What's in the box?
"Okay, Emma, our intel says Lou should be meeting Stella behind the club." Mal says to the asset as they gear up for an arrest,
"You guys are being paranoid." Emma stated "There's no way Lou's showing up here."
Regina rolled her eyes and looked at Mal. The older woman turned to Emma. "Now you're mic'ed."
Emma sighed and sagged back in her chair. "Great. Great, thanks a lot." She looked at the two other women and questioned. "And what will the sandwich police be doing on this stakeout?"
Regina looked up and out of the window. "Here we go. We got company." The brunette scrunched down in her seat to hide herself from the approaching vehicle.
Emma lowers herself as well and looks out of the window. It's Lou's car. "Believe us now?" Mal asked
"No." Said the younger woman and got out of the car. "As a matter of fact, I don't."
"Hey, Emma, wait…" Regina said making to go after Emma. But she was stopped by her partner. "No, wait. No, damn it. I'm going after her."
"They have us on tape." Mal stated "They recognize either of us, we could blow the whole operation."
Regina closed the door and watched as Emma approached the building instead.
Emma was new to the spy game. If she learned anything from her handlers is to follow at a safe distance. She found some containers and chairs stacked in the back of th club and crouched down to listen.
Lou met Stella in the back. She leaned on the other woman's black car as she had some dude out a crate.
"Thank you, Stella." Lou said sheepishly.
"Oh, my pleasure." Stella said approaching lou She stood close to her and nearly whispering asked, " So your friend, Emma, where'd you meet her?"
"She works at the Apple store, across from the deli." Lou said. "I took my phone in to get ?"
Stella smiled at Lou and reached to push a strand of hair behind her ear. "Just seems like a great girl." Stella dropped her hand and backed up. "I'll be back with the rest."
Stella walked away toward another crate, Emma watched until Stella was out of sight and jumped out. "Well Hello Lou,,, " Emma accuses.
"If that is in fact your real name Emma: I think the question is what are you doing here?"
"None of your business." Lou stated "Were you following me?Have you been spying on me?"
Emma furrowed her brows"Hold on a second, don't try and turn this around on me.
Okay, I'm not the one- I'm not the one smuggling…" Emma looked around and found a crow bar prying it open. "You know, what is this? What is this? Illegal, illegal things with my boyfriend."
FInally she got the create open and two italian meats fell out of the box. "Is that- what is, what is that?"
"Portuguese cured sopressata" Lou stated. Emma paused. "What'd you think was going to be in there?"
Emma looked at the meat confused. "I, uh, I didn't quite know. "I just saw you with Stella and I suspected the worst."
Lou chuckled and shook her head. "Right, well, congratulations, Emma.
Your suspicions have been confirmed. I'm a smuggler."
Emma panicked then, because she knew the CIA was listening. She tried to calm Lou, but the brunette continued to talk, "I know it's illegal! There's no additives or preservatives in it. It takes ten days to clear customs and by then it's gone bad. Okay, don't get me started on that FDA crap."
Emma removed her wire and placed inside a cup full of some sort of liquid. Effectively blocking her team from hearing. SHe just holed that Lou wouldn't break up with her at the end of the rant all the while knowing it was about to be over.
" can't hear anything. I'm going in." Regina said as soon as the sound went out.
"No, no, no, give her a minute." Mal stated. "You can't go in every time she breaks a nail."
Regina looked at Mal and rolled her eyes. "Just cover me." she said and maid her way to the back of the building.
She could hear the ranting brunet, and saw Emma standing there helplessly hoping wanting her to stop talking. "I'm sorry, Lou. I made a really big mistake." The blonde apologized.
"Looks like I did, too." Lou said and walked away and inside the building.
Regina walked out to see Emma . "Hey, what happened?"
Emma turned to Regina and said. "I blew it...Again."
Stella busted out of the building Lou had just gone into. "Yes, you did, Emma." She held up the hideous Minnie Mouse Pin and a gun drawn. "You most definitely blew it."
Stella then ushered them at gunpoint to a sedan and put them both in the trunk. Emma first then Regina, the two women spooning and handcuffed.
Once they were on the move, Emma turned her head and lifted herself a little to talk to her handler. "Why did you come in? I had the situation entirely under control."
