Normally this wouldn't drop until next weekend BUT I am so far ahead in this one that I decided to just let you guys have it early to make up for missing a week on Shadow of Remnant (even though I am not sure how much crossover there is between the two series in terms of readers ^^') Anyway, as always, thanks so much for reading and please enjoy! Weiss Schnee
"What proof do you have that Cardin was involved in this assault?" the officer asked, now starting to get on my nerves.
"I told you we got into a fight and he all but swore he would get us back." I said, pinching the bridge of my nose. "I don't know if he's the one who actually hurt Ruby directly or not but I KNOW he was involved somehow."
"Well we can talk to him but I'll be honest I am having a hard time believing that he did this." his partner said, pissing me off.
"Why is that so hard to believe?" I put my hand on my hip and stare daggers at this cop.
"Well he has a spotless record." he says, pushing the limits of my patience. "Not one instance of violence."
"That's only because his victims are too afraid to go to you!" this time it was Ruby yelling. "They know you'll either just turn them away or accuse them of lying, the only reason you are even talking to me is I'm not a Faunus!"
"You might want to watch your tongue, Ms. Rose." One of the Officers says clearly upset by the truth.
"Was that a threat?" I almost get to my feet to confront him but Ruby grabs my hand and pulls me back down. She gives me a look that says 'it's okay.' She's right…as angry as I am it wouldn't accomplish anything.
"I don't see any point in continuing, you're obviously not going to do anything." Ruby says, looking away from them. "I'm done talking so you may as well leave."
"Very well." he heads for the door and signals his partner to follow. Before leaving he turns and tips his hat. "Have a nice day."
"Useless morons." I say grabbing a hold of Ruby's hand. It's been awhile since I was this angry.
"I can't believe he is going to get away with it." She says shaking a bit probably out of anger.
"Don't worry he will get his." I say turning her head gently towards me. "One way or another he will, I promise."
"If you say so Weiss." she says before laying back on her bed.
"Trust me." I say kissing her forehead.
"I do trust you." she says smiling.
"Good, now why don't you get some rest." She hesitates at first. "Don't worry I am not going anywhere."
"Okay..I love you Weiss." she says, closing her eyes.
"I love you too Ruby." I pull her blanket up over her and before long she is asleep.
Once I am sure she is out I leave a note telling her I will be back soon. I walk outside and call a taxi to take me to campus. Once there I start patrolling around trying to find that asshole.
"Weiss, what are you doing here?" I hear a soft familiar voice ask. I turn around to see Velvet. "You don't have class today."
"I am looking for Cardin." I say looking around.
"Why are you looking for him?" she asked with a mixture of surprise and confusion.
"Ruby was attacked, I am certain he had SOMETHING to do with it." I say. "She was hit in the head so hard that she was unconscious until just a few hours ago, not to mention stabbed in the shoulder."
"Thats…thats awful!" she says between gritted teeth. I didn't know Velvet could get angry. "That bastard, it wouldn't surprise me!"
"She is mostly fine now though so don't worry." I say realizing I should have broken the news to her more sensitively. I was just frustrated.
"That's good to hear at least." she says letting out a sigh. "Listen, I know where you can find him."
"Where?!" I ask eager to make him spill everything.
"He is in business class right now." she says quietly. "Afterwards he usually goes to the basketball court to shoot hoops and the best part is he is usually alone."
"Thanks Velvet your the best." I say hugging her.
"If that bastard actually had anything to do with what happened to Ruby, make sure he pays for it."
"Oh don't you worry your pretty little head about that." I say curling my fingers into a fist. "He is gonna pay."
"Here, I know it's not exactly a kendo sword but it should help." she hands me the baseball bat she was carrying around, she must have been coming back from practice or something.
"Thanks..I guess I did kinda rush here without my sword." I took it from her. The weight distribution is nowhere near as even for obvious reasons but it should do.
"Good luck Weiss."
"Thanks Velvet, you're a good friend." I turn and make my way to the basketball court.
