Author's Note:
I'm so far ahead that I decided that, alongside Shadow of Remnant Vol.3 Ch.4, I'd post two more chapters of Story of a Whiterose this week too! So expect Ch.17 to go up in the next couple of days and like I said you are also still getting Shadow of Remnant Vol.3 Ch.4!
This is at least partially because I'm just so excited for Ch.18 that I wanted to make sure I could post it next weekend! XD
Anyway, enough out of me. As always, please enjoy and thank you so so much for reading! ^^
Weiss Schnee
For the first time in over a year I woke up in my old room. We got there pretty late last night so we just went to our rooms to get some shut eye. Ruby was offered a guest room but to my relief and honestly no surprise she opted to sleep with me in my old room with me.
This is the one place in this god forsaken mansion I remember fondly because it's where me and Winter would play as kids. She'd sneak into my room at night so we wouldn't get caught performing the forbidden act of 'behaving childishly'. Of course Klein knew but he kept our secret.
Whitley would even join us from time to time, at least until Father started to sink his claws into him. Once Father realized he had little hope of turning Winter into a successor he moved onto me and while he hadn't completely given up on me yet, he started molding Whitley as soon as possible as a backup.
It didn't happen right away but slowly, Whitley started avoiding me and Winter. Reluctantly at first but over time it was like he wanted little to do with us and unsurprisingly I haven't spoken to him at all since I moved away. It didn't used to bother me all that much but lately…I don't know.
I sigh and look to the other side of the bed expecting to see Ruby but when she wasn't there I half panicked for a second. When I hear the faint sound of water running from my bathroom and the soothing sound of her voice humming, I calm down. She comes out of the bathroom fully dressed and using a towel to finish drying her hair.
"Oh, good morning Weiss, how are you feeling?" she asks, sitting down next to me.
"Not too great." I answer honestly. "I just…didn't expect to be back here any time soon is all."
"I know but remember I'm here for you." she says, sitting behind me and wrapping her arms around my neck.
"Trust me I know, if it weren't for that I don't think I'd have even come to be honest." I got up reluctantly and headed for the bathroom to get myself cleaned up.
Afterward, Ruby and I decided to take a walk through the garden, to pass the time. We were going to watch a movie tonight with Blake, Yang, Klein and Winter but that wasn't for a long while. Honestly we would've loved to go out and do something but until we are sure it's safe we have been advised not to leave the manor grounds.
No matter, the garden is lovely after all. It was the only part of the mansion that the head butler, Klein, was given total authority over and he tends to it whenever he gets the chance. He says that, aside from us Schnee siblings, it's his pride and joy.
We take a seat on a bench surrounded by flowers and take the opportunity to relax with a drink.
"Y'know I've never really been into stuff like this." Ruby smiles and takes a sip of her drink.
"Yeah, I'm sure you'd rather be gaming or taking a ride on Whiterose." I giggle.
"Normally yeah…but when it's with you, I'm happy no matter what we are doing." She lays her head on my shoulder. She can be so unbelievably adorable sometimes.
"I'm the same way, strangely enough I can even enjoy myself in this place, so long as you're with me." I grab her hand.
"Well well sister, how wonderful to see you." Ruby and I are both suddenly greeted by the sight of my younger Brother Whitley. I figured we'd bump into him sooner or later but I was hoping for as late as possible.
"Hello Whitley." I roll my eyes.
"Well that was certainly a lovely way to greet your dear Brother after all this time." He turns to look at Ruby. "Aren't you going to introduce me?"
"Very well…" I stand up and gesture to Ruby. "This is my girlfriend Ruby Rose. Ruby this is my Brother Whitley."
"It's great to meet you." Ruby quickly stands up herself and offers Whitley her hand which, to my great lack of surprise, he refuses.
"Indeed…so this is one the 'friends' you decided was worth defying Father over?"
"What do you care Whitley?" I put my hand on my hip.
"It's not that I care, it's just a shame you decided to throw away your family is all." he crosses his arms. "Works out for me anyway, now I will be the one to inherit the company."
"First, family? That's a good one and second, I couldn't care less about the stupid company anymore, Whitley." We never did get along but we weren't usually at eachothers throats this quickly. He got what he wanted, I can't fathom why he feels it necessary to taunt me as well.
"Maybe it's best if everyone calms down a little-"
"You stay out of this." he says in a snarky tone, shooting her an awful look. She flinches a little and I step in front of her.
"Don't speak to her that way, ever."
