Episode 05: X Marks the Spotlight

"On the last episode of Total Drama," Chris opened, a long-distance shot of Pahkitew Island giving way to a clip of Chef clipping a shock collar onto Bridgette's neck. "It was a battle of Truth or Scare judged by Clucky the poultry polygraph," the host said as the reels landed on Zoey, who gulped as Clucky fluttered onto her lap. "Where the competitors had to tell the truth, or," Clucky was shown pressing on one of the remotes and shocking the Salmons, "complete a scary-slash-frightening challenge." The next clip showed Cameron looking wide eyed at the spider on his head, then throwing it away from her. "Failure meant, this would happen," Chris added over another shot of himself pressing the buttons on both remotes, electrocuting both teams.

"Looked like something might be, uh, brewing between Bridgette and Tyler," he said over a clip of them attempting to kiss; he laughed as Jasmine and Cameron came up out of the cover of their log. "But in the end, it was Beardo's sausage fingers that lost it for the Confused Bears," he added over a few clips of the final round, showing both Sam and Beardo struggling at first before Beardo fumbled and Sam succeeded, shocking his opponents, "and got him voted off." Beardo was shown blasting away into the night, ending the recap montage.

"Who's next to let their team down in a hilarious and hurt-y way?" Chris asked the camera. "Find out now, on Total! Drama! Paaaaaahkitew Island!"

A lilting piano tune played over the morning sun, a bluebird flying by before the camera panned down to Alejandro walking through the forest. He was juggling three bananas along the way and humming a tune.

Confessional: Alejandro

"You may be wondering why I decided to keep Leonard instead of Beardo. Here's the reason," Alejandro told the outhouse. "After my talk with Beardo during our time foraging, he started to become more social with us."

"I then realized that with his popularity among us rising, he would be able to not get voted off and that would spell trouble for my chances of staying in the game," the arch villain added. "Therefore, I manipulated Bridgette with my charms and got Leonard to vote with me."

Confessional Ends

The static cut to Justin, who was leaning against a tree and looking at his reflection in the mirror. "Looking good as always," the eye candy said to his own reflection.

"Good morning, my fellow opponent," Alejandro greeted as he passed him by.

"Good morning to you too," Justin said normally, but glared at the latin boy's direction as soon as he was out of sight.

Confessional: Justin

"Alejandro is so fake. I know his game. I pretty much own the seduction technique. He needs to be taken care of sooner than later," Justin said angrily.

Confessional Ends

The scene cut to Zoey picking blueberries off a bush. "I have my own interests such as sewing, pet grooming, and physical training," she said as she put the berries into a wicker basket. "It's just that no one understands why I like them," she continued, the camera pulling back to show her talking to Gwen.

Gwen looked back over her shoulder at her. "Personally, you should just ignore them," she told her.

Confessional: Zoey

"It was really hard coming out and I'm so happy it went well with the others, especially Gwen," Zoey smiled brightly. "People may not be able to see why, but I really think she's amazing, but… I'm not ready to tell her just yet."

Confessional Ends

"I live in a small town, and everyone is more focused on sport teams and supporting them," Zoey told Gwen as they walked back through the forest together. "I'm just not into that."

"I can see that. They're always so loud and it's basically just a minefield of sweat and testosterone," Gwen said before sticking her tongue out in disgust.

"I don't want to be friends with people by pretending to be into that stuff, so I'm pretty much friendless," Zoey sighed.

"That's kinda similar to my situation. People don't really understand why I'm a goth and I'm not exactly going to change my personality to fit their norms, so I only have a few friends," Gwen said, finding herself touching Zoey's shoulder before suddenly feeling embarrassed.

"Are you okay?" Zoey asked. "You-"

"I'm fine!" Gwen replied immediately. "I just… spaced out."

Confessional: Gwen

"I-I… I know I blushed when I touched Zoey. I'm not an idiot, I know what this means. I have a crush on Zoey. I can't help it. I said I wouldn't get attached to anybody but with Zoey, that became impossible," Gwen commented.

Confessional Ends

The footage cut back to Zoey and Gwen looking at one another. Gwen bit her lip before saying "To tell you the truth, I'm bi as well."

"Really?" Zoey widened her eyes, clearly hopeful.