Ruby Rose
I groggily sit up and stretch, letting out a big yawn. I look around and notice Weiss isn't here. I see a note out of the corner of my eye resting on the bedside table. I pick it up and see that it reads 'Ruby don't worry I will be back, I have some business to take care of, I love you.'
I lay it back down wondering what business she could be talking about.
"Hey sweetie." I turn to see my dad entering the room. "How are you feeling?"
"I could be better." I say only slightly honestly. "The cops aren't going to do anything."
"Son of a bitch." he says, sounding very upset and collapsing into the chair next to my bed. "I thought this might happen, I have heard of the Winchesters and they have a lot of pull around here because of their god damn money."
"Don't worry about it Daddy." I say putting my hand on his comfortingly. "I have pretty much gotten over it already thanks to Weiss."
"I have always liked that girl." he says half smiling. "As your father though I would love to just beat that boy into a pulp."
"Speaking of which...maybe we shouldn't tell Yang for now." I say nervously.
"Yeah..I hear you, we wouldn't want your big sister going to jail for murder." He says chuckling slightly. "Where did Weiss go anyway?"
"I'm not sure." I answer, picking up the note. "She says she'll be back but she has some business to take care of."
"Oh I see." he says with a sly grin on his face.
"What?" I ask, now curious.
"Oh don't worry I have a feeling you will find out." he says standing up. "Is there anything you need?"
"Actually if you wouldn't mind going to mine and Yang's apartment and getting my laptop I would really appreciate it." I say smiling.
"No problem, I will just have to borrow your sister's key." He says kneeling down and kissing my cheek. "Love you."
"Love you too Daddy." I say waving bye as he leaves the room.
Weiss Schnee
I spent nearly an hour waiting at the basketball court. I was beginning to think that maybe he wouldn't show up but finally I saw his stupid mug walking in holding nothing but a basketball.
It doesn't take long before he spots me and a look of anger spreads over his face.
"What the hell are you doing here?" he says as his angry face contorts into a gross smirk, probably because of the noticeable anger on my face. "I heard about you and your little girlfriend, how is she by the way?" he asks smugly.
"You know damn well how she is doing." I point at him accusingly. "I don't know if you did the deed yourself or you paid someone to do it, but I know you had something to do with it!"
"I don't know what you're talking about." he says smirking and shrugging.
"Thanks to you she was nearly put into a coma...I was so scared that she wouldn't wake up." I look down trying not to cry. "I had to watch helplessly not knowing if the woman I love would ever open her eyes again." I look up at him with the most intense death glare I could muster.
"Like I give a damn." he says, thrown back a bit. "Besides it has fuck all to do with me."
"Like hell it does!" I grip the bat with both hands. I think he is just now noticing it because he seems a little less smug.
"You can't prove anything and besides, if you lay a finger on me I'll tell my father!" He says, backing up a little. "He'll have you thrown in jail!"
"I couldn't care less about you or your father." I take a step closer to him. "I may end up in jail but you'll be in the hospital just like her!"
"Y-You're bluffing.."
"Am I?" I give him a cocky smirk of my own. What am I about to do next makes me sick but it's the best option I have. "Besides I am a Schnee, you think your family has influence? I could do whatever I want to you and my family could cover it up tomorrow with a phone call!"
"What...do you want?" he asks, slowly realizing I am not bluffing. Well..mostly anyway, obviously my name means nothing these days but he doesn't know that.
"I want you to admit you had something to do with what happened to Ruby!"
"Fine." He groans angrily.
"Say it clearly!" I narrow my eyes and press the record button on my phone.
"I hired a guy to attack your stupid girlfriend alright!" he screams, clearly growing more frustrated.
"Who did you hire?"
"Some freak named Adam Taurus, he wasn't supposed to try and kill her though, just rough her up a little!"
"That's all I need." I stopped the recording. "You are going down for this Cardin, you and this Adam person."
"Look I'm sorry okay, it wasn't supposed to go this far!" he says, clearly desperate.