"I'll speak however I want, or did you forget that you are merely guests here?"
"Trust me, I know, it's all I've ever felt like I was in this place. Be that as it may, you will show her respect or I'll just have to act like an older sister."
"First time for everything isn't there?"
"What did you say?"
"Weiss, maybe-" she puts her hand on my shoulder but I shake it off.
"Listen Whitley, I don't really know what your problem is with ME but that doesn't really matter-!"
"How I felt has never mattered to you, has it!?"
"AHEM!"
We all turn and see Klein. Looking very concerned but with a stern side as well.
"Master Whitley that is quite enough, you have lessons to get to or your Father will be upset."
"Fine…" he quickly turns away and storms off in a huff. He keeps his face down the whole time, almost like he is trying to keep me from seeing his face.
"Now Weiss, I know Whitley can be a handful but you are his elder sister, you should be more composed than that." he says once he is sure Whitley is out of earshot.
"I-!" I start to argue but when I see the stern look on his face I just sigh and brush the bangs out of my face. "I know…I just wish I knew why he hates me so much."
"I'm sure that's not true Weiss." Ruby puts her hand on my shoulder and unlike before I put my hand over hers. I feel bad for shaking her off before, I know she was just trying to diffuse the situation…
"Miss Rose is right, your Brother doesn't hate you Weiss."
"Then why does he treat me like he wants nothing to do with me?"
"He is still rather young Weiss. A young man who, from his perspective, was abandoned by his older sisters."
"Winter and I didn't abandon him."
"I didn't say you did but that's how he sees it."
"But…"
"I know that you both had to leave Weiss, for your own good but…keep in mind that meant Whitley had to be alone with Jacque. Willow being in the state she is in…well she wasn't exactly of much help."
"I..I never thought of it that way."
"Just give him some time Weiss and when he's had a chance to cool off…just talk to him."
"He's right Weiss, he might be mad but he is your Brother, I'm sure you two can work it out."
"Y-Yeah, I guess so…"
"With that settled, I actually came to tell you that Jacque has requested you and Winter go and speak with him." I let out an annoyed sigh.
"I'm assuming refusing isn't much of an option?"
"I'm afraid not." he says with a sympathetic tone. "Winter is already waiting for you outside his office."
"Alright then, I'll head over there now, could you escort Ruby back to my room?"
"You don't want me to come?"
"It's not that I don't want you to, it's just..it'd probably be better if you didn't this time."
"Are you sure?" she puts her hand on my cheek and I nestle into it before clasping my hand on hers.
"Yeah…Winter and I need to do this on our own this time but I'll tell you all about it when it's over."
"Okay...if you say so, but call me if you need me okay?" She leans down a little and kisses me. I actually didn't notice that Ruby actually grew a bit taller than me since we first met. Not by much but still..
"I will, don't worry." With that, Klein leads her off toward my room and I take a deep breath. This isn't going to be fun but I guess it had to happen sooner or later.
Ruby Rose
I really am worried about Weiss but she insisted that it was best I not come along. I just hope everything turns out okay. I wonder what in the world her dad could possibly want to talk about. I figured everything he needed to say would've been said when Weiss left for good.
"I assure you Miss Rose, it may not be a pleasant conversation, but I'm sure Weiss will be alright." Klein tries to reassure me. He must have been able to read me pretty easily.
"Thanks Klein." I smile at him. "By the way, you can just call me Ruby."
"As you wish Ruby." he suddenly stops outside Weiss' room. "Here we are, now don't be afraid to give me a ring if you need anything."
"I'll be fine, thank you though." I wave goodbye and enter Weiss' room. As soon as I close the door I hear an unfamiliar voice from behind me.
"Oh hello." I turn and see a beautiful older woman in nice clothes. Her hair is the same snowy white as all the Schnee siblings and she has a glass of wine in her hand. "I was kind of hoping Weiss would be with you."
"H-Hi, sorry if I'm bothering you. Weiss just said I could wait in here while she and Winter went to talk to their Dad."
"Oh it's quite alright, I'm sure she just wanted to spare you an interaction with Jacque…besides it gets kind of lonely sitting alone in here." She smiles at me. It doesn't take more than a few seconds for me to see just how sad the smile is. "My name is Willow Schnee, Weiss' Mother, you must be one of the friends Weiss brought with her."
"Well uh…girlfriend actually but yeah."
"Is that right?" She seems a bit surprised but not in a bad way. "I didn't know Weiss liked girls…I do apologize."