"Yes, but I don't want the others to know, so I've only kept my attention on boys," Gwen explained. "If you know me, I'm mostly silent and reserved, so it was easier to hide those feelings."

"So… why are you telling me?" Zoey asked curiously.

"With you being bi like me, I thought it would make me more comfortable sharing my feelings," Gwen admitted.

"I was forced to reveal my sexuality in front of everyone, but you opened up to me on your own terms," Zoey smiled. "I admire that about you.

Their smiles were turned into confused stares by the whine of the camp intercom turning on "Wakey wakey campers," Chris announced in a taunting voice, the shot cutting away from Gwen and Zoey to show Jasmine waking up tied to her branch with rope, Sam stepping out of the door of his team's treehouse, and Leonard in a lotus position looking up from the rock he was sitting on as he saw Tyler wake up with a yawn. "Everyone gather down by the lake!"

\

The scene flashed ahead to show all ten campers walking to the lake together, sorted into their teams with the Bears in front and the Salmons in back.

The camera focused on Justin as he scowled at Alejandro's, then the shot pulled back to show Jasmine walking behind him.

"Is something the matter, mate?" Jasmine asked the eye candy after noticing his expression.

"It's just that Alejandro guy," Justin explained. "He's way more handsome and prettier than me."

"And what makes you so sure about that?" Jasmine wondered.

"Remember the Truth or Electrocution challenge? We got shocked when I said that I was the most beautiful person on this island," Justin complained. "That means something."

Confessional: Jasmine

"Knowing Chris, he's as shallow as a pond in a ditch," Jasmine critiqued. "He most likely convinced Clucky that he was the most handsome man in the world so that we could get shocked."

Confessional Ends

The camera cut to Sam and Cameron walking side by side, though Cameron was writing on a notebook. "What's up with that notebook? I've never seen you with it before," Sam said.

"I brought this notebook with me, and I'm using it to write about my surroundings," Cameron claimed.

Sam grew confused by this. "This island is mostly just trees and wildlife. I don't see anything suspicious about that," he responded.

"Maybe, but this island is definitely not what it seems," Cameron continued writing in his notebook.

Confessional: Cameron

"Living in a bubble all my life has made me extremely observant about my surroundings," Cameron explained to the camera. "If there was a bush completely filled with berries, then why haven't I noticed it? And when I woke up this morning, I spotted two trees in front of our treehouse instead of four."

Confessional Ends

The static took the scene to the Salmons, the camera focusing in on Bridgette and Tyler as they walked along in silence.

"So," Bridgette began, "nice day, right?"

"It is," Tyler answered. "For now at the moment. It'll definitely get worse once we get to the lake."

"Totally," Bridgette agreed. "I don't even want to know what kind of challenge Chris has in store for us today."

"As long as it's not getting electrocuted, I'm fine with the next challenge," Tyler said.

Confessional: Bridgette

"It's kind of awkward talking to Tyler after I voted Beardo off. Those two were good friends, and I eliminated Beardo just because of Alejandro and his thick, dark…" Bridgette started to feel lovesick, but snapped herself out of it. "What was I saying?"

Confessional Ends

The team logos appeared in the corner as the campers were shown to have arrived on the beach. Floating in the water a few feet away was a speedboat with Chef in the driver's seat, and Chris was standing atop its bow with his old red megaphone in hand.

"Today, we will be laughing as you risk your lives in the Smash, Splash, 1-2-3, X Dash!" The camera pulled back as he gave the challenge title, revealing a pair of detached wooden docks set up alongside each other in the lake. Each had a large area at one end in the color of one of the teams as well a small rack along the back side. These areas were at opposite ends of the challenge area, and extending from each was a longer, narrower platform that ran right alongside its counterpart on the opposite dock. At the far end of those platforms were smaller square platforms, dueling sticks in their respective team's color piled on top. The Bears' platform was in the foreground and their colored area was on the left; the Salmons' platform was in the background and their colored area on the right.

