Professor Mendoza was walking through the hallway of one of one of the temples. She raised her flash light, shinning the light over the hieroglyphs embedded on the wall. Most of which depictions of ancient Maruvian texts. Much of which she had never seen before. Mendoza had studied Ancient Maru for years. But there hasn't been anything in written record of several of the symbols embedded on the wall.
She then paused as she came across a hieroglyph. This one depicting two Marvuvians standing before the sun and the moon, holding two scepters. One gold with a a Crystal blue top. The other silver with a purple ball on the very top.
Mendora squinted her eyes. She came up to the hieroglyph, examining the text.
"Professor Mendoza?" She asked, curiously.
Gasping at being suddenly startled, she turned and saw Grimmel standing behind her. She sighed in relief.
"Mr. Grimmel," she said.
"You startled me."
"My apologies, professor," Grimmel said.
"I was just looking at this glyphs. Some of these symbols I haven't seen before. But from what I can understand, this glyph, seems to tell of accent relics which posses magic."
"Magic?" Grimmel asked, curiously.
"According to theses symbols, it talks about two scepters," she explained to him.
"One of light and the other of Night. Whoever wields one of these scepters is said to posses the power of creation or destruction."
Grimmel squinted his eyes, curiously, peering up at the scepter.
"How interesting," he said.
Elena stared for the longest time at Hiccup and his friends, nervous and unsure.
"Princess?!" a whispering voice called from behind.
Elena glanced back and saw Migs rushing up to them.
"Chief Zephyrs here!" He said.
"He's here?" Skylar gasped.
"Skylar!" Elena whispered, shushing him
Hiccup, Fishlegs and Astrid glanced back upon hearing an unfamiliar voice.
"What was that?"she said, glancing to them.
"I don't know," Hiccup said, squinting his eyes.
Astrid shushed him.
"Listen!" She insisted.
Hiccup and Fishlegs paused as they listened. There was a faint whispering. One sounded like a girls voice.
"We have to get back the Mooncliff before anyone notices we're here." Migs advised the Jaquin Princess.
"But we still have to talk to them." Elena insisted.
"Hello?"
Elena gasped, glancing back. She peered around the corner and saw Hiccup and his friends glancing around the chamber. He walked up to the center before glancing toward her. Elena gasped and quickly hid behind the corner.
Something Hiccup raised his hand.
"Wait!" he said.
Astrid and Fishlegs glanced to him, curiously.
"What," Astrid asked, walking up to him.
"What is it?"
"Someone's here." He said.
"Who?" Fishlegs asked, curiously.
Slowly, he crept toward the corner.
"Hello?" He said.
Elena scooted closer to the wall. Migs, Skylar, Luna and Neko did the same. He glanced to her.
"Well?" Migs said.
"Professor Mendoza?"
Elena glanced around the corner. She then shook her head. She couldn't do this. She couldn't talk to them.
"I can't." she stated in a whispering tone.
"I can't do it!"
Skylar glanced to her, curiously.
"Big sis?" he asked.
She narrowed her head, frowning. She thought she could do this. But all these feelings she had been having for this boy. They were all getting in the way. And now it was going to be found by them.
What had she done?
It was getting dark. Several of Grimmel's men had finished setting up lights around the ruins. After the last one was placed, he glanced into the square and raised his thumb to him. The man nodded his head. He turned to the generator.
"Let there be light." he said, pressing the power button.
As the Generator causing the lights to flash on. One of the men standing over the top of the stairway glanced back to the entrance of the temple.
"Boss, we've finished setting up the lights!" He called to him.
Cruize and several Jaquins flew overhead of one of Grimmel's men. He glanced back up at his fellow Jaquins.
"Dive!" He ordered them.
He then dove and flew down at them.
A sudden black shadow loomed over him. But as he glanced up, he heard a cat-like growl as a jaguar's paw swiping the light. The man gasped out as it was followed by a loud roar.
Grimmel and Mendoza glanced back at the entrance of the temple upon hearing the roar.
"What was that?" Mendoza asked, looking up at Grimmel.
Grimmel turned and walked several steps forward, peering down the hall. That sound. The roar of a jaguar. He had heard it before. He grinned.
They were here.
Grimmel glanced back at Mendoza.
"Come on!" he said.
They then turned and rushed down the hall.
Just as Hiccup was the come around the corner, he then heard several jaguar like roars from outside. He turned, glancing down the hall at the temple entrance.