"Th-Thats okay." It's a little odd that she doesn't know that, being her Mom and all. Then again after what Weiss told me, I guess it makes sense she wouldn't know that much about Weiss.
"Either way it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Same to you." I smile at her, trying my best to not make this interaction too awkward. "It is nice to finally know what you look like at least."
"I presume Weiss doesn't exactly have a lot of family photos to show off." she twirls the wine in her glass, looking at it with possibly the saddest eyes I have ever seen. They are contenders at least. "I also presume she hasn't said much about me either."
"Weiss has told me a little about you. I don't really know that much though."
"Weiss…doesn't particularly want much to do with me anymore, so it's not too surprising." She takes a sip of wine. "Not that I blame her."
"What do you mean?" I ask, growing more sad but also more curious the more I talk to her.
"Weiss and the other children have..had a bit of a rough go of things." she says. "Sure they always had most of their needs taken care of. If it could be bought with money then it was no issue."
She sits down across from me.
"They always had food, clothes, new toys, their physical health was well looked after but…well I know you haven't met their Father but he isn't exactly a loving man."
"Yeah, I'd say that's putting it mildly based on what I've heard." She smiles a bit at my blunt honesty before returning to a frown.
"Yes..he has never shown myself or even worse his own children an ounce of genuine love or affection. We've always been tools for his own desires, things to be used and discarded when we've exceeded our usefulness."
"I'm so sorry.."
"I don't deserve any pity truthfully…you see, early on I did my best to make them feel loved. I went to all of their events, threw lovely birthday parties, I spent time with them and told them daily how much I loved them but.." she sighs and takes another sip of wine. "It wasn't long after the incident, when Jacque began to really show his true self more than ever before, I…shut down."
She gets up and walks over to a nearby window, looking outside at the night sky before downing the rest of the wine.
"I started drinking and distancing myself from the kids, in a way I almost hated being around them because they reminded me of him, of my ties to him." There is a slight whimper in her voice now. "I know that is an awful thing for a Mother to say and I hate myself for it…I wish I could go back and try again, do it right this time but I can't."
"Maybe not." I walk over and stand next to her. "You can't change the past but…you can always be there for them now."
"I think it might be too late for that, at this point the only thing I can do for them is do my best to reign their Father in when I can."
"That's not true…" I put my hand on her shoulder. "Weiss is angry, sure but…I honestly believe that if you reached out and tried to make things right, it'd make her happy."
"I don't know…"
"Trust me, it's worth a try." I lean forward and try to look at her face. I can see that she isn't quite crying but she definitely wants to. "Do you really want to be distant with your Daughter for the rest of your life?"
"I…" she sighs and reaches for the wine bottle but at the last second pulls her hand away. "I suppose..it's worth a try." She turns to face me and offers a faint smile. "Thank you."
"Hey, I love Weiss too, I want what is best for her." I smile at her.
"Well, if nothing else, it is good to see that Weiss found someone who genuinely cares for her." I can see small tears start forming in the corners of her eyes. "I was always a little worried she'd repeat my mistakes but I guess she has a much better head on her shoulders…I'm glad I convinced Jacque to let her leave back then. It clearly did her plenty of good."
I was half tempted to hug her, in fact I almost did but then I spotted what looked like a weird red dot on her forehead. It only takes me a split second to realize what it is so I grab her and pull her to the ground. I didn't have even a millisecond more to spare because as soon as I did, a bullet shattered the glass of the window and wizzed right past.
A second later we hear glass shattering in the room next door.
Weiss Schnee
"Father, Weiss and I are here." Winter says, her face remaining rigid and emotionless. I can imagine this is as difficult for her as it is for me.
"Very good" He puts down his pen and looks up at us, linking his fingers together and resting his chin on them.
"Weiss, how good to see you." he says with a fair bit of venom. "How have you been since you abandoned your privileged life and promising career to go to live in some middle of nowhere town and attend some shabby college."
"Better than I ever could have hoped to be." I say, refusing to let him get to me.
"You know I always regretted letting you go to that high-school ever since you have been nothing but defiant." he says, staring daggers at Winter and Me. "Your equally defiant sister and ruffian friends being little help in that regard I'm sure."
"My friends and my sister have done nothing but make me realize that I am more than just your daughter and that my name didn't have to define who I was, that's why I refuse to come back." I retort, unable to stop all the anger from coming through in my words. "I refused to let you ruin the life I made like you did with everything else."
"How dare you speak to me like that!" he says standing up and actually raising his voice.
