Author's Note-

Alright then, this is where things should start to feel familiar to long time readers. XD

Just a reminder, this story is basically a hugely expanding remake of the first fanfic I ever finished. The first eight chapters were expanding on what was originally a one chapter long (chapters were pretty short for me back then too) prologue so it was mostly entirely new. From here on we are getting to the events that made up the first half of the original story. Don't worry though! While long time readers may spot similarities to the original, there will be PLENTY of changes and additions to make it feel new. So you won't just be rereading the same story again XD

Anyway, enough out of me. Please enjoy and as always, thanks for reading! 3

-1 Year Later-

Ruby Rose

"I'm really REALLY sorry Weiss." I can NOT believe I did it again! Why am I only ever this uncoordinated at work?! Once again I was serving food to some customers and tripped spilling it all over them.

After Weiss finished apologizing and offering them free food for their trouble she gave me the most intense death glare I've ever seen. It was super unlike her, I mean she gets mad sometimes sure but never that badly.

"I don't care if you're sorry!" she yells angrily. "How many times do I have to tell you to be careful?!" she was pissed and I honestly can't blame her, I am such a klutz. I was fired and I knew it, girlfriend or not. Hell I would be lucky to walk out of here still holding that title.

Then she did something I wouldn't have seen coming in a million years. She pinned me against the wall and her face was so close to mine and a very odd look in her eyes. Wh-What is she doing? I mean we kissed and held hands and stuff but this…this is a little intense. "W-Weiss what are you doing?" I barely managed to stammer out as my face turned beet red.

"Misbehaving employees must be punished" she says in a hushed tone.

"Wh-whoah isn't this a little much? I'm not mentally prepared!" She responds by laying kisses on my neck and occasionally nibbling gently, leaving marks. Right as she reaches for the top button of my shirt I hear a loud ringing sound and next thing I know I am laying on my bedroom floor.

I shake myself out of my tired state and reach over, shutting off my alarm clock. Then as I get up to stretch the memory of what I just dreamed slowly returns and my face starts to heat up. "What the hell was that about!?"

Weiss and I have been dating for a year now but we've never done anything like that before, so why is that stuff even in my head!? Still trying to process all of it I glance at the clock realizing I need to get ready for work. I hurriedly jump in the shower cleaning up as fast as I can and minutes later come out fully dressed for work.

I run through the apartment, stopping only to grab a muffin and say bye to Yang. Once outside I quickly hop onto my bike and ride off as fast as I can. Maybe a little faster than I should partly out of fun partly out of necessity.

I pull into work and head in through the back. "Hey Ruby, what's up?" Jaune was the first person to greet me. I know for a fact that he only started working here with Weiss and I because he knew Pyrrha comes here pretty often and it'd give him a chance to see her all the time. He needs an excuse. I guess what with all of us graduating.

"Nothing much, just had a bit of a...weird morning." I say recalling my dream and trying to suppress a blush. Last thing I need is Jaune finding out and telling Alan who will proceed to use it as ammunition to mess with me. "Anyway, did Pyhrra pay us a visit yet?"

I tried to change the subject. Pyrrha usually comes in after a track meeting, she ended up getting a full scholarship to join Beacon college's track and field team. She came in here pretty often before but honestly I feel like she comes in way more often now, she even comes in the morning to grab a coffee now claiming she just really likes it. Not a great lie, the coffee here is pretty terrible, but Jaune of course buys it hook line and sinker.

They ARE really good friends, always there for each other but it's so obvious to everyone but Jaune that they like each other. Jaune is too nervous to make the first move and Pyrrha seems to think he isn't interested for some crazy reason.

"Yes actually you just missed her." he responds matter of factly as I head to my station at the register next to his.

"Let me guess, you didn't ask her out again?" I ask slightly frustrated.

"No...no I didn't." he says, lowering his head in shame. I keep telling him to just shoot his shot.

"I swear one of these days I am just gonna do it for you." I joke, patting him on the shoulder.

"Please how long did it take for you and Weiss to finally become a couple?" he jokes back and my face heats up again.

