The next day the third years were looking forward to DaDa. They had been promised a fun lesson. Professor Lupin's lessons after the first week were some of the most anticipated at least in the lower years.

Once Rose and Harry were both in the class professor Lupin pulled them aside.
"Before we start this lesson I need to know what you consider to be your worst fear."

The question had both Harry and Rose confused. After a little time thinking Rose was sure she knew what she feared the most at the moment and told Lupin who nodded his head accepting the answer. For Harry it took a little longer but he thought he too had an answer.

With this done Lupin led the students out of the class and toward the staff room. Once there Lupin introduced the class to a boggart. Despite having to face their worst fears the lesson was incredibly fun. That was until Rose approached the Boggart.

The Boggart seemed to appraise Rose for some time before morphing into a dead Harry, beside him a Dead Capella. Despite knowing that Harry was safe right next to her, the panic that set in clouded her judgement. Lupin, who was watching ready to step in, was currently waiting, wanting to see if Rose could do it.

Rose, who was almost to the point of breaking down, was suddenly assaulted by a feeling of calmness. It was like receiving a hug but looking around no one was hugging her. Rose instantly knew this feeling was Capella's hug.

Without wasting time analysing what just happened Rose shouted "Ridiculous!" The dead bodies suddenly stood up and Capella was laughing at Harry. For a moment it wasn't clear what was happening until Harry's clothes started shrinking.

Harry was feeling thoroughly embarrassed seeing his bare chest and legs shown to the class as it looked like Harry was going to be exposed. The effects stopped, it was still enough to have the class laughing and looking at Harry.

Rose could hear Lavender Brown questioning if Harry was actually Muscly like the boggart had been. Not wanting to hear that about her brother Rose tried to feel that hug again but the feeling had passed.

After the scene that had just occurred Lupin was hesitant to let Harry step up but seeing the determined look Lupin let him. This proved to be a bad Idea for the second the Boggart saw Harry, it twisted into the form of Lord Voldemort. Since Harry had not been old enough to remember what Voldemort looked like it took the form of Tom Riddle.

Most people in the class had no idea why Harry was scared of a student that despite wearing a Slytherin uniform did not attend the school. Lupin must have been informed who this was because he stood in front of the form of Riddle forcing the boggart to change into a Moon, most people mistaking it for a balloon since Lupin had made it wizz around the room like air out of a balloon.

The class was dismissed after this and not waiting to waste anytime Rose headed to the potions class knowing Capella was in this class. Once outside Rose slumped against the wall and tried once more to understand just what had happened.

After being slumped on a cold, damp wall for fifteen minutes Rose was glad that Capella came out. The look that Capella gave Rose told her she knew something had passed between them.

Wanting some privacy to talk, the two Girls went to the kitchens.

Capella, knowing what she had felt was real, threw her arms around Rose the moment they entered the kitchens. The elves seemed to smile seeing this and went about preparing food for their guests.

"Want to tell me what freaked you out so bad?" Capella asked refusing to let Rose go.

"You and Harry were dead before me." To say Capella was shocked would be an understatement.

"How could I be dead before you? I don't even share a class with you." Rose, seeing that her comment was not clear, told Capella about the boggart. Once Capella understood she kissed Rose lightly and smiled at her.

"I calmed you down right?" She asked after a short time.

"How did you do it?"

"I really don't know. I was in potions and I felt this intense dread, fear and sadness. I don't know how but I knew that it was your feelings but I knew they weren't mine. Not knowing what to do, I couldn't just get up and leave, I just thought really hard about hugging you."

"You know how crazy that sounds right? You felt my feelings?" Rose said to Capella but somehow believing every word.

"You know I am not lying, I can feel your acceptance of what I am telling you." Capella said, giving a small kiss to Rose's cheek.

"I've never heard of magic like this." Rose said to Capella feeling a little uneasy not understanding what was happening.

"Let's eat some food. The elves are looking a little sad that we are not eating." Rose added after a few moments.

After eating the food offered Rose felt a little better. Despite being full neither Rose or Capella had any desire to leave the room. They were quite surprised when Sirius entered the room a little while later. Rose and Capella, who had been holding each other, jumped apart in shock.