"Yeah, I can see that." Regina spat out in annoyance.
"I assume you have a plan to get us out of this mess." Emma stated.
"Right now Mal's tracking your GPS device in your watch." Regina stated. "A swat team will be here any minute."
Emma's face blanched, "Yeah, about the watch…"
Mal: On her end decided to follow Regina, she'd been gone for longer than she expected. She followed the tracker and found Emma's watch in the cup of yohoo. "Idiot." Mal stated and went off to attempt to track Regina instead..
"Lou was incriminating herself and I didn't want her getting into trouble." Emma Explained to the angry brunette lying in front of her.
"Always the romantic, huh, Emma?" Regina spit out
"Jealous?" Emma asked.
"It was foolish." Regina yelled. "Do you really think the CIA is interested in a deli meat smuggler?"
Emma gasped. "Well, excuse me if I'm not Ms. Perfect spy. We can't all be Daniel Colt, now can we?"
Regina rolled her eyes, "Who's jealous now?"
"Me, jealous of you and Daniel?" Emma Scoffed, "Never."
"You said everything you want to say?"
"More or less."
"Good." Regina sneered, "Now, shut up. You're sucking up all the air."
At the apple store After closing, Dorothy walked up to Ruby who was playing with a new iPad air. Ruby glanced at her then back at the iPad. "Sorry I jammed my tongue down your throat."
"No worries, Ruby." Dorothy said, leaning against the counter where Ruby was playing the Apple Arcade game. It was a werewolf game and Ruby just looked down at the tablet contemplatively.
Ruby sighed. "The lone wolf does it right. You know, just jump around from mate to mate. Never settles down. This way… He never gets hurt."
"Maybe, but lone wolves are also lonely." Dorothy said and leaned closer and kissed her cheek. Ruby looked at the other woman who was standing very close to her still biting her lower lip and looking at Ruby in expectation. Then she kissed her full on the lips. Her body thrills when when she realizes Dorothy is kissing her back.
Mal lost track of her team. She needed to find them and fast. She had seen Lou finally leave, and maybe she knew of a place where Stella would take the women.
He went to her sandwich shop, and using her most recent discovery of smuggling she began to try to extract information. "Food and drug administration." Mal said flashing her id.
Lou turned to look at her. "How can I help you?"
"We know about the illegal meats you've been importing, miss." Mal said, trying to sem a bit menacing. "The FDA's been running a task force against the demetrios family for the last few months. You're going down for ten to twenty in a federal pen."
Lou looked at the older women in confusion. "For salami?"
"For guns." Mal stated.
"Guns?" Lou asked, finally spooked like the older woman wanted.
"The Demetrios family's been shipping guns into L. A. which means technically we can nail you for aiding and abetting terrorists." She paused. "Or you can help us."
"What would I have to do?"
"Give me the dock number where you're receiving your shipments from Stella."
Lou nodded, she wasn't about to do time for an ex. "Dock 14b, the northwest pier."
"Thanks." Mal stated, and paused on the way out of the door. "By the way, miss, your pastrami is delicious."
At the Pier, Emma and Regina were tied up. Yari, Stella and their goons standings round them. Regina attempted to assess the situation, as Emma of course panicked. She was not made for this.
"Time is of the essence, so I will cut to the chase." Stella's father started pulling his drill up and giving it a couple of trigger pulses. "We have a very important delivery that is about to be picked up and we need to know who else knows about it."
"Okay, I'll talk!I'll talk!" Emma said.
"No, Emma!" Regina warned.
"We, we know all about…" Emma continued. "The imported salami and, and, and, we're cool with it, man. The real crime is that it's illegal to begin with. Honestly, there's no need for torture, Yari.
He smirked, "Ms. Swan, I'm not going to torture you."
Emma breathed an exaggerated sigh of relief. "Great. Great, we're on the same page."
"I'm going to torture her." He signaled to Regina.
Emma blanched, and though Regina could handle herself she would feel horrible where harm come to her. "No, no, no, no, no, no." Emma said. "We're not on the same page anymore, Yari, we're not even in the same chapter." then one of his goons came closer to Regina, "No, no, no, please don't.." She started but trailed off as her mind flashed on the watch the man was wearing. "You killed a whole family outside Yerevan." She yelled at the advancing man. "You stole their heirlooms, and you sold all of them on the Russian black market except for that watch."