"Yeah well at least we actually did!" I smack him on the back. He just laughs and I puff out my cheeks. He doesn't tease me nearly as much as Alan but he still likes to poke fun here and there. As he is wiping tears of laughter from his eyes I hear Weiss calling from the back.

"Ruby, could you please come to my office!" I immediately stiffened up.

"I wonder what that's about." Jaune just shrugs in response. I make my way to the back recalling my dream again as I stop in front of her door. I mean I DID spill fries all over the floor yesterday and the day before that I broke the soda machine, Weiss and I both ended up drenched in grape soda.

I knock gently and immediately hear "Come in." I reach for the doorknob and twist it slowly, opening the door. I carefully ease my way into the room and I see Weiss doing some paperwork. It's kind of crazy that we ended up working here for only six months and in that short time Weiss got promoted to manager.

To be fair it was partly because the previous manager quit and the owner was so impressed with Weiss he promoted her instead of hiring someone else. It's amazing how good she is at her job, especially since this wasn't exactly her first choice.

Originally she was going to work at a clothing store in the mall but when I told her that Dad's friend was going to hook me up with this job she decided she wanted to work here instead. She didn't SAY it was because she wanted to work with me but I can tell. She has her lovey dovey moments but she can still be a bit coy about her feelings, either way it's super cute.

"You needed to see me?" I ask a bit too nervously, my mind snapping back to the moment at hand.

"Yes and you can stop being so tense you're not in trouble." she says without even having to look at me. Am I that obvious? Anyway I calmed down a little after hearing that. "I was just wondering if you were able to work this weekend?" she asks. This weekend huh...Well I was planning to go to the fair with Yang, her girlfriend Blake, Inu and Alan. They wouldn't be too happy if I canceled.

"May I ask why ma'am?" She looked slightly irritated.

"First drop the ma'am stuff, it's fine in front of the others but it's Weiss when it's just us, you're my girlfriend dolt. It just feels too weird for you to call me ma'am."

"R-Right, sorry." I blush and nervously scratch the back of my head. I am still getting used to Weiss being my boss.

"It's fine Ruby, anyway we are going to be a little short handed this weekend because one of our kitchen workers is sick and on top of that Nora and Ren aren't going to be able to make it either since they are finally moving into their own place this weekend."

Well that is an issue... I don't want to leave her hanging if she needs the help. I plaster a smile on my face.

"You can count on me Weiss."

The day actually ended up being pretty busy so Weiss and I were both exhausted at the end of the day and just decided to tiredly head straight home, so no date night. Once I got home I limped inside slumping onto the couch

"Heya sis, how was work?" I hear Yang ask from the kitchen. Yang already cooked a lot when we lived with Dad but ever since we moved out and got our own place, she basically cooks exclusively. I have tried before but I am literally no good at it. I manage to burn toast.

"I have had better days" I yell back. "Anyway listen I have some kinda bad news."

"What is it?" She walks out of the kitchen, drying her hands with a washcloth.

"I won't be able to make the fair this weekend." I wince slightly, expecting her to be more upset but she just seems confused, maybe a little annoyed.

"What do you mean?" Yang asked in a mix of confusion and agitation.

"Weiss...kinda asked me to work this weekend." I start to say as I sit up putting my hands together apologetically "I'm really sorry I know I promised to go but I couldn't just leave Weiss hanging." She just shakes her head sighing before looking over at me and smiling.

"You're too nice for your own good Sis, doesn't help that your boss is your girlfriend." she lightly slugs me in the arm. "It's all good you gotta do what you gotta do." I flash her a wide grin.

"Thanks Yang I knew you'd understand." I stretch back out laying onto the couch.

"Yeah yeah I know I'm great, you owe me one though" she says as she gets up walking back towards the kitchen.

"Anything, just name it!" I say, giving her a look of determination.

"Anything hm?" she thinks about it for a second. "How about you let me and Blake double date with you and Weiss, we haven't really done that yet."

"I mean, I'd have to ask Weiss but I don't think that'll be a problem." I look at her confused. "That seems a bit random though."

