Liv had plenty of catch up work from the day before to keep her busy. Fin ended up taking Velasco to question a potential informant on the newest case. Bruno and Muncy busied themselves, looking for leads and connections. Things seemed to be going smooth enough.

She slid her phone over from the edge of her desk. She clicked through her contacts, scrolling until she found Elliot's name. She couldn't decide whether to text him or not. Sighing, she locked her phone. He'd call her later. She was sure.

The day went on, and she hoped for a text, but she knew was probably busy from skipping out with her yesterday. She finished up some paperwork from their last case and glanced at the clock. She had a couple calls she needed to make before she could wrap her day, and pick up Noah. Elliot should call when he finishes up his day, the thought made her smile. For the first time in a long time she felt optimistic.

——

His only thought beyond the excruciating pain in his lower abdomen was how much Liv was going to kill him. If he survived this first.

Sergeant Bell's face hovered over him, putting pressure on the wound. He tried to sit up but she forced him back down. "Stay down Stabler." He watched her head turn and yell behind her, "Whelan! Call it in NOW!"

He heard Whelan's voice in the distance, "10-13 shots fired. Officer down badge number 6313…"

Damn it. He prayed Olivia wasn't anywhere near the police scanner at the moment. She deserved to hear it from someone on the phone, not the impersonal scanner.

He started to feel fuzzy. Bell pushed harder against the wound. "Damn it Ayanna! What the hell!? That hurts!"

She yelled back at him. "You got shot, you idiot! Of course it's going to hurt!"

Shit. This wasn't good."Olivia is going to f-ing kill me."

Bell's eyes were terrified, but she chuckled in spite of the dire situation. "Yeah probably."

"Call her or Fin." Fin was the only other person who he trusted to tell her. "Before the entire NYPD knows."

"I'll call once EMTs get here."

Elliot started to feel lightheaded and he knew he was going to pass out. He just hoped to God he would live through this, not for his sake, but for Liv's. He couldn't abandon her again, and this would be the worst possible way to leave her.

He heard Whelan call, "Ambulance is here!" His voice felt a million miles away.

Suddenly Ayanna's face was in his again. "Stabler, I swear if you die on me…" he didn't hear the rest of the threat before everything faded to black.

Muncy began to gather her stuff to head out for the day when the call came across the police scanner.

10-13 Officer down badge number 6313…

Words no cop ever wants to hear. After Duarte's death she hated listening to the scanner. Images of her previous captain being hacked to death paraded through her mind. She shook the thoughts away but then she heard Fin mutter "Shit," under his breath. She glanced up to see him white. She had never seen him like that. He'd been on the job so long, nothing seemed to phase him. Whatever was going on wasn't good.

She watched his eyes flit over to the captain's office. She heard him say, "Damn it Elliot," under his breath. She wondered who the hell Elliot was, but the sergeant looked over at her and asked, "Cap still on the line with McGrath?"

She nodded, still wondering what the hell was going on. Fin sat back at his desk, but kept glancing over to the captain's office, visibly nervous and unsettled.

He nervously drummed his fingers against his desk until his phone rang. He jumped up to answer the call. He didn't even say hello. "Bell! What the hell!?"

Muncy heard a frantic explanation being relayed over the line. Fin looked sick. "Is he alive?" Followed by, "How bad?" Muncy couldn't help but eavesdrop.

"I know I know. She's on a call with McGrath right now. What hospital?" He nodded again, "Alright, yeah. She'll be there as soon as she can." Just as she thought he was hanging up he stopped, "Sergeant wait. Do I need to call the Stabler kids?"

Shit. Muncy just realized who Elliot is, and knows this is really bad.

"Yeah wait on it. Liv will want to do it I think." He ended the call and Muncy dropped her eyes, trying to disguise her listening. It didn't matter though because Fin was fixated on the captain's office door. All she knew was she was glad she wasn't Fin right now.