"Players," Chris explained as the shot cut to a vertical splitscreen of the two platforms, team icons starting on each of the colored areas and rolling along the docks 'towards' each other, "have to cross the beams, grab a dueling stick from the end of the dock," the rolling icons reached their respective dueling stick piles, "bring it back to yours, and place it on the end of the board." The shot cut to the short three-hooked rack sitting on the end of the Salmons' dock. "Two dueling sticks make an X," the host explained as a pair of green-padded sticks popped into existence leaning against one of the hooks to make an X. 'Three Xs wins the challenge," he added as two more pairs of crossed dueling sticks popped into place along the Salmons' rack.

"This is going to be interesting," Justin said, the shot cutting to him as a sly and thoughtful look appeared on his face.

"Anyone who messes with the other teams sticks," Chris leaned over to scold him, "will result in them losing the challenge."

"I take that back," Justin told him with a smile.

"Only one member may cross at a time," Chris continued. "If you land in the drink, that turn gets you no points, so use that dueling stick to swat, trip, or bat your opponent into the water. This will be awesome to see!"

"What is your deal in seeing us hurt each other?" Bridgette called out the host. "Not everything is about ratings."

"It's Chris. He obviously wouldn't care," Leonard sighed.

"Any particular order we go in?" Gwen asked.

"You decide your own order," Chris answered. "But, each team member must go at least once."

"Okay then," Jasmine agreed.

Confessional: Dakota

"So after Chris agreed to let me stay, he put a restraining order on the paparazzi! So now I'm stuck here for no reason! And worst of all, he's making me, like, work!" Dakota fussed with crossed arms. "So not cool!"

Confessional Ends

Dakota was at the beach area. She was busy collecting water from the ocean by using her two buckets to swoop the water up.

"If Chris has his own trailer, one that has a shower installed, then why am I even collecting water for him?" the fame monger mumbled as she stood up and made her way to the trailer.

"He probably needs the water for something else, but I don't know that," she finished with a sigh.

\

The shot cut to Chris being dropped off at another wooden dock by Chef, who was back in the driver's seat of the speedboat, and the host soon took a place next to the white deck chair and purple umbrella that had been set up on it. "Well, with that all settled," he told the campers as a triumphant tune played, "iiiiit's game time! Swim to your docks and wait for my signal to start."

Confessional: Cameron

Cameron was heavily writing on toilet paper with a pen. "This is the last will of I… Cameron Corduroy Wilkins!" he gulped nervously at the challenge.

Confessional Ends

The scene moved to the Bears' starting dock as Bridgette and gasped for air, then Leonard popped up on her other side. "Well then," Leonard said as he hauled himself up onto the dock, "let us be victorious in this challenge!"

Tyler and Alejandro surfaced next with the arch villain promptly pulling himself up onto the platform as well, then offered his hand to Tyler. "Come on. I'll help you up," he told the jock.

"I'm good, but thanks," Tyler told him as he easily got out of the water as well.

A quick-pan put the focus on the Salmons, all six of them now on the dock as well though dripping wet. Justin grunted in disgust, and the camera focused in on him as he shook his hair dry. "Normally, I wouldn't mind getting wet if I was in my swimsuit, but since we lost our luggage in that blimp crash, I'm very upset. I would've loved to show you all my swimsuit," he added with a look at Gwen. "Anything you want to say about that?" he asked after noticing that the goth wasn't interested.

"Not really," Gwen told him. "I honestly don't care."

"Seriously?" Justin asked in confusion. "Nothing?"

A pan to the left showed Jasmine smiling with her arms crossed. "Alright mates," she said, "who wants to go first?"

"I'll do it!" Cameron volunteered, the camera moving further to the left onto him. "I might as well get my excruciating pain over with." With that, he ran off with a frown.

Another quick-pan put the focus back on the Bears. "Allow me to go first," Leonard volunteered. "There are tough players on the opposing team, and you should be able to face them," he explained.

The piercing wail of an airhorn made him flinch, and the shot cut to Chris reclining on his chair. "Go!" he shouted, and a tense challenge tune began as Leonard ran off down his team's plank.

"Be careful, Leonard!" Bridgette called out after him.

"If there's one good thing to say about this," Cameron said as the shot cut back to him running along, "the wind breeze is really relaxing!" he smiled as he and Leonard passed each other.

