Elena and Hiccup trudged through the blackened jungle of the mountain canyon. Plowing through the foliage, Elena continued to pull Hiccup along. Much of the foliage brushed back and hit Hiccup in the face. He groaned and spat out the leaves and brushed it to the side. They then heard the Night Fury Roar back in the direction of the temple.
Hiccup glanced back to the temple. But he could hardly see it anymore. It was so dark and the jungle had all but concealed the lost ruins of the lost Maruvian city. Luckily, the Night Fury sounded close by. It must be after them.
He peered up above the foliage, where he saw familiar shadow creature flying overhead.
"It's coming!" he said, glancing back down at Elena.
Elena glanced back up at the Night Fury. She then gazed ahead and saw a small opening ahead beneath the trees. She then gasped in relief.
"This way." She said, glancing back at him.
The two came into a small clearing underneath the trees. Elena glanced back at Hiccup, putting her finger to her lips, shushing him. They glanced up at the foliage above, where they saw the Night Fury pass overhead as it blanked out the stars which they could see from the narrow opening through the foliage above.
Just as it became silent, Elena breath a sigh of relief. She then stood up and glanced back at Hiccup.
"I think it's gone." She reassured him.
Hiccup breathed a sigh of relief. He glanced up at the one who had saved him. But it was still too dark to see who it was that saved him.
"Uh... thanks...uh." Hiccup said, squinting his eyes.
Elena turned back to him before she then realized. It was too dark for either of them to see each other.
"Oh, hang on." She said to him.
Glanced down to her side, she reached down to her scepter. Only to then pause as any sort of light may end up attracting the Night Fury. She had better keep it dim so that it won't notice. Elena reached down pulled out her scepter and held it above her head.
"Glow!" she said.
The Dimond atop her scepter the gave a bright blue light. Hiccup glanced away, shielding his eyes.
"Oh..." Hiccup said.
"What is...?"
Hiccup glanced up and as his eyes adjusted to the light, it was there he saw a girl holding up a golden scepter. He widened his eyes, staring in awe. The girl appeared to be Latino with olive-skin. Her eyes were a amber-brown with ruby red lips and long wavy brown hair tied back in a pony tail. She was wearing what looked to be a knee high dress of light and dark blue feathers with yellow and blue spotted fur. Along with a brown belt around her waist.
Hiccup found himself staring at the strange girl who had saved his life, unable to look away for even a moment.
She was so... beautiful.
"Ah, that's better." she said, smiling.
"I just hope it doesn't notice us."
Elena then turned to Hiccup. It was then she noticed him staring back at her in awe. Seeing his bright green eyes looking back at her, Elena's face suddenly turned red. She glanced to the side, draping her hair behind her ear. She was faced with the boy who she had strange feelings for. And even now, those feelings had silenced her from speaking.
But she couldn't just stand there. She had to say something to him. Elena took a deep breath, calming her nerves. She then glanced back up at him before speaking up to him.
"Um... hello." she said, smiling.
Hiccup was then snapped back to reality. Realizing that he was staring, he glanced to the side, rubbing the back of his head.
"Uh... hi," Hiccup said, struggling to find the right words.
"Umm... th-thanks for... I mean, thanks for saving you... I mean me!"
Hiccup groaned, shaking his head. He knew what he was trying to say. But for whatever reason, he struggled to say them. He never had this trouble when he talked to Astrid and the other girl back home in Berk. So why was it so hard now?
Elena found herself smiling at how awkward he seemed to appear.
"Your welcome." she said, smiling.
Hiccup turned back to her, squinting his eyes to her.
"I... didn't know there were people in the valley." Hiccup proclaimed to the Jaquin princess.
"Well... there's not, actually," Elena insisted to him.
"This is my home."
"Your... home?" Hiccup asked, squinting his eyes curiously.
Elena nodded her head to him. It was right at that moment that they heard rustling in the foliage off to their left. Followed by a familiar voice.
"Sis!"
The two turned and saw Skylar leap out of the foliage and landed next to the two. Hiccup gasped as he backed away. Elena quickly cover his mouth before he could say a word. Skylar was just about to speak up, when Elena then turned to her brother, shushing him. She then glanced up at the tree tops, peering through the narrow openings above. Only to see the stars above over the night sky. But no sign of the Night Fury, much to her relief.
Elena breathed a sigh of relief. When suddenly she heard Hiccup mumbling from behind. She glanced back at him and saw she was still covering his mouth. She then gasped in realization.
"Oh, sorry." she said, taking back her hand.
Hiccup gasped for air. He then stared in awe at the sight of the winged jaguar.
"Wh...what... what is... that?!" he asked, curiously.
"Um, hello?" Skylar proclaimed to him.
"I am a Jaquin, Guardian of the Valley."
Upon hearing it speak, Hiccup was left completely speechless.
"It... it.. Talks..." he said.
"And it knows English."
Hiccup shook his head.
"It's official, I have gone crazy." He proclaimed to himself.
Elena chuckled.
"It's alright." she reassured him.
Elena the turned and walked over to Skylar. She then narrowed down next to her brother, petting the yellow and white fur over his back and neck. Skylar leaned in to his sister's touch, nuzzling her.
