AN: who's ready to be entertained

Chapter 28

Courtney's POV

Saturday

6:00 PM

Wow, I can't believe this dress Heather lent me it was pretty fancy and no doubt cost an arm and a leg. Kinda made me feel incredibly sexy in it.

" Do we really have to go to this? " asked Duncan driving up to the long driveway up to Heather and Alejandro's house which happened to be located in the wealthy neighbourhood which was nothing but big luxury houses.

" Wow big houses " exclaims Serenity looking out the window " Duncan how can I say no plus the others will be there too and it's just dinner " I said to him " let's just get through it and go home " I add so that he would change his attitude.

Once we pulled up a gate came into view.

" Great " sighed Duncan rolling down his window to press the intercom " yes who is it? "...

" Duncan and Courtney " replies Duncan rolling his eyes followed by the gate opening and us continuing to drive up to the big house.

" Okay now best behaviour " I said as we parked on the side " yes Mommy " answers Serenity smiling " actually honey I was talking to daddy " I replied looking at Duncan who has been complaining since this morning and when we were getting ready.

" Hey " he says getting out of the car " just behave " I said watching him get Serenity out from the car " geez this place is huge " he adds looking up at the house.

I agreed it was a big alright.

Walking up the stairs to the front door it didn't take long for a staff member to greet and show us in to where everyone else was.

I couldn't stop looking at this place it was something and no doubt everything here was expensive.

" Hola y Bienvenido" greets Alejandro as he walks up to us " good evening hello everyone " I greeted to him and seeing here Heather, Miguel, Bridgette, Geoff, Trent, Gwen and Louis who immediately rushed to us saying hello to Serenity.

The only ones next to arrive were Lindsey and Tyler with Mikey and Millie. Along with other guests. Unfortunately DJ wasn't able to make it due to an event going on at his job.

" Please join us for drinks and appetizers " said Heather walking up to us " yes please make yourselves at home " adds Alejandro leading us to the bar.

I also noticed Bridgette and Gwen wearing some very nice dresses as well I'm guessing Heather lent them outfits as well.

Looking down at the dress I was lent a red off shoulder dress with a slit and red heels. And for my hair I curled it and swept it to the side. Duncan almost didn't want me to leave the house because I looked too sexy in it.

Coming out of my thoughts Heather pulls my arm " I'm so glad you came " she says before taking a sip " of course but is everything okay? " I asked as we walk " yeah things are great between me and Alejandro but this dinner is about more then us coming together " explains Heather rolling her eyes.

Raising my eyebrows " what's it about? " I asked as we got to the bar " whenever we have a dinner my mother in law notices we never friends join us and says that I must be embarrassed to not have friends " she explained.

" Oh okay so this dinner party is to..."

" Shut my mother in law up " mutters Heather before grabbing a martini from the bar along with myself taking one " okay then " I said taking a sip wow this was a good martini.

Just then in walks Tyler and Lindsey along with the twins.

6:15 PM

Myself and the others sat with Heather on the couch as she told us how it meant a lot to her that we were here, while the guys talked amongst themselves enjoying appetizers and drinking.

" You guys are saving me tonight " sighs Heather looking at us " hey no problem " said Bridgette smiling while rubbing her bump " yeah I mean it's quite an interesting event " replies Gwen placing a pillow behind her back so that she's comfortable.

" On the bright side you and Alejandro are doing great " said Lindsey smiling " yeah that is true and I've gained respect from the family, but as a wife I've gotta have dinner parties every so often to show how I run the house and how guests enjoy themselves " explains Heather which is why she invited us.

" Mr. Burros Muertos your father and mother have arrived as well as your eldest brother " announced a staff member suddenly Heather got up and went up to Alejandro.

Standing together Alejandro's father and mother enter looking formal which explains the dresses while the guys were in suits.

" Madre Padre y Hermano Bienvenido " says Alejandro welcoming his family followed by kissing his mother on the cheeks and Heather mimicked the actions. " Bienvenido " she greets smiling at her in-laws.

Afterwards we're all introduced to them but Alejandro's brother couldn't stop looking at me, which was flattering but I don't think Duncan will be happy.

Heather spoke to one of the staff members for a moment my guess was to get dinner going or prepared.

7:00 PM

We we're all seated at the dining room table which was pretty long and very elaborate.

Of course beings mostly couples we sat by our spouses and the children sat at the end, kind of odd.

" Well this evening so far is different...quite a variety of different faces and people " said Pedro in his thick Spanish accent smiling at everyone " yes quite the sociable group " said Catia Alejandro's mother.

" We were fortunate enough that our friends were able to join us tonight " said Heather smiling at us " and when we do get together we definitely have good times " said Geoff looking at the table as we all agree.

Just then our first course is brought out which looks like a type of cream like soup " this looks delicious " I said looking at the dishes even though it's just soup it's presentation is still nice.

Looking at the children they got a different soup which looked like a brother with vegetables. I'm guessing Heather planned really well.

" Please enjoy everyone this is a pumpkin and squash cream soup with saffron " explained the staff before they all left.