"I see you can't keep your hands off my daughter." Sirius laughed sitting down next to the girls.

"My old pal Remus tells me you had a rough DaDa lesson?" He asked Rose after a moment.

"Did he tell you what I saw?" Rose asked. Sirius looked at Capella before nodding his head.

"He did. He also told me you went from being a deer in headlights to a panther ready to pounce." He told the girls, it was clear he was curious and seeking answers.

"Daddy It's not like you to fish for answers. What do you know?" Capella asked, looking at him.

Sirius smiled at his Daughter and shook his head.
"You're becoming quite the smartie pants."

"Daddy." Capella stated warningly.

"From what Remus said happened, it looked like someone else calmed you down. He is right isn't he?"

"It sounds crazy uncle Sirius but Capella could feel my reaction and she sent me calming feelings by hugging me but not physically."

Upon hearing this Sirius pulled a mirror from his pocket. "Sounds like that right?" he asked, leaving the girls wondering what "that" was.

"It can't be love, one hasn't shown up in years" The voice on the other end said.

"Rose please think of something and not tell anyone what it is. Capella, I want you to tell us if you feel you know what Rose is thinking."

Rose, who was feeling kind of silly doing this suddenly thought of Harry's clothes shrinking. A short minute later Capella started laughing.

"What is funny Capella?" Sirius asked, looking between her and Rose.

"I was just imagining Harry's clothes shrinking until they tore and no longer fit him." She replied and stopped laughing. "Sorry not the time."

"Erm, maybe it is.. That is what I was thinking." Rose said, shocked and looking at the mirror.

"Why would you be thinking that?" Marlene asked, temporarily forgetting the exercise.

"When I got my courage from Capella's hug I made my Boggaet Capella shrink Harry's clothes."

"I want to see that memory." Sirius said laughing. Sirius' comment seemed to remind Marlene they were doing something serious.

"Sirius, we need to find a core expert." Marlene said, bringing them back on topic.

"Aunt Marlene you clearly know something me and Capella don't will you stop being cryptic."

Rose said, feeling her anger rise from all the roundabout talk.

"It is known that wizards and Witches have a magical core." Marlene started trying to word it in a way the children would understand.

"These cores grow as you learn to manipulate magic. On very rare occasions two magical cores connect to each other. The circumstances leading up to this connection vary. One instance happened upon a marriage, another when a man saved his wife from death, nearly dying himself."

"People consider it a myth." Sirius added when his wife took a breath.

"Several instances have been recorded however. Such a rare occurrence is, some wizards spend their entire life studying and checking cores hoping to find one."

"And we have one?" Capella asked, putting the pieces together.

"We have no way of knowing until it is checked. But people with connections like this have recorded sharing feelings and sometimes thoughts like this. Remus, who loves to study, claims your change was too sudden for it to be anything else."

As Sirius told the girls listening, both were hooked listening. It seemed too out there not to be true.

"Do you know anyone who can check?" Rose asked.

"Well I have no doubt Allbus could, other than him I don't really have a clue. The Flamel's, Probably. They are supposedly connected, good luck contacting them though."

"What do we do, ask Professor Dumbledore?" Capella asked.

"Let me try to find someone else first. I would like this secret kept and don't know who Albus would tell." Sirius responded looking into the mirror for his wife's approval.

"Does anything change for us?" Rose asked now curious about this topic.

"Other than sharing feelings and apparently thoughts with Capella I don't think anything would change." Sirius responded though Rose felt like that wasn't the whole truth, the look Capella gave him suggested that she too did not believe they had the full story.

"Well if nothing is going to change we should probably get started on tonight's homework." Rose said more to Capella than Sirius and Marlene.

"You're such a swot. But I know you won't take no for an answer." Capella responded and after kissing her dad on the cheek took Rose's hand.

"See you later Uncle Sirius." Rose added as she was pulled from the room.

"If they were older I would be convinced they were off to snog in a closet." Sirius said to his wife as the children left the room. Rose, who had heard, turned to Capella and winked.

"Not a bad idea either.'' This caused Capella to blush, Rose made a mental note that she was not disagreeing.