"How do you know that?" The man said stopping his progression.
She looked around at the other men around them, spotted a Tattoo and flashed again. "Your name is Vladimir Snell." she said coming back to herself. "Last year, you were paid $40,000 to kill a man named Leo Koloff."
"You told me we were paid 20." The first man said forgetting all about Regina.
"She's lying. She'll say anything to get out of trouble." Vladimir stated
"He knows about Yerevan." The first torturer stated picking up his gun. "He knows everything." Regina finally was able to pull her knife out from its sheath in her sleeve. "And you...Owe me money."
Yari pulled out a gun and shot Vladimir, knowing this had been a distraction. "Well, that settles that." He said as if he had not just murdered one of his goons. "So… If you will kindly tell me who else knows about our shipment."
Yari leveled a gun to Regina's head, but before he could cock his gun, a young man came into the warehouse. "The package is here." Every one turned to the young man. "Berth 19. We've got five minutes till it expires, sir."
Emma flashed on the information she saw on the young man's tablet confirming that this was where they would be waiting for the device.
Yari forgot all about the torture now, and turned toward the two. "All right, let's go. We'll just have to kill them."
Emma turned to Regina. "There's a weapon in the shipment. I think it's some kind of chemical bomb. We have to get to it before it blows."
Regina looked to the side and caught sight of Mal. Mal did a countdown as Regina finished cutting her ties with a knife tied to her boot and the one in her hand.
When the countdown was over, Mal shot out to distract the people around. The First torturer raised his gun toward Mal, Regina kicked out and made him shoot wild. And she pushed Emma's chair out of the way.
Mal came in guns blazing, and Regina ran after Emma to untie her. "I'll hold the fort." Mal shouted through the gun fire. "You go get the bomb- go!"
Regina and Emma ran out of the warehouse as fast as they could. "The bomb's at berth 19." Regina said. "Emma, I want you to get a s far away from here as possible."
"I'm coming with you." Emma said.
"No. Emma." Regina said stopping their run. "You're not going anywhere near a live bomb."
"Do you know how to diffuse a bomb?" Emma asked "Do you have an intersect in your head?" Emma waited to hear Regina affirmative response knowing she wasn't about to get one. " I didn't think so." Then she took off running toward Berth 19.
"Hey!Emma! Wait!" They got to the berth together, There was an enormous Crate sitting in an empty warehouse. Regina looked around for something to open it up. "Here. Help me out."
They grabbed a crowbar and together they pulled at the side of the crate.
The side of the box fell revealing a pill shaped contraption in blue with a dimer counting down on it. The two women hadn't ever seen anything like it. And Emma moved forward to see if she could rely on the intercept for this. "Okay... Okay, intersect. Flash.
Show me how to do this."
Regina looked at the timer 1 minutes and 48 seconds then back at Emma. "Did you flash?"
"No. Nothing." Emma pulled her hands through her hair and gripped. "Come on!Come on, come on, come on, baby, don't fail me now."
Regina Turned back to face her. "Okay, Emma, that's enough. Run . I'm going to try and stay and defuse it." Regina stated.
"No," Emma protested. "I'm not leaving you."
"Go. That is an order." Regina shouted.
"No." Emma said shaking her head and standing her ground.
Angry Regina stood and drew her gun on Emma. "I said go."
Emma nodded, "Oh, I you're going to shoot me to prevent me from getting blown up?" Emma rolled her eyes. "That's a great plan."
Regina threw her arms up and put her gun away. "Why are you so stubborn?"
"Actually, I consider this a rare moment of courage." Emma yelled back "I don't know where it's coming from, I guess you just bring out the worst in me."
"And you in me." then there was a high pitch ringing and it was now 10 seconds remaining.
The two women stared at each other, in a weird standoff. But Emma couldn't let that be the last thing she had said to Regina so she said. "It was nice knowing you." and closed her eyes with three seconds to spare.
Regina didn't want what she had said to be the last thing Emma thought of her she hurriedly cupped the younger woman's face and kissed her.
Emma opened her eyes in shock seeing that Regina was kissing her, then she kissed back. But there was no explosion.
