Atargate O'Neill 9

After some time, the missions continued and Jack could not find anything relevant, although he changed his attitude and treatment towards his team, stopping making jokes with them and making it his goal not to bother Daniel, even if the hippie ran off to get them into some trouble. He already had the solution to this, which was to run off in the opposite direction. That way, the Hippie would be the only one to suffer the consequences of his stupidity and the rest of the team would just watch from afar, bemoaning their miserable fate.

As for the second step of his plan of salvation, it was not going very well. He had been in this world for about eight months and still could not find the ancient ruins with the repository of knowledge he needed, which was the most important part of his plan. From what little he remembered of the original story, that had to happen before the Asgard decided to add Earth to the list of protected planets, so he had to be within a few months or no more than two years from the beginning of the story. He had been there almost half the time already and was sure he hadn't missed any ancient ruins with an inscription on the wall.

He had also checked other missions of other teams to see if they were assigned to any ancient ruins, but found nothing. Nor was it likely, because he was still pressing Daniel to translate the tablet they found on Abydos, and any references to that language found by other teams would come directly to him. Therefore, Jack was reasonably sure he hadn't overlooked it.

The next mission took him by surprise because he didn't remember how it started and it was too generic. They were in some kind of swampy forest and came across a man running from something, but they couldn't identify what he was running from, so they decided to take him to the portal.

The next thing Jack knew, he was in a dark courtroom, with a spotlight over his head, bemoaning his bad luck and bad memory, because he knew that whatever he said, those wretched aliens judging him from the darkness would send him to their subway root prison.

A few minutes later, just as he thought, he was thrown into the prison where they would meet the devourer of worlds.

Jack sighed at the sight of the gloomy place, there were even some smoking boots that still had feet inside, and a man grabbed them as if they were a great treasure.

-Carter, get back here," Jack ordered as Carter tried to approach the man.

-Sir, I'm just trying to get some information about the place," Carter explained. Jack shook his head.

-Carter, this place is a prison. It's full of thugs, murderers, lowlifes, depraved people, and considering the legal procedure they used to send us here, there should also be a significant number of people as unlucky as we are," Jack explained with a sigh. There's nothing to find out about them that doesn't have to do with how we're going to get out of here, so please stick together," Jack asked politely.

As before he would have just looked at Carter menacingly and ordered him back without explaining anything, his team was still looking at him strangely, but they didn't have time to ask anything else because the room where the portal was was surrounded by goons, led by a big goon who, by his belly, was the only one with excess food.

Jack remembered that there was such a guy, and that if you beat him up you became a leader. Jack looked the guy up and down. Fat, stocky, barbarian-faced, maybe he had fleas and looked like he could take on a bull hand to hand. Then he looked at himself. He wasn't skinny, but no one would say he had an athletic body. He didn't exercise and of fighting he only knew what was in O'Neill's memories because he hadn't practiced other than with his weapon. As for his godlike powers or invincible fighting skills, which he could use when he had his super human abilities….

It was better not to even think about that, because it only made him feel frustrated. Jack concluded that if he attacked the mastodon he would end up pulped.

Jack also remembered that this guy served Linea and that the sinister old woman must be nearby, with a very dangerous weapon in her hand. If they tried to take care of their thug, they would end up seriously injured because she didn't know their worth and would intervene to protect her interests, knocking them out or doing worse to them. In this situation, the destroyer of worlds had guns pointed at their heads and they had to behave.

-Hand over the woman," the thug snarled menacingly.

Blondes always make bullies lose their minds, Jack thought, stopping Teal'c's advance lest the destroyer of worlds cause him brain damage or worse, and looked at Daniel.

-Daniel, please explain to these good people who we are and why we are here," Jack ordered.

-Jack, stop talking like that, you're scaring me," Daniel complained in a whisper as he stepped forward and began to explain who they were and how they got here. Jack grimaced as he spoke and looked at Carter and Teal'c.

-"Sir, I'll settle for you explaining things like you did before, and I guess Daniel just wants me to stop holding him by the collar," Carter explained.

-O'Neill, your new way of talking to us is certainly… disturbing," Teal'c confirmed.