"No Father, how dare you speak ill of my sister and my friends."
"Weiss…"
"No Winter, I can't do this!" I drop the facade. "I refuse to practically beg my own Father to not throw me the wolves."
I turn back to him. "If you want something from me then spit it out!"
"Straight to the chase then, very well, what I want from you my dear daughter is obedience." he says sitting back down.
"Could you be more specific?" I roll my eyes and put my hand on my hip.
"Gladly." he says smirking and moving a stack of papers to the edge of his desk. "You will sign this contract and I will forget all your transgressions like the forgiving Father I am."
My hands began to ball into fists.
"The terms of the contract state that you will drop out of college and begin your singing career again, seeing as how the title of heir has already been passed to Whitley. It also states that you will never disobey me again and that you will sever all ties with those degenerates you call friends." He sits back in his chair. "That includes that Rose girl you brought with you, do that and you will be welcomed back. I'll even allow them to stay here until the danger passes but after that you will say goodbye to them forever. Otherwise you will be escorted off the premises tonight."
"You can't be serious?" I look at him even more stunned. "Haven't you done enough to mess with my life?"
"You either sign it or not only will you be kicked out but I will do everything in my power to ensure you come to your senses." he says holding out a pen. "I've given your leash more than enough slack, it's time I tighten my grip."
"Father that is…can't you reconsider?" Winter steps forward in my defense. "What if I return home? I'll do anything you ask if you just let Weiss off the hook."
"Unfortunately daughter you have little to offer me at this point." he waves her off. "It is far too late for you but Weiss can still be redeemed, she can still be useful."
I appreciate her trying but I wouldn't let her put herself on the line like that anyway. What am I supposed to do though? I thought for sure that I was free of him. Now he is trying to reign me in again. Turn me back into an obedient puppet.
If I refuse Ruby and everyone else close to me may be in danger. Not just from Adam but from my Father's ruthlessness. He'll do everything he can to make our lives harder.
I walk toward him and for a second I look at the contract on his desk. For a Moment or two I considered signing it. Even if it meant I had to say goodbye to Ruby, at least she'd be safe and she wouldn't have to deal with the consequences of staying with me.
Those thoughts don't last very long though before I look up and see his vile smirking face. Suddenly all the anger and pain that I've had stored up for years comes rushing forward.
"To hell with you and your contract." Is all I say before reaching out and slapping him. I pick up the contract and rip it to shreds, throwing it back in his face.
"H-How dare you-!"
"How dare me!?" I shout louder than I think I've ever shouted in my life. "All my life you have treated me like nothing but a tool to be used...you have never been there for me or acted like a real Father and yet you expect me to respect you...you have done so much to ruin my life!"
"I was only allowed to have friends that you personally approved of, you wouldn't even let me and Winter have fun. We had to sneak around just so we could act like real sisters, you hit me whenever I dared disobey you!"
I decided I'd let out everything I didn't before. I want to make it clear to this man that I am done with him and I want him out of my life forever!
"When I needed a Father more than ever, the night I was kidnapped and my friend was murdered, you made me feel like it was all my fault." I can feel the tears pouring from my eyes at this point.
"I woke with night terrors for years, and now your trying to take me away from the happiest life I have ever known, from my friends, from my job, from my school, and most of all the love of my life!" I knock everything off his desk. "How dare me?! No, how dare you!?"
To say he was stunned would be putting it lightly. He just stared at me like some kind of terrifying anomaly. I turned around in a huff and stormed out of the room, having vented everything I had kept inside all this time. Winter followed behind me, I guess having nothing more to say to him.
"Goodbye forever Father" I said before slamming the door shut behind us.
"Weiss, are you okay?" Winter asks and after a few more Moments of silence I start crying but this time with a smile. I cling onto Winter tightly.
"I have always wanted to do that." I say between sniffles
Before I even get the chance to calm down I hear the sound of a gunshot in the distance. In the direction of the west wing, in the direction of…my room!
"Ruby!" I start to run off toward my room but Winter grabs me by the wrist. "Let go, I have to make sure Ruby is okay!"
"I understand Weiss but let's at least take this." She hands me a fairly powerful looking taser. "It's better than nothing, especially since you don't have your sword."
"Th-Thanks Winter." I hugged her.
"Just be careful, I'll alert the staff and get the mansion on lock down."
"Right." I nod and the sound of a second gunshot fills me with even more urgency. I run off toward my room as fast as I can.
A few minutes later I am forced to duck behind a corner at the sight of an armed goon. He is pointing a gun and yelling at someone.
