsu waited patiently. 'I wonder what excuse she will come up with,' Natsu thought while he waited.
"I was worried about the mages that took the S-Class quest so I decided to make my way over here to make sure they don't get in too much trouble. As for the disguise, I know that Fairy Tail and the Magic Council aren't the best of friends so I didn't want to antagonise them if I had to intervene," Ultear finally said, happy with the tale she came up with.
"A fine tale but unfortunately not the truth, I want you to tell me the truth Ultear," Natsu said. This caught Ultear off guard, she believed her story was believable.
"What do you mean that is the honest truth," Ultear tried to convince Natsu that she was telling the truth.
"Have you honestly forgotten the spell I used on you before I revealed my identity?" Natsu asked while staring at her in disbelieve. Ultear had a look of confusion on her face for a moment before realisation dawned on her.
"I know who you work for, you are lucky I don't have any proof at the moment otherwise I won't be the only one," Natsu said which made Ultear gain a worried expression and she took a step back.
"This is something I don't often do, but Ultear I will give you one chance to turn your life around, I have my reasons for doing this but the decision is yours and yours alone. I am willing to do a great deal of things to help you out of this situation," Natsu continued. He finally opened his eyes and Ultear saw that they were glowing an eerie purple colour. Natsu slowly walked towards her and came to a stop right in front of her.
"So are you going to take the helping hand I offer or are you going to attempt to persuade me that your story is true," Natsu asked her. Ultear could only stare into the eerie purple and black depths that were Natsu's eyes. 'What do I do, if he exposes me then a whole lot more will be revealed and the thing will get a million times harder,' Ultear wracked her brain to find the answers to her question.
"Allow me to make the decision easier for you. Your mother is still alive but in some sort of stasis, I can attempt to revive her here and now," Natsu said which made Ultear's eyes widen.
"I hate her, she abandoned me and found her precious student to replace me," Ultear shouted as tears started to form in her eyes. This was the first time her mother was brought up since her childhood and the bottled up emotions were pouring out. Natsu moved closer to her and embraced her in a comforting hug. The cool feeling Natsu emitted soothed Ultear and once again she was perplexed as to why but she still buried her face into his chest.
"Your mother loved you, she never abandoned you. I do not know the details but remember when I said that I could sense a 'warm and comforting ice' in you. I now know that it was your mother who placed it there. The reason as to why she did is still unclear to me but it is protecting you from corruption. The only way I am aware of this being capable is if a person casts a spell that will likely end them but it will protect the ones they love. Your mother used a spell called 'Iced Shell' that uses the user's own body as ice to seal something for all eternity. The ice encasing the demon behind me is in all sense your mother Ultear," Natsu said as he tightened the hug he had Ultear in.
Ultear was shocked at the revelation but still a bit sceptical. She had no reason to believe that Natsu would try and deceive her but the animosity she held for her mother for so many years still casted doubt on the validity of what Natsu had told her. All she could do is let tears flow out of her eyes as she mulled over the thought of her mother actually loving her.
"It will take some time but I can bring her back," Natsu whispered into Ultear's ear in a soothing tone while he rubbed her hair with his right hand and brought her in closer with his left. Ultear greatly appreciated that someone was there to comfort her.
"I don't know what to think right now. I have always hated my mother because I believed she abandoned me and replaced me. But now you are saying I was wrong," Ultear said once her crying died down. She looked up into his eyes. They were filled with kindness.
"Why don't you ask her yourself once I am done?" Natsu softly asked. Ultear nodded her head. They broke the hug but Ultear felt as if something was missing once Natsu was no longer holding her.
"I will have to keep up my disguise so that I can keep the others out of this room," Ultear said once she regained her composure. It was when she said this that they heard the scream of people falling and the thud of them landing in one of the tunnels.
"Quick hide," Ultear whispered with urgency and transformed back into her male disguise. She dashed to one of the tunnels where she would be able to still observe what happens in the room. Natsu on the other hand just sank into the shadows and concealed himself from view.
-With Gray and Lucy in the tunnel-
'Ouch that hurt," Lucy said rubbing her behind. She had just fallen through the floor of the old temple they were investigating.
"Damnit 'flame-brain', why did you go stomping on the floor like that?" Gray angrily asked the last person of the three-man group.
A gruelling cliff hanger of epic proportions. Okay but in all seriousness, this is the end of Chapter 5. The next chapter I will introduce this new OC and Gray will come face to face with the frozen Deliora. How will events play out? Will Natsu really be able to bring Ultear's mother back? The next chapter might be able to answer these questions. I made a poll so that I can start gathering ideas for a next story, this poll is for a Fairy Tail story. The poll is at www .strawpoll .me/20829066 (remove spaces) and will be up for at least a week. If you have any crossover requests feel free to leave a review. I will be answering review questions in the chapters as they come up like I started doing in this chapter. Until then feel free to leave a review of your thoughts and see you all next time.
