Chapter Two: "X-School"

About Five Years Later

Charles Xavier wheeled into a bar along the Canadian border with his old friend, Hank McCoy, by his side. Their was quite a crowd there tonight as they were doing some kind of cage fighting in the center of the bar.

One man was just defeated and being dragged from the cage. A young man, wearing no top, faced his corner of the hexagon, drinking and smoking.

"Gentlemen, in all my years. i've never seen anything like this", said the announcer from the center of the cage as the crowd roared, "Are you gonna let this man walk away with your money?".

"No!", the crowd yelled in unison.

"I'll fight him!", a bald man that was probably a biker or trucker, to which the crowd cheered as Xavier and Hank remained silent, the young man in the cage seemed to ignore it as he downed his glass.

"Ladies and gentlemen, our saviour!", says the announcer as the bald man entered the ring without his jacket, leaving him in a sleeveless rock shirt and jeans.

"Whatever who do, don't hit him in the balls", the announcer tells the man away from the microphone.

"You said anything goes", the new fighter says to him as he hyped himself up for the fight.

"Anything goes, but he'll take it personal.", the announcer warned.

The announcer leaves the cage as the bell rings. The young man still has his back to the bald man while the bald man spartan kicks him into the cage, he then hits the young man in the face a few times till he's down on his knees as the crowd cheered. The bald man then kicked the young man a few times in his torso.

The young man began getting up and throw a punch at the bald man's incoming fist. They collide with the bald man's fist flopping open and bending badly at the wrist. The young man growls as he closes in on the now in pain man, left hooking him in the head sending the older man into the cage before he then bounced off. The younger man then headbutted the older man with the left side of his head, sending him down to the ground, unconscious. The bell rings, signaling the end of the match.

The crowd roared, with most booing, as the announcer states, "Ladies and gentlemen, tonight's winner and still King of the Cage, The Wolverine", as Jason Todd went back to his corner to finish his cigar.

Awhile Later

The crowd was gone as the announcer and a woman counted money at a table.

Jason was sitting at the bar fully-dressed. He wore a white beater under a red flannel, blue jeans, worker boots, and his favored leather jacket. The leather jacket was a dark brown in color, with light brown along the bottom and three light brown lines circled each arm at the bicep area.

Finishing off a glass of whiskey, which he was allowed to drink in Canada as the age was 19 and older and him being 20 going on 21. Jason paid the bartender and left the bar while the guys he defeated have either left or were still knocked out.

Jason was making his way through the cold parking lot to his motorcycle before a bald man in a wheelchair and a big man with glasses approached him.

"Mr. Todd, I'm Charles Xavier. I'm here to make an offer", Xavier introduced himself to Jason.

Jason looks to the older man with a smoldering brow, "Not a lot of people know who I am nowadays, and my trust and patience in others is limited, so what do you want before I ride my bike out of here?".

"I run a school for empower young individuals, like yourself.", Charles explains, "It's to help them learn to control their abilities so they are not a danger to themselves or others."

"Well I already got a grasp of mine, so I don't need your help there", Jason says before turning away from them and heading for his bike.

"You are also always alone, moving from place to place, running from who you are!", Charles says, with Jason stopping once more.

"I can give you a home again, where you can be Jason Todd once more, where you can settle and make friends, and where you can help people in anyway that you can", Charles explains to the young man before him, Hank remaining silent throughout as he didn't want to interfere.

"And what do you mean by that", Jason asked.

The Next Day, in New York

Jason rode his bike, a custom Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle, behind the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow that belonged to Xavier.

They approached a massive closed off property, there's a circled X on the metal gate with a sign on the side saying, "Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters". The door opens as a buzzing sounds off. The two vehicles drive in.

After they park the bike and car in the manor garage, the trio venture into the mansion.

They gave the basic tour of, "this is the kitchen", "This is the dining room", "this is the foray", etc, etc.

"Now, why don't I call down the others you'll being staying with before we continue', Xavier states before closing his eyes with his right hand's middle and index fingers to his temple, Jason figures he was using his telepathy he mentioned before coming here to inform the others living here to meet them in the foray.

A few minutes later, three teens appeared before Jason and the professors.

First was a caucasian male with short brown hair wearing ruby-red sunglasses over his eyes. He was wearing a blue t-shirt over a grey long sleeve, brown pants, and dark shoes.