"Tell me where Weiss Schnee and Ruby Rose are brat!"
"I told you I don't know, I haven't seen them in awhile!" I hear a familiar but panicked voice shout. I peer around the corner and my fears are confirmed when I see that it's Whitley. His tutor is lying on the ground next to him, hopefully just unconscious.
"Don't give me that crap, tell me where they are or I'll shoot!" he points the gun right at Whitleys face.
I sneak to the other side of the hall as quickly and quietly as I can. Whitley seems to spot me but does his best to not give me away.
"That's it, you have until the count of five to tell me where they are! One!" he presses the gun even closer to his head. "Two!"
"I told you I don't know!"
"Three!"
"Please stop!"
"Four!"
Before he can reach five I finally sneak up right behind him and press the taser to his neck, sending a power shock throughout his body and knocking him almost immediately unconscious. I breathe a sigh of relief and I'm about to ask Whitley if he is okay but before I can he is already hugging me.
"Whitley?"
"I was terrified Weiss, that man…he was really going to shoot me."
"Yeah..it's okay now though, you're safe." I hugged him back.
"Thank you…"
"You don't have to thank me, Whitley, I'm your big sister." I gently pat him on the back. "I'm glad you're okay but I have to find Ruby okay?"
"Y-Yeah okay." he slowly pulls out of the hug.
"There weren't any goons the way I just came so head back that way and find Winter, she and the staff will keep you safe."
"R-Right." He wipes his eyes and leans down, picking up his tutor and throwing his arm over his shoulder. "I'll take him with me, get him some help."
"Good thinking little Brother." I smile at him. "Be safe okay?"
"Yeah." he walks off in the direction I cam from. "Oh, Weiss?...I hope you find your girlfriend safe."
"Thanks Whitley…" Maybe he really isn't so bad. "Now get going."
I continue making my way towards my room. Adam must not have brought nearly as many people with him as I originally thought because I have yet to bump into a single other person besides the occasional wait staff. Maybe that was the idea, to make us think he brought a bunch of men so we scattered all over the mansion trying to find them all.
Finally I make it to my room and as soon as I do I spot a familiar set of cat ears and big blonde hair running toward me.
"Weiss, thank goodness we found you!" Blake says between panting. "One of the staff told us what was going on."
"As soon as we heard we headed straight for your room." She looks around. "Where is Ruby?"
"I haven't seen her in a bit, I actually came here looking for her."
I quietly sneak a look inside my room. When I do, I see Ruby and my Mom tied to some chairs in the center of the room. I signal for the others to be quiet and when I don't spot anyone else, we quickly head inside.
"MHMDMS!" As soon as they spot us both Ruby and Mom try to shout through the cloth covering their mouths. I take that as a bad sign but before I can react I hear the sound of a gunshot and a bullet whizzed past me.
It nearly hits me but luckily just grazes my shoulder. Still hurts like crazy though.
"Ah ah ah, not another step, Schnee." Out of the shadows steps Adam, holding a handgun pointed directly at us.
"Adam…I heard you were involved but to think you'd fallen so low." Blake speaks up.
"Oh well I didn't expect to see you here, what a pleasant surprise."
"You know this guy?" Yang asks.
"Let's just say we have…history." We all immediately catch on to what she is talking about.
"Yup, guess she didn't hear I was in town, otherwise she might've run off again."
"Blake?" Yang looks to her concerned.
"You better be careful Blondey, or she'll run off on you too." That pisses her off.
"Don't talk about her like that!"
"Yang, it's okay, don't let him get to you." Blake is clearly touched but realizes the urgency of the situation. Especially knowing how hot headed Yang can be.
"This is a waste of time Adam, I'm the one who gave your information to the police okay, it's me you want!" I try to talk him down and he just chuckles.
"You might be priority one sure but I figure, while I'm here, I can tie up any loose ends and pay back everyone who has ever screwed me over all at once."
I look over and I notice that she is slightly nudging herself forward. Trying not to alert Adam to her movements. I quickly move my attention back to him so I don't give her away. I'm not entirely sure what she is up to but I trust her.
"Life hasn't exactly been fair to you Adam, we get it, but a lot of what happened to you was very much self inflicted because you let your hatred drive you to hurt people for your own gain." Blake gestures to the current situation as if to say 'Case in point!'
"You can say whatever you like Blake, but I'm about to take care of most of my problems all in one night." He points his gun at Blake and Yang steps in front of her. "How touching, you found another sucker."