He was speaking to them in a polite manner, that they found it jarring meant that they saw him as an uncultured thug, a sort of lazy slacker who took advantage of his position to do what he wanted… Jack realized that that was exactly his way and shrugged.

-"Well, if it's all right with you," said Jack, back to being his usual crook self. He saw that Daniel had had no success and the enraged thug was preparing to assault him with a blow, when a kindly voice was heard from afar, ordering him to stop.

Jack watched the old psycho's whole act with boredom and let Carter and Daniel do the talking. When he finished introducing himself and taking Carter under his protection, Linea left and then the rest of the prisoners.

-Well, now we must find a power source to activate the portal and escape from here. We already did it on Catherine's fiancé's planet, and we'll do it again here," Jack explained and everyone nodded.

-Sir, I think we should ask Linea," suggested Carter and Jack nodded.

-Let's go get her then, stay close together. Teal'c to the front. When we locate her, Carter will explain our needs, without revealing anything about procedure or theory. We can't trust anyone in this place," Jack ordered, and Carter nodded. Jack didn't even want to imagine what would happen if Linea knew the method to get out of there without them.

As Jack knew, Linea had a method of powering the door and they quickly came to an agreement. She showed them her reactor or whatever it was that worked on the basis of nuclear fusion, and Carter agreed that it would work.

Linea told them the time in which they were to act and they were simply to wait for her to finish her preparations.

Jack left Carter and Daniel with her to keep them out of trouble, and went to roam the place with Teal'c, who would defend him from the thugs while he slept to rest. Jack would not, under any circumstances, think of sleeping next to Linea, for he knew how dangerous, cunning and abominable that old woman was.

Teal'c kept watch while he slept, and Jack awoke a good while later to the activation of the portal and the commotion of the prisoners. The food had arrived and Linea took a break to take his plate. The thug left them for last to establish his authority, but the truth was that things were under control, because the food was enough for everyone.

The thug was a common gangster, but he kept order and Jack did nothing to challenge him, because they were just passing through. In the end, Teal'c offered him a plate and Jack shook his head, because the food was some kind of gray, vomitous paste. He would have to go at least three days without eating to be encouraged to try something like that.

After a while, Linea informed them that everything was ready and they would wait for the next shipment of food through the portal, when the prisoners were occupied and dispersed, to escape. Daniel already had the most appropriate direction to do so and everything was ready, so they left the place without incident.

Upon exiting the portal, the team encountered SG-3, which was on a mission on that planet. They did not dial Earth because all their equipment had been taken from them and they would hit the iris if they tried to enter. Jack left his team behind with Linea, who was anxious to get to Earth, and went to brief SG-3's leader and ask them for one of their iris bracelets.

-People, we're going home. Daniel, dial," Jack ordered, and Daniel began dialing while Carter went over to explain the whole procedure to Linea, and she saw the direction to Earth without noticing Jack pull out a Zat gun and shoot her in the back.

-Teal'c, leave her in the buff, I don't want to see anything on her that isn't skin. Carter, give her a "deep" inspection, I don't want any surprises," Jack ordered, but the only one who moved at lightning speed and started stripping Linea, even removing her head bow and examining her hair, was Teal'c.

-Sir, what is going on? -Carter asked with some indignation at Teal'c's brutality.

SG-3 also came over to watch and were shocked by her actions, but they did not move forward, Jack had already informed them that the old woman was a dangerous psychopath and that she was armed.

-O'Neill, I think I got what you were looking for," Teal'c said, handing her a small circular shaped device hidden in one of the sleeves of the dress he ripped off Linea. Carter and Daniel looked at the device in surprise.

-"Carter, this woman's nickname is 'The Destroyer of Worlds', with that I guess that's enough for you to imagine how dangerous she is. We must not underestimate what she is capable of at all. Now, please do as I have instructed, it is something of vital importance to the safety of Earth," said Jack, pointing to the naked old woman.

-Do you have gloves? -Carter asked SG-3, who had already taken a step back when Jack mentioned the psychopathic old woman's nickname.

After ten minutes, Carter finished his inspection of the old woman, finding two foreign capsules in her mouth and three others in her private parts, plus two under her skin. Both teams were stunned as they packed and sealed the items in multiple bags.

