The winged spiked creatures continued to surround the top of the temple from all sides. Gaping their mouths open so wide Elena, Hiccup and Skylar caught sight of their many sharp teeth. The sight alone made them quiver in fear, their imaginations filling in the blanks of what they would do to them. Slowly, they stepped away from the creatures.
"Uh guys, these things don't look too happy." Skylar said, glancing back at them.
Hiccup nodded his head in agreement.
"We must be in their territory," Hiccup insisted to them.
"They must just be acting territorial. We need to get out of here!"
"Uh, Hiccup, I think that's gonna be hard without Skylar being able to fly." Elena said to him.
Elena attempted to step forward toward the winged spiked creatures. Only to quickly saunter back as one of them lunged forward toward her, bellowing to her as it revealed it's many sharp teeth to her.
"And I don't think they're gonna just let us go." Elena insisted to them.
Hiccup shifted his gaze back at the spiked flyers, who continue to bellow to them. It was clear that there was no easy way of getting out of this. Not without fighting their way out.
"You got a point," Hiccup said, turning forward.
"Looks like we're going to have to fight our way out."
Though they were clearly at a disadvantaged in that regards. Glancing down at Moldoff's sword, while usuals, they would need more then just a sword to take these things on.
"Not that we have any other options." He said to himself.
Elena turned forward. Reaching down to her side, Elena drew her scepter as she held it forward the winged creatures. Hiccup glanced to her, curiously.
"Uh, Elena, I don't think your scepters gonna be much help in this situation." Hiccup insisted to her.
Elena glanced to him with a sly grin.
"Oh yeah?" She said.
She then raised her scepter up at the winged creatures.
"Blaze!" she exclaimed.
A blast of yellow light shot out from the Dimond tip of her scepter, causing the spiked winged to disburse.
"Blaze!" Elena exclaimed, firing again at the creatures.
Hiccup glanced to her in awe.
"Wow, how did it...?" Hiccup asked, curiously.
"It's a long story." Elena insisted to her.
"Come on!"
Elena took Hiccup's hand as the two rushed down the stairway. Skylar rushed after them as they made their way down the temple steps. Glancing up, Hiccup spotted one of the winged spiked creatures fly over them. It then flung it's tail down at them, sending several spiked projectiles their way. Hiccup gasped.
"Look out!" Hiccup exclaimed, quickly pushing her out of the way.
The two rolled down the stairs as the spike plunged into the stone steps. Skylar slid to a stop over the steps.
"Wow!" He exclaimed.
Just as it flung it's tail down at him. Skylar quickly leaped up into the air as it's spikes plunged down over where he stood. Elena and Hiccup rolled down the steps before landing over the ground. Skylar landing next to them. He glanced to them, grinning.
"Hey, guys." He said.
Several spikes plunged into the ground before them. They then glanced up, seeing the Whisperings Deaths flying above them, flinging their spikes back at them. Hiccup got back up quickly, helping Elena up onto her feet.
"Get behind me!" Hiccup proclaimed to her.
He came up in front of the princess, raising Moldoff's shield as he blocked the spikes from hitting them. The sudden gesture of Hiccup caused Elena to blush a bright red and her heart flutter, seeing him protect her. And just as he did for her, she also would protect him and Skylar. Just as it was another Whispering Death was about to fling it's spike at them.
"Watch out!" Elena exclaimed, raising her staff.
"Blaze!"
She then blasted at the Whispering Deaths, knocking it out of the air.
"Nice shot, sis!" Skylar said.
The Whispering death struck the ground in massive explosion of dust. Only for it to clear and reveal a burrowing hole in it's place. Hiccup and Elena both gasped, startled at the creature's sudden disappearance.
"Oh boy." Elena said.
They then felt a sudden vibration from underfoot. Hiccup glanced down before gasping in realization.
"Move!" Hiccup proclaimed, grabbing hold of her arm.
The two quickly leaped forward as the Whispering Death emerged from the ground with a loud shriek. Hiccup stood up and with Moldoff's sword and Shield in hand, charged forward toward the Whispering Death. With a swat of it's tail, the winged creature sent several spikes hurling toward him.
"Hiccup, look out!" Elena called to him.
Reacting quickly to the incoming projectiles, Hiccup raised Moldoff's shield as the spikes plunged into the shield. He then rushed forward, raising Moldoff's sword which once again glowed a bright purple. Just before swiping at the Whispering Death, the Blade suddenly ignited into flames. Elena and Skylar glanced in awe at the sight of Hiccup's sword.
"Wow!" Elena said.
Hiccup delivered a massive swing of Moldoff's sword at the Whispering Death, which flew back from his blazing sword. The winged creature screeched in pain at the flames. The other whispering deaths came at Hiccup. Only to be forced back by a wave of his flaming sword. Hiccup paused, glancing to his sword which blazed with fire.
"This is... new." Hiccup said.
Elena and Hiccup rushed over to him.
"Hiccup, how are you doing that?" she asked, curiously.
Hiccup glanced to her, shaking his head.