The fact that Sirius was in fact innocent and had been unlawfully imprisoned was having a major backlash upon the ministry of magic. Barty Crouch, who had been presiding over the Wizenagmot at the time, was facing much of the attention and was rarely seen, not wanting to face the press. This unfortunately put a lot of pressure on the current minister.

In an effort to show that he was still a capable Minister Fudge was watching the Pettigrew situation closely. Seeing this as a chance to show he was incharge and move some pressure onto Albus, Fudge put out a press release that due to Albus letting Pettigrew escape he would have to intervene.

Fudge was convinced that Pettigrew was somehow hiding in Hogwarts, he claimed because no reports on him had come in anywhere else. Deciding this must be the case Fudge sent Dementors to guard every entrance and exit to the school.

This caused quite a bit of upset with the parents and teachers but Fudge would not relent. He was sure this would catch Pettigrew and would not listen to anyone else.

Thankfully the dementors stayed away from the students, the only time the students really saw them was when they went to Herbology and could see them in the distance.

It was fast approaching the 19th of September. Just a few days before Harry and after a little complaint Ron too, approached Rose as they were leaving potions. Hermione who had been acting a little skittish had already started walking away seemingly not noticing that her two friends had stopped.

After the meeting at Greengrass manor Neville and Ernie had been spending more time around Rose and Harry their families were trying to see just what kind of people the potters and Blacks were, so when Harry stopped Rose they too stood close by.

"I don't know if you have noticed as much as we have , but Hermione is running herself ragged. She claims she has been going to all the elective lessons and despite asking she won't tell us how." Harry started.

"It's mind boggling." Ron added.

"I had noticed she seemed a little wired, but I don't get why you're telling me." Rose questioned looking between her brother and Ron.

"Told you she wouldn't care." Ron announced and started to leave. This caused Harry to grab his arm, keeping him there, he was fed up with Ron disliking his sister.

"The reason that we are telling you is that her birthday is this Sunday and we are going to throw her a party to take her mind off studies and force her to take a break."

Upon hearing this reply from Harry Rose thought for a moment before speaking.

"Sounds like a good idea. Where are you planning on having it? Since you are telling me I assume it won't be in the Gryffindor common room."

"Well we aren't too sure yet. We were thinking about asking Professor Lupin to borrow his classroom."

"Harry, who exactly are you inviting? Just me or can my friends come too?" Rose was looking at Ron as she asked this daring him to say something, thankfully he didn't.

"Well you and Capella are rarely apart so she is a given. Daphne Is now a friend of the family so I was going to invite her, maybe Astoria too. Maybe Neville and Ernie are behind you? The Weasly's apart from Percy are coming too."

Harry stopped for a moment looking at Ron.

"I miss anyone?"

"Ginny said she was going to invite Loony Lovegood." Ron replied before looking at his watch.

"We should get to lunch. I'm starving."

"I will ask Daphne and Astoria when I get to the common room later, let me know if Professor Lupin says yes."

Lupin had said yes and so early Sunday morning saw Harry, Rose, Capella and Ron decorating the DADA classroom. The classroom was quite large and took a while to decorate but by lunch they were pleased with their efforts.

The party having been sprung on Rose quite late meant that she had not gotten Hermione a gift, in the spirit of wanting to put the past in the past Rose wanted to give Hermione something and so after lunch Rose made her way to the kitchens.

The elfs had been asked to provide food for the part, they of course we're all too happy to provide. Rose decided however to make a birthday cake herself. It was quite hard persuading the elfs to use their facilities but somehow Rose managed it, though the elves were keeping keen supervision.

The end result was a large vanilla and coconut cake, which was kind of heavy and needed a floating charm to carry safely.

At three pm all of Hermione's guests were gathered, except Ron and Harry who were bringing Hermione, in the DADA room. Professor Lupin was around too.

Hermione was not all too happy about being taken away from her homework and could be heard complaining to Ron and Harry through the door. Once the door was open all complaints were forgotten as a deafening "Happy Birthday" filled the room.

Hermione, who had never been the most popular girl, was stunned into silence; it was clear she was emotional and unsure how to respond. After a quick and rare hug from Harry she stammered her thanks to the room.

