Chapter 18: A Epic Curb Stomping of Titanic Proportions
/Before the chapter starts, I'm gonna add a few things here to address some holes in the story that I plan to fix at a later date. Firstly, Anti Jules is a robot, Dr Kintobor managed to digitize his consciousness and upload it to a robot body, giving him a second chance at life, as Scourge made it apparent in the Archie comics that he killed his own dad. Or implied he did. Secondly, Shen is a minor reference to Kung Fu Panda 2, and he does sound like Gary Oldman, just remove the villainy, but keep the ability to lie like nobody's business. Thirdly, if anyone does get mildly or majorly upset at what happened in chapter 16, I'd like to remind you of the disclaimer at the very beginning of the story that highlights the fact this story is 18 and as such will include a lot of 18 related topics with a few exceptions. Fourthly, yes I made two Destiny references in chapter 17, directly naming off two Exotics, the Liar's Handshake, and Gemini Jester. Fifth, there will be segments that will clue you into what kind of music or song is playing in the background going forward (if I remember) but otherwise, try to imagine a nice smooth synthwave ambience for when nothing major is happening, but during a fight, I'll be tossing songs from various games and franchises that I think will fit a scene. Spoilers: there's going to be a scene where "Gohan Powers Up" is the background theme later on. Sixth: I'm going to be changing the details of the Chaos Solstice around a bit later in the story, yes Special Stages exist, but when it comes to what I originally had planned, it wouldn't add enough tension imo for someone to just sit in the Hidden Palace, run through 7 Special Stages, and call it good, so for the sake of plot, THAT power is still sealed but will be unsealed near the end of the story. Finally, any and all grammar or spelling errors will be fixed at a later date as well when I go back and edit the earlier chapters to keep things mostly fres, and I may change up the way dialogue is handled as well to help people visualize how a character is feeling in a scene instead of using the format I have been, which is like a play kinda deal. With that said? On with the chapter! This may be a tad shorter as I'm typing these on GoogleDocs, so pardon my dust there.
Angel Island. 6:00 pm.
Valkyr was climbing the trees of the jungle Angel Island, scouring the place for other fruits to stock up. She was going to be here for a while, so she may as well be ready for a prolonged stay by stockpiling what she could, whether it be food, or general use supplies like sewing equipment.
She found a tree with plenty of fruit, and she proceeded to pick them off, tossing them to a basket she had set below where she was. Once done, she grabs the basket and carries it with her tail, continuing her scavenge.
She stops as she comes across some old ruins, deciding maybe to investigate them at a later date. She took out a map that was made and given to her by Knuckles, marking it down on it before putting it back and resuming her hunt.
Eventually she stops, and she sniffs the air. She could have sworn she had picked up a foul scent, but as quickly as it came, it was already gone. She stayed still as she pondered what it was she smelled…
Valkyr: … Why did that smell so… familiar? And wrong…?
Questions for later. She sees a tree bearing coconuts close, and she got to work on taking them down. Once her basket was full, she returned to her cabin. Once back inside, she sorted each fruit she found and then sighs. She was going to be busy.
She hears a knock on her door, and she opens it slightly, peeking through the gap to see Shadow the Hedgehog.
Shadow: Valkyr, it's me. May I come in?
Valkyr opens the door fully and lets the black hedgehog in. Once inside, Shadow looks around, noticing all the various decorative markings around the place.
Shadow: You guys were busy.
Valkyr: The runes were my handiwork. They're there to fortify the wood so it can hold my weight without breaking.
Shadow: Wait, how much do you weigh?
Valkyr fidgets a bit…
Valkyr: … Over 90 tons…
Shadow was slack jawed and wide eyed. She weighed 198416.036 POUNDS?!
Shadow: How are you THAT heavy?!
Valkyr: Muscle mass and density combined with my bone structure being a dense crystalline structure.
Shadow: Wait. Are you telling me that every part of you, including your… Ahem… is PURE MUSCLE?
Valkyr nods.
Valkyr: You can say breasts, you know.
Shadow: Sorry, just felt rude.
Valkyr: Well to clear the air, you can look, but no touchy.
Shadow: Noted. Anyways. I have a proposition for you. You remember the group of people who held you?
Valkyr's mood instantly went south.
Valkyr: … Yes.
Shadow: Want to get some payback on them?
Valkyr nodded, clenching her hand into a fist. Her knuckles popped loudly when she did and her eyes turned from blue to red.
Valkyr: When can I start?
Shadow: As soon as possible. But before that, I need you to listen to me carefully, okay?
Valkyr managed to reign her anger in, her eyes turning blue again as she nodded.
Valkyr: Okay. What do you need me to do?
Shadow: I need you to work with Shen the Peacock to sabotage Surge's operations. Specifically, I need you both to locate any weapons caches she has, and secure them if you can. If you can't, destroy them.
Valkyr: Huh? But wouldn't you want to keep them intact?
Shadow: Normally, yes but if there are absolutely no other options? Destroy them. Leave nothing for them to even salvage.
Valkyr was a bit shocked at this but then she nodded.
Valkyr: Okay. Now where do we start?
Shadow smiles, then hands her a NavPad, a disposable map made by Tails for one time use, then wiping itself clean.
Shadow: Shen will meet you there. Try not to kill him?
Valkyr nodded.
Shadow: Good. I have elsewhere to be. When you two are done, Shen will send me a signal.
Shadow then took his leave, shutting the front door behind him. Valkyr sat down. Today got a bit interesting.
She was just hoping her immense strength wouldn't cause TOO much destruction…
