September 1st
Harry and Ginny were sitting at the head table along with Dumbledore and other professors. The Hogwarts Express had already arrived at the Hogsmeade students and the students were coming to the great hall. Harry was looking at the entering students when he suddenly saw 3 boys enter the hall. One had a long black hair and was wearing new Gryffindor robes. Another boy had scars on his face, had brown hair and was wearing older and shabbier robes. The 3rd boy was shorter than the other 2 boys. His appearance and face were something Harry would never forget, even if he wanted to. He looked at Ginny and said, "Gin, look at those 3 boys there." Ginny looked and she too realized who those boys were. She said, "Harry, they are Sirius, Remus and Pettigrew." Harry nodded and said, "They look as if they are in their 7th year." Ginny said, "That means your parents would also be here. Weren't they the heads in their 7th year?" Harry nodded. She saw the look on Harry's face. She knew that he was feeling lot of things. She said, "This is great thing Harry. You can finally get to know your parents on your own." Harry nodded and said, "I just never thought that 1977 would be their final year. The thought didn't even come in my brain." Before Ginny could say anything more, they saw the 2 heads arrive. James Potter and Lily Evans entered the hall and went to sit with their friends.
Harry just looked at them, trying to memorize everything about them. His father looked exactly like he was. While everyone always told him that he looked exactly like his dad, he never imagined just how similar they both would look. They had the same face, the same grin and smirk. So many things were same between them. But Harry's eyes, they were exactly like Lily's. The same shade of green. This was the first time he was seeing his parents in real life and he was doing everything to stay seated and not do something embarrassing. For all his life, he had wished that he could hug his parents, talk with them and be with them just once. Now, he had them right in front of him, but he couldn't interact with them in the way he wanted to.
Before he did something embarrassing, the sorting ceremony started. After the sorting ceremony was over, Dumbledore stood up and started speaking. "Welcome to Hogwarts. I know all of you are very hungry and I will not say much right now. Enjoy the wonderful feast made by our house elves." He clapped his hands and food appeared in front of everyone. Sounds of clattering filled the hall as everyone filled their food with the various food items made by the elves. Harry looked at his parents, Sirius and Remus. He noticed the people they sat along with. He also looked for Snape and found him sitting along with other 7th years at the far end of the Slytherin table. If you had asked Harry before the battle what he thought about Snape, he would in no terms tell you he was one of the worst people he had ever met. But after the battle, after he came to know his past and his role as a spy, he began respecting the man. It didn't resolve the man for what he did to him, nor did it make him a better person. But it explained why he was the way he was.
After everyone had their fill of food and drinks, Dumbledore again clapped his hands, vanishing the food. He then started speaking, "I hope you all enjoyed the brilliant feast. With that, I once again welcome you to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Before letting you, all go to our dorms for a well-deserved rest, there are a few announcements that I wish to make. One, the forbidden forest as the name suggests is forbidden. It houses many creatures and plants that are very dangerous and contains certain species that will not like you infringing their territory. Two, the quidditch trials will be held a month later. The Head of the House will talk with the captain and allot the time for the trials. Everyone can apply for the team. And lastly, we have 2 new professors with us. Please welcome Mr. Harry Williams and Ms. Guinevere Taylor as your new DADA professors." An applause came from the students. Harry and Ginny stood up and waved to the students. After that, Dumbledore said, "That's all I had to say to you today. And now, it's time you all head to your dorms from some well-deserved rest. Perfects, please lead the first years to their dorms." With that, the opening feast headed and students began leaving for their dorms while teachers stayed at the head table. After the students had left, Dumbledore said, "Professors, these are the schedules. Please look at them and plan your lessons accordingly." The professors took their lists and left. Dumbledore then said, "Professor Williams and Professor Taylor, Mr. Potter and Miss Evans are the heads for this year. As such, due to their responsibilities as the heads, they may either be late to the class or may not even come to the class in some rare and special cases. In such case, if a proper reason is provided, no action is to be taken. If a proper reason is not given, you can either bring it to either me or professor McGonagall and we will look into it. The reason for that is because both of you are assistant professors. Are there any questions?" They all said no and then went to their quarters for the night.