Cameron was shown picking up a green dueling stick from his team's pile, then Leonard was shown picking up a red one from the opposite end of the arena. He looked back down the course, and the shot cut back to Cameron as he raised his stick high, closed his eyes, and let out a silent battle cry as he ran back along the narrow path. Leonard did the same, though his cry was much more loud, and the shot cut outward to show them running by each other without so much as taking a swipe.

"Seriously?" Chris said with an annoyed scowl from his seat. "Start hurting each other!" he yelled into his megaphone as the music turned deep and ominous. "Or I'll get bored, and that will be bad news for all of you!"

"Alright," Tyler said as the shot cut to Leonard putting his stick on the Bears' rack, "time to show these Salmons who's the man!" The jock ran off with a confident smirk.

The shot then cut to Cameron returning to his teammates. "Yes! Point for us!" he cheered.

"But they got a point too," Sam pointed out. "I'm going next," he said before running off.

Cameron hung his head in disappointment, and Jasmine put a hand on his shoulder. "If it makes you feel any better," she told him, "I appreciate your effort."

"I can do this. No problem," Tyler told himself before the shot cut outward to show him and Sam running by each other.

"Get ready to go for a swim!" Sam shouted.

"Same to you dude!" Tyler replied. The challenge music ramped up as he slid to a stop beside his team's pile and picked up a dueling stick. Sam was soon shown picking up one of his own from the opposite pile.

The shot cut to them meeting again in the center, Sam swinging his stick at Tyler only for the jock to block it with the middle of his own. "That's not gonna knock me off!" Tyler taunted as he pushed Sam's stick away, then jabbed with his own.

"I've got Deadly Combat at home, so you're outmatched!" Sam retorted, batting away the jab then swinging his stick back down at Tyler; the jock ducked under it with a startled look.

"A little better," Chris conceded as the shot cut back to him, "but I'm still bored! Release," he said into a walkie-talkie, "Scuba Bear."

The camera moved back to a close-up of Sam and Tyler pushing their sticks against each other, struggling to get the upper hand. "Wait, who?" Tyler asked in confusion, his opponent shooting a similar look back over his shoulder.

They were answered when a large brown bear wearing a diving mask and scuba tank jumped out of the water, roared, and swatted Tyler into the lake.

"Whoa!" Sam cried, looking at where the jock had fallen. Scuba Bear roared again, earning his attention and prompting him to scream and run back along the dock. Chris laughed, Sam reached his team's base, and Scuba Bear gave him a stern 'watching you' gesture. He then turned and gave the same gesture to the Bears, and the shot cut to Bridgette helping a dazed Tyler out of the water while Leonard and Alejandro shot fearful looks down the dock.

The music trilled tensely as Scuba Bear bit down on his mouthpiece then jumped backward into the lake, and the shot cut to Sam as he put his dueling stick next to the one Cameron had gotten. "Sam completes the Confused Bears' first X!" Chris announced all the while.

"Jasmine should go next," Gwen said. "She can knock any of those Bears out for sure."

"I'm not going to argue with that," Zoey said.

"I'll get going then," Jasmine agreed.

\

A flash took the shot to the Bears as Alejandro stepped forward, his back towards the rest of the docks. "Okay, I'm up," he told his teammates. He turned and dashed off, but the focus lingered on his teammates.

"How do you think he'll fare against Jasmine?" Leonard asked with wary eyes.

"I don't know, but it's gonna be off the charts," Tyler said with a smile.

The music became slightly more intense as the scene cut back to Jasmine, the shot zooming in as she raised an eyebrow. "Alejandro, you're up against me?" she asked as the camera jumped back out to show her and Alejandro approaching one another.

"And which other beautiful and stunning Amazon will I face other than you?" Alejandro said confidently as they passed each other by.

A flattered Jasmine was shown grabbing a dueling stick, then running back. "This might as well have to be a draw," she laughed awkwardly as she and her opponent approached one another. "I don't want you to get hurt."

"I'll soothe the pain for both of us!" Alejandro countered, swinging his stick at Jasmine as soon as she was close enough.

The camera pulled out to show Alejandro's dueling stick had whacked Jasmine's legs, causing her to wobble and fall into the water.

Confessional: Cameron

"I have to say, that was impressive of Alejandro," Cameron told the outhouse.

