Rage…
Anger…
Hurt…
Understanding…
Confusion…
His head was filled with a mixture of emotions none of which he could sort out. He was finally on his earth.
His home.
And now that he was here he was going to save his father against the Spot, and against the Spider Society if he had to. His mind wandered to a certain blonde and her sky-blue eyes, he remembered how red and puffy they looked. As if she was hurting as much as he was, he shook his head, only trying to remember the pain her betrayal caused him. He didn't want to sympathize with her of all people.
"Shit thinking about either topics ain't helping me right now, I…I need…to…"
His breathing became labored as if each breath was suffocating him. He clutched his chest gasping for air. He lost focus on swinging and he soon found himself flying and slamming into a billboard.
His chest.
It ached.
He felt as if someone was repeatedly stabbing… hacking into his heart. Each breath became tighter until he passed out from exhaustion. His last thought crawling back to the blonde who had captured his heart for almost the past 2 years.
Why Gwen?
And he passed out.
Little did he notice he was being watched the entire time, by a lone figure in a black jacket and jeans, with a purple trim. His face was covered by a mask, and his hands were sheathed by claws. He pressed his earpiece.
A distorted voice pierced the rainy night. "Hey, I've got him."

"NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!" She was standing on the roof of her apartment building pushing every button on her watch, anything that might've worked. "FUCKING WORK YOU PIECE OF SHIT!"
Her anger was getting the better of her now as she started punching chimneys and a large, now dented billboard. She fell to her knees exhausted and cried her soul out. She cried until there were no more tears left.
Her thoughts plagued her…
Tortured her…
Tormented her…
It all seemed like a nightmare she never could wake up from. The face of the boy she had grown to care deeply about, was forever seared into her mind.
The anguish painted on his face hit her like a truck. She could see he never for a second thought she would betray him.
But she did. And now he's suffering because of both her action and inaction.
She inwardly scoffed at herself, Only I could hurt someone I care so deeply about, by doing both nothing and something at the same time. I'm pathetic.
She stood up and wiped her tears, she knew she needed to find him. But had no idea of how to even universe jump without a watch. Fuck my life, and fuck you Miguel.
She contemplated heading to her apartment but the fear of facing her father was still there. She didn't know whether he would point a gun at her like last time. She steeled herself, if she was going to find Miles and apologize to him, the least she could do is start with her father.
"Baby steps Gwen, baby steps…" She crawled into her room through the window.
Upside down, she quietly entered her apartment, she noticed the TV was on in another room and quietly made her way there to see if her dad was there. Sure enough, there lay George Stacy, soon to be captain, laying on the couch snoring.
Gwen's eyes softened as she looked at her sleeping father, he quite honestly looked like shit. Dark bags underneath his eyes, hair all a mess, dirty clothes, and takeout food everywhere. She quietly sighed noticing the picture of her and Miles on the table. She crept above the table and webbed the photo snatching it back to herself, clinging to the picture, and silently hoped Miles was okay wherever he was. She turned around hoping to come up with an idea to find him.
"You know, it's not nice to sneak up on someone while they're sleeping."
"SHIT!" She lost her grip on the ceiling and fell straight on her back.
THUD
"Owww" George immediately broke into laughter. Gwen looked at her father in surprise. She hadn't heard him laugh, well since Peter was alive.
George immediately noticed how watery his daughter's eyes had gotten, and he rushed over to her and embraced her. "Hey, it's ok honey, it's ok…" She immediately hugged him back and let the tears and all the emotions she had been bottling up free.
After a few minutes they pulled apart and she finally looks at her dad, she still notices his dark bags and disheveled hair, but she sees something she hasn't seen in a long time in his eyes.
Joy.
"Dad, I haven't heard you laugh since…" She didn't want to finish her statement as the memories would make her break down again.
"I know Gwen, I know. But I've been thinking about a lot these past few days. About you and your mother…"
Gwen looked at her father both surprised and sympathetically, "Dad…"
He put his hand up, "Let me finish. I thought about how much your mother loved and cared about you, how we both did. We wanted to make sure our daughter felt supported in everything she did and that nothing could stop her if she put her mind to it…" Gwen's tears began again and she hugged her father as she continued listening, "I think I somewhat lost my way after she and Peter died. I suffered, but most of all you suffered and I want to apologize, Gwen, because when I saw you in that spider suit, it scared me. It reminded me of your mother, she was never afraid to back down from anyone if it meant doing the right thing, It made me think that just as I lost your mother, I would lose you too and I never wanted to make you feel as if you had nowhere to run to. I'm sorry."
He noticed that Gwen was now uncontrollably sobbing in his chest and he felt bad, but he figured they both needed to sort out their emotions together. They both sat there embracing as everything was now in the open. After, 20 minutes or so, Gwen finally looked at her father with her puffy red eyes, "I should've told you, Dad, from the beginning and never tried to hide this from you. I wanted to be like you, helping others even if that meant putting yourself in harm's way. But, I lost my way as well…" She thought about everything that's happened over the past few months and what she did to Miles. Her voice cracked and George looked at his daughter confusingly and allowed her to continue, "I hurt someone very close to me when all I wanted to do was protect them, and now h-he's suffering because of me and I-I don't know what to do."
"Sweety look at me…" She lifted her head up slowly to look at him, "there's only one thing you can do." She froze and for a moment the world stood still as she awaited to hear what her father had to say.
"Go to him. Tell him what he means to you, and why you did what you did. If he loves you like you love him, he'll understand."
Gwen's face turned red and she averted her gaze to the floor, flustered, "I-I don't, he doesn't…uh", she trailed off not knowing what else to say.
Her father chuckled at her obvious embarrassment, "I know Gwen, you may not understand it yet, but I can see the look in your eyes when you mentioned him. I can see you love that boy even despite whatever happened between you both. I can read peoples' emotions better than others', remember?"
She silently cursed his police skills, but the realization hit her and George could also tell what she was thinking.
"I quit the force" Her eyes went wide.
"Wha- why, how?" she asked dumbfounded, all the while hundreds of thoughts ran across her mind. "He quit? He QUIT? HE QUIT! Miles was right, we can make our own destiny. Oh god what have I done?"
"I guess when I saw you in the spider suit, I thought the right thing to do would be to arrest you, but after you left, I wondered if putting my own daughter behind bars would help anyone. I realized you had been helping people and if I took away people's hope, where would that leave me? So I quit." He was caught offguard when his daughter embraced him once again.
"Thank you dad, thank you so much. This changes a lot of things" She let out a breath she didn't even know she was holding.
"By the way, a friend of yours dropped by. A real weirdo, and he changed colors? But he left this for you…" He pulled out a small wrapped box. Gwen quickly grabbed it and unwrapped it, and what she saw gave her hope. It looked exactly like the watch the Society gave her when she joined, but this looked a lot different. There were welding marks and it was a different color, "Thank you Hobie".
"Thank you Dad, I'm going to go save my friend and fix everything. I'll be back, I promise."
"Don't forget to tell him how you feel about him, make sure to be honest."
"Dadddd…" She groaned, now she had do deal with another one, "I'll be back"
She put in Peter B. Parker's dimension coordinates and a portal opened up. She looked back at her dad and saw the thumbs up he gave her and she returned it. "I'm coming Miles, please be okay." She jumped in the portal with determination and resolve to fix what she had done, and the hope of her and Miles being together, side by side.