There was complete silence when they finally separated. They looked to the receptacle that had expired, then back at Emma and said. "Well, the good news is, we're alive." Then she swallowed uncomfortably. "And the bad news is that this is kind of… An uncomfortable moment right now."
Emma shrugged slightly. "It's completely comfortable on my end…Just saying.
The next morning, Emma headed to Lou's shop before opening. She was pretty sure this thing with Lou was over, but She had to make sure she hadn't misread it. She didn't want to be with Lou anyway and it wasn't fair to her.
When she walked in Lou turned to look at her. She didn't say a word just looked. "Look, i… I know that you are so sick of hearing this, but I'm really sorry if I've acted like a jerk."
Lou did not seem to feel bad. She just turned to the blonde and said, "Emma, I know who you really work for. That you're an undercover agent."
Emma's brows furrowed, "How do you…"
"That woman, Mal from the food and drug administration came to see me, explained that you are an informant."
Emma sighed… "Right my cover has been blown. I'm an agent for the FDA."
"Can I ask you a question?" Lou said narrowing her eyes a little and coming closer. "This whole time, did you ever really like me?"
"Honestly?" Emma asked
"Yeah." Lou said with a nod. "Let's try that for the first time since we've met."
"Lou, I don't usually sleep with people, My My Ex Girlfriend was part of my cover, but I really wanted to be with you. " Emma sighed. "you are everything that I'm looking for. I just can't look right now."
"Well… Thank you for being honest." Lou said. "The next time my phone breaks, i'm going to the Bet Buy."
Emma placed her hand on her heart. "Oh, that... That hurts."
"And the next time that you're hungry…" Lou continued. "Take it to the Cheesecake Factory.".
"I'm really going to miss the Emma Swan."
Lou smiled. "So am i."
Emma turned to leave then thought of something else she had to say. "Hey, Lou."
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be." Lou stated. "Secret agent or no that was the best kiss I've had in a long time."
Emma walked into work and stood at the genius bar. Ruby standing with her. Dorothy walked by with a smirk "Hey, Ruby, can I borrow a pen?"
Ruby smiled at Dorothy and handed her the pen.
Emma's eyebrows shot up. The interaction wasn't just a simple hand off and her gaydar was going off like a tracking beacon. "What was that all about?"
"Oh, yeah, I got a girlfriend now, Emma."
"Dorothy?"
Ruby smiled and wiggled her brows. "She couldn't resist my animal magnetism. I almost feel bad for the kid. She never stood a chance, you know?"
Emma giggled, "My home girl, all grown up."
"Anyway... Hey!" Ruby said trying to steer away from the teasing she was about to endure. "You and Lou, this Friday, we'll double date."
Emma scrunched up her nose. "Lou and I broke up."
"What? You're a free woman?" Ruby said and turned to look for Dorothy. "Dot…"
Emma Hit Ruby upside the head. "Don't be stupid… I'm gonna get Back with Regina… She kissed me this weekend… I don't think we are over each other."
"Yes babe?" Dorothy said having heard Ruby call for her.
"Nothing, " She looked over at Emma and walked away with Dorothy to the back room.
Regina and Mal walked back into the Berth. If this package was not a bomb what was it? Someone had Shot Yari while Mal was fighting with him, but why. "Whoever shot Yari was here to pick up this package." Regina said.
"Someone who didn't want Yari to talk." Mal agreed
The bomb squad was there trying to determine the dud and if it could be reactivated. "All clear," Said the captain of the squad, "Looks mean, but it's non lethal. That timer wasn't a fuse, it was measuring an oxygen supply."
Just then Regina got a text From Emma. She opened it up and read.
Emma: Look, I was just wondering if you wanted to go out on a date tonight. And by "date" I mean no gps and no mikes and no chaperones- it'd just be us.
Regina's heart sped up as she read but the Squad was able to open the box and distracted her. Though she could still feel texts from Emma coming in.
Emma: I'm thinking maybe we could hit up sabarro. They just named a new pizza after Ruby, and, uh, you know, I kind of wanted to support her.
The lid to the capsule opened up and a cloud of white billowed out. She couldn't see what was in it.
Emma: So...Okay. Bye.
When the mist cleared, it revealed a body. Regina moved closer to the body and gasped. "Oh, my god, Daniel."
Mal Furrowed her brows. "Didn't I kill him?"