-Do we have anesthesia to keep her asleep? I want her to arrive unconscious in the infirmary and have Dr. Fraiser examine her body with an electron microscope," Jack said, and everyone looked at him.

-Sir, if you think she's that dangerous, I don't think we should take her to Earth," Carter advised, and the others nodded apprehensively. Jack grimaced.

-Carter, I agree with you, but we have no other options. Leaving her on another planet is a risk to the entire galaxy, including Earth. You saw for yourself how interested this madwoman was in the gate system, I'm afraid she's up to no good.

"As for returning her to prison, she already knows how to escape from there. We don't have the address either, and we can't ask those crazy people who locked us up, if they find out that we not only freed their most dangerous prisoner, but also taught her how to escape from their most secure prison, they will execute us the least," Jack concluded, and Daniel nodded hastily in agreement. Our only option is to take her to Earth and hand her over to the NID, after we make sure she's not hiding some plague in her body that could destroy our planet," Jack explained helplessly. He would have left the psychopathic old woman in her prison if he could, but he would never risk his life knowing that she was armed and could kill him at the mere thought of it.

Sg-3 helped them anesthetize Linea and pack her as best they could so she couldn't even move an inch if she woke up by accident. Then they returned home. General Hammond was waiting for them and, after congratulating them on their escape from the prison, he asked them about their prisoner.

-Sir, they call her "The Destroyer of Worlds". She single-handedly wiped out a quarter of a planet's population by creating a plague. Then she showed up on the scene offering help, and before they could stop her, she had already killed another quarter of the population.

"From what the prisoners told Teal'c and me, this old woman possesses extremely dangerous knowledge of biology, genetics and chemistry. She is a prodigy, but an evil madwoman. Even in prison, she has made her own fusion reactor using tree roots," Jack explained so that the general would not take things lightly. Sir, we have searched her body and found many suspicious things hidden.

"I hope they are just devices or safeties for your self-defense, but I suspect they are weapons. I also suspect there may be more in her body, and I suggest she be subjected to a deep scan and an analysis of her genetic information.

"The prisoners claimed that she was immune to her own disease, and we must be prepared in case of emergency," said Jack. The general put on a solemn expression as he looked down at the sleeping old woman packed on the floor.

-Colonel, I understand your concern. We will take appropriate action. Now, report to the infirmary for a full examination and then to the briefing room for your report," the general ordered. Jack saluted and took his leave with his staff.

-I think we should give him a chance to explain himself," said Daniel. I think she's guilty, I could see the fear of her in the other prisoners, but it's also possible that we're overreacting to her dangerousness," he added as Dr. Fraiser finished her examinations in the infirmary. Jack nodded.

-I agree, that's why I used a Zat gun instead of a bullet and ordered Carter to inspect it instead of tearing it apart and seeing what it was hiding," Jack explained.

-Jack! -Daniel chided.

-Daniel, you're too soft, in case you don't know, in this country they would have given Linea the death penalty, no locking her up to continue enjoying life with a bunch of henchmen," said Jack, sitting on his own gurney in the infirmary.

-Only in some states," Daniel replied.

-I think if other states came across Linea, they'd be willing to change their laws," said Jack.

-No way," said Jack as he finished his report.

-Colonel O'Neill, she only asked to see you and offered to help us in return. In addition, she has saved us from uncomfortable situations by confessing that everything she is accused of is true," General Hammond explained. Colonel O'Neill, please note that this woman has extraordinary knowledge," added General Hammond as he prepared to refuse again.

-Why do you want to see me? Sir, I was supposed to send her to the NID in her sleep," Jack complained.

-I don't know, but she seems very interested in it," said General Hammond.

-"All right, but Teal'c will come with me, and he'll be armed with his staff, no Zats," said Jack, and General Hammond nodded looking at Teal'c, who for a moment seemed to hesitate, but finally nodded.

Ten minutes later, Jack was sitting across from Linea in an interrogation room. Teal'c was behind him, pointing his staff at Linea. Beyond a wall with reinforced bulletproof glass stood General Hammond and the rest of his team, along with ten guards armed to the teeth. Dr. Fraiser was at a computer, monitoring Linea's vital signs in case she tried something with her body that they had missed.

