No social life vs Full Social Life
Emma and Regina's life together through the eyes of Emma's Friends and family. Is a disruptive one.
Emma spends too much time with Regina and their time together has been neglected.
Example one. Ruby planned an entire evening a few days before Emma's Holiday because it was their traditional night to celebrate. It got usurped because Emma flashed on their day on a Chinese Spy. When it was all said and Done. Mulan Fa had cornered her to help her on a rescue mission. No big deal. Just the life of a Secret agent, Except she wasn't an agent. She was just some asset, with a life that was falling apart.
Emma and Kathryn had created a holiday, which was their defacto Mother's day. It was the day their mother left them. The mission took over the entire day and Emma missed their Mother's day. Leaving Kathryn completely gutted. But Regina and Mal were captured along with Mulan, and Emma was the only one left to save them.
Kathryn and Ruby bonded over The loss of their sister and friend. But Emma was kicking butt as a spy. She got home super late, and Kathryn accused her of being in love, and that she needed to figure out how to balance the new relationship with the rest of her life.
After the mission was over, Emma finally made it home from the store on time. She had made arrangements to ensure She and Kathryn had their mother's day celebration unbothered for a change. She had told Regina and Mal she was unavailable, and she went home with a purpose.
"Hey, Emma," Ruby said just as she opened the door.
Emma stood there in her shock. "Ruby, what are you doing…" She started and looked around the apartment. R-Rubes, I know that I haven't been around lately, and/or really been the best of friends, but, uh, you know that Kathryn and I have…"
Ruby shakes her head dismissively. "Mother's day, girl, I know... I get it." The brunette said with a smile, as The older blonde walked out of the kitchen.
" Okay, hey, it's okay," Kathryn said to her sister. "I invited her."
"MmHmm, Yeah," Ruby stated with a grin, "and I told you she's gonna come walking through that door, didn't I?" She pinched Emma's cheeks "He's such a good kid. I'm going to get some glasses." The brunette said and walked to the kitchen.
Emma smiled and looked at her sister inquisitively. "What the…"
"We bonded over an "I miss Emma" moment." the older Swan girl said with a smirk.
Emma's eyebrows shot up. "Did you? Where's, uh, where's awesome?"
"He couldn't get off work," Kathryn said just as there was a knock on the door. "That must be Regina."
Emma looked up at her sister in shock. "What, you invited her, too?"
Kathryn shrugged. "Well, I mean, she's your new best gal. How could I not?"
"Kath, you know you'll always be my best gal."
Kathryn frowned. "Don't take this the wrong way, Ems, but I hope not."
Imma chuckled and headed toward the door. "Yeah, Ruby, now Regina? It used to be just the two of us."
"Well, we're growing up," Kathryn said as the door revealed Regina in a simple blue summer dress.
"Kathryn invited me. She, uh, insisted that I come." Regina said looking for tension between the sisters. "So, uh, mother's day? In October?"
"Yes, mother's day," Emma said, putting Regina's bag on the hook for her. "that's right. You don't really know…" Emma paused and looked back at Regina. "Mother's day is the anniversary of the day our mom... Left us. Our dad was her, but he was never really here. So, now, every year we celebrate the day we learn how to take care of ourselves."
"And rely on each other." Kathryn finished the sentence.
"Kath, here I come," Ruby said coming from the kitchen.
"I think we're gonna need some more champagne," Emmma said and they all said cheers.
Regina Began assimilating into Emma's regular life. The CIA tried to impose less time on the intersect as a result of that. But the flashes kept coming at random times. One day, Emma was set to find Ruby and she found her at an arcade in Venice beach.
Immediately Emma was thrown on another mission. One that held so many answers. When she got home, she saw Kathryn and Fred watching TV. "Heu," she said making a beeline to her bedroom. "Um, is Regina here?"
Fred smirked at her. "She's waiting in your room."
Kathryn looked over at her sister. "Is everything okay?"
"Said she had a surprise for you." Captain Awesome said snuggling closer to Kathryn. "Get in there, slugger."
Emma rolled her eyes and sprinted to her room. She opened the door and there she was standing there looking out toward Mal's apartment. . "hey Regina," She Said breathlessly, "Who is this Laszlo character? He just ID'd me as an agent."
"Relax." Regina interrupted, "We're looking into him. And you did the right thing."
"I... I didn't do anything!" Emma explained, "I just flashed on the guy".
Regina sighed then reassured the blonde, "You followed protocol, and I'm going to check in with you first thing in the morning." Then she headed toward the door.
"Wait, wait," Emma said. Regina turned to face the other woman, she was ready to continue reassuring her, but really it had been months. "Wait, wait, hold on, hold on. Wait, um…"Emma fidgeted a bit under the agent's scrutinizing gaze. "Look, if it's cool with you, could you hang out for a little while?" Regina paused in thought and understood Emma's hesitation. "Look, awesome and Kathryn thinks that I'm… Kind of getting lucky here, and I wouldn't want to disappoint…Them."
