Summary: Set after VD S8 and in TW S3. Kat comes to Lydia, much like Peter did, but not in a terrifying manner. Kat wants her to bring her back to life, since she knows that something's coming. Will Lydia decide to bring her back after Kat tells her that a lot of people will die if she doesn't, since Kat believes she can help stop it? If so, can Kat help stop the alpha pack and Jennifer?
Lydia found herself face to face with a girl, as she stood in the woods. She didn't know her, but she wasn't scary. Not like Peter had been when he'd been showing himself to her.
"We don't know each other, but we will soon. What I do know is that you're Lydia. I also know what you are. I need your help."
"What do you want?" Lydia asked.
"I need you to bring me back to life."
"Why should I? The last person I brought back turned out to be a manipulative lunatic," she wanted to know.
"Because something's coming. If you don't bring me back, a lot of people could get killed. I can stop it, though."
"And how do I bring you back?"
"Easy. You find the dead, but you also see the dead. You know when someone's about to die, too. You're connected. If I touch you, I'll live again. You just have to focus on that."
After a few minutes of thinking it over, Lydia made up her mind to help her. The girl seemed to know that, because she put hands on her a moment after Lydia made the decision. Then, a few minutes later, she was alive.
Katherine took her hands off of her arms.
"Thank you for bringing me back. Now, I can help stop what's coming. My name is Katherine Pierce," the human said.
"What's coming?" she asked.
"Ever heard of Dark mother nature or an alpha pack?" Katherine asked her.
"No. I didn't even know that werewolves existed until recently," Lydia informed her.
"Well, a very long time ago, mother nature went Dark. If she comes back, people are going to die as sacrifices. As for the alpha pack, they were created by a werewolf that seeked vengeance. His pack is full of hatred, loyal to him, no matter what he asks them to do. He loves his power, so he goes throughout the world, searching for wolves. Then he has them kill their pack to gain power. Anyone that doesn't do what he asks, he kills. Now, I need to go and warn a few wolves," she informed her.
The Traveler descendant was about to leave, but stopped in her tracks, feeling a hand on her arm.
"Wait."
Kat turned and looked at her, the hand no on her arm anymore.
"You said you know what I am. I need to know what's going on. Why am I finding dead bodies? Why do I see things? I don't understand. Please."
Kat knew she had to tell her, so she did.
"You're a banshee, honey. It's what banshees do. They get signs. They even get led to the dead. It's just happening more for you, because you live in a town with too many supernatural occurrences."
Kat walked away to go warn some of her favorite wolves. The last time she'd been here, she'd been a vampire.
Lydia watched her go, as she tried to wrap her head around the idea.
Banshee? she thought to herself.
As she thought about what it meant, she was a little happy. Finally, she had the answers to all of her questions. She finally understood.
Katherine entered the loft, but only saw one werewolf. The baddest living Hale she knew.
"I hope you're ready," she stated, as she approached, making Peter raise eyebrows at her.
"For what?"
"I'm sure you know that the alpha pack is here. Dark mother nature will be coming, too. Where's Derek?" she said.
"He's on a suicide mission to save a couple wolves in the old bank vault. I'm not up to fighting speed yet, considering I only recently came back to life," he informed her.
"I just came back to life myself. Now, I'm human like I was before I died, due to a cure being shoved down my throat. I'm also descended from Travelers, so I've got some magic. I'll go get Derek."
"Be careful," he cautioned her.
"I always am," she replied, as she left.
When she got inside the bank and followed the sound of fighting, she found the scene. Derek was having to fight a couple wolves. One of which, she recognized as Derek's baby sister, Cora. Apparently, she was alive. She knew Cora of all wolves wouldn't attack her brother, so she realized that there had to be hecatolite in the walls, making them vicious wolves. She knew how to help them, though. And so, she did just that.
"Cora!" she said, before breaking the seal, allowing them to run out. They didn't get far though, because she made an invisible shield, making them stay in one little area. Then she rushed to Derek's side. "Derek," she said, looking at his wounds and claw scratches.
"What are you doing here?" he asked her, vision blurry, as he lay on his back.
"Saving your life," she answered him. "Your wolves are inside an invisible shield. They won't get out unless I allow them to. Let's get you home."
She got up, before putting an arm around him, helping him to his feet. She then helped him walk, hoping she could make it to the loft, considering the wounds he had.
Half an hour later, she entered the loft, heading to the bed, holding him up. She then got him into bed, before finding the first-aid kit and using a towel to apply pressure to his lower stomach wound. She didn't know why he wasn't healing right now, but she did know that she wasn't going to let anything happen to him.
