AN: SUMMER IS HERE PEOPLE!!!

About a few weeks ago Serenity's teacher sent out a notice informing us of the " Farewell BBQ Movie Party " I'll admit it sounded pretty cool.

It was held on the last day of school, there was great food, entertainment and games to be enjoyed by everyone.

They even had a silent auction and bake sale to help raise money for the school, I was generous enough to donate something for the auction which got quite a few bids ( mostly from dads ) then again who doesn't want a full car tune-up and oil change?

During the BBQ Zoe gave a small speech and wished all her students a fun summer because in the fall our kids won't have her as a teacher. It kinda got to me that Serenity was growing up she's 4 next month and progressing in everything which is no surprise, she got it from Courtney.

Once the daily activities were done and the sun started going down it was time for the movie which was set to show on the grass, everyone brought blankets to sit on to watch the featured film. From what I understand the kids voted on which was going to be shown.

A big inflatable screen was set up and like a theatre, they had a made-up concession stand selling popcorn and other items, which once again was to raise money for the school.

While the others got snacks myself, Trent, Tyler "These look like a good spot " I said looking at the available spaces "Yeah good eye " replies Trent "Perfect" says Tyler as we laid out our blankets.

We got good spots not too close to the screen and not a whole bunch of people blocking our view.

Once set we sat down and waited for the others to return, " so you guys got any major plans for the summer? " asks Tyler smiling "We're going away for a week to Mexico we leave Monday " says Trent excited " Very nice " I replied nodding my head " Lindsey's gotta fashion show in Los Angeles in August so we'll all be heading there " explains Trent.

My eyes open up hearing their vacations and plans, so far I haven't even planned or thought of anything for us. But then again Courtney has her classes, I'll be working and watching Serenity.

" What about you guys? " asks Trent looking at me along with Tyler "Well...uh...we haven't talked about it most likely we'll be winging it, " I said nervously "Hey man don't worry if anything there's always something fun to do " replies Tyler waving to see the girls and kids coming.

" Hey guys we're back " announced Courtney carrying 3 soda bottles and gummy bears while Serenity carried the bucket of popcorn "This thing is like the movies the concession stand is busy," said Gwen carrying 2 buckets of popcorn and Louis carried the bottles of soda, " here babe let me help " offered Trent rushing to aid his pregnant wife.

" Yay popcorn " cheered Mikey and Millie together as they held the bucket together " I got licorice," says Lindsey making her way to Tyler "Yes!!! " he exclaimed making us laugh.

Once Courtney and Serenity got to me they got comfortable, " I wonder what movie we're watching? " asks Courtney opening her gummy bears "No doubt a kid-friendly what I would give to watch a horror film " says Gwen eating her popcorn " I agree " I answered.

" No way I can't handle horror movies," said Tyler concerned "Same makes me jumpy " replies Trent opening and taking the cap of his drink " I mean it wouldn't be too bad I guess," says Courtney calmly.

I grin hearing that answer "Really so you sure you wouldn't get scared...and not scream like when I told that hook story back on TDI " I said recalling that night in the woods "What hook story? " asks Serenity looking up at me " yeah I wanna hear the story " says Mikey " me too " said Louis excited.

Oh boy, what did I get myself into "Sorry guys that story is too scary for you " I explained only to get a look from Courtney while everyone else chuckled.

" Buenas Noches everyone," said Alejandro as he, Miguel and Heather arrive, then set their blanket beside us "Great" I sighed before grabbing some popcorn.

Just then the screen turned on and all the kids started cheering and clapping. Watching Serenity react to the movie starting soon was a cute watch.

Zoe walked in front of the screen " Good evening everyone, thank you for coming and I hope you are all excited for tonight's movie...please enjoy the show " she says before giving the thumbs up to signal the movie.

Serenity sat closer to me and Courtney, making me smile more.

Looking back at the screen we all see the Walt Disney logo show followed by hearing some faint animal noises followed by a lion roaring...

I couldn't help but open my eyes seeing the all-familiar sunrise " The Lion King " I whispered followed by My laughing lightly, " Ssssh " says Courtney...

I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid I can't believe we're all watching this, but then again I didn't hate it...

" Daddy looks at all the animals " whispers Serenity pointing at all the animals " I know it's cool " I answered looking at the screen.

As the opening scene went on followed by the next scene where the villain of the movie appears, as a kid I always thought of Scar as a badass.

Now that I look at him more I slowly shift my eye to Alejandro and can't help but laugh quietly, noticing the similarities...

Well, might as well sit back and enjoy it...