Fred and George had apparently snuck out of the castle earlier that day and had provided a vast amount of Butterbeer which was being consumed in copious quantities as people gathered to talk and enjoy the party.

Hermione made sure to personally thank everyone for coming and was surprised to see a table in the corner of the room ladened with presents. A lot of the presents consisted of books but that seemed to please Hermione. Despite loving the books she had received she wondered if that was all she showed interest in around the people gathered. Pushing this thought out of her mind Hermione was brought to the cake so she could cut it for her guests.

Upon hearing that the cake had been made by Rose, Hermione felt happy and hoped that this was a good sign for their friendship moving forward.

The party lasted well into the evening with everyone having fun and Hermione even managed to get Ron to dance with her one time. Seeing this Ginny was emboldened to ask Harry to dance which he accepted despite his two left feet.

Fifteen minutes before curfew Lupin sent the children back to their dorms. Looking around his classroom he was very glad that it would not be him that needed to clean up after the party, he momentarily pitied the elfs that would.

The next month passed by in a relative calm. Pettigrew had not been sighted since and Dumbledore was fighting Fudge hard to remove the Dementors but having no luck.

Slytherin were the first to play this Quidditch season against Hufflepuff. It was clear that the other houses were now taking into consideration the different playstyles that had been employed in the previous years. Unfortunately for Rose she was still a reserve and did not get a chance to play this game. Slytherin still won but Malfoy was unbearable for the next few days gloating that she had not helped the team in any way and her presence was not needed.

The first Hogsmeade visit was the weekend after the game and Rose was torn between going into the beautiful village and staying in the castle since Capella could not yet go. In the end the decision was made for her.

Professor Dumbledore pulled her and Harry aside at breakfast the morning of the visit and asked them both to stay in the castle. Neither was particularly happy with the request, especially Harry who had plans to go with Ron and Hermione.

Sirius had tried to fight Dumbledore's decision but he would not listen, his reasoning was that Pettigrew had already killed thirteen innocents and Dumbledore would not risk more if Pettigrew tried to attack Harry and Rose.

Seeing that Harry was rather upset at being told he could not go, Rose decided to spend the day with him. Despite being good friends and siblings they had not really spent too much time alone.

The two spent the morning flying on the quidditch pitch, Rose was eager to prove she could fly just as well as Harry. This was in fact quite a true statement with the exception being Harry was far more daring and enjoyed dives and challenging manoeuvres.

After lunch Harry and Rose found an abandoned classroom and decided to duel each other. Thanks to spending the summer practising the fight lasted some time and the two seemed evenly matched. The fight was eventually won by Harry, his pinpoint accuracy with spells was too much for Rose.

So caught up in their fight neither noticed the bald rat faced man watching them from the doorway. Seeing the two fighting had scared the man and made him temporarily forget why he had followed them.

He was just about to attack the two Potters when a red spell narrowly missed his ear, he spun round and instantly sent a killing curse at his attacker. Fred thankfully dropped to the ground quick enough for the curse to miss.

The spellfire had drawn the attention of Harry and Rose. Pettigrew now realising four wands were pointed in his direction transformed and started running fast as his legs would carry him.

George, who was checking on his brother, was slow to start following and lost sight of the rat pretty easily. Rose and Harry were able to keep up for a little while but their duelling had been intense and both were in no shape to keep up with the rat that was surprisingly fast and able to manoeuvre between people with ease.

Pettigrew was able to give them the slip and by the time Fred and George caught up they reported Pettigrew had made it to the edge of the forest. They knew finding him there would be impossible and decided they needed to tell Dumbledore, on the way to his office they made sure to mirror call Sirius.

Sirius was shocked to hear that his wards had attempted to apprehend Pettigrew and was torn between wanting to scold them for being reckless and praise them for being brave. He settled for both scolding them for taking on a dangerous criminal and hugging them thankful they were not hurt.

Molly Weasly, who had been called by Dumbledore, was furious when she found out that a killer was able to get into the school and nearly kill her son. It was only due to Dumbledore being a smooth talker her children were allowed to stay in the school.

Once Rose had returned to her common room she was assaulted by Capella who was furious that Rose had done something so dangerous. Unable to control how scared she had been, Capella cried in her girlfriend's arms.