"Stay with me, Derek," she said, and did her best to concentrate on magically healing him. She wasn't sure how healing worked through magic, though. When she concentrated though, she finally got to healing him, so she was able to heal all of his wounds, including the scratches. She then put the towel on the end table and sat on his bedside. "Derek, can you hear me?" she called, a hand on the side of his face.
A few minutes later, she saw him start to wake up, so she took her hand away from his face, resting it on top of his hand.
"Katherine," he stated, when he'd woken up and saw her. He then realized that he was healed already. She wasn't a vampire like last time though, so he didn't think that she'd healed him with blood, which meant that she had to have another surprise in store for him.
"Hey," she said, as he sat up in bed. She then gave a smile. "You're lucky I'm here."
"How are you here, though?" he wanted to know.
"I had someone bring me back to life. I kinda got a cure shoved down my throat and died, I'm human again, which means I have magic. I'm descended from Travelers. And I know about the alpha pack being here. Someone else will be coming too, so I was able to convince the person to bring me back so I can help stop all of this."
"Well, thanks," he replied, thanking her for saving him, realizing that she'd healed him through magic.
She got to her feet.
"You're welcome."
The next day, Derek was fully recovered and Kat took the wolves back to the loft when they were themselves again. Then, after they were back to themselves, they all started planning on a take down of the alpha pack.
"We'll take the fight to the alpha pack. I have active magic I can use, you're getting stronger each day, and Derek should be back to fighting speed soon," she said, talking to Peter when she mentioned the part of getting stronger, as well as the part about Derek. Then she added, "There's five against five. An even number. Together, we can handle them. We just need to get them together in one place away from any innocent people."
"Well, there's not a lot of places that fit that kind of description," Derek reminded her.
"Well, we have to do something. I'm not going to sit around and wait for them to come to us," Kat replied to him.
"She's right. I'm in," Cora automatically agreed, very much ready after what they'd done to her and Boyd.
A few nights later, the alphas went to the hospital, so that's where Kat met with Cora and them to take down the alphas. She was magically able to keep the twins from forming into one big alpha, making it easier for them to take them down. She then let the wolves take care of Kali and Ennis, while she dealt with Deucalion. They knew by now that he wasn't always blind, but that didn't stop her. He was used to dealing with other wolves. He'd never dealt with someone with magic or a witch before, so it wasn't too hard for her. Then, when it was all said and done, they were all taken out and Peter was able to kill Deucalion, resulting in Peter getting his full strength back.
"You guys go. I'm gonna make sure everyone else is okay," she told them. Then lights began to flicker and the power started to nearly run out, which Kat knew had to mean that the next threat was here. Dark mother nature. "On second thought, you guys help anyone that needs it, while I check on everyone else," she added. Then she went down some hallways to make sure no one had been hurt in the alpha attack.
When she was on the second floor, she spotted someone she knew from when she was a vampire the last time she'd been in town. A doctor that knew what existed. She didn't see anyone else around in the hallway, as she headed over to help, which was when she saw the wound. A deep upper leg wound from what appeared to be from a werewolf's claws.
She knelt down by her, looking at the wound with her eyes. Then she looked at her.
"Katherine?" Melissa said, a hand to her wound, seeing her, but also noticing that she looked different. She didn't look like she was a vampire anymore.
"It's me, Melissa. I'll fill you in later, but I'm human now. I kinda died and then came back to life as a human. I have magic, too. I'm going to heal you," she replied. Then when Melissa took her hand away from her wound, Kat magically healed Melissa's wound. Then she helped her up. "Let's get you somewhere safe. Everyone else will take care of the patients." She then put a hand on her arm to help her.
"What's going on?" Melissa inquired, knowing that when Katherine said something like that, it meant that something was happening or about to.
"Something's coming. Dark mother nature, also known as a Darach. She needs to sacrifice some people. I assume you'd be one of them, considering she needs a healer, a virgin, a warrior, a philosopher, and a guardian. She's going to have to use a special old tree to accomplish that. If she hasn't already started. I think the safest place would be Peter's loft. I know you aren't his biggest fan, but he'll help protect you."
A while later, everyone was back at the loft unscathed, Katherine having helped Melissa get settled in upstairs. She'd warned Chris, the town hunter too. She just wasn't sure who Jennifer would also be taking with her, so she didn't know for certain who else to warn.
A few nights later, the Darach was taken care of with a minimum of casualties, only two strangers getting killed, Peter having killed the Darach, gaining him more power, though it wasn't about the power. It was about protecting people. Like Katherine. She may have been with Derek when she'd been a vampire, but he knew there was also a connection between him and Katherine, considering they were so much alike. It didn't matter whether she was human or not.
In the end, after both the alpha pack and Jennifer were taken out, Kat and Derek's relationship continued. After all, with both of them taken out, they could finally have peace for a while, allowing them to be together again.