Linea, sitting in her seat, wore only a simple white gown that fit her body, not allowing her to hide anything.

-If you do anything strange, Teal'c will shoot. In your head," Jack explained. What do you want from me? -he asked. Linea smiled kindly.

-Colonel O'Neill, I had already noticed something strange about you, but your negligent behavior and the way you abuse your subordinates led me to mistakenly think you were just a common brute," Linea accused. Jack grimaced and looked at General Hammond, who was watching him angrily.

-I swear I'm innocent this time. I behaved like an angel, I even said "please"! -Jack hastened to excuse himself.

General Hammond looked first at Daniel, who nodded, and then at Carter, who took a few seconds to ponder for some grievance and then nodded. Jack took a deep breath and glared at Linea angrily.

-You fell asleep while ordering the big guy to guard you. You treat him like your personal slave," Linea accused without giving up. Jack made more grimaces.

-"Teal'c is a Jaffa, he doesn't need sleep, whereas I tire easily," Jack explained despondently, as he promised himself to shoot the next alien who asked to talk to him. Then he'd make up some nonsense, like his gun went off.

-O'Neill is right. I don't mind protecting his safety either, he is vitally important to freeing my people from the Goa'uld," Teal'c explained.

-Thank you, Teal'c," Jack said sincerely, feeling touched by the Jaffa's dedication. Linea just smiled.

-You're a pretentious slacker, and from your superior's reaction, I see you were already abusing your own equipment," Linea insisted once more.

-Madam… -Linea raised an eyebrow and Jack gritted his teeth. Threatening like a bully wouldn't help his reputation. He took a deep breath and looked at Linea with what he hoped was a serene expression.

-Colonel O'Neill, I know he wasn't performing, that he's a bum and a slacker. That's why I dismissed him and didn't pay too much attention to him. But when I felt the pain of that gun you fired at me, I understood that I had made the biggest mistake of my entire existence in underestimating you, and that I should heed my first conclusions and get rid of you as soon as I met you," said Linea nonchalantly. Much to his regret, Jack swallowed hard, he had no idea that he had come so close to dying and that his laziness had saved his life.

-Yes, Colonel, I can see how special you are, and I could also sense your fear and wariness of me. You already had an impression of me when you saw me. I suppose my pushing my way through the prisoners at our first meeting gave me away to you. I only wanted to give the impression of being important to entice them to negotiate with me, but to you, that only served to alert you to me.

"I realized that, but then I saw him lounging around and thought he was imagining things. How stupid I was! -she chided herself. I knew very intelligent, cunning, advanced beings before, but they were all diligent and eager for knowledge. You are one of the most absurdly brilliant beings I have ever encountered, but you are a waste of a human being. Just looking at you makes me regret what could have been and was not. You disgust me," Linea snarled hatefully.

-Well, the feeling is mutual, and I want you to know that in addition to disgusting me, you also disgust me. So if you're done insulting me and venting your venom, I'd better get back to my life of laziness and idleness," said Jack, intending to get up and leave. He couldn't believe that this woman called him just to tell him that it wasn't fair and that she wasn't pleased that she was captured by him.

-Sit down! -Linea ordered in a barely audible voice, but Jack found himself listening to her.

Jack looked to General Hammond to let him out of there, he felt that this woman had no good intentions towards him and, like Carter, her complex brain had made her paranoid and she had built a whole conspiracy theory around it.

-Linea, if you don't intend anything useful to us?

-"Useful? -Linea interrupted General Hammon with a smile, and Jack felt a shiver down his spine at the way she looked at him. Would you find all my knowledge useful, General Hamon? I offer it all to you. Everything I know. All the things I have learned in my life, that your poor civilization could only dream of. If you accept, the Goa'uld will be nothing to you," Linea said, his smile widening. I ask only one thing in return.

"Give this man to me. I know there is something within him that is incomparable to other living beings. I have never seen anything like it in my travels in search of knowledge and life. I know I can get it, and once I have it, I will share it with you," Linea offered brazenly.

Jack looked at her stunned. She really had hit the nail on the head, but if she managed to find out what he knew, not only would she not share it with anyone, she would use it for her own ends. This woman was a human demon. Jack recovered and gave her a cold stare as a pair of guards came in and took her away.