Second was a dark skinned female with white hair that looked natural and electric blue eyes. She wore a Black tank top with yellow accents, dark jeans, grey belts, and black boots.

The third and final teen was a caucasian female with red hair and green eyes. She wore a green button-up sweater over a yellow shirt, cargo pants, and converse shoes.

"Jason, these are the others staying here, Scott Summers", Xavier chestures to the male, "Ororo Munroe", the white hair girl, "and Jean Grey", and the redhead.

"Students, this is Jason, are newest resident of the Institute", he introduces Jason to the three.

"Call me Logan for now", He grunted to the trio.

Scott simply grunted back while the girls actually greeted him, "Hello", "Hey".

Scott looked to the Professor Xavier, "Is he also a part of our...?"

"Your Pro Mutant Equality Team, yeah", Jason says, just knowing he won't like the sunglasses wearing teen. Scott glared at the more feral young man with a silent snarl on his lips.

"We call the team, the X-Men", Hank informs Jason.

Jason looks to the two girls then back to the bigger man, "you call yourselves the X-Men with half the team being women? So you'll fight for Mutant equality but not gender equality".

"Well-uh-I-uh...", Hank stuttered with a blush on his embarrassed face and was messing with his glasses.

"He's messing with you Hank", Xavier tells Hank, who then grumbles in response.

"Though, he's not wrong about the name", Ororo comments to Jean, who nods.

"No he's not", Xavier says to the female duo, having heard what was said, "But finding a new name can wait till later, like when our actions are becoming more present in the public eye. Now, let's head downstairs".

"What's downstairs?", Jason asks as the six of them headed to a secret elevator.

About Minute Later, Downstairs

"This is the X Uniforms Storage and Changing Rooms", Ororo says as they look into a well lit room with lockers, curtains, and stands showing the suits.

The suits all looked like dark blue, full body suits with a giant yellow X on the torso, both on the front and back, connected at the shoulders and sides. They also had matching yellow gloves and boots. Finally, there was a yellow utility belt with four red triangle around the buckle, forming a yellow X.

"They're very... uniform", Jason remarks, 'I always made fun of the Green Lanterns and others for wearing matching super suits.'

They continued down the shiny metallic looking halls to another room behind another circled X door. This roomed housed some vehicles, with the most prominent being a giant black plane, looking like a heavily modified Lockheed SR-71.

"This is where we keep most of the teams modes of transportation, with us mostly using the X-Jet aka The Blackbird for our missions", Scott informs, showing some excitement at being around the vehicles.

They then continued to the next room, which seemed to depress the teens but Hank seemed excited about.

"Welcome to the Danger Room", Hank McCoy tells Jason as they enter a massive grey room with a bunch of segmented areas. "It's a multi functioned training room for the team to... well, train in.", he informed, "It's mechanized to change for obstacles and use multiple weapons to fight."

Jason had to admit, that was new for him and he was impressed, though last he knew Bruce was working on a holographic training area.

"We can run a test here for you at a later date", Charles informs Jason.

Jason notice another door to the far end.

"That is Cerebro, I'll show you it later", Charles quietly informs Jason before the group then heads back upstairs

Later

After the went back upstairs, the guys said good night to the girls and they went to their rooms in the West Wing, while Charles, Hank, and Scott took Jason to the East Wing to show him his room.

Jason room was pretty decent in size and appearance, with it being a basic beige in color with red carpet, bed sheets and comforters. There was a wooden desk, shelves, dresser, and bedside tables. There was an old chair at the desk along with an old tv on a stand, those he would have to replace for certain, maybe the bed mattress as well.

The men bid each other a good night as well, while Jason dumped his bag by the dresser for now.

Jason carefully sits on the bed before shifting his weight as he then lays down on it in the center of the mattress before closing his eyes to sleep.

CRACK!

The bed frame snapped.

He only sighs before letting sleep claim him.

In The Morning

Jason heads down for breakfast with the others who lived in the institute. He sees the three teens and Xavier sitting around the table with the food; French Toast, Sausage, Bacon, Butter, and Syrup. Jason takes a seat.

After Eating, Xavier pulled off to the side to talk with him.

"Now Jason, because of some bureaucracy, the institute has yet to be classified as a school, so we send the students to a high school in the area. Another reason I send them is that I believe the Brotherhood of Mutants is also has something to do with that school.", Xavier says to the younger man.