Confessional: Justin

"So Jasmine, one of the toughest players, manages to lose her guard around Alejandro?" Justin exclaimed. "What makes him so special?"

Confessional Ends

The shot cut to a close-up of Jasmine floating in the lake; shivering as she swam through the water.

"And Alejandro has found his mojo!" Chris announced with a giddy smile before the shot cut to the other members of the Bears.

"I applaud you in beating a strong competitor," Leonard told the latino as he returned with a dueling stick in hand.

"Nothing to it," Alejandro replied as he hung up the stick and completed his team's first X.

Confessional: Alejandro

"Normally, I would never harm a gentleman or a lady on my own free will, but this challenge requires us to hit each other off, so this code of honor will be put on pause," Alejandro confessed.

Confessional Ends

"And the Bears tie things up," Chris told the camera as it moved to him, the capstone theme beginning in the background, "And the Salmons' tallest member takes a hit to the legs. Will they be able to come back, or will the Bears take the lead?"

It was then that Jasmine surfaced behind her platform and pulled herself up to it. "I'll score us a point back," Justin said.

Chris looked at the camera. "See for yourselves after the break. Right here, on Total! Drama! Paaaaahkitew Island!"

\

(Commercial Break)

\

"Are you alright?" Zoey asked as the scene faded in to her helping Jasmine back onto the Salmons' starting dock.

"My legs will get better," Jasmine answered.

"Looks like it's my turn," Justin said as he ran away.

\

"Okay, I'm up," Bridgette told her team.

"Good luck!" Tyler said quickly and enthusiastically. "I mean, not like you'll need it or anything."

"Thanks!" Bridgette said with a smile before running off.

A deep, no-nonsense tune began to play as the shot cut to Bridgette and Justin passing each other by. "Good luck swimming back to your team!" Justin taunted, smiling and winking. Bridgette just focused her energy upon reaching her pile of dueling sticks.

Confessional: Bridgette

"I tend to slip up when on land instead of water, but I think I know how to use this to my benefit," Bridgette smirked.

Confessional Ends

An ominous chanting started to play as the two ran at each other once more, Justin smirking as he prepared to strike and Bridgette smiling calmly. The footage slowed down as she 'accidentally' tripped on her feet and somersaulted, sticking out her dueling stick and using it to trip Justin. The pacing returned to normal as Justin let out a startled scream, and plunged forward off the dock and into the lake.

Confessional: Bridgette

"That wasn't so hard," Bridgette laughed.

Confessional Ends

A tense tune played over a close-up of a few bubbles on the surface of the lake, Justin soon surfacing from beneath them. The camera pulled back as Scuba Bear surfaced to the left, causing Justin to scream in fear and swim off towards his team's starting dock.

"Bridgette makes it back, starting the Bears' second X," Chris announced over a shot of the surfer happily slotting her dueling stick into place. "But, they can stick to their more capable players while the Floating Salmon have two more players that have to make a run."

"I'll go again," Alejandro said and then made a run for the dueling sticks.

The shot cut to Alejandro and Gwen passing each other, then to Alejandro picking up his dueling stick. "You've got this, Alejandro!" Alejandro smiled at the sound of Tyler's voice, and the shot cut to his teammates cheering him on.

"Go, Gwen!" Zoey cheered, the next shot cutting to the Salmons all cheering on the loner.

Gwen smirked, then swung her dueling stick hard. A sharp note played as Alejandro blocked it.

"I appreciate your effort there, but I have to knock you off," Alejandro pushed his stick at her, but she didn't budge.

"I'm not going down easily," Gwen told him.

The tense challenge music resumed in full force as both began to push against each other, both trying to knock their opponent back but neither succeeding. The cheers of their teammates soon rose up over the music, and the shot cut first to the Bears and then to the Salmons again. Justin's mouth turned into a sly smirk, and then he let out a dramatic gasp. "Is that Scuba Bear behind Al?"

Alejandro immediately glanced down at the water, allowing Gwen to shove him into the water as the music finally peaked. She ran back off down the dock, and the camera panned down to Alejandro as he surfaced with an angry scowl.

"Sorry," Justin said unconvincingly as the shot moved to the Salmons, Gwen setting her dueling stick on their board in the background. "I thought the bear was there."