Ruby finally managed to move herself forward enough that she was practically right behind him. In a very risky move, she launches herself forward at him, surprising him and knocking him off his balance.
He nearly falls on his face but catches himself just in time. Unfortunately for him, it gave me just enough time to close the distance between us and I pressed the taser to his neck and gave him a good shock.
After it looks like he is knocked out and the tension in the room slowly fades, I kick his gun to the side and I rush over and untie my Mom and Ruby, who immediately throws her arms around me.
"Weiss, I'm so happy you're okay." she says between sobs.
"I should be saying that about you dolt." I say between sobs of my own. "When I heard the gunshots I was so scared."
We pull apart just enough to press our foreheads together. Yang and Blake both run over and throw their arms around us too.
"You really had me worried sick there little sis." Yang says with a sniffle, trying to hold back tears.
"I was plenty worried myself..I thought for sure he was going to shoot you guys."
Suddenly I hear the sound of a gun being cocked and I turn quickly to see Adam, barely conscious, pointing another handgun at us. He must have kept that hidden because I definitely didn't see it before I used the taser on him.
In an instant, that night flashes before my eyes and I want nothing more than to make sure that this doesn't end the same way. Realizing that I don't have time to grab the gun or stop him from shooting in any way, I instead quickly go to shield Ruby with my body, hoping that will be enough to stop the bullet from hitting her.
Instead of the sound of a gun firing though, instead we hear the sound of glass shattering an liquid splashing on the floor. I shakily turn and see that Adam is unconscious on the floor and standing over him is Mom. Holding a busted wine bottle and panting heavily.
"Mom…?"
"By the time I noticed he had another gun, this was the only thing I could do." she rushes over and hugs me tightly. "I'm just so happy you're not hurt."
I'm taken back at first. I thought…part of me thought Mom just didn't care about me anymore but what she just did…
"Th-Thank you Mom." I hug her back and start to tear up a little.
"Don't thank me." she pulls away and brushes the bangs out of my face. "This is the least I could do…for so many years I wasn't there for you when I should have been. Instead of being a Mother I let myself sink into the bottom of a bottle and shut you all out…I'm so sorry."
"Mom…" I do something I haven't done in years and pull my Mom into a hug. Letting her cry into my shoulder. To my surprise, Ruby joins in on the hug. I'm glad she did because I really needed it.
"I'm sorry…I'm sorry…I'm sorry." Mom just keeps repeating over and over. We stay like that for a while as that terrible night comes to a close.
(The next morning)
Ruby and I place our bags on the sidewalk while we wait for Winter, Blake and Yang to come around with the car. It feels nice but strange to be returning home after everything that happened. I never thought I'd not only be saying farewell to my family but..also honestly feeling like I am going to miss them.
Nobody has heard from Father since the incident last night. Apparently he has locked himself in his office and refused to come out. Not that I care, that man is as good as dead to me. Still…I never thought when I first arrived here that I'd be greeted by the sight of the rest of my family actually showing up to see me off.
"Even if it was under such terrible circumstances..I'm glad I got to see you Weiss and I'm glad we got to talk. I promise I'll do what I can to make things right between us, I just have a few…things to take care of first."
"I'm glad too Mom." I hugged her. "I really did miss you all these years, the real you, I'm happy to see that she's back."
"Me too." She hugs me back.
"I…" I look at Whitley and see that he is not only blushing but refusing to make eye contact. "I am also glad you came Weiss..you have given me a lot to think about."
"Happy to hear it, little Brother. I hope to hear from you soon." I hug him too which he somewhat hesitantly returns.
"It was a pleasure getting to meet you too Ruby, you had a bigger impact than you know."
"Same to you and I don't think I did all that much." Ruby nervously rubs the back of her head, blushing all the while.
"You helped me get the courage to open up to my daughter, that certainly is something."
I grab Ruby's hand, interlocking our fingers. "How is it that you manage to always change my life for the better Ruby Rose?"
"Weiss…"
A few Moments later, the girls come around with the car. We put our bags in the trunk and hop in the back seat. As we drive off, we all hang out the windows and wave goodbye one last time.
It's so strange…I could still care less about this mansion but I never thought I'd actually be kind of..sad, to say goodbye to Mom and Whitley. Just another little miracle that would've probably never happened if Ruby hadn't came into my life.
Sure there have been trials, last night for example but even so I have never been this happy in my entire life. I'm sure there will be plenty more trials in the future but I can't wait to see what other little miracles we have in store.