Courtney's POV

7:45 PM

I was so excited watching The Lion King, I can't remember when was the last time I watched it. I couldn't be happier than to be watching it with my daughter and Duncan.

We currently we're watching Simba singing " I can't wait to be king " I couldn't help but point out how mischievous he was along with breaking the rules, kinda reminded me of someone.

As the scene ended and they ended up in the elephant graveyard I felt something grab my arm, when I look it was Serenity looking scared.

" Aw it's okay honey " I whispered smoothing her hair " But it's scary," she says hiding her face in my shoulder "Don't worry," I said as she sat on my lap watching the rest of the scene.

When it came to the part where Simba and Nala were trying to escape from the Hyenas, Serenity covered her eyes and shook, "Oh no " she squeals getting the attention of others but they didn't mind.

I looked over at the others and noticed Mikey standing behind Lindsey scared and Louis seemed to be checking on Serenity looking worried, I gotta admit it was cute.

Suddenly a roar got me out of my thoughts and it was Mufusa taking down the hyenas and giving them one hell of a scare.

" Oh yeah look at him take them down, " says Duncan before seeing Serenity clinging onto me "Glad to see you're enjoying the movie, " I said smirking at him "Guess so...want me to take over? " he asks seeing our daughter shaking from being scared.

8:00 PM

Once Serenity was sitting with Duncan with his arms around her, she enjoyed the movie more especially when we currently watched the scene of a creep-looking lair.

" I gotta pee," said Millie standing up and looking at Tyler "Okay let's go," he says out loud only to get hushed by everyone "Oops sorry," he says once again in a loud voice " I gotta pee too," says Mikey pressing his legs together.

Watching them walk towards the building was interesting because every so often Tyler would either step on something or someone, making it hard not to laugh at what was going on.

Reaching for my gummy bears I eat a few to calm down and then offer some to Serenity but when I heard Duncan clear his throat, he opens his mouth meaning he wanted me to feed him.

Rolling my eyes I grab one from the bag but as I bring my fingers to his lips he tilts his head slightly to the side, lightly gliding his teeth on my fingers along with taking the gummy bear.

" Thank you " he teased along with moving his eyebrows but I couldn't help but blush "You can get your own gummy bear " I whispered before eating more of them.

" Precisely " I hear followed by the song starts...

Alejandro's POV

Even though we missed the events from earlier due to a meeting I had with my agent and Heathers' meeting taking longer than expected, we managed to arrive in time to see the movie.

Miguel had his after-school activities to attend today was his karate lesson, when I picked him up I noticed he was looking a bit sad and not so enthusiastic.

Since we had time to spare I thought what better way to have a father-son discussion than enjoy a burger and French fries? We normally don't eat fast food but on rare occasions.

Once we sat and started eating I asked him " Que paso Mi hijo ( what's wrong my son )? " I started the conversation but when he gave me his answer I froze " Papá, ¿mamá y tú no están contentos? ( Dad, are you and mom not happy?) " he asked before eating a fry?

I was not expecting to hear that response, I guess our son was very observant like myself and Heather. For being so young he was very intelligent.

Taking a breath I explained to Miguel that his mother and I have been having problems lately and that we are trying to solve things, but more importantly, he's very loved by both of us. And that we're going away to Barbados to spend time together, which got him excited.

Before we finished eating I sent Heather a text so that she was aware of what our son asked. When we picked her up she discussed with Miguel letting him know how important he is and that at the moment we were having issues.

Miguel also asked us why is it that we were never like his friends' parents.

I'll admit both Heather and I didn't receive the same affection as the others did, which was hard to explain but Miguel wanted us to be like them.

Taking my eyes away from the screen I look around noticing children and parents all sitting closely together, enjoying the movie.

My eyes eventually landed on the children Miguel normally would play with and each of them either sat between their parents or sat on their lap, enjoying snacks together and pointing at something on the screen.

Turning my attention back to the movie I quite enjoyed this scene of the villain lion singing, it was quite the sight.

" Be prepared "

Miguel laughed a bit "Papa this lion kinda looks like you " he said to me " he looks like a dashing beast " I replied as the scene went on which honestly was quite something, I don't think I watched many children's movies when I was Miguel's age.

I'm really enjoying this scene.

Once my favourite scene ended the next scene was both a thriller and suspense, one moment it was calm now I felt myself getting nervous. And the more I watched the more the suspense was getting to me.

" Wow this is intense " I breathed feeling the music getting louder as the Lion tries to save his cub while the villain watches.

Just when I thought there was hope for both the Lion and the cub to leave unharmed the tragedy happens...

" Long live the king "

A few gasps are heard amongst the crowd including from children after watching the king being tossed into the stampede while the cub yells witnessing his father's demise...