" And Bridgette I haven't forgotten that your a vegetarian your dishes are being prepared separately " said Heather looking at her " oh thank you and this soup smells delicious " said Bridgette happily.

" Do I have to eat it? " whispers Duncan while putting his napkin on his knee " be nice, Serenity is behaving better then you " I breathed picking up my spoon then tasted it which I had to say was seriously delicious, full of flavour and it wasn't heavy.

Turning to look at Duncan take a sip his eyes open " oh wow it's good " he said taking another spoonful " do they got more? " he asks making giggle.

Duncan's POV

7:15 AM

Damn that soup was good, who knew that pumpkin and squash could taste good. After the soup came a salad which had me question it at first.

" Next is a roasted beet and fruit salad served over finely shredded black kale and red cabbage with a 100 year old balsamic vinaigrette " says the staff as one walks around offering dressing.

" Wow this is salad...I've been eating some really terrible salads all my life " says Geoff making everyone at the table laugh at his comment " same here " replies Trent taking another bite.

If everyone was enjoying it then I could too I guess " vinaigrette sir madam? " asked the staff " yes please " answered Courtney " sure throw some on mine " I said to the guy.

Once again I was hesitant but again I got proved wrong, how is it that fruit works with salad is beyond me. Is this really what rich people eat. And I didn't know I like balsamic vinegar.

" Well someone is enjoying themselves " says Jose who oddly was sitting across from me " your point? " I asked but he simply shakes his head and drinks his wine followed by gesturing for more.

This guy was a problem. And he was up to something.

Once we finished the salad we're served sautéed shrimp in white wine butter sauce served with a crispy baguette on the side, damn was it good.

Then after the main course was served which was a favourite dish of Alejandro dad which was roasted pheasant Coq au vin served with roasted potatoes, carrots and broccolini.

This was something I swear no one was talking because of how great this food was, I'm taking back of not almost wanting to come tonight.

" Mommy I need help " called Serenity looking at us " oh okay " says Courtney getting up from her seat but as she Alejandro's dad stood up " oh it's okay it'll just be a moment " says Courtney going to Serenity.

" I see the manners of the new generation are not valued " Pedro said to us picking up his wine glass " yes clearly it needs to be practiced " said Catia looking at everyone.

" Padre Madre por favor " says Alejandro looking at them " yes it's understandable but it's not always going to used especially for just moments " says Heather speaking to them.

" Perhaps " says Pedro continuing to eat his dinner " I must say you've selected a good variety of dishes for this evening Heather " said Catia picking up her wine glass " well since it's fall I spoke with the chef and showed all the wonderful ingredients for tonight's dinner " explains Heather which made her mother in law nod.

Man Heather hates her this was entertaining to watch I thought to myself.

Courtney returned a moment later "Everything good? " I asked as she ate her dinner "Yeah she just wanted me to help cut her chicken " she explains " alright " I answered finishing the rest of my food.

Finally, dessert arrived which was a very rich chocolate domed cake with raspberry and chocolate mousse.

I could have died right now eating this, it was so good.

Once finished the kids were allowed to leave and have fun.

Alejandro's POV

8:30 PM

So far this dinner was going better then I suspected and mother seemed to be less judgmental towards Heather. She put lots of effort to preparing this evening.

" So gentleman what do you all do for a living? " asks Dad looking at all of us...

" I'm an event planner for my family's company " answers Geoff bravely going first...

" I'm a personal trainer, " says Tyler flexing his arms which unfortunately ripped the sleeves of his jacket making most of us giggle or chuckle.

" I work at a recording studio " answers Trent smiling.

" Quite interesting career choices and what about yourself young man, " says Perdo looking at Duncan at the end "Oh I'm a mechanic and I own my auto shop sir " he answers causing fathers reaction to change.

" Well now that's impressive " he says making everyone look surprised including my own " wow that's a first " says Jose looking at me.

" See none of my sons inherited my love for vehicles especially for the classics " said Pedro shaking his head " they only enjoy driving or crashing them " he adds eyes Jose who looks away.

I couldn't help but laugh it was true Jose did crash a convertible once.

" Woah Alejandro your dads a car lover " asks Geoff looking over me " oh dear please do not bring up the subject " said Mother before sipping her tea.

" There's nothing wrong with a good conversation about vehicles " says Father smiling.

Dios mio dad and his cars he never once let me or my brothers near them and if we did we there will be hell.

" True but the one car I adore currently is my fully restored 1948 356 Porsche " says Duncan only to hear a utensil drop father immediately stood up looking shocked.

" Did you say a 1948 356 Porsche " he asks shaken looking at Duncan intense, I never seen him like this?

" Yes you heard me a 1948 356 Porsche " repeats Duncan smiling I guess seeing father like this is amusing " that is my dream car I've searched and hunted and at this very table you own it " explains father sitting down.

We all go silent waiting to hear what father will say next but next thing I know he's reaching into his suit pocket pulling out his cheque book and gold pen.

" What's going on here? " asked Heather feeling the tension in the room " no clue but father is never like this " I said staring at him.