"The Salmon catches up!" Chris announced from his lounge chair. "Each team is halfway there, meaning there's still plenty of pain left to come."

The shot cut back to the rest of the Bears as Alejandro climbed onto the dock. "And there goes our chance of winning," Tyler remarked.

"Chin up. I did the best I could," Alejandro told him. "Justin played a trick on me, and it caught me off guard."

"I did not think Justin could be so sneaky," Leonard added.

"I should go next," Tyler spoke up, stepping forward. "I'll definitely get us the point."

Confessional: Alejandro

"Sadly, I highly doubt his physical capabilities," Alejandro commented.

Confessional Ends

"My turn," Zoey told her teammates before running off, a slow but tense tune beginning in the background. The camera cut to her and Tyler passing each other, the redheaded girl giving her opponent a quick wave. "I won't hurt you badly!" she said.

The shot cut to a close-up of Tyler's face as he grinned. "Luckily, I won't get eaten!"

Tyler was shown grabbing his dueling stick from the pile, then he took a deep breath and started running. The camera pulled out to show him running back along the dock...

...then Zoey appeared from the left, and the music spiked as she smacked Tyler into the water with ease as she passed by.

"And the Salmon completes their second X!" Chris announced from the sidelines.

The rest of the Salmon were cheering as the shot cut to Zoey rejoining them, adding her stick to their rack with a grin on her face. "That was fun!" she cheered.

"Easy for you to say," Justin said. "That guy trips on thin air."

"She did good, Justin," Jasmine scolded. "Don't undermine her. Now I'm gonna go next," she said as she walked forward.

"I know you can do this," Justin called out.

Confessional: Cameron

"Justin looks to be slimy in my book," Cameron stated. "I'll keep a close eye on him."

Confessional Ends

"Get ready to take a swim, mate," Jasmine said as the shot cut to her and Leonard running past each other, the music once again becoming low and tense.

"Not today!" Leonard countered.

The shot cut to Leonard reaching his team's pile of dueling sticks, but the camera panned over to the rest of the Salmons waiting nearby. "Hey Gwen," Justin said in a suave voice. "I want to talk to you."

"What is it?" Gwen grunted.

"I think I should sit out for the rest of the challenge," Justin suggested. "I don't want to lose any of my modeling contracts back home." He batted his eyelashes seductively.

Gwen just raised an eyebrow at him.

"Now you know, I don't just bat these eyelashes at anybody," Justin continued and batted his eyelashes again.

The camera moved back to the side as Gwen didn't look impressed.

Justin blinked, taken slightly off-guard. "Nothing? When was your last eye exam?"

\

Once more, the tense challenge music resumed as the static cut away to show Jasmine and Leonard clashing with dueling stick pressed against dueling stick. "Hey, you're not bad yourself!" the Australian girl said.

"I'm using all of my muscle power," Leonard replied.

"I've lived in the Outback since birth. My experiences toughen me up for this," Jasmine said, the camera moving behind Leonard as she started rotating her stick. She swung at Leonard's side, causing the LARPer to fall into the water.

The footage skipped ahead to Jasmine rejoining her cheering team. She placed her dueling stick on their rack. "And with that," Chris announced, "the Floating Salmon needs only one more dueling stick to win!"

The Confused Bears groaned as the shot cut to them. "Okay, guys, I'll step up," Bridgette said and stepped forward while Leonard was helped up by Alejandro.

\

A flash took the scene back to the Floating Salmon as Gwen stepped forward. "I'll just get this over with," she said and went towards her opponent.

"Good luck, Gwen!" Zoey supported her.

The shot cut to Gwen and Bridgette passing one another on the docks. "Enjoy swimming in the water, surfer girl," Gwen deadpanned at her opponent.

They both reached their piles of dueling sticks, and they started running towards one another with dueling sticks in hand. A dramatic riff suddenly played, and Scuba Bear leaped from the water and landed in front of Gwen with a roar.

"Oh, wow!" Bridgette exclaimed with wide-eyed shock before running off.

"You know I have a dueling stick," Gwen said as the camera panned back to her facing off with Scuba Bear, "and I won't hurt you with it if you let me pass."