( AN: I'll admit to this day that scene is still shocking )

Suddenly my hand gets grabbed looking to see Miguel he was even holding Heather's hand, for the first time, I'm seeing him scared. Heather also noticed this and we looked at one another for a moment realizing he was scared.

Nodding we move closer together and hold him tight, looking between us he lightly smiles and tightens his grip on us.

" We're here hijo," I said quietly to Miguel along with Heather kissing his head.

Duncan's POV

This scene was both sad and heartbreaking, watching the cub talking to his deceased father got to me.

Hearing light sniffling I look down to see Serenity wiping her eyes "Hey what's wrong? " I asked quietly "The daddy is not waking up " she whimpers watching the movie " I know it's sad but it's also a part of life " I explain comforting her but then she hugs me tight "Promise you to stay with me daddy? " asks Serenity looking at me.

Carefully wiping her tears away I smile " I'll always be with you " I replied hugging her before we continued to watch the rest of the movie...

8:15 PM

We were finally into a more fun and cheerful scene, which currently had everyone laughing and moving to the current song " Hakuna Matata " and I couldn't help but laugh at the warthog.

All the kids started getting grossed out by the countless bugs they were eating...

" Ew "

" Gross "

" Yucky "

Once the insect scene was over the trio was walking but during it, the cub grew up once again getting the kids excited...

Man this movie was something and it's still good after, scar and the hyenas showed up again followed by another scene of the trio, the baboon discovering Simba is still alive then it got interesting.

Now Pumba is getting chased by a lion, and Timon is trying to save him but just when you think they're about to get eaten Simba shows up just in time.

The next thing we know Simba recognizes the lion and it turns out to be his best friend Nala all grown up.

" Oh boy, he's a goner, " I thought to myself…

All of a sudden a romantic scene is showing which no doubt is getting attention.

Looking around I can already see some parents getting a little lovey making me chuckle but when I turn to Courtney she's smiling at the screen while playing with her hair.

I gotta admit this whole setup is kinda romantic, a movie under the stars, summer night, the sky had stars and the atmosphere was fitting...

Seeing Courtney's right hand out I slowly extend my left hand to reach for it, my eyes move to the screen to watch Simba chase Nala through a field with birds coming out...followed by rolling down a hill...and finally I got my hand over hers...

" Can you feel the love tonight "

Courtney's eyes opened up a bit looked at our hands then looked at me...

" You needn't look too far "

Slowly intertwining my fingers with hers I wink making Courtney blush and look away shyly...

" Stealing through the nights

uncertainties, love is where they are "

For the remainder of the movie, we kept our hands linked.

Finally, the movie was getting close to ending it was now down to the truth being revealed and the big fight that would result in Simba being victorious.

9:15 PM

The movie was finally over, everyone cheered and applauded well mostly the kids.

Stretching out a bit I pick up the blanket while Courtney picks up the garbage.

" Alright let's go home," said Courtney smiling as she held Serenity's hand while I walked beside them "Yes please I'm wiped out " I breathed as we made our way to the parking lot.

Once we got to the car it took a while to get out but we survived and just headed home, we had the windows down so that we felt the cool air.

" Today was a lot of fun," says Courtney turning to check on Serenity who was sleeping in her car seat " I agree it was awesome " I answer pulling up to the underground parking, " now it's summer vacation " I add smiling as I parked the car.

While Courtney got Serenity out of her seat I tapped my fingers on the car roof, I was thinking about what Trent said earlier about a vacation. Courtney wouldn't finish til August with the classes she's taking so maybe we could squeeze something in.

" Okay I got her," she says carrying Serenity " Hey babe why don't we go on a vacation together just us three, " I asked closing the car doors but also Courtney was surprised by my question.

" Really? Just us three? " she asks walking up to me "Yeah it would be nice to get away from everything for a week...what do you say? " I asked smiling "Maybe a cottage at a lake or go to a resort in Tofino " I add as we walk to the elevators.

After a short ride in the elevator, we arrived on our floor.

Once we got into the apartment Courtney put Serenity in bed.

I sank into the couch I think with the combination of being in the sun all day, eating and a movie it all got to me.

" Are you okay? " asks Courtney leaning towards me " I'm good just tired " I answered sitting up before bringing Courtney closer to me so that she sits on my lap " Really? Cause it seems like your not tired now " says Courtney caressing my cheek " maybe...or I just might want to feel the love tonight " I replied before standing up while carrying Courtney.

" Did you just quote the song from the movie?" said Courtney trying to keep from laughing "Maybe" I answered as we got into our room but not before I kicked the door shut.