Looking straight Duncan " I'd like to make you an offer for it " says Dad making myself and Jose stand " Papa, estas loco? ( Dad, are you crazy? ) " asks Jose " Dad this is a dinner not a negotiation " I exclaimed.

" I'm sorry man it's not for sale " said Duncan proudly " I can write all sorts of numbers on this paper young man you name it and I'll even triple it " replied Dad making everyone gasp.

" Wow dude what are you gonna do? " asks Tyler looking at Duncan.

Sighing heavily " it does sound like an incredible offer but I must decline that car was left to me by my mentor...and I don't want to lose that plus I'm planning on using the car at my wedding to drive away with my bride " explained Duncan picking up Courtney's hand " Duncan " she sighs smiling at him.

" Those are gonna make great photos " said Gwen's smiling " very classy " adds Trent wrapping and arm around Gwen.

" Understandable and I respect that losing something left by those gone is sentimental " replies Dad " well my quest continues " he adds putting his chequebook away.

The night continued on without any problems, but it was so amusing to see Dad react.

We were all going into the living room to have one last drink when suddenly we heard a loud Roar along with some screams.

" Woah what was that? " asks Tyler " that came from our home theatre " answers Heather as she along with everyone rushing towards it.

When we walked in we see on the screen the T-Rex from Jurassic Park currently swinging a person in its jaws.

" Oh my god " says Courtney quickly rushing to the front along with Duncan, Trent, and Tyler.

" Turn it off " said Heather as I rushed to the side to stop the movie playing.

When I turned around the kids were in the front seats scared out of there minds.

" Mommy that was scary " says Serenity hugging Courtney tight " Dad was that real? " asked Louis looking nervous " that was so cool " says Millie but her twin brother held himself.

" Where's Miguel? " I asked noticing an empty seat but then he comes out of hiding from underneath the seat " I wasn't scared " he says coming out.

" Miguel you know your not allowed to watch violent movies " says Heather crouching in front of him " exactly especially when it's scared the others " I said joining them " Did you get it from the top shelf where we said your not allowed to touch? " asked Heather grabbing his hand leading him outside along with the others.

" This is sweet " said Duncan admiring the room " you should see games on that thing " I said as I turned the lights off.

" Your in big trouble Miguel now answer where did you get that movie " said Heather walking with him to the living room " papa's office " he answers " my office? " I said confused " yeah you had it in a new box with a scribble on it " explains Miguel's making my eyes bulge open.

Sprinting to my office I immediately see on the ground what he meant and boy I was pissed off now.

Returning to the living room " You opened my limited silver edition Jurassic Park DVD that has Steven Spielbergs autograph " I said holding up the torn box and wrapper.

Miguel quickly hid behind Heather without answering. While mostly the guys react differently.

" Miguel Burros Muertos you are GROUNDED FOR LIFE!!!! " I exclaimed " what does that mean? " he asks looking very scared.

" It means you won't be seeing daylight anytime soon kid " explains Duncan trying not to laugh " especially when it comes to things of value like that " said Geoff nodding.

10:00 PM

Both Heather and I sincerely apologized to the children's parents for that frightening experience they endured thanks to Miguel.

And I meant what I said about him being grounded aside from school and his activities he's not allowed to watch TV, movies, or play games he's under strict limitations for what he's done. I also had a hard firm talk with him as well.

He ended up crying because of it but he broke the rules, did something he wasn't allowed to do and ruined my priceless memorabilia. This was a lesson he had to learn.

It was a long day and I needed rest.

Heathers POV

Watching Alejandro join me in our bed he sighed heavily once under the covers.

" Hey you were very hard on him " I said looking away from my magazine " he has to learn what he did was not okay and so I did what I did " answers Alejandro " true your right he had to learn " I replied looking at my magazine again.

Alejandro rolls on his side to face me " maybe I was hard on him but then again he did get into a few problems last year at school " he explained recalling the events " true and we didn't do much in the ways of being strict " I reply putting my magazine on the night stand.

" So for now we're strict when he does something bad or if he gets in trouble " said Alejandro sitting up " agreed I swear I got away with so much my parents barely did anything " I replied laying down on my pillow " I just want him to know what's good and what's bad " I sigh getting concerned.

" Well he's our only child after all...have you considered wanting another mi amor? " asked Alejandro now making me sit up " It never crossed my mind before...I thought we weren't going to have more " I answered.

" Who said we shouldn't I personally would love to see a little girl that is beautiful just like her mama " said Alejandro getting closer to me " I guess...it wouldn't be a bad idea " I breathed smiling at Alejandro.

Turning the light off " so shall we try then...maybe even now " he asks followed by him gasping loudly " what do you think I'm doing " I moan currently moving my hips " that...was...quick " breathes Alejandro.

Let's see what happens for us til then I'm just gonna enjoy the ride...literally

AN: So most likely only 3 chapters left and then I'm done. I know there's been ups and downs, twists and turns. Life lessons and experiences. But hopefully your all enjoying this.