Scuba Bear looked down at the goth with a blank look, then roared ferociously and brought his right forepaw down hard on her. Gwen had to quickly block with her dueling stick, but Scuba Bear hit her in the belly with his left forepaw, knocking her into the water.

"Ahahahahaha!" Chris laughed as the shot cut back to him. "That's what I wanted to see. You're the best, Scuba Bear."

The shot cut back to Scuba Bear glaring towards the host, then grunting and jumping back into the water.

The Bears were all cheering as the camera cut back to them, Bridgette rejoining them and placing her dueling stick on their rack. "And the Confused Bears make their second X!" Chris announced from off-screen. "They're catching up, but they still have to be careful."

"I'm next," Tyler volunteered as he and his teammates looked away from the direction of the host.

"Not to be negative, but didn't you get knocked off twice?" Alejandro asked.

"But this time, I know what to do," Tyler said.

\

Sam hauled Gwen up out of the water and onto their dock. "Despite what just happened, we're still in the lead," Jasmine said.

"Exactly," Cameron said. "We only need one more dueling stick to win this, so we-"

"I'm on it!" Sam announced with enthusiasm before running off.

"But we need a plan first!" Cameron tried to say.

The intense challenge music resumed once more as the scene cut to Tyler and Sam passing one another on the narrow dock. Sam was shown eagerly picking up his dueling stick, then Tyler was shown looking confident as he picked up his, and finally the two were running back towards each other.

"Alright!" Sam cheered, raising his stick high. "Time to win this!"

"I'm going to have to stop you there," Tyler countered as the camera swung around to him.

The music spiked as Sam swung his dueling stick, only for Tyler to duck under it and out of sight. "Huh?" he muttered in surprise, just before the camera panned down to Tyler and showed him crouching. He thrust his dueling stick at Sam's legs, knocking them out from under him, causing the curly-haired boy to fall onto his belly with a crash, landing on the side of the dock. A second blow moments later, this time to the face, pushed him backwards and into the water.

Tyler smiled and continued running. His teammates cheered as he rejoined them, and the camera quickly focused on Bridgette. "Great job out there, Tyler," she said.

\

"Tie game!" Chris announced, the music becoming tense yet again. "Next dueling stick on the board is for the win!"

"I'll take this one," Alejandro said as the shot cut to the Bears. "Whoever I'm up against should be weaker."

"I won't argue with that," Leonard agreed.

Alejandro smiled and ran off.

\

A flash took the scene to the Salmons as Justin narrowed his eyes. "If he's going, then I am," he declared, running off before the others could object.

Tense music started as the camera cut to Justin and Alejandro running past one another. "Get ready to be knocked away!" Justin called out.

"Whatever you say," Alejandro replied, narrowing his eyes in a close-up.

The shot cut to Justin as he arrived at his team's pile of sticks and grabbed one. Alejandro grabbed a stick as well, and the two boys ran towards each other.

Just when they were about to hit each other, Justin cried out "Not the face!" he yelped, upon seeing Alejandro raise his stick high and swing it hard. "Or the neck, hands, legs, knees, feet, or anything in the chestial region!"

Justin crouched into a ball, and Alejandro looked at him in confusion before smiling and whacking his opponent onto the lake.

"That was easy enough!" Alejandro cheered as Justin surfaced with a splutter. "Thanks for the win," he taunted.

The music spiked dramatically as Scuba Bear burst up from the left, splintering a portion of the Bears' dock as he broke through it and landed behind Alejandro. He roared and swiped at the arch villain, but he quickly ran off with a terrified scream. The camera lingered as he grunted in disappointment, then looked towards Justin who yelped and swam off.

"The Confused Bears wins!" Chris announced through his megaphone, and the shot cut to Bridgette, Leonard, and Tyler cheering as Alejandro placed his dueling stick on the board to complete their third and final X.

Then the shot cut over to the Salmons groaning, Justin joining in as Gwen helped her out of the water. "What was that all about?" the loner said.

"Like I said, I couldn't risk losing my modeling contracts," Justin smiled big, much to the unamusement of Gwen and even Zoey.

The footage skipped ahead to a shot of Dakota sleeping next to a tree. She was hunched over, and she snored at times.

