Daughter Of Batman 2 Chapter 3
The following night sees the entire Wayne clan down below inside the Batcave.
Bruce was working on repairs and upgrades for the Batmobile while Danika is spending some quality time with Ao, trying to remain inconspicuous and out of her brother's way. After the confrontation between Bruce and Damian the previous night she'd thought it best to temporarily stay out of sight and mind.
It appears to have worked. Damian just needed some much-needed time alone to cool his head to gain a modicum of levelheadedness. Brushing her long hair to get the tangles out with Ao assisting her by grooming some knots from the ends, she'd do the same to him later with a brush, Danika observes her twin from the corner of her eye as he heads for the Batcomputer.
Taking a seat Damian lays his hand against the pad that scans his genetic fingerprint. The console instantly accesses the open file that was on Anton Schott, the late Dollmaker.
The information available on the matter briefly presents itself in availability. When Damian attempts to dig deeper into the file the computer instantly declares the case to be closed and logs out without a command from him much to Damian's dismay and chagrin.
"If that had been me or Danika in one of those cages…Would you have killed him then," said Damian, causing Danika to pause the brushstroke over her hair to listen in.
Removing the protective welding shield mask covering his face, Bruce said "We have to be better than our baser instincts."
Bruce then proceeds to get into his costume to go out on patrol and check into that owl feather he had picked up that evening.
"I'm sorry about sneaking out the other night," said Damian, attempting to appear and sound somewhat genuinely respectful and contrite about his recent disobedient behavior.
Brow raised, Bruce said "And the night before that?"
Shrugging, Damian admits "Not so much. We stopped the Dollmaker, didn't we? I was raised to be the ultimate soldier. A master assassin. Nothing out there can hurt me."
Extracting the owl feather from a case he had it in that scanned its type and breed, Bruce said "Underneath that hard shell, you're still just a boy, same as Danika is just a girl. You've still got a lot of growing to do no matter how you look at it."
"If that were true, you wouldn't be taking us out on the streets hunting psychopathic murderers," said Damian, emotionlessly.
"Dad's just trying to give us a childhood, making sure we don't have to grow up too fast," said Danika, softly.
Damian lightly scowls in her direction.
"Your sister is right. When I lost your grandparents, I had to grow up and adapt way too prematurely long before I was supposed to. I want you and Danika to have that chance to experience what I never did," said Bruce, kneeling down to Damian's height, demeanor softening. "Those papers will be signed soon. Everything will be different then, you'll see."
"Where are you going," inquired Damian, following Bruce to the Batmobile.
Danika picks Ao up and raises him to her shoulder, joining the two at the vehicle.
"Out," said Bruce, frankly. "I'll be back in a couple of hours. Stay in the Manor. Do not leave the grounds."
Bruce lightly kisses Danika on the head and jumps into the Batmobile, slipping his mask on.
"What about me," said Damian, wanting to come along with him.
Smirking, Bruce said "I got you a sitter."
The roof of the Batmobile closes and the vehicle speeds off.
Dick shows up not long afterward.
In costume, Damian and Dick begin an intent training session in spar while Danika is doing the same with some wooden dummies nearby. Utilizing her hair and tessen fans at the same time. Ao is at a safe distance munching on some nuts and cheering her on in squirrel chatter.
"You're sloppy," jeered Dick, goadingly.
No, I'm uninterested," refuted Damian, expressionless.
"Get interested," said Dick, charging at Damian.
Dick keeps attacking with his signature Escrima Sticks and Damian deflects with his katana.
"I don't need to be trained by some circus clown," spat Damian, scathingly. "My grandfather taught me everything I need to know about personal combat."
This time Damian is on the offensive and Dick is on the defensive.
"Well, I was trained by Bruce Wayne and every time they met, he kicked Ra's al Ghul's ass," said Dick, proudly. "Just like I'm kicking yours."
Insulted on their grandfather's behalf Damian didn't take that last jibe well.
Damian is forced back to the second level with Dick in hot pursuit. Dick manages to corner him against the display cases with the unused and replaced costumes contained inside.
"You really are a massive ego, aren't you? The pure and perfect Dick Grayson. The first Robin," snarled Damian.
"Based on what I'm seeing, I was the only Robin," said Dick, smiling.
"You're just some lost little orphan he took pity on," said Damian, coldly. "I'm blood."
"Damian, that's enough! Knock it off," said Danika.
But Damian refuses to let up, not heeding her.
Landing decisive and devastating blows that send Dick tumbling over the railing and into the command chair at the Batcomputer, Damian proclaimed "I'm his son."
Rubbing his aching jaw, Dick groaned "You certainly are."
Danika rushes over to check on Dick. Damian leaves the Batcave for the Manor house, leaving them behind.
Danika suspects he's up to something. Especially since Damian hasn't removed his costume.
That's not a good sign.
Danika's suspicions are justified when she catches Damian halfway through sneaking out his window as she steps inside to check on him.
"What are you doing," demands Danika, grabbing his cape.
Ao is angrily chittering at Damian, waving a paw at him.
"What does it look like," said Damian, arrogantly.
"Dad won't like this. He's already warned you countless times. Don't push it," pleaded Danika.
"Bruce is not going to know. I'll be out and back before he even knows I've left. That is unless someone tells him," said Damian, eyes narrowed.
Hurt by the implications Danika is stuck in a rock and a hard place.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Even if it is bordering on the delusional.
Dick is in the middle of a phone call with his girlfriend when he notices Damian's door left ajar. Alarmed at the open window on the other side Dick bolts for Danika's room, discovering it in the same state.
With one exception.
On the dresser, Dick sees a hastily written note.
I'll bring him back in a couple of hours.
Danika
"Bruce is going to bust a blood vessel," deadpanned Dick, staring at the note.
Dick is unable to act on his most recent complication because of a sudden call from Alfred. The Bat symbol is on it showing it's from the secure and encrypted line for emergencies only.
Great just great.
What else can possibly go wrong tonight?
Authors Note:
Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of days ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.
When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in someway. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.
Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.
Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.
Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.
I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.
So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.
I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