"Save it, you are just lucky I'm not beating you down right here for what you did to her." I turn and walk away. I guess in one last effort to try and save his skin, he rushes me. I'm not sure what he thought he was going to accomplish but I quickly turned and swung the bat directly into his knee.
He falls to the ground, yelling and cursing from the pain. "You bitch!"
"You just can't help yourself can you?" I step on his hand. "If anything happens before I can give this evidence to the cops, I'll take matters into my own hands, GOT IT!"
He glares at me and grits his teeth but he nods.
"Good now I have to get back to Ruby" I say, turning and finally walking away.
Ruby Rose
I was just laying back and checking my email on my laptop and talking to my dad when I heard the door open and I turned to see that it was Weiss. "Hey Weiss!" I say a bit too loudly before I remember that I am in a hospital.
"Quiet dolt people are trying to sleep." she scolds me before taking her spot next to me on the other side of the bed.
"Sorry." I say nervously. "So where were you?"
"Let's just say that Cardin won't be a problem anymore." she says, smirking.
"What did you do?" I ask, concerned.
"I got the evidence we need to put him away, him and the guy who actually attacked you." she says firmly. "They won't hurt you or anyone else again."
"Weiss...I am glad that Cardin is going to get what is coming to him but...what if you had been hurt?" I ask, trying not to sound angry because I wasn't. Just...worried I guess.
"I can handle myself Ruby, besides Cardin could never take me in a fight." she responds confidently.
"Not a fair one no but what if he got the jump on you like he did me?!" I say kind of loudly. "What if he had a gun or something?!"
"Ruby.." she starts to say but I cut her off.
"You can't just go and do stuff like that on your own!" I yell tears forming a bit in my eyes. "Do you have any Idea how much it would kill me if you had been hurt or worse because you were defending me!" My dad gets up and leaves the room and there is a bit of a silence before she speaks up again.
"I'm sorry Ruby..I just couldn't stand letting him get away with everything he has done." she says looking down at the floor. "Especially what he did to you.."
"Weiss..." I say realizing I probably hurt her feelings a lot. "It's okay I'm not mad it's just...imagine how you felt when I got hurt."
"It felt like my heart had been ripped out...then it was just a prolonged numbness." she says looking up at me and I see she had started crying a bit.
"That's how I would feel if something had happened to you Weiss." I say putting my hand on her cheek. She puts her hand over mine.
"I'm sorry...I won't stop defending you but I won't be so rash about it next time." she says leaning forward and kissing me. I kiss her back before smiling.
"I guess that's the most I can ask for." I lay my arm down on the bed and Weiss holds my hand. Suddenly we hear a loud cough and we turn to see that my dad is standing in the doorway. Weiss' face turns as red as I imagine mine is.
"Well now that your girlfriend is here to look after you I have to get going, my flight is leaving in about 2 hours and I have to get to the airport early." he says leaning down and hugging me.
"Thanks for coming Daddy" I say, kissing his cheek. "I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too sweetie." he says looking over at Weiss. "Bye Weiss take good care of my daughter."
"You can bet on it." she says and I kiss her cheek causing her to blush. I can't help but giggle.
With one last goodbye my dad walks out of the room. Me and Weiss just sat and talked for a bit before night rolled around.
"Hey Weiss?" I ask, starting to nod off.
"Yes Ruby?" she asks.
"Do you think..you could lay in bed with me tonight?" I ask, blushing. Her face turns red and she doesn't seem to know how to respond at first. Eventually, without saying a word, she just motions for me to scoot over and she lays down beside me.
"Thanks Weiss.." I say, pulling the covers over us and closing my eyes. "What do you say when I get out tomorrow that we go on a date?"
"That sounds great Ruby." she says, yawning. "I have to talk to the police first but after that, we can do whatever you want."
"Awesome...I Love you Weiss." I say slowly starting to fall asleep.
"I love you too Ruby." Before long I am out cold and having sweet dreams of what tomorrow might bring.