-Stupid, they don't know what they're doing! You don't understand what we can do if we figure out what makes this waste of a human being special. We could get eternal life…" Linea was still shrieking nonsense as they took her away.

Jack knew she was capable of doing what she set out to do, but she was wrong in choosing the person she would negotiate with, because if there was anyone in this world she trusted to protect her men to the death, it was General Hamon.

-Sir, she's just talking nonsense, send her to the NID. Maybourne must be anxious to get his hands on her," said Jack. You'd see who that crazy old lady was being used in an experiment.

-Jack, she's like a human Goa'uld," said Daniel from his side of the glass.

-I agree with that statement, O'Neill," Teal'c said solemnly.

-Sir, I think this has gotten out of hand," Carter said, looking around at the soldiers. She was talking to General Hamon.

-Watch your words, Major," General Hamon chided. Then she sighed helplessly and looked at him with a look of circumstance. Colonel O'Neill, come to my office," ordered General Hamon and left. All his staff, the soldiers and even Dr. Frasier looked at him.

-What? -Jack asked. "Is there something on my face? -He laughed, but then sighed, watching everyone's expression, which made it clear that this time they weren't going to buy any stories.

That one prodigy accused him could be an error in judgment, but that there were two of them, and that one of them was willing to give everything she possessed to be allowed to dissect him, was already irrefutable proof in everyone's eyes.

Jack sighed and walked towards General Hamon's office, with Teal'c watching him and glaring menacingly at anyone who observed him. To Teal'c, it was obvious that his identity had been leaked and his plans could be in jeopardy, so his caution was twice as much as usual.

When Jack arrived at General Hamon's office, Daniel and Carter were already there. Daniel was looking at him expectantly, and Carter was giving him an accusing look with eyes bright with triumph. She was the first to accuse, but no one paid much attention.

-Sit down, Colonel," General Hamon told him, "Teal'c, you may remain at his side," he added when he saw that Teal'c had no intention of leaving.

-Of course," said Carter, who seemed to have an illumination. Everyone looked at her, "On the mission to Chulak, the alliance with Teal'c was too fast and too strange," Carter said, looking accusingly at Teal'c. Teal'c nodded blankly.

-O'Neill told me of a future together, where we would not only defeat the false god Apophis, but all Goa'uld, so I joined his cause and have helped him on his way," Teal'c explained. Carter seemed frustrated that she had not noticed him sooner.

-And what are your plans? -Carter asked, so eager for answers that she forgot her rank.

-Jack, if you're a prodigy?

-Why am I not a genius like you or a geek like Carter? -Jack asked, interrupting Daniel. Daniel looked at him in amazement.

-Daniel, everyone was able to complete what you were going to ask," Jack said with a sigh. Teal'c nodded in support. Daniel, life is short and you have to live it. Before the Stargate was discovered, the average human's lifespan would not exceed eighty years. In that time, no matter how smart someone was, or if they worked for life without a break, there was no chance of doing anything important, so why try? -Jack asked, and everyone grimaced.

-Jack, I think Linea is right," said Daniel helplessly. Carter nodded. Jack frowned when he saw that no one supported him, but that wasn't unusual, he was talking to geeks and military people. There weren't any bums there to identify with him.

-"As for my plans," Jack rasped so they would stop looking at him like he was a waste. I can't tell you, because the more variants that come up, the more trouble I'll be in, and things could get very ugly if my plans fail," Jack told them truthfully. I can only tell you that I am doing my best to stay calm, not to make silly mistakes and to make everything go as smoothly as possible in every situation that comes our way," Jack explained. Carter and Daniel looked at him dissatisfied.

-As in Chulak? -General Hamon asked. Jack gritted his teeth, but nodded.

-What happened at Chulak? -Daniel asked. He had insisted on that question for a long time, but Jack had managed to get him to give up.

Jack sighed. It wasn't that he didn't want to tell them, it was that he didn't know how to explain it so they would understand. It was easier now.

