Chapter 4, The Viking and the Princess

The Night Fury soured height above the jungle, carrying Hiccup within his two front claws. Hiccup continued to struggle within it's hold, trying to worm himself free from the creatures claws. Yet no matter how hard he tried, the beasts strength far exceeded that of his own. But even still, he wouldn't give up and become this creature's next meal. He had to do something.

Hiccup called out for the other's.

"Help!" he exclaimed.

"Astrid, Fishlegs!"

Hiccup was suddenly struck in the back of the head by a brush of leaves and branches. He gasped, shaking his head. He then glanced below, where he saw they were high above the trees. He the gasped.

"Wow!" He exclaimed.

"Okay, okay, not a good idea."

He glanced back up at the Night Fury. All the while the creature of the night peered ahead through the dark of night. Hiccup glanced ahead in the direction it was heading in. Where was it taking him? What was it going to do with him?

Hiccup could only linger of whatever it was that the creature wanted to do with him. He had to be honest, he wasn't really liking the possibilities that awaited for both him and the creature. His biggest concern was that he would be the creature's next meal. He hoped that Astrid and the others would be able to find him in time. Though it was looking that it wasn't likely.

Though little did he know the possibility of being rescued was not entirely out of the question.

Following close behind the Night Fury, Elena and Skylar continued to pursue the creature of the night. All in the hopes of rescuing the boy it had captured back at the plaza. The princess squinted her eyes as she peered under the Night Fury. It was there that she saw it was holding Hiccup underneath him. She gasped in relief.

"There!" she said, pointing underneath the Night fury.

Elena glanced down at her brother.

"Skylar, get me in close!" she said.

"What are you going to do?" Skylar asked, curiously.

Elena glanced down to her sash. She then reached down down and pulled out her scepter.

"Nothing a little blaze can solve." she proclaimed to her brother.

"Your going to blast it?" Skylar asked in shock.

"Of course not," she reassured him.

"I'm just going to startle it enough for it to drop him."

"I hope you know what your doing, sis." Skylar said as he turned forward.

Skylar then flew forward as he came up close behind the Night Fury. Just as he came up behind the valley's guardian, Elena held up his scepter and took aim above the Night Fury. Just as she was to blast, the Night fury glanced back and spotted the two following behind him.

"Blaze...!" she said.

Acting quickly, the Night Fury turned over onto it's back and shot a purple fire ball from it's mouth. Skylar gasped.

"Look out!" he exclaimed as he dove down to the jungle below.

Elena gasped at her brother's sudden decent to the foliage of trees. Her scepter raised into the air as the bolt of magic shot out from the Dimond tip of her scepter. The magic bolt struck a nearby tree as the Night fury flew by. The purple ball of fire flew overhead of them. Skylar glanced back at his older sister.

"You okay back there, sis?" Skylar asked, curiously.

Elena nodded her head to her brother.

"Yeah, I'm fine." she said.

The Jaquin princess then peered up at the Night Fury. It was there that she saw the creature of the Night fly ahead into the night with the boy.

"It's moving too fast," Skylar insisted to them.

"We'll never catch them like this. Maybe we should go get Chief Zephyr and the others."

Elena shook her head. There was no time to go get help from Chief Zephyr and the other Guardians. Not when they were this close. Even if they did, none of them would even know where to look for them. Going back for help, they would lose the Night Fury.

"Not when we're this close," Elena proclaimed to her brother.

"We have to keep following them."

Skylar flew up over the jungle as they continued to pursue the Nightfury. Elena then peered ahead. They were now far ahead of them. Though it was not hard to see with the full moon in the night's wake, revealing the black shadow in the form with the wings of bat. It was then that she noticed the creature was heading toward the two mountains peaks in the distance.

She then gasped in realisation.

"Look!" she said, pointing ahead at the mountains.

Skylar gazed in the direction of the mountain peaks. It was there that he noticed the Night Fury was heading toward them. He gasped in realization.

"It's heading toward those mountains." Skylar said, glancing back at her.

Elena glanced up at the Night Fury. Seeing it was heading toward the mountain peaks, the Jaquin princess suddenly had an idea of what it might be.

"I think I know where it might be going," Elena insisted to her brother.

"Lets go!"

The two then flew on ahead toward after the Night fury toward what was that lied within the mountains ahead.

Grimmel's men were hard at work putting out the fires around the plaza. All the while, Astrid and Fishlegs searched the ruins for Hiccup. Emerging from one of the temples, Astrid glanced around the plaza.

"Hiccup!" Astrid called out.

"Hiccup, where are you?!"

Astrid came down the stone stairway to the plaza below. She glanced around the ruins before turning to her right to see Fishlegs and Professor Mendoza coming up to her.

"We searched all the Temples," Fishlegs claimed.

"He not there."

Astrid glanced to the side as she thought. They had searched the entire plaza and all the Temples. But even still Hiccup was no where to be found. Did he go off into the jungle?

