Ruby Rose
"Hey Rubes, you think you could take a look at these assets." Alan shoots me a link.
"Sure but remember that I am taking off early today." I say, taking a quick look to make sure everything is right.
"Yeah, yeah big night I know." he says. "How long have you guys been married again?"
"Five years today." I say, unable to suppress a smile.
"Wow…crazy to think it's been that long already."
"I know, the wedding still feels like it was only yesterday." I lean back and stretch, giving him a thumbs up to signal that everything looks good. "You and Inu have been married for a couple of years now right?"
"Yup and soon it won't be just us anymore."
"Stop, I still can't believe YOU of all people are having a baby." I laugh and he throws a paper ball at me. "Well at least Inu will be there to make sure they turn out okay."
"Please, you'd make a way worse parent than me."
"Yeah well…not like Weiss and I will be having a baby anytime soon."
"You do know there are ways you guys could have a kid right?"
"Of course I do!" I toss his paper ball back at him. "We've just never really talked about it."
"Do you WANT to talk to her about it?" he asks, dropping the jerk act for a moment.
"I...I don't know, life is just kind of busy for us right now. Even if I wanted to, I don't want to give her anything else to worry about.
"Well you know, Inu always tells me that in our relationship if there is something I really want to discuss that I should tell her, no matter what. She's always been really good when it comes to that kind of stuff so.."
It's kind of adorable how much unquestioning trust he has in her when it comes to things like that. That said, she kinda has a point. It is really important and if it's bothering me why shouldn't I bring it up?
Suddenly my phone starts ringing. "Hello?" I ask, holding the phone to my ear.
"Hey Ruby." I hear Weiss answer. She must have gotten off work early today.
"Hey Weissy, what's up?"
"Well since today is a pretty big day, I was wondering if when you get off you wanted to go out tonight?" she asks.
"Yeah sure sounds like fun, I'm actually gonna be heading out real soon." I answer excitedly.
"Great, I'll get everything ready." She says happily. "Well I'll let you get back to work, I love you."
"I love you too, bye bye." I say hanging up.
"Just go ahead and take off now, I got the rest of it pipsqueak." he says. "I'll close up."
"You sure?" I ask.
"Yeah, it's a big day for you and Weiss, don't keep her waiting."
"Thanks so much!" I hug him before quickling grabbing my stuff, including my gift for Weiss. I spent hours in a jewelry shop last week trying to pick it out. "Alright then, I'm heading out."
"Sure thing, happy anniversary!" he shouts as I run out the front door, hopping on Whiterose and peeling off down the road.
Once I get home I rush upstairs to get ready only to run into Weiss who was in the middle of getting dressed.
"Oh, welcome home darling, you should probably get in the shower right away. I made dinner reservations at Robin's place." she says, slipping into a dress skirt. I nervously hide my present behind my back and begin edging to the bathroom, not taking my eyes off her the entire time.
"You like what you see or something?" she smirks at me. It's crazy that she can still make me blush even after all this time.
"O-Of course I do." I say nervously. It's only half a lie, I just can't point out that I'm trying to hide the present I bought her.
"Well you'll have plenty of time to look later, you need to get ready." she giggles and turns around.
"Y-Yeah, I'll be out in a flash!" Luckily Weiss doesn't seem to notice anything as she starts laying out an outfit for me. She always picks my clothes whenever we go out on fancier dates or on special occasions since I have no fashion sense when it comes to stuff like that.
"Just try to hurry because we need to be there in an hour." she says looking through the closet.
"You got it Weissy." I quickly retreat into the bathroom and breathe a sigh of relief as I hide the present in a bottom drawer. Afterward I do as I am told and quickly hop into the shower.
Today has been kind of stressful, what with Alan and I being so far behind on our game. The rest of the team is starting to get super anxious…BUT tonight should more than make up for it. I love going out with my Weissy after all and it's a special occasion for us. As soon as I am sufficiently clean I hop out drying myself off with a nearby towel and blow drying my hair.
I step out of the bathroom not bothering to put a towel around myself. Me and Weiss aren't exactly super modest anymore when it comes to nudity at least around each other. I slip into the outfit she laid out for me and I hear her come into the room right as I finish putting it on.
"As usual you look beautiful." she says with a smile and walks over to me putting her arms around my neck.
"And as usual your way MORE beautiful." I say wrapping my arms around her waist. She kisses me and I kiss her back. Honestly for a second I think we might not end up going anywhere…wouldn't be the first time. Eventually though she pulls away and grabs her purse.
"Well we better get going, there will be plenty of time for...THAT after dinner." she says winking and walking out of the bedroom. The more time passes, the more flirty she becomes. When we first started dating she didn't like kissing in front of others but now she can say something like that with such ease. Not that I am complaining in the slightest.