This was until Chef came over and saw the girl on the floor. Rolling his eyes, he brought two fingers to his mouth a blew out a whistle loud enough to startle Dakota awake.

"Huh?! What-where am I?!" Dakota yelped.

"You're on a reality show, where you're supposed to be working as an intern," Chef stated.

"I fell asleep after I did my tasks for today," Dakota sighed. "Work is really grueling."

"Tell that to someone who cares," Chef grunted. "If you're gonna go to sleep, don't do it out in the open. You already have a trailer to sleep in with the other interns, so march on over there."

Confessional: Justin

"I know I'm the most likely to be eliminated, but I've got everything under control," Justin reassured. "Zoey and Gwen have been hanging out, so I won't bother with them. Sam and Cameron were easy to convince into voting with me, and that just leaves Jasmine."

Confessional Ends

The static took the scene to the treehouse, where Jasmine was fortifying the treehouse by hammering in nails. She let out a breath of relief when she finished, then looked behind as she saw Justin, without his shirt, walking in her direction.

"Hey Jasmine," Justin said suavely. "We need to talk?"

The camera panned down his well-muscled torso as his leitmotif played, and Jasmine simply nodded with her jaw dropped to the floor.

"I want to talk about the vote," Justin said. "I know I messed up, but I can rebound from that."

All Jasmine could do was nod.

"That's why we should vote off Gwen," Justin continued. "She doesn't really do much for us, and she's way too distant from us.'

Once again, Jasmine just nodded with her mouth agape.

"That's great," Justin smiled. "See you at the ceremony tonight."

The elimination theme began to play as the footage skipped forward to the usual shot of the nighttime island. All six Floating Salmon were already seated on the logs and rocks and barrels, Zoey and Gwen sitting on a particularly long one in front with Justin off to the right and Cameron, Sam, and Jasmine seated in back. Chris was standing at his podium, and the Confused Bears were standing beside him.

"To the victors, go the spoils," Chris announced as the camera cut to him and the Confused Bears. "Compliments of Spoiley's Secondhand Food Emporium," he said, a game show jingle playing as he took out a greasy paper bag with the image of a spotty and half-eaten apple on the side, and presented it to the winning team. "Where one man's trash, is another man's tapeworm," he told the camera with a cheesy grin. "Think fast!" he said before tossing it to the Bears, Tyler catching it as he and his teammates recoiled in disgust.

"Now," Chris said as the footage moved back to him and the plate of marshmallows he was holding, "one of you gots to go. Cameron," he tossed the first marshmallow to the boy who caught it effortlessly, "Jasmine, Sam, and Zoey, you're safe," he tossed the next marshmallows to the three mentioned.

The camera focused on the final two campers. "Justin, Gwen, one of you will be staying for another day," the host said over their anticipated faces, "and that won't be Gwen today. Here you go, Justin."

Justin caught his marshmallow, and Gwen gaped in shock. "You all voted for me?!" the goth girl wondered.

"Sorry," Cameron said meekly while Sam rubbed the back of his head nervously.

"Nothing personal, but you're too isolating," Sam admitted.

"I didn't vote for you, if it makes you feel any better," Zoey said.

Gwen smiles after hearing that. "That honestly makes me feel better. Thanks Zoey."

"I do wish you were still here, but there's nothing we can do about it now," Zoey sighed.

"I understand, but it was nice to be your friend even if it was for a short while," Gwen said genuinely.

"As heartwarming as this is," Chris said, "it's time for you to ride the cannon."

A flash took the scene to the Cannon of Shame, Gwen loaded into its barrel. "I don't have any last words, so press the button already" she said as the somber farewell theme played in the background.

"Harsh," Chris said as the camera panned down to him and the remote in his hand, "but your wish is my command," he said with a smile before happily pressing the button, Gwen being shot into the night.

Confessional: Justin

"I had to get rid of Gwen," Justin revealed. "She's hard to talk to, and with her gone, I can get Zoey to vote with me without any obstacles."

Confessional Ends

The capstone theme began to play as the scene moved back to Chris, still standing by the Cannon of Shame. "And that's another elimination down," he told the camera with a smile. "Wanna know who's next to be gone? It won't be long! Right here, on Total! Drama! Paaaaaaaahkitew Island!"