No. That wasn't like Hiccup to do in a time like this. So then where did he go?

"This doesn't make sense," She said to herself.

"Where did he go?"

"I think I might know."

Astrid, Fishlegs and Mendoza glanced over to Grimmel, who was kneeling down over something. The three walked over to the expert tracker, where they found him standing over a large foot print of some kind.

"Wow." Astrid said in awe.

Fishlegs narrowed down as he examined the foot print. It didn't resemble any of the native creatures of the Amazon. At his best guess, it resembled that of a reptile. But it was much too big. The biggest reptile in Mexico was the Gila Monster. But this didn't resemble that of it's foot prints. This looked bigger, with four claw marks.

"What could make tracks like these?" Fishlegs asked, curiously.

"Don't know," Grimmel proclaimed to them.

"But whatever it was..."

He then glanced over and saw the tracks come over what looked to be that of human foot prints.

"Think it made off with your friend." He said, glancing to the two.

"Hiccup!" Fishlegs said.

Astrid and Fishlegs glanced to one another, worryingly. Their friend who they have known since they were little, kidnapped by an unknown creature. Astrid turned to Grimmel.

"We got to find him!" She exclaimed to them.

Grimmel stood up as he glanced down over the tracks. The beasts foot prints looked to be two feet from the spot of where Hiccup had fallen. But then just end there. There was no sign of any other tracks and no indication that had dragged him off into the nearby foliage. It was as if they had disappeared.

"Might be easier said then done," Grimmel insisted to them.

"There's no other tracks. It looks to just end here."

"How is that possible?" Astrid asked, curiously.

"Because it fly's." Grimmel proclaimed to them.

The three glanced to the expect tracker, curiously.

"Fly?" Mendoza asked, curiously.

Grimmel stood up and gazed up at the main temple. The sight of which he saw the beast emerge, where it gave it's loud, screeching roar before it's attack. He then grinned as now another opportunity had presented itself. A new form of game for the hunt. Something much greater then even the Jaquins which he sought.

Although he still intended to hunt those winged cats for all their worth. Only now, he would have a giant winged beast to add to the fortune he would soon have.

He needed to find them and soon.

Grimmel turned back to the others.

"I will take a few of my men and track it down." He proclaimed to them.

"I'm going with you." Astrid insisted to him.

Grimmel shook his head.

"There's no need," he insisted to her.

"I will bring him back. It's much too dangerous for any of you."

"But..." Astrid said.

"I insisted." he cut her off.

"Besides, I am sure Mandoza will need your help in order to gather artifacts for the Museum."

Grimmel then walked passed Astrid, who glanced back at him. She stared back at him, squinting her eyes, curiously. Something didn't feel right. He seemed rather eager to go after the creature that took Hiccup. A little too eager.

Whatever it was, she needed to get to the bottom of it.

The Night Fury flew ahead toward the two mountain peaks. It then flew into the canyon between the two mountain peaks. Elena and Skylar flew up and saw the Night Fury heading into the canyon. The two glanced up to each other, seeing the creature was going in the way they had thought. They then flew in after it, entering into the canyon.

Though as they came in between the mountains, the bright light of the moon was suddenly blocked out by the stone walls of the mountain off to their left. Now flying through a cavern of shadows, they could hardly see the Guardian of the night. Skylar squinted his eyes, peering ahead.

"I can't see it." he proclaimed to his sister.

"It's too dark."

"Don't worry," Elena insisted to her brother.

"I got this."

Elena held out her scepter.

"Reveal."

The crystal top lit up and shined through the darkness. It was there that they saw the Night Fury make a U-turn up ahead.

"There it is!" she exclaimed.

Skylar flew after the Night fury, following the way which was revealed by Elena's scepter. He then preformed a U-turn and as the light of Elena's scepter then revealed what liked ahead. The Jaquin princess gasped in awe. At the base of the mountains, they saw a large maruvian temple.

"Look at that." Elena proclaimed.

"What is it?" Skylar asked, glancing up at her.

"Looks like an old Maruvian temple." Elena insisted to her brother.

Skylar glanced back at the temple and saw the Night Fury was heading for the temple.

"Looks like it's headed for the Temple." Skylar insisted to her.

The light from Elena's scepter suddenly went out. The jaquin princess uttered a sigh of exhaustion, placing her hand over her head.

"Hey, you alright, sis?" Skylar asked, curiously.

Elena nodded her head, glancing up at him.

"I'm alright," she insisted to her brother.

"Just need a breather from using the scepter."

"It looks like it's headed for the temple." Skylar proclaimed to his sister.

Elena gasped in realization.

"That must be where it's nest is!" Elena proclaimed.

"How are we going to get close?" Skylar asked, curiously.

Elena glanced to the side as she thought for a moment. She then widened her eyes in realization.

"I have an Idea!" She proclaimed to her brother.