Once we get to the restaurant we are immediately greeted by Robin.
"Hey there love birds!" she shouts at us and waves us ahead of the line of people waiting to get in. Perks of knowing the owners I guess. When Fiona's Uncle passed away then she inherited the restaurant. She decided she didn't want to run it alone so she invited Robin, May and Joanna to basically be co-owners. "Happy anniversary you two!"
"Thanks Robin, Ruby and I really appreciate you giving us reservations on such short notice, we know how busy you guys get." Weiss says, flashing one of her beautiful smiles.
"Don't even mention it I couldn't turn you down on your anniversary, what kind of friend slash Aunt would that make me?" She asks rhetorically and motions for us to follow her to our table. I know I should call her Aunt Robin but I still haven't totally gotten used to the fact that she and Uncle Qrow got married. It's been a couple of years, sure, but still.
She seats us at a table next to the window which I like because moonlight is beating right down on top of us. It's basically the nicest table in the whole place, I can't help but feel a little spoiled.
We order our food and Robin runs back to the kitchen. Funnily enough Ren and Nora actually worked here for a bit before their dancing careers took off, they actually run a small studio not far from here.
"So how was work?" I ask, trying to start some small talk.
"It was exhausting actually, my boss wants me to have a new proposal on his desk by next week and it looks like the next couple nights will be pretty late." she says leaning against the table.
"That's really rough, but don't worry, I will make sure to pick up some of the slack at home."
"Aren't you really busy with the game though?" she asks.
"Well yeah but I can take off early a couple of days, it's no biggie." This earns a giggle from Weiss and I can't help but smile.
"Ruby, you are far too sweet." She reaches across the table and puts her hand on mine. "What did I do to deserve you?"
"Well I could run down the entire list but we'd be here all night." We both laugh.
Eventually our food arrives and we dig in. As usual it's absolutely delicious, one of the main reasons we love coming here so much.
Once we finish eating we try to pay the bill but Robin refuses to let us. Telling us that it's on the house. We thank her and the rest of the staff one last time before heading home.
When we get home Weiss gives me that look and leads me up stairs. Before we reach the bed though I stop her as much as I would love to get to the main attraction I almost forgot her gift.
"What's wrong?" she asks. "You not in the mood or something?"
"NO!" I shout blushing slightly when she lets out a small giggle at my response. "Um that's not it, I just wanted to give you something first." I hand her the box and she looks surprised. She smiles and takes it from me, when she opens the box to reveal the necklace and she audibly gasps.
"Ruby, it's beautiful." she says lifting it up to get a better look. I won't be getting any new games for a few months but it's worth it to see that smile on her face.
"Well I figured my beautiful wife deserved a beautiful gift." I say, kissing her on the cheek.
She responds by kissing me and pulling me back onto the bed. She eventually breaks the kiss and looks up at me with a kind of sad look.
"I just feel bad because I didn't get you anything." she says with a tinge of guilt in her voice.
"I don't need anything, just being here with you is enough, it always is." I say looking down at her with a reassuring smile.
"I love you so much Ruby Rose."
"I love you too Weiss." she pulls me into another kiss, this one even more passionate. I doubt either of us will be getting much sleep.
Weiss Schnee
As soon as I wake up I lean over the bed and give Ruby a gentle kiss on the cheek before I walk down stairs to start cooking breakfast.
I don't have to go into the office today so I'll be working from home on that proposal. Ruby on the other hand does have to physically go to work today so I want to make sure she at least gets a decent breakfast. As I am cooking I hear a tired yawn and footsteps coming down the stairs. A few seconds later my adorable wife comes strolling into the kitchen with a major case of bedhead.
"Sleep well?" I ask half sarcastically. She responds with a light chuckle.
"You know I didn't." she says back forcing a small laugh out of me. She sits down at the table and once the food is done I sit it down in front of her. "So any plans today?" she asks.
"Actually yeah, aside from working on my proposal, I was planning to visit Pyrrha. I figured I could lend her a hand with those kids of hers." I say sitting at the table and digging in myself.
"I still can't believe she pumped out three babies, I don't think I could handle that." she says jokingly.
"Yeah well I'm more shocked that Jaune put a bun in her oven three times and in only five years, poor Pyrrha didn't really get much chance to even recover." I say back jokingly and we both have a good laugh. We sit there in silence for a little while we eat our breakfast.
"Have you ever um..given that any thought?" she asks kind of nervously.
"Given what any thought." I ask. Wondering why she is suddenly nervous.
"You know...us having kids?" She makes herself more specific. Honestly I am a bit taken back by her question, so much so I nearly choke on my food...I calm down and try not to come across as surprised. I mean..of course I have thought of it but I'm not sure if we are ready for that.