"This is my brother, Skylar." she insisted, glancing back up at him.
"Your... brother?" Hiccup asked, curiously.
Elena nodded her head to him.
"That's right, amigo," Skylar proclaimed to him.
"And she's my big sis."
Skylar then leaned in and nuzzled her older sister, giving a soft purr. Elena in turn chuckled at her brother's touch.
"Skylar." she said
Elena then stood up, rubbing the spot of her cheek where he had felt his touch. She then glanced up at Hiccup, who looked back at her, squinting his eyes.
"Who are you?" Hiccup asked, curiously.
Elena glanced down to Skylar, who looked back up to her. She then glanced back to Hiccup and turned to face him.
"I'm Elena." she answered, placing her hand over her chest.
"Hiccup." Hiccup said.
"Oh, excuse you." Elena said.
Hiccup smiled as he shook his head.
"No, no," he insisted to her.
"It's my name. Hiccup Haddock."
Elena glanced to the side as she thought. Hiccup Haddock.
What a cute name.
The Jaquin scouts had returned to the moon cliff after patrolling the valley. They flew down to the pillars below, where the other Guardians were gathered. They landed at the centre of the pillars, where they gazed up at Chief zephyr who stood over the high ledge.
"Chief Zephyr," one of the scouts said.
"We've searched the valley. There's no sign of Skylar or the princess anywhere."
Luna and Neko glanced to one another, worryingly. Both Elena and Skylar haven't been seen since the attack on the ruins. Many feared that they might have been captured by the humans. They had sent several Jaquins back to the ruins to inspect what the humans were doing, but they had yet to return.
Chief Zephyr frowned as he stood up over the ledge.
"Thank you for your efforts." He said, nodding his head to them.
He then gazed down at the other Guardians, who all gazed back at him. Some of which appeared concern for their missing princess.
"I understand that many of you are concerned," the chief proclaimed to them.
"But I assure all of you that we will find them."
Migs, Luna and Niko glanced to one another, their worry's and fears were the most out of all of them. Though most of them would soon be put to rest as the other scouts had returned from the ruins. landing before the ledge where the chief stood.
"Chief Zephyr," one of the scouts said.
"The humans are still at the ruins."
"Did you see Princess Elena or Skylar?" The chief asked, curiously.
The scout shook his head to him.
"They were not there." he claimed to Zephyr.
There was a sigh of relief and eruption of chatter from the other Guardians. Many of the fears they may have had been laid to rest when hearing they were not with the humans.
"Phew," Luna said, whipping her forehead.
"That's a relief."
"Don't get your hopes up," Migs insisted before
"Elena and Skylar are still missing."
"Yes, but I am afraid it is too late to keep searching," Chief Zephyr proclaimed to them.
"What?" Niko exclaimed.
"This is not up for discussion, Niko," Migs claimed to him.
"We're all exhausted. We need to rest."
Zephyr nodded his head in agreement with Migs.
"I am afraid Migs is right," The Chief insisted to him.
"We will have to resume the search in the morning. I am sorry, Niko."
Niko frowned, narrowing his head. He then glanced back over the valley behind them, hoping that his older brother and sister were somewhere safe.
Hiccup gazed at the Scepter Elena was holding, curiously. Seeing the way the Dimond top lit up in a bright blue light, it was almost fascinating for words.
"How are you making it light up like that?" Hiccup asked, glancing to her.
"Well, it's sort of magic," She proclaimed to him, glancing down at her scepter.
"Well, I am actually. It makes the scepter light up and stuff."
She then looked back up at Hiccup, who glanced up at her, confusingly. While Hiccup would admit that tonight had seen some strange occurrences, he didn't believe in the existence of magic. It was all fictitious. How could it even be possible?
"Uh hah..." He said, nodding his head.
The light from Elena's scepter began to dim as she began feeling dizzy. She then lowered the scepter, groaning. Just as he was about to fall, Hiccup quickly caught her in his arms. Elena placed her hand over her forehead, groaning.
"Are you okay?" Hiccup asked, curiously.
Elena glanced up at Hiccup. Feeling him holding her in his arms, Elena face turned red.
"Yeah," she insisted to him.
"Just tired. I can't really use the scepter this long."
Hiccup slowly set Elena down against one of the trees. She glanced down at her scepter and placed it in her hoist. She then glanced over to Hiccup, who came up to them. Skylar came up to his sister.
"You alright, sis?" Skylar asked, curiously.
Elena nodded her head to him.
"I'm okay, Skylar." She reassured him, petting his head.
Elena glanced down at the scepter, where she noticed the last of it's light slowly fade away. It was then they heard the Nigh Fury's roar in the distance, causing both Hiccup and Skylar to look back.
"Uh oh." he said.
"No, no, listen," Hiccup said as he stood up.
"This one sounds far off."
"It must be searching for us in the valley." Elena proclaimed.
"Even still, we should probably stay here for tonight," Skylar insisted to them
"Wait for it to return to it's temple."
Hiccup nodded his head in agreement. While he wanted to go find Astrid and the others, it was too dangerous to go searching for them. Especially with that thing out there. It was probably best to wait it out. He only hoped that Astrid and everyone else was okay.