Regina nodded. "Uh, how long do you want me to stay?"
"42 minutes and 15 seconds?" Regina's eyebrows shot up at the specificity of the request. Emma rushed to explain. "Arcade fire's first album…It's like an auditory aphrodisiac. You're not really ready for it yet." Regina nodded and sat back down on Emma's bed. "Here we go."
They sat in silence for a few minutes. Regina had her reasons for not wanting to stay in a confined space with the blonde for longer than was necessary. Mainly because she tended to lose focus and concentrate on inane impossibilities. She seriously didn't need to continue fantasizing about a future that she was hinting towards with her cover.
Emma on her own part was fully infatuated with the older agent. She wanted her. And Regina's silence was driving her insane. Why had the woman even come into the room and even implied that she would have a sexy surprise waiting for Emma in her room for her to just turn around and flee seconds after she had just walked into the room? "Um…Why were you waiting for me in my room, anyway?"
"Well, I wanted to surprise you." She said reaching for a picture Emma hadn't noticed on her bedside. "Uh, it's, uh, it's us at comic-con." Regina handed the photo to Emma and paused. The blonde furrowed her brows as she looked at the photoshopped image of them both in really sexy costumes from one of her favorite shows. "What do you think?"
"It's... It's great." Emma managed to put some enthusiasm in her voice. "But we've never actually been to comic-con, have we?" Especially since the timeline didn't line up. They met after Comic-con. Ruby would notice. "Wow, we… We actually look like a real couple."
"Well," Regina corrected, needing Emma to understand how this worked. " we are a real couple. We're just a different sort of a couple."
"That we are…"
Emma and Regina's relationship just looked like it was flourishing. But it wasn't It was nothing, and Emma was beginning to hate pretending. On one particular mission, Emma stumbled upon a rogue asset, the Young asset had told Emma that she should only trust her handles as much as they trusted her. He told her to search her apartment for things they may have planted.
Emma frowned and did as she was told when she finally got home that night. She found seven bugs planted, including inside the Frame of the picture Regina had gifted her. After she found them she confronted Mal. "What the hell are these?" She asked throwing them at the older blonde's face.
"Seems you already know, Emma," Mal said stepping aside to let the Asset in. She looked around outside and then closed the door to follow the outraged girl.
"I can't believe you've been prying into my most intimate moments…" Emma ranted, "You know what? I swear to god, if I find out you've been spying on my sister, I will kill you, Blaize!"
Mal smirked, she would love to see her try. besides… "Intimate moments? Not really an issue thus far. At least, not in the sense of traditional two-person intimacy."
"He-he-he." Emma mocked, then turned back to anger. "Do you have any idea how violated I feel right now?"
"You feel violated?" Mal questioned. "No, no, no, my ears feel violated. 'Cause, they have to listen to you and that moron Ruby yammering on for four hours about what sandwich You're gonna take if you were stranded on a deserted island."
"What are you nuts?" Emma questioned. "Nobody was talking about sandwiches for four hours."
Mal picked up a remote and began to play a recording. The first voice Emma heard was her own.
Emma: Come on. Think about it- this is a desert island, Ruby. Mayonnaise simply doesn't fare well in the tropics-
Ruby: Oh, yeah, but define sandwich. 'Cause, technically you can put anything between two slices of bread. For instance, could I bring… A Jessica Alba sandwich to said desert island?
Emma: I-i suppose.
Mal stopped the recording there, as Emma registered that her life is kinda boring. But really she never asked to be brought into the spy life. Once again something that she could blame Daniel for.
"Well, I'll have you know, I stand by my mayonnaise theory." Emma stood corrected. "And you're still a giant douche for spying on me like that."
"Well, if it's any comfort, Em, we planted those bugs to protect you," Mal said conceding. "How did you find the surveillance, anyway?"
Emma did not find it a comfort. What if she had spoken Regina's name out loud in one of those masturbation sessions Mal had hinted at? Oh god had she? "Oh, a little birdie named Lazlo told me." the young asset realize the blunder she had made when she noticed the NSA agent's demeanor change. " What?"
"You contacted Lazslo and didn't tell me?"
Emma quirked a brow. "I'm sorry, Blaize…Did I violate your trust?" It was a cute attempt to take control for Emma, but of course, that entire situation had blown up in her face. She had helped the escape of a very dangerous asset. She also helped in his capture, but that is beside the point.
The point was, She was flailing in her real interpersonal relationships because of a Job and a crush on someone she couldn't have for real. And she was sick of it.
Emma began the task to strengthen those relationships that carried her. She no longer wanted to let spy work be the thing that kept her from them.