"Um...sometimes I think about it." I responded honestly.
"Yeah me too.." she says back and with that the conversation just sort of ends. I can tell she had more to say but she just kind of lets it go.
She finishes eating and heads up stairs to get ready for work. About forty minutes later she comes back down fully dressed and grabs her laptop bag off the couch. I give her a goodbye kiss and send her on her way. Once she is gone I get myself cleaned up and dressed before grabbing my purse and laptop and heading over to Pyrrha and Jaune's place.
"Aunty Veiss!" Loran yells as she runs up to me hugging my leg. She is the oldest at a little over 4 and the only girl out of all the Arc children. She had strawberry blonde hair that actually looked kind of orange and green eyes.
"Hey there Loran, where is your mother?" I ask, picking her up and she points to the kitchen. Sure enough there is Pyrrha standing at the counter trying to make lunch while her sons are as usual not giving her any peace.
The second oldest at a little over 3 Kokkin, who has fiery red hair and blue eyes, is running around the kitchen being a little gremlin. The youngest boy at only a year JJ or Jaune Jr who basically looks like a miniature version of his father is crying while his mother, who is still trying to cook mind you, tries to soothe him.
"Thank goodness you're here." Pyrrha says looking honestly pretty exhausted.
"Sorry I would've been here earlier but I didn't get up until Ruby had to. It was...a late night." I say nervously scratching my cheek.
"Don't worry about it, I'm just glad you're here now." she says. This poor woman…I know Jaune does what he can, if he's not at work he's here helping until he and Pyrrha finally both collapse. He works so much overtime though he isn't home as often as he'd like so Pyrrha ends up doing the lion's share around here.
"Tell you what, why don't you go lay down for a bit and I will take them off your hands completely for a few hours." I say smiling.
"Oh no I just asked you to help, I couldn't ask you to take over." she says waving her hands in front of her face.
"Oh don't worry about it I don't get to spend much time with them anyway, so you just go lay down and I'm not taking no for an answer." I say adamantly. "Besides, Inu isn't working today, I can ask her to come over and help if I need it."
"Well...if you're sure, I could really use the rest." she says still kind of unsure.
"I'm sure now go." I say pointing to the stairs.
"Alright..thanks Weiss it means a lot." she says hugging me before handing me JJ and walking upstairs.
"Sorry momma's boy you'll just have to spend some quality time with Auntie Weiss" I say, gently bouncing him up and down and talking sweetly to him. Eventually I manage to calm him down enough that he's no longer wailing so I sit him down in his high chair and give him his favorite toy to keep him calm.
"As for you Kokkin, sit down before I stick you in time out." I point to the couch in the living room and he reluctantly does as he's told. Unlike his Mom he knows I don't play around about that stuff.
"Can I help you make lunch, Aunty Veiss?" Loran asks, smiling up at me sweetly. I'm glad that I know I'll never have trouble with her.
"Of course you can." I answer, leaning down and smiling back at her. She follows me over to the counter so I can finish making the spaghetti that Pyrrha started. She mostly just hands me stuff when I ask for it but it is still helpful and besides she makes an adorable helper.
At the same time she is talking to JJ helping me to keep him calm, she is a really good big sister. Once I am done cooking I call Kokkin back into the kitchen and I sit the food down in front of all the kids.
I gave JJ a considerably smaller portion and tried my best to cut the noodles into smaller pieces for him. I mostly let him eat on his own, only helping when he had trouble. As usual he got a good portion of it on his hands and face.
"Where's Aunty Rupy?" Loran asks.
"Auntie Ruby had to work today, she and Uncle Alan are making a really cool game and it takes a lot of work." I respond, only looking away from JJ for a second.
"Do you love Aunty Rupy?" Loran asks. She is at that age where she asks questions all the time. Luckily this is a very easy one.
"Yes I do very much." I reply honestly.
"How come mommy and daddy are a boy and girl but Aunty Veiss and Aunty Rupy are both girls." she asks, tilting her head in that cute way she does when she is really curious. I figured that question would come up at some point. It's different from what she is used to so it makes sense.
"Because Loran, two girls can love each other just as much as a boy and girl can." I respond by trying to keep it simple. She seems to accept this answer without any trouble and goes back to eating.
I begin thinking about what Ruby said this morning, about us having kids. Honestly every time I think about it I wonder how we would go about it and whether or not we are ready for that big of a step. I mean having kids changes everything and I like mine and Ruby's life together exactly as it is…
Then again, Inu and Alan seem to be dealing with it just fine. They even seem ecstatic about it, despite how much Alan tries to fake being cynical about it. Not to mention every time I look at Loran and even Kokkin and JJ I start to wonder…if it would be that bad of a change?