-If he hadn't prepared a defense on Abydos that day, Skaara would be captured and taken along with Daniel's wife. Apophis would make them hosts and we would arrive, we would stay with Teal'c, who would help us save the rest of the people captured by Apophis. But I decided it was better to teach Apophis a lesson and prepared a counterattack. Daniel's wife was not captured, but Skaara was, and the way he fought impressed Apophis, who turned him into a host all at once, and since he didn't need any more hosts, he had them all killed," Jack explained.

-Oh God! -said Carter.

-Oh God! -said Daniel, but those two phrases, though the same, had different meanings for both of them.

-Sir, this is incredible, the possibilities…..

-Sam, now is not the time," General Hamon interrupted. Daniel was still pale and said nothing.

-Sir, I'm sorry, but Colonel O'Neill's ability to perceive… I don't think it can be described or even imagined," said Carter.

-So you can see what will happen in the future and decide whether or not to intervene? -asked Daniel.

-No, Daniel, I can't see the future, but I can imagine what will happen, and then I decide if it's in our best interest to change something, if it's too big a risk or if it would be foolish to do so. The more things I can change, the more I run the risk of screwing up, so I make sure I don't do anything foolish. Thanks to that, we got a naquadah mine on Abydos, recovered Ra's treasure and that inscribed tablet. Then I decided not to bother the Nox, that was very, very difficult. We kept the artifact to control nanites, the nanites themselves, Hathor and her sarcophagus, and, of course, all the gifts Apophis brought us," Jack explained.

"But before you start thinking crazy thoughts and get us into a big mess, I'll tell you that I'm not the same as Carter. I can get a simple sum wrong and I have as much trouble learning as everyone else, so I'm not a scientist. Maybe one day, if I gain ultramegacosmic knowledge, I will think about the possibility, but not now.

"Secondly, think about my life, do you think I would have let my son die if I had known? -Jack asked, inwardly apologizing to O'Neill for using his son in this, which made him feel terrible. From his memories he understood that he would be shooting him right now if he were there. They all looked at each other uncomfortably.

-I can't see the future. As I told them, I can imagine some things. And by knowing those things, I can take advantage of circumstances. But it is extremely dangerous to do so, especially when our enemies are like Linea.

"She saw through me at the time, and only chance saved us all, because I tell you now, she had us in her hands at all times, and if she wanted to kill me, she could. It was not my ability that saved us from her, it was mere chance. They also saw how we were taken prisoner, and we had already been ambushed several times," said Jack so that these guys would not think they were invincible.

-We understand, Colonel O'Neill. This is already a great advantage for us. But now that advantage has been exposed and confirmed in front of too many people to keep the secret for too long. Tell me, Colonel, for this reason you do not leave the base? Do you fear for your safety since you decided to step in and help us? -General Hamon asked. Jack nodded and was sincere, he wouldn't trust people outside the base one bit.

-Sir, the politicians and the high command already sold us out once for profit with the Tollan. From the moment I set foot on this base to join this project and act whenever I see fit, I'm trusting you with my safety," Jack explained sincerely. If someone like Maybourne were in charge of the SGC, his plan would be a total failure.

-Don't worry, Colonel, from this moment on, I assure you that to get you off this base without your consent, they will have to step over my dead body," General Hamon assured him. Jack nodded gratefully. Politicians like Kinsey abounded everywhere.

A few days after the meeting, everyone at the base was looking at him slyly, and Jack guessed that his supposedly prodigious gift had already spread to the upper echelons. If he didn't manage to improve the base's security soon, or his own security, he would be in big trouble.

After the whole fiasco with Linea, the missions continued, and he encountered people living in a virtual reality. Jack was willing to leave them there, but the others objected and threw them into the garden where there was a strange guardian droid who seemed more concerned about his garden than the people. As for the immersive virtual reality technology, it only interested him, and it was difficult to get a capsule that the scientists promised to study after they finished more important projects, like running the eye of Ra with Apophis' ship engines. That was a tragedy for him.

Some time later, Daniel broke away from the team to follow a woman. In his missions and in the original story, so many things went wrong when Daniel ran off that Jack was already paranoid, and since he promised General Hamon that he would never catch him by the collar again, he felt helpless in the face of the misfortunes he brought, but if something went wrong this time, Jack was no idiot and would escape leaving Daniel to deal with the consequences of his actions.

