CHAPTER TWO
The next day, at 7 in the morning, Rei picked Shiho up at the professor's house.
"Good morning, Professor, i want to pick up Miyano-san'', Rei's said.
"Good morning, Furuya-san, How have you been? Furuya-san, I always imagine you as Shiho's husband'', The professor said this while Shiho suddenly came out and cut him off. Rei smiled and blushed when he heard what the old man was talking about.
"PROFESSOR..'', Shiho shouted his name after she heard this old man talk about marrying the man who confessed to her a week ago.
"Oh Shiho-kun'' Agasa grinned.
"Professor, i'm go, Furuya-san, let's go'', Shiho rushed to the door, and said goodbye to Professor Agasa.
"Nice to meet you, Professor. We'll go," Rei said, then bowed.
"Have a good day, both of you, take care of Shiho, Furuya-san'' , professor shouted, sure that Shiho and Furuya could hear him. Shiho entered Rei's car, she sat on the passenger seat right beside the handsome officer, and then Rei started the car's engine.
"Furuya-san, don't mind what the professor said before, I apologize'', Shiho said.
"Never mind, really. I think i share the same brain's cell with him'', Rei smiled widely, Shiho silenced, then she looked at the window.
Shiho took the pistol out, and twirled it.
"Are you nervous? You don't have to get out of the car, you can stay here. I'll capture the drug dealer, Kazami will be my backup'', Rei said after looking at the girl beside him.
"You underestimate me, Furuya-san'', She glared at him.
"I don't, never. I'm just worried, you haven't gone directly to a mission like this in a long time'', Rei replied. "I am concerned about you, Miyano-san, and I promise to protect you even if it costs my life'', he continued. Shiho was speechless. She looked at that man, and she knew he was serious.
"Don't say that, i don't want you to die in front of me, i can't'' Shiho said, She continued to stare at the window after that. Rei smiled bitterly, then the silence enveloped them. The car's stopped, and Rei and Shiho get out of the car and prepare their respective guns.
"Furuya-san, i'm serious, i can't see someone's death again, at least not for me'', Shiho looked directly into her partner's eyes. Rei nodded, and he smiled sincerely at her.
"I understand, Let's go'', Rei replied. Somehow, Shiho had a bad feeling, she kept staring at the man who was walking in front of her. "God, please protect him'', Shiho thought. She continued following Rei.
The Rest NPA agent arrived at the location that Rei shared with Kazami.
Rei and Shiho captured the drug dealer, three of them there, they tied the three men to the stake. Rei just realized there should be four of them, then he looked at Shiho. There was a man behind Shiho pointing a gun at that woman. Rei immediately ran towards Shiho and hugged her while turning his body, to protect the girl from that man's shot. Shiho was shocked when she heard gunshots—not only one, but three gunshots. The two gunshots from that man towards her hit Furuya while he hugged him tightly. And one last shot from Kazami, he shot that man, and another agent captured him and the rest of the drug dealers.
Shiho still hugged Furuya's body, and she realized this man was protecting her from being shot.
"SOMEBODY HELP ME... NO,,, FURUYA-SAN,, PLEASE DON'T DIE ON ME", she shouted histrionically. Kazami called an ambulance, and Furuya passed out on Shiho's lap from bleeding too much. Shiho accompanied Rei from the ambulance to the hospital, she waited outside the operating room. Kazami contacted Professor Agasa and told him the chronology of that event.
Professor Agasa and Shinichi Kudou came to the hospital, they accompanied Shiho as she waited for Rei's operation.
"Shiho, you must take a rest, you can go home with Professor, I, Kazami-san, and the rest will call you if something happens to him'', Shinichi told her.
"He will be alright, right? I've told him before, don't die on me'', she replied.
"He will be alright,Shiho-kun. Shinichi, you must take a rest'', the professor said.
Shiho shook her head and said, "I want to be here, you can go home with Kudou-kun, professor''. The operation was a success, for two days, Rei was unconscious, and Shiho didn't leave his hospital bed. Rei sleeps very peacefully, his eyes closed, his breathing quite and regular, she was the opposite of him, she couldn't sleep. Her body was exhausted, but she still couldn't rest at all.
"Shiho, you're exhausting yourself. You're the one who has no conscience if you do that'' Shuichi Akai growled. Shiho looked at the voice, her cousin was there at the door, and he walked in her direction.
"Shu-nii.. why are you here?'' Shiho asked.
"I heard from Kudou-kun, Furuya got shot, and he is unconscious in this hospital, so i'm here to see him'', He replied, and he stood up across from her, beside Furuya's bed.
"Hmm..'', Shiho looked at Furuya's face.
"Furuya-san must be sad if he looks at you in this state, Shiho, who do you think he wants to see the most when he wakes up?'' Akai replied, he saw the tears fall silently on Shiho's lifeless face. Shuichi sighed, He walked towards the woman for whom he cares a lot, and hugged her, this action made Shiho cry more.
"Fu.. Rei... can't he wake up, Niichan?'' She broke the hug, and looked into Shuichi's eyes directly. The older man smiled, and nodded.
"He will wake up soon, Shiho. Now, go home, you need rest, i will be here tonight. I promise to accompany Furuya-san'' Shuichi replied. Shiho hugged her brother once again, thanked him, and then left that room.
