December 26th, 1977

When Marlene woke up on the day after Christmas, she found a letter on her desk. She took the letter and opened it. It was from Sirius, asking her to come to the 7th floor. She was curious why Sirius wanted her to go to the 7th floor. After getting ready, she made her way to the seventh floor. She looked around for Sirius but didn't find him anywhere. She then saw a note stuck to the wall. It read, stand in front of this wall and think about me.

Marlene was sure that Sirius was probably playing some prank on her. Deciding to humor him, she thought about yesterday night. They had been sitting by the fire in the head's common room, along with their other friends, talking and enjoying Christmas night. She had been sitting on Sirius's lap while his arms were around her, holding her.

She saw a door appear in front of her. Intrigue and curiosity made her open the door and walk through it. She found herself standing in the middle of a forest, with a waterfall in front of her. She looked around, trying to find Sirius. She felt someone tap her shoulder. She looked back and found Sirius smiling at her. He said, "Liking this place?" Marlene said, "What is going on here? Where did this waterfall come for?" Sirius said, "This is a magical place one of the elves showed me. Apparently, they call it the come and go room. It's a surprise none of us knew about this room, considering how much we have roamed and mapped the castle. I have planned something. Go to that table over there. There is something I need to do before I join you." Marlene nodded and went towards the table that Sirius had pointed to her. On the table was a dress for her. It was knee length one piece dress, the design very similar to the dress she had worn for the ball. She wore it and looked around. A small table was arranged few metres away from the waterfall. She saw Sirius sitting there. She went towards that table.

Sirius saw Marlene coming toward him and went towards her. The dress looked perfect on her and she looked gorgeous. Marlene gave him a kiss and asked him, "So what is going on here Sirius?" He said, "I had planned two Christmas presents for you. This is the second one. Just the two of us in this beautiful place, enjoying this place." She kissed him again and said, "This is turning out to be the best Christmas present." Sirius smirked and said, "If everything I planned happens perfectly, this will only get better." Marlene raised her eyes in challenge and said, "Confident about that Sirius? Let's see then."

They both sat and began eating. Sirius had asked the elves to help in arranging the dishes. They were a mix of his and her favourite dishes and desserts. After they were done eating, Sirius stood and held his out towards her. He asked her, "Want to dance Marlene?" She nodded and took his hand. Slow romantic music began playing and Sirius and Marlene began dancing. The dance was slow, her head resting on his shoulders while his chin rested on her head as they swayed to the music.

After dancing for a while, they changed their dresses and played in the waterfalls for a while. After that, they both were sitting by the edge, their feet in the water. Sirius asked Marlene, "Did you enjoy today?" Marlene nodded and said, "It is the best date we ever had." Sirius said, "There is one thing that make it even more memorable." Marlene asked, "And what is that Sirius?" He stood up and went to the table where their clothes were. He pulled something and then came back. Then something happened that Marlene hadn't expected. Sirius went on one knee and in his hand was a box with a beautiful diamond ring in it. Sirius said, "I love you, Marlene. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You changed me for the better, you brought things out in me that I never imagined I had in me. I want to always have you by my side. Will you marry me?"

Words left Marlene. She could only frantically nod her head as tears of joy and happiness left her eyes. She held her left hand in front of him. Sirius placed the ring on her ring finger and kissed it. Marlene just looked at the ring. Sirius said, "It belonged to my grandmother, Dorea Potter. She wanted me to have it and give it to the love of my life." Marlene just kissed him, but she expressed everything through it.

Later that night, they were all in the common room. Peter had gone to his home for Christmas and had come back. He was telling them about Christmas at his parents. During this, Lily noticed that for some reason Sirius was continuously playing with Marlene's left hand. Lily saw something sparkle on Marlene's left hand. Lily immediately understood what it meant. After Peter was done speaking, Lily, with a smirk on her face, asked Marlene and Sirius if they wanted to tell them something. Sirius looked surprised while Marlene had a smile on her face. She held her out for everyone to see the ring on her finger. Everyone congratulated them and for the rest of the night, they celebrated the engagement of Sirius and Marlene.
