Kuri laughed. "I'm not a little girl Tanchan I can handle myself!" She wiped the blood off a scratch the demon gave her.

"Never said you couldn't handle yourself either. You did amazing!" Tanjiro beamed.

Kuri huffed and came closer. "Are you hurt?" She was very tender as she checked him over.

"I think I'm okay. You got scratched though!"

"Hah…" Kuri moved his kimono aside. "You have a scratch on your neck!"

"We should tend to you first!" Tanjiro protested.

"Stop." Kuri put a finger to his lips. "All this flailing is tearing at the wound. Be still."

Tanjiro stopped obediently.

Kuri ran her finger along the wound, sealing it with some salve, then bandaged it. "Don't be so negligent. Your body is wonderful and beautiful." She tightened the bandage. "Take care of yourself Tanjiro!" She smiled. "Cuz someone's waiting for you ne?"

"You're beautiful too. And important. And wonderful. Don't put yourself out." Tanjiro grabbed her hand.

Kuri blushed and looked up at him. "You mean that?"

"Yes I mean that."

Kuri let him go. "Ah…I should go. Not sure where tho. Sis used her crow to immediately tell me she's on a date! That vixen…"

"A date?! Why? I…I gotta get back to my sister…did you want to come with me?"

Kuri perked up excitedly. You have a sister! I bet she's super cute! I wanna meet her! Let's go! Right now! March!" Kuri kicked her feet.

Tanjiro laughed and lead her back.

Kuri reached for Tanjiro s hand, then it fell back as Nezuko ran over. "Ohhh…"

Tanjiro was shocked. "You're awake! Nezuko!" Tanjiro hugged her.

Kuri enveloped them in a hug, along with Urokodaki.

Urokodaki suddenly jumped back in terror. "Wait! Your…Kaori?!"

"No," Tanjiro corrected. "This is Kuri. She wanted to meet Nezuko."

"No…that is…" Urokodaki whispered.

"I'm not Kaori." Kuri snapped. "She's my Grams. I'm nothing like her."

Kuri squished Nezuko, and Nezuko nuzzled her.

"Kuri's not like that." Tanjiro gazed at Kuri. "She's amazing."

Kuri hugged Tanjiro. "I promise I'm not like her. I won't hurt y—"

"I loved her." Urokodaki whispered.

Kuri groaned.

"Um…." Tanjiro awkwardly looked over at his master.

"Never mind," Urokodaki said just as awkwardly. "It's a long embarrassing story."

"I'll bet." Kuri said sardonically, braiding Nezuko's hair.

Tanjiro tried not to laugh.

"So you are the heiress of the priesthood, of sacred breathing, hm? Have you mastered the shi—"

"I won't be using that. Especially on demons as cute as Nezuko." Kuri snapped again.

"Using what exactly?" Tanjiro asked curiously.

"It's a technique for obliterating demons." Urokodaki said.

Tanjiro started. "What?!"

"Yeah." Kuri sighed. "I just…I don't wanna hurt anyone!"

"You…" Tanjiro smiled. "I understand."

Kuri hugged Nezuko. "Your sister is wonderful. Cmon Nezucho let's get to bed!"

"Nezucho?!" Tanjiro walks with them inside, just as the exhaustion hit him. He collapsed.

Kuri caught him. "Rest…" Kuri pulled him into her arms. "It's alright."

"I-I'm sorry…I…you should..be resting too…"

"Shh. It's ok Tanchan." Kuri stroked his hair and sang to him, as Nezuko came in and cuddled up.

Tanjiro slowly fell asleep in her arms, feeling safer and more at home than he had since the demon attack in the mountains. Kuri was truly a remarkable woman.