With all this in mind, Jack ordered them to let the hippie run alone while they watched from afar. Soon, Daniel found the woman attempting suicide, which made Jack realice what would happen next after Daniel saved the woman.

As Daniel and the woman stood up, after the woman tried to throw herself off a cliff, a group of fake Jaffa arrested him and took him away.

-Who wants to go to lunch? -Jack asked.

-Sir…

-Carter, no "sir". If we had followed him, we'd be prisoners right now, too. Besides, nothing is going to happen to that hippie because that woman is not a goa'uld and those are not real jaffa. There's something weird going on here, so for now we'll just go eat and then we'll see if they enslave Daniel or marry him to that woman, in which case we'll have to notify Share that a woman from another world has taken her husband from her -Jack concluded.

-Aren't they jaffa? -Carter asked. Jack nodded.

-Please, Carter, don't ask me how I know, and let's eat," said Jack.

A day later, they saw Daniel outside the palace of the false goa'uld, wearing imperial robes.

-Daniel, you're a hippie idiot," said Jack from behind a tree.

-Jack, it's not what you think, they're not...

-Aren't they slavers and all those people in the mine work of their own free will, while they make sure that parasites fresh from other worlds like you have fancy clothes to walk around in in the sun? -Jack asked. Daniel was stunned.

-Daniel, I've contacted SGC command and informed them of the situation with these people. They are sending troops…" The sounds of engines roaring could be heard in the distance, but with how close the portal was, they would be there in a few seconds.

Daniel tried to run and get back to the pyramid palace with his new friend, but Teal'c and Carter came out from behind some trees that were right behind him that Daniel hadn't even paid attention to, they caught him and ran out next to Jack, while six armored vehicles stopped in front of the palace and used light machine guns to obliterate the jaffa that came out, while the special forces teams ignored the battle and entered the palace.

Barely ten minutes later, victory was already clear and two unfortunate fallen soldiers were brought to the portal to be transported to the two sarcophagi in charge of the SGC.

-Calm down, Daniel. We have sarcophagi, if you want your slaver back, you'll get her. But she'll no longer have slaves, or a palace, or an army of fake jaffa to enslave people," Jack said, making it clear to her that he didn't agree with anything she was going to say.

-And Earth will have another naquadah mine," Daniel accused, watching the soldiers secure the palace.

-"That's right, do you think these people will mind if we mine the naquadah for them? That we pay them with clothes, food and medicine? -Jack asked, and Daniel didn't know what to say. Daniel, she's a bad person. As for us, nothing is free in this life, Daniel. If it were, the advanced species of the galaxy would give us all the technology we need," said Jack with a sigh. Daniel, you see the best within each person.

"That's a great and wonderful thing, something many of us aren't capable of. But the fact that she's good to you doesn't take away from the fact that she showed no mercy to the hundreds of people she enslaved.

"If she had been honest, she would have been working in that mine along with everyone else and her army. But she didn't, and that means she only cares about herself, and now she'll have to take the consequences of her actions, unless you want to save her and send her somewhere else," Jack said. Daniel looked at him.

-I still have command of this mission, Daniel. Just get her to the portal, no one will stop you," Jack explained. Daniel hesitated for a moment, but then ran off toward the palace.

-O'Neill here, let him take her," Jack ordered. In the pyramid there would be another sarcophagus, and that would make four for Earth. One was in the hands of the politicians, in case they suffered a heart attack or liver attack, and two of them were in the SGC. With this one they would have three, which would be good life insurance.

Returning to the SGC, Jack saw the tunnel they had dug to mount a proper defense for the portal. The tunnel was one hundred meters long to the portal and twenty meters behind it. It was seven meters wide and six meters high. Armored gates were still being installed every twenty meters and ground vehicle magazines were being dug, which had proven useful for a blitz attack such as the one they had carried out.

-Congratulations, Colonel, this will move the Prometheus project forward faster than expected," said General Hammond.

-Sir, tell them not to go crazy, at least until we get the tridium for the hull," said Jack. Earth still didn't have a mine for tridium, which was a scarce material, and the Goa'uld had all the mines.

-Don't worry, Colonel. Since we have the two ships, they're not in such a hurry, and the research on the engines will take longer, even if we have a model," Carter said.