"Furuya Rei,, i told you, you and i, neither of us can beat him in her heart. I think i was wrong, just me who cannot. She always saw me as her brother. You must wake up soon'', Shuichi Akai said, he sat beside Rei's bed.
Shuichi Akai saw the man twitching his fingers, and Rei opened his eyes. Rei regained consciousness, and the first person he saw was not the person he wanted, but his eternal enemy, Shuichi Akai.
"Shiho went home last night, she will come back today'', Akai said to his rival. Akai called the doctor, he snorted while the doctors were checking Rei's condition.
"Furuya, thank you for saving Shiho'', Akai continued. Furuya smirked, then looked at him and said, ''It's okay, i'm not dead anyway, and you don't need to thank me, like i said before, i love her''.
Akai glared at him, if only he were not a patient here, he would punch him in the face. Rei sat up on his bed while the door opened. Shiho dropped the coffee that she had brought for Akai when she saw Rei sitting on the bed.
Her steps were slow, she stood in front of him, her emerald green eyes fixed on him, Rei noticed that her hands were shaking constantly.
"Shiho'', Rei's eyes on her.
"You're awake'' Shiho's voice was hoarse, and her eyes were instantly red. Her hands wrapped around his neck, warm tears soaking the patient's shoulder, ''Thank God, you're really awake," she said while hugging him tightly, Rei's body automatically pulled back a little. Shiho realized her mistake, and hurriedly stepped back, raising her hand to wipe away the tears on her own cheeks. She turned away from him and murmured, "I'm sorry''. Rei was dumbfounded, while Akai watched silently.
A few days later, Shiho was still by Rei's side to take care of him, waiting for him to fully recover. He was happy, enjoying her warm care, and praying that it would be good for him to stay sick like this forever.
"Shiho, aren't you going home?'', Rei said.
"This is my responsibility, to take care of you '' she smiled and replied. Her words dig dipper into his heart, all about these only for her responsibility because he saved her, she had to take care of him, then Rei smirked.
"What about that smile?'', Shiho looked in his direction.
"Nothing, Miyano-san you don't have to take care of me again, it is not your responsibility. I saved you because i wanted, you're the most important person for me, it was my choice, not your fault'', Rei replied while looking directly into her emerald green eyes.
"Pardon me,, why suddenly do you call me Miyano-san again?'' she asked him, She stared into that guy's eyes.
"I just remembered someone demanding me to call her name like that, my sincere apology, i call you Shiho these days'' Rei continued. Shiho doesn't know why it hurts when she hears Rei's statement like that.
"Don't need, it's okay, you can call me by my name, Shiho, but not Shiho-chan'' She glared at him. She caught Rei laughing while he heard her, she laughed with him, and, she brought a bowl of porridge for him.
"Do you know, Shiho, i thought that wouldn't it be better to be injured a little more, to be taken care of like this. I want to be like him, Gin was killed when he saved you'', Rei didn't continue what he said when he saw her trembling hands, her expression suddenly changed, and the bowl on her hand fell and broke.
Rei quickly stood up and walked in her direction, Shiho was still standing in front of the table. , ''Shiho, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it'', Rei grabbed her trembling hands and said, ''Shiho? Hey, I'm sorry'', he continued.
Silently, the image of Gin, full of blood, appeared in her mind. Then, she looked up into Rei's eyes, the determination in them making her startled.
"Furuya Rei, do you love me?'', she asked. Furuya hummed softly, surprised, and he nodded affirmatively. "Of course'', he added.
"I don't love you, can't you wait for me?'' Shiho looked into his eyes. Rei knew that girl didn't lie , but his heart throbbed painfully to hear this word directly from her mouth. " Give me time, not now. Can't you wait for me?'' she continued. Rei had been silent for a few minutes.
"Furuya?'' She spoke softly, ''If you don't accept, i understand.''
A powerful kiss came suddenly, and when he released her, both panting, his lips curled up.
"I told you, I can wait forever if it comes to you, Shiho, You're the most important person to me'', he replied, then continued kissing her gently. Rei leaned in for a deeper kiss, his hand wrapping around her waist.
The door suddenly opened,'' Furu.. Oh, sorry, I'll be back later'', Kazami turned his body again to the door. The couple was apart, Shiho pushed Rei's body and then called Kazami ''Kazami-san, you can stay. I'll wait outside, it must be an important case, if you come here.''
Kazami turned his body again to see Furuya's unpleasant look, Shiho wanted to walk away from him, but Furuya grabbed her wrist, and he whispered, ''We will continue this, don't run from me again, Shiho''. Shiho looked at the man, blushed and smiled, and walked to the door.
"What do you want to report to me this exquisite morning, Kazami?'' Rei asked his subordinate. Kazami blushed as he entered the room, ''I'm sorry to disturb you, Furuya-san, I had a news about vodka, the member of that foundation before.''
"Come here, and please reduce your volume, she is outside'', Rei cut him off. Vodka is Gin's subordinate, he is very loyal to him, but Rei knew that man didn't like Shiho. Two years ago, he managed to escape, The NPA team and FBI are still looking for his whereabouts to this day.
Two days later, after the couple's first kiss, Rei was discharged from the hospital. He and Shiho are dating now, Rei suggested to Shiho that they move into his apartment, and live there together, but Shiho refused.