"I don't... I don't know." he said, glancing to them.
Though the two had little time to ponder the reason behind the sword, as she then saw more of the spikes coming at them. Elena gasped as she pushed them out of the way of the spikes, landing over the ground. Glancing up, they saw that they had regrouped and were now flying over them. Elena raised her scepter at the Whispering Death.
"Blaze!" She exclaimed, as her scepter blasted a bolt of light.
Only for the Whispering Deaths to swerve out of the way of her blast. Elena sighed in exhaustion, narrowing her scepter as she fell onto her knees.
"Elena?" Hiccup said.
Hiccup and Skylar came up to her.
"I'm fine." she said to him.
The two then heard the shrieking of the Whispering Death from above. Looking up, they saw one of the whispering deaths shrieking as they flew toward them. Hiccup raised his shield to the protect Elena, waiting the moment the winged beast would make impact.
When suddenly a bolt of purple light flew struck the whispering Death, causing it to hurl in pain as it flew back. Hiccup raised his glance up at Whispering Death, curiously. They then heard a loud roar from the tunnel behind them. Glancing back, they saw a black shadow emerged from the tunnel above as it flew out over them. Hiccup and Elena glanced up up in awe of the black dragon with the wings of a bat. The dragon landed before them, bellowing at the Whispering Deaths.
"The Night Fury!" Elena said.
Hiccup glanced to her in awe.
"The... Night Fury?" Hiccup said.
Hiccup could hardly believe it. The dragon of which his ancestor had sought all those years ago, now laid before his very eyes.
The Night Fury bellowed once more at the surrounding Whispering Deaths, who screeched back at him. Flinging their tails forward, they shot several spikes at the Night Fury, who leaped back from the spikes. He then blasted several plasma blasts at the Whispering Deaths, causing them to fly back. The Night Fury lunged forward as he continued to blast at the Whispering Deaths. Only for the Whispering Death to fling their spikes at him.
Though the Night Furry continued to avoid their spikes. Though the attempts became more frequent then before, the Night Fury struggled to keep up with avoiding them.
"He's in trouble!" Elena proclaimed.
Hiccup stood up as he rushed over to the Night Fury, despite the dismay of Elena and Skylar. The Night Fury continued to blast as the Whispering Death continued to fly in about to avoid the firing. One of the winged Earth burrowers growled as he readied to fling his spikes at the unsuspecting Night Fury. Hiccup spotted the Whispering Death and what he was about to do.
"Look out!" He exclaimed, rushing over to the Night Fury.
The Whispering Death flung it's spikes at the Night Fury, who shifted his glance to the incoming spikes. Before he could react, Hiccup came in front of him and blocked the spikes with his shield. He glanced back at the Night Fury, who glanced to him.
"That was too close." He said to him.
Hiccup turned forward as he charged at the Whispering death, swinging his flaming sword at it, causing it to fly back. But despite their best efforts, The Whispering Deaths continued to swarm them from all about, flaying their spike at them. Several landing near Elena and Skylar. Hiccup glanced back at her, worryingly.
"Elena!" He exclaimed.
Hiccup shifted his gaze back up at the Whispering Deaths. There was no way they could fight these things. Nor could they stay here anymore. They had to get out of here. But the only way out was the opening above. Hiccup glanced back to Night Fury.
"I don't suppose we could ask for a ride."
The Night Fury growled to him, earning a nervous glance from Hiccup. Only then see him narrow down, as if he was offering him a ride. Hiccup was surprised at the sudden gesture of the Night Fury. Before even climbing up onto it's back, he then turned and rushed over to Elena.
"Come on, we're getting out of here!" he proclaimed to her.
Helping Elena onto her feet, she lead her toward the Night Fury as the two climbed up onto it's back. Skylar came up to her.
"Hey, what about me?" Skylar asked, curiously.
Hiccup glanced down at the Night Fury.
"Don't suppose you could carry a third passenger?" He asked, curiously.
The Night Fury threw a annoyed glanced back at the other he would have to carry out of here. The fact that it was also the jaquin who had chased him down the night before.
"Please." Hiccup asked.
The Night Fury rolled his eyes. He then spread it's large bat-like wings before leaping into the air. He came up over Skylar, where her came down and grabbed hold of him in his claws.
"Ow, easy with those things!" Skylar said.
He then leaped into the air as he flew up toward the narrow opening above. Many of the Whispering Death continued to hurl their spikes at them. Hiccup glance back, spotting the incoming projectiles.
"Look out!" He shouted.
The Night Fury shifted his gaze back at the incoming spikes, causing him to swerve back and forth to avoid them. Hiccup and Elena leaned forward holding tightly. From below, Skylar gasped as he curled up in a ball as the spikes flew passed them. Though despite their efforts, the Night Fury continued to avoid their spikes as he flew up through the narrow opening above.
Hiccup glanced back at the cavern, before giving a sigh of relief.
"That was too close." Hiccup said.
The Night Fury glanced up as he nodded his head, flying ahead toward the direction of his temple.
