The five Jaquins flew overhead to the temple ahead. They came out from over the jungle and were now souring above the ruins of the Maruvian city. Elena glanced down below and saw several trucks and people in the city square. It must be the expedition.
"Look, down there!" she said pointing down at them.
Skylar and the others glanced down to the city square.
"Looks like their already here!" Skylar said, glancing up at Elena.
Migs glanced ahead to the Temple. He then gasped.
"And it looks like their already helping themselves." he said, gesturing ahead.
Elena, Skylar, Luna and Neko looked up to the temple. They saw three of them running up the stairway. They must be heading for the temple above. Elena gasped. This could be the opportunity they needed to talked to them.
She glanced down at her brother.
"Quick, over there!" she said, pointing to the left side of the temple.
The five Jaquins flew in around the temple, unnoticed by the three members of the expedition. They came up over the very top of the stairway and landed along the left side of the temple. Elena got off her brother's back and crept up to the corner of the temple.
She peered around the corner and saw one of teens from back in the clearing, come up over the top of the stairway. Sort of breath to say the least.
Fishlegs leaned over, struggling to catch his breath. He sighed in relief, quipping the sweat from her forehead.
"Phewee!" he said.
He then glanced up to the entrance of the temple. He gasped in anticipation as he stood up. He glanced back to Hiccup and Astrid.
"Hiccup, Astrid, come on!" he called down to them.
"You gotta see this!"
Migs glanced up to Elena.
"Well...?" he said, wondering why she was taking so long.
Elena glance to him and back at Fishlegs. She took a deep breath and was about to step out from around the corner. When suddenly she saw the boy with long spiky hair come up over the top of the stairs.
Elena gasped and hid back around the corner.
"Elena wha-"
Elena turned back to Migs, Skylar, Nico and Luna and shushed them.
Hiccup heard a sudden gasp somewhere off to his left. It sounded like a girls voice. He turned but saw there was no one there.
"Did you guys hear something?" he asked, glancing back to Fishlegs and Astrid.
"Hear what?" Astrid asked, curiously.
"I thought I heard someone gasp," Hiccup insisted.
"Sounded like a girl."
Astrid glanced to him, curiously.
"It wasn't me." She stated.
Hiccup turned and look back off to his left. He then shook his head.
"It was probably nothing." he said.
Elena peered around the corner to Hiccup. She came back around, feeling her heart beating rapidly in her chest. She felt her words stuck in her throat. Desperately, she pondering on what she was going to do? She couldn't just go out there.
Migs and Skylar glanced to each other, confusingly.
"Sis?" Neko asked.
Luna squinted her eyes, curiously. Elena had that nervous expression on her face. The same one when she...
Luna widened her eyes. She crept up and glanced around the corner, and saw the spiky haired boy from the clearing. Luna gasped.
"Luna!" Elena said, pulling her back around the corner.
"Ohh, princ-"
Elena quickly covered her hand over Luna's mouth. She glanced around the corner and saw that Hiccup and his friend, still talking as if they had heard nothing. Elena breathed a sigh of relief.
"I read somewhere that the inside of a Maruvian temple is decorated by carvings," Fishlegs said.
"Usually depicting Ancient folklore. Come on, let's check it out!"
Fishlegs rushed up toward the temple entrance. Hiccup and Astrid followed him into the temple.
Elena came around the corner of the temple as the three entered the temple. Migs, Skylar and Luna came up behind. He glanced curiously up at her.
"What was that?" Migs asked, curiously.
Elena glanced back at them.
"Huh?" she asked, curiously.
"You just froze up there," Mig brought up.
"What happened?"
Elena glanced down to the side.
"I...Uh..." she said, trying to figure out what to say.
Elena turned away, narrowing her head. These feelings she was having for that boy. They were making it harder for her to talk.
"I'll tell you what," Luna said.
"I think the princess has a little crush."
Elena widened her eyes as she turned back to them.
"No I don't!" she said, shaking her head.
"A crush?" Skylar said, glancing to his older sister.
"I don't have a crush!" Elena said, shaking her head.
Luna raised an eyebrow to the princess, smirking. She wasn't fooling her, seeing how she looked at that boy.