"What was that?" Astrid asked, curiously.
The three friends turned and rushed down the hall. Passing by the Jaquin princess and her fellow Jaquins without notice.
Elena stood up, hearing the roars of the Guardians attacking. She glanced down at Migs, Skylar, Luna and Neko, who looked back up at her.
Hiccup came out of the temple and came up over the top of the stairway. He peered below at the square and saw Grimmels man running back toward the trucks. All as strange winged shadows flew down at them.
He could hardly make out what they were. Much of the lights had been knocked over and the bulbs had been broken out. Those that still remained, he caught a small glimpse of whatever was chasing them. It looked almost like a Macaw. But much too big.
Astrid and Fishlegs came up behind him.
"Whats going on?" Fishlegs asked, glancing to Hiccup.
"I don't know," Hiccup said, shaking his head.
"Come on!"
Hiccup and Astrid took off down the steps.
"Hey, Guys wait!" Fishlegs said as he followed after them.
"Wait!"
Elena, Skylar, Niko, Luna and Migs came storming out of the Temple. They came up over the edge, peering below over the city square. She then gasped, seeing the guardians attacking the expedition.
"Oh no!" she said.
Grimmel and Professor Mendoza came running outside and saw his men rushing back toward the vehicles. He turned to one of his men, who was running toward them.
"Whats going on?" He asked.
Though it was right then that something flew overhead of them, causing them to duck down. Grimmel glanced back and caught a glimpse of what looked to be a jaguar-like creature with Maccaw wings before it flew into the darkness. With a conniving grinning, all of what he had suspected was so. Luckily, he had come prepared for this very situation.
He glanced down to Professor.
"Come, professor!" He said, taking her by her shoulders.
He then guided her along toward the vehicles.
Hiccup and Astrid came down the steps of the temple. Fishlegs rushed as fast to keep up with them.
"Hiccup, Astrid, wait up!" He said.
Something suddenly swept passed Fishlegs from behind, knocking him from behind.
"Wow, wow, wow!" Fishlegs gasped, his arms flaying in air.
Struggling to keep his footing over the step, he then fell forward. Rolling down the steps like a large boulder.
"Hiccup!" He called to them.
Hiccup and Astrid glanced back and saw Fislegs rolling down toward them.
"Wow!" Astrid gasped.
Quickly they stepped to each side as he rolled passed them. He came down over the steps and landed flat over his stomach. Hiccup and Astrid ran down the stairway and came up next to Fishlegs.
"Fishlegs, you alright?" Hiccup asked, curiously.
Fishllegs leaned up his head, groaning.
"I'm alright." He insisted, raising a finger.
Astrid glanced up before gasping.
"Duck!" she called out.
"What?" Hiccup said, glancing back.
Upon spotting the shadowy form behind them, Hiccup quickly docked down. The form of which flew overhead.
"W- what was that?!" Fishlegs asked.
They glanced up and saw it fly ahead into the night.
"I don't think I wanna find out." Hiccup said before standing up.
Grabbing Fishlegs by his arms, they helped them up onto his feet. After of which they ran ahead into the square.
Grimmel came around to the back of the truck. Letting go of Professor, he pulled down the tailgate and climbed up into the back. He walked over to large crate in the front. Undoing the latches, he flipped it open to reveal a crossbow inside. Pulling out the crossbow, he took one of the arrows from the side.
Quickly pulling back the lever, he placed the arrow over the middle and the string. He then held up his crossbow, taking aim at one of the flying shadow forms.
Elena glanced to one of the trucks in the Square. It was there she saw a man standing at the back holding up what looked to be a crossbow. She then gasped.
"Look!" She said, pointing down into the square.
"One of the people are armed!"
Skylar and Migs peered below. They saw a man standing in the back of one of the trucks, holding what looked to be a crossbow. Migs widened his eyes.
"Oh No!" He said.
"The Guardians are in danger!" Elena exclaimed.
"We have to warn Chief Zephyr!"
Skylar came up next to his sister, moving his wing to the side.
"Hope on!" he said.
Elena climbed onto her brother's back.
"Wings up, Amigo's!" He called out to Migs, Luna and Neko
The four Jaquins then spread their wings and flew off into the square. Unannounced to them of the looming shadow in the mere distance, blocking out the stars. Souring toward the ruins.