"Brotherhood of Mutants?", Jason asks with a raised eyebrow.

"A group of mutant supremacist striving for their place above others with the death or subjugation of non-mutants, lead by an Omega-Level mutant called Magneto". Xavier informs him.

"Damn", Jason comments

"Their involvement is I want you to go to the school as well", Xavier continues, "To keep an eye on my wards and another eye out for the Brotherhood's involvement."

Jason sighs, but gets it. Even though he is 20, his natural good looks and healing factor made it easy to confuse him for younger, his slow aging will make this last for a long time to. Thankfully for Charles, he had shaved his face, making him look even younger.

"Hank will also be there, as he works as a Science and Gym Teacher at the school until this place can be officiated. We already made your files and prepared your transfer, it's your first day.", Xavier says before handing him his school gear and school ID, with it showing a picture of him and having the name 'James Logan Howlett' printed on it.

'At least he got the correct alias for it', Jason thought to himself before sighing and heading to the garage.

He arrives to see Scott, Jean, Ororo in a red 2019 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, Jason guesses that it might have been a present to Scott for his learning to drive.

"Need a lift? Though I have rules for riding in my car", Scott smugly says to the more feral man.

"I'm good", Jason says before grabbing his bike and riding ahead of the trio.

"Pretty cool guy", Jean comments, to which Ororo agrees and Scott scowls, before driving after him to the school.

Later in the afternoon

Jason ended up behind the car, not because it was faster or better that his ride, but because he had no idea where the school was.

The school day went on without any problems. He had went to the main office for his schedule and a map of the school, and then went on his way. He found he was a Senior compared to the other Xavier Institute teens, so he won't be at this school for more than a year, thankfully.

The bell for the final class ending rang and the students began to head home, while his teacher stopped Jason, "Mr. Howlett, The principal wanted to have a word with you before you left today."

Jason sighed before heading to the Principal's Office in the front left corner of the school. He arrives at the office and knocks on the door.

"Come in", a female voice sounds out.

Jason entered the surprisingly open room with what looked like marble floors, green circle in the center with for triangular arrows around it pointed to the rooms corners. A white desk with a brown leather chair near the center, where a dark haired mature woman sat.

"Jason", she says upon seeing him.

Jason takes a whiff of the air for her scent, "Raven or do you want me to say Mystique"

"Ms. Darkholme on school property", she replies.

Jason sits in the guest chair across from her in the dead center of the room.

"So, you're using your real name. You settling down?", Jason inquires the mutant spy.

"No, just no point to hide with children. What about you though?", Raven asked the feral young man.

"Never finished my schooling, and I need friends closer to my age", Jason replied, not really lying about not finishing high school while also giving a settle dig at her being older than she looked.

"Ah, but you have proven in the past that you had master degree level knowledge in the needed fields, you could just get a GED, then make friends in college with people that ARE your age.", Raven rebuked him.

Bruce's training him to be Robin included advanced knowledge in all fields, but now it was a pain, "Yeah, but there is nothing like the high school experience, and now, you and I get to spend more time together", he replied with his best charming smile.

She merely hmm'd with her hands clasped under her chin.

"Fine. Knowing you, any bullies that appear may get a beating and you'll be in my office again", she remarks.

"Knowing you, you won't care because they had it coming", Jason responds.

"You know me", she says with a smile.

Jason stands up to leave, "well, I need to go now, I need a new bed. See you later, Mystique", and leaves the room.

Her eyes shift to a yellow sclera and yellow irises, "See you soon, Wolverine".

Chapter End

AN: Many X-Men related sources will be used in this story, not just the movies and Evolution like shown here.

While it wasn't directly mentioned, Jason now has the adamantium coating on his bones and claws (all except for his teeth), which is why I decide to do the time skip, because I wanted the slice-through-everything adamantium claws ASAP, instead of dealing with the easily-broken-by-stepping-on-them bone claws for a time

I'm also not doing the amnesia thing.

PS, I chose these X-Men Dark Pheonix inspired suits as the starter outfits for now because the X-men started out with matching outfits when they were first founded. They will get their own unique suits later on. They still have their own little attachments to each outfit, which wil be written into the next chapter.

As for the name thing, I like the name "X-Men", I'm not one of the people who are all political or something about these kinds of things, I just like another name for the team more, I might take suggestions on the name, it won't be changed for a while.