"Will you two stop arguing!" Migs said.
"They'll hear us!"
Elena sighed and looked away. She glanced to the entrance of the temple and took a deep breath.
"I can do this," she told herself.
"I can do this."
The Jaquin princess came up to the entrance of the temple. She peered around the corner and saw the three teens walking through the temple hallway. She came into temple and quietly crept after them as Skylar, Luna and Neko followed after her. They moved along side the pillars off to the left side of the hall. One of the teens then stopped and was about to look behind them.
Elena gasped. She, Skylar, Luna and Neko quickly hid behind one of the pillars.
Astrid glanced back to the entrance of the cave, swearing she noticed the something blocked the light from the entrance. But there was nothing there. Hiccup turned back to her.
"What is it?" he asked, curiously.
Astrid looked back to him.
"I thought there was someone there." she insisted.
Hiccup glanced back to the temple entrance.
"It's probably nothing." He insisted, glancing back down to her.
"Hiccup, Astrid!" Fishlegs called from down the hall.
Hiccup and Astrid turned and glanced down the hallway. They turned and walked the rest of the way down the all. They came into an open room. Where they found Fishlegs standing before a wall with a large stone carving.
"Fishlegs, what is it?" Hiccup asked, curiously
They came up to Fishlegs, turning to the wall. Hiccup gasped, shining his flash light up at the wall. Hiccup then gasped, staring at the stone carving.
"I don't believe it." Hiccup said in awe.
Carved over the stone wall, they saw an image of the Night Fury above the city of Maru.
"The Night Fury?" he said.
"I don't believe it." Astrid said.
Elena peered around the corner of the pillar. She saw the three teens looking up at the stone carving of the Nightfury. Skylar peered around the corner, hearing them talk.
"What are they saying?" He whispered to her.
Elena glanced down to her brother, shushing him as she tried to listen.
Hiccup shined his light down below the Nightfury. He saw another stone carvings of Maruvians bowing before the dragon. And in the center, was one of a man with a long beard, two horns over his head, holding up an axe. Hiccup once again gasped with anticipation.
"Guys, look at this!' he said, narrowing down.
Astrid and Fishlegs looked down to where he was shining his flashlight. And saw a the carving of a horned man.
"It's Moldolf!" Hiccup said, glancing to up at them.
Astrid came down next to him.
"Moldof?" she asked, curiously.
Elena squinted her eyes curiously to Hiccup.
"Moldolf?" she said.
Fishlegs came up, holding his chin as he observed the carvings. He glanced down at the people. They looked as if they were worshiping Moldolf and the Dragon. They must hail them as some sort of religious figures.
"I think the Maruvians worshiped Moldolf and the Nightfury as if they were some sort of god." Fishlegs insisted.
Hiccup and Elena glanced up to him, curiously.
"A god?" Astrid asked, curiously.
"Maruvian Pyramids like this were places where Maruvian's would go to worship and prey," Fishlegs explained.
"Usually making tributes and offerings to please them gods."
Hiccup stood up.
"You mean like how..."
Fishlegs shook his head.
"Uh... no," he said, knowing what he was referring to.
"Nothing like that. According to this architecture, the people would usually offerings them fish and goods. Usually on the night of the full moon. Rather then, you know."
Fishlegs smiled in excitement.
"Can you believe it?!" he exclaimed.
"The Maruvians worshiped Moldolf and the Knight fury. We found our first actual evidence of Viking and Maruvian culture."
The three stared up at the architecture in awe.
Migs paced anxiously outside the temple. He groaned.
"What is taking so long?" he said, glancing back at the entrance of the Temple.
He glanced out over the jungle and saw the sun had nearly set over the jungle. Chief Zaphyr and the other Jaquins would be here any minute now. If they haven't talk to the humans soon, there was going to have a serious problem.
"Elena," he said, glancing into the temple.
Migs then glanced back in the direction of the Mooncliff and noticed several forms in the shape of Jaquins. He turned squinting his eyes as he peered off into the distance. Though as her peered to them, he suddenly realized it was chief Zephyr and the Guardians. Migs widened his eyes.
"Oh no." he said.