"You two have been dating for a year and I haven't really had a chance to evaluate her yet, as your big sister it is my duty to make sure she's worthy."

"Yang, you've known Weiss almost as long as I have." I roll my eyes.

"True and she is a pretty cool friend, that said I haven't evaluated her girlfriend potential yet, that's a whole different thing."

"If you say so." I chuckle and close my eyes to take a small nap. "Do me a favor and let me know when dinner is ready?"

"Sure thing Ruby!"

Weiss Schnee

As soon as I get home I put my coat and bag on the hook before plopping down on my favorite chair in the living room. Today was super rough, we haven't had a day that busy in weeks.

On one hand I am grateful because sales have been so slow that the owner has been really getting on me about it so we could really use the business. On the other hand my feet are killing me! I kick off my shoes and lean back in the chair, going limp.

"Well well, it looks like someone had a busy day." Winter says, sitting down on the couch and letting her hair down. She must have just gotten home herself.

"Yeah, it was a bit much, how was your day?"

"Oh the usual, a mountain of paperwork and demands." she says with a sigh. "However, I did get some really good news."

"Oh really?"

"Indeed, it turns out that I am being promoted to oversee the entire department. It'll be a huge boost in pay and almost as importantly it'll allow me more free time."

"Winter, that's wonderful!" I walk over and hug her. "I can't think of anyone who deserves it more than you!"

"Thank you Sister, that's sweet of you to say." She hugs me back. "Oh, how is Ruby doing lately? I feel like I haven't seen her in awhile."

"Yeah it has been a bit hasn't it? She's fine, could be doing a bit better in her classes but otherwise she's doing okay." Suddenly I remember how I asked her to work this weekend even though I knew she had plans. She's been going on about it for the last couple of weeks after all.

"Is something troubling you?" she asks, I guess I must have let it show on my face.

"It's nothing…I guess I feel kinda bad asking Ruby to work this weekend is all."

"I thought so..I know she's your girlfriend Weiss but you are also the boss and sometimes you are going to have to make tough choices like that."

"I know, I just don't like ruining her plans."

"You really didn't have much choice Weiss, you need people after all."

"Yeah I know.." I put that aside for now and put a smile back on my face. "Anyway I don't want to bring down the mood, why don't I make your favorite dinner to celebrate your promotion?

"A tempting offer, my counter offer is that we just order in and watch a movie."

"Are you sure?"

"I love your cooking Weiss but we are both exhausted, I'd rather just spend a relaxing evening with my sister." How could I not smile right now? It's moments like this that remind me that I have the best big sister anyone could ever ask for.

"Alright then, sounds good to me!" Winter walks into the kitchen to order dinner and I start looking for a movie online. Suddenly I get a message on my phone, it's Ruby asking if I want to go on a date next weekend.

'Hey Weissy! Sooooo you wanna go out next weekend, dinner or something? :3'

'That should be okay, assuming nothing comes up.'

'Awesome! 3…by the way, Yang kinda wants to make it a double date with her and Blake, I hope that's okay!'

That is kind of out of nowhere…I guess that'd be okay.

'Sure, that's fine.'

'Thanks Weissy! xo'

"Message from Ruby?" Winter sits down next to me.

"Yeah, she was asking about a double date with Yang and Blake next weekend, kind of out of nowhere really."

"Oh I see." she says in a very knowing tone.

"What?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Well…I could be wrong but as a big sister myself, I think Yang is planning to scope out your girlfriend abilities, make sure you're good enough for her little sister."

"Y-You're kidding right?" She doesn't give any indication that she is. "Yang has known me just as long as Ruby has though."

"That's different Weiss, it's one thing to be her friend and it's another to be her girlfriend. Frankly I'm surprised it took Yang this long, as doting as she can be."

"Great…" I slouch in my seat.

"Calm down Weiss, you'll be fine, you love Ruby right?"

"You know I do."

"and she loves you?"

"I-I pressume so." I'm getting a little embarrased, I mean I DO love Ruby but even after a year I struggle showing it infront of other people.

"Then there is nothing to worry about."

"I-I guess.." I just hope I can actually show how much I love her…
