Old Flames Reunited (Chris/Kat)

Summary: Set in TW S2. Kat ends up in Beacon Hills after escaping the prison world and Kai, having ended up in the prison world after she died in VD S8. When she ends up in Beacon Hills, she knows where she is, despite being injured from Kai, because she was in town as a vampire before she went to Mystic Falls in VD S2, so she knows both Hale wolves and Chris pretty well. Because she's injured, will she be found before it's too late? If so, who will find her? Will she be okay?

It was a nebulous night as Katherine, human, found herself in the woods after escaping the prison world and Kai, injured. Though injured, she recognized these woods. After all, she'd been here for a time as a vampire before going to Mystic Falls all those years ago. When she'd been in this town, she'd made a couple wolf friends and had had a connection with the town hunter. Especially, after he'd lost two family members to werewolves.

As she lay there, she thought of trying to get to him, but she knew she was too injured to go anywhere. She just had to wait for either Peter, Derek, or Chris to find her.

Chris was in the woods as usual, when he suddenly saw someone very familiar. He knew vampires could only be injured by werewolf bites, so he knew she wasn't one anymore. Then, when he went and knelt by her, he knew she was definitely human and injured. He didn't know how she was here, though. That didn't matter right now, though. What mattered was getting her to the hospital. He knew she didn't like them, but he didn't know injuries to this extent. He just knew it was pretty bad. This was something he couldn't tend to himself.

"Hang on, Katherine," he said, seeing that she was still awake. He could also see that she was starting to go under from her injuries and blood loss.

He gently picked her up and headed to the hospital.

When she woke up, she saw where she was. The hospital. Unlike usual though, she didn't care. She was just glad that Chris had found her in time to save her.

She sat up in bed slowly, knowing from experience that she had to be careful. She knew how easily she could get hurt or make it worse. This wasn't the first time she'd ended up in a hospital. Unlike last time though, she wasn't dying.

A few hours later, she was released, so she left the hospital to go find Chris. She needed a place to stay. She also needed protection in case any enemies decided to show up. And living with a hunter was the best protection next to supernatural creatures. At least, those that weren't her enemies.

Chris was at home, when he heard someone knock on the door. Wondering who or what it was, he went to the door, his usual gun in hand just in case, always being cautious as usual. It was an instinct due to being raised up as a hunter, but also, he was cautious since he lived alone now, considering he was the only Argent left that lived in the home. Plus, he didn't have much of allies or friends really. The closest he got to people like that were a couple werewolves and Katherine.

He opened his front door, once he reached it, only to be relieved when he saw that it was only Katherine, so he put the gun away, since she was no threat as a human. Although they were allies when she'd been a vampire, he knew to be cautious anyways, because her as a vampire could be dangerous, but now she wasn't a danger.

"Katherine," he greeted her.

"Hi, Chris," she greeted back. "If it's okay with you, I was hoping I could stay here with you for a while. You could use the company and I could use the protection, just in case," she continued. "Thanks, by the way. You saved my life," she added.

"Of course," he replied, expecting nothing less than this from her, and stepped aside to let her inside.

She walked inside, and he closed the door behind her.

A month later, Kat and Chris had gotten used to living with each other. They'd even gone out hunting things with one another. So, now they were quite comfortable with one another, working side by side, though she still had to learn to have control over her active magic. And she still had things to learn. After all, it wasn't like Nadia had been able to give her a rundown before she'd died all those years ago. She had to get help from elsewhere. Tonight, she was out walking around. She and Chris knew about some killings happening, so they'd gone separate directions like they sometimes did, but this time seemed like it could be different to her. She just didn't know why. The killings seemed to be vampire related, so she was afraid of it being a possible enemy. She just hoped it wasn't one of her greatest enemies.

Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, sensing something close by. Then, in a blur, she was grabbed from behind, a hand around her.

"It's been a long time, Katherine," he stated, which let her know who he was.

"Adrian," she said, but it wasn't a greeting towards him.

"We're going to have some fun together," he replied.

"Go ahead. Do whatever you're planning," Kat replied. Unlike normal humans that didn't know any better, she knew her enemies usually, so unless she was in true danger without anyone to help her, she wasn't going to fight. She didn't need to right now. Plus, she wasn't alone. She had werewolves, a hunter, and a few out of town vampires that would help her if she was in danger. She knew despite Damon always showing and saying that he could care less, when it came to an enemy, they were always on the same side. They had a rule. Any enemy harmed either of them, the other would make the enemy suffer one way or another. And Chris, Peter, and Derek would never let her be killed. First though, they had to know that something had happened to her, which is why, while she told Adrian that, she made part of her hand bleed a little, leaving some blood for anyone looking for her to find. Then, she let Adrian take her wherever he was going to take her to.

After Chris had had no luck with finding who was responsible, he went in search of Katherine. Then, when he found a little bit of blood in just one spot, instead of it being a trail, he realized it wasn't another victim. Instead, it was Katherine telling whoever was looking for her that the vampire she may or may not know had taken her. Realizing that, Chris left the woods to think of a plan to get her back, knowing she was human and had quite a lot of enemies. If this was an enemy vampire, he'd have a plan for her most likely. Chris wasn't going to wait around to find out what his plan was for her. He was going to make his own plan get her back from him.

Meanwhile, Adrian had taken her to the tunnels and had her chained to some of the pipes, keeping her sitting on the ground, making sure she didn't escape him.

"So, what's the plan, Adrian? You have me. Now what?" Kat inquired of him. Human or not, she was always one to try and find out her enemy's plan. If she knew his or her plan, then she could find a way out to get out. She wasn't going to give anything away that Adrian wanted willingly, though. Everyone knew that they'd have to compel her first before she gave anything away.

"I know what you're trying to do. It won't work," Adrian countered her. He was just as smart as she was, after all.

When Adrian told her that, she knew that she wouldn't be able to know what his plan was or what he was going to do about those she cared about, so she knew she was defeated. The only thing left was either to get herself out of here, or wait for Chris to find her and put an end to Adrian.

What seemed like several hours later in the tunnels with Adrian, she saw Chris find the area of the tunnels they were in and shoot Adrian several times. Because the bullets were filled with werewolf venom, she assumed from Adrian visibly weak suddenly, Adrian's weakness was enough to give Chris time to kill him with a stake. Then, after putting his weapons away, she saw Chris rush to her side. She was weak herself, though. She'd tried to escape a few times which had given her some wounds from Adrian. She knew from her weakness that the last wound he'd given her had opened up her thigh artery. Thankfully though, he was here.

"You found me," she commented with a smile, even though she was weak, as Chris started to get her untied from the pipes.

"Of course, I did," he replied.

After he'd gotten her untied, he helped her up. Then he got her to the hospital to be taken care of again.

When she woke up after a while, she expected to be in the hospital, but instead, she found herself in his bed, him seated on her bedside, having been waiting for her to wake up. She knew that that meant that she'd been taken care of at the hospital, but he'd taken her home to his place afterwards, before she'd woken up.

She gave a smile.

"You saved me again. Thanks."

"Well, you'd do the same if it was reversed," he replied.

They gave each other a smile. She then sat up in bed. Then, after a few moments of looking at one another, they began to make out.
