Chapter two:
Josephine turns to me letting our eyes meet. "Welcome to the Fallen Angels." Her words makes me worried about me being here in the first place. "You are welcome here so there won't be any sort of trouble. Come." She gestures for me to follow and moves a chair out for me before sitting in another chair.
I follow as I don't think that I will be able to get out of this at this point. I have come too far into here. I sit down in the chair and glance around at the others there. I can't help noticing that the group seems to have preferences to different era clothing. I find it a little intriguing. I see mostly women with a few men dotted in the group here and there. I turn back to Josephine when she speaks.
"The development that we have learned about is very troubling indeed with you in its very center." Josephine tells me as I listen to her. "We aren't just some Yakuza gang. We are a group dedicated to help those that need our help. We do have a deal with your family that dates back generations. However that is a story for another time. Right now what we need to discuss is something that we have become aware of. Your parents are planning on taking things further. They have made a post asking if anyone would want to rent you for high sums of money."
I find my shoulders raise and my eyes widen upon hearing this. I can't believe that things are getting worse than they already are. I don't want to be forced into potentially worse situations!
"We believe that they also plan to make you do the same thing you are doing while also doing this rent out thing. They've even offered times when you're supposed to be at school." Josephine continues and I almost feel dizzy at this revelation.
I might be getting taken out of school to be forced to do more than they are already forcing me to do.
"We are trying to find a way to get you out of this situation. You can always join us, we will keep you safe plus you'll never be forced into such things you will be free instead, however there is a catch." Josephine stares at me with a look to tell me that I cannot take any of this as a joke. "You must be willing to become a vampire."
I almost jump out of my chair in shock at this. "W-What?" I question to her.
"I am sorry. Our group is here for those that need escape from situations like yours and other such situations. However the price to pay is becoming one of us. A vampire. We do leave it up to each person. If you want to, and accept that condition, then we'd be happy to welcome you. If not then we can leave you alone if you so desire. The choice is truly yours."
I sit there feeling so stunned that I can't even think straight about this. I open my mouth though I am not even sure what to say so I shut my mouth.
"That is alright. You can think on it. We will continue to aid you in anyway that we can until you come to a decision. We know that it is a big decision so we will give you some time to ponder over your decision. We just wanted to lay down the offer to you. You are someone that has been chosen as one who needs help though only if you would accept the help we wish to offer to you. Do you understand everything? We can answer any questions that you may have if you so desire." Josephine stops to wait to see if there is any questions that I may have directed to her about any of this.
I try to slow my racing thoughts in order to try to really think about what is going on here. I find it a little hard to do so as it felt like all the information about this was just hurtled at me with no stopping it until it hits me. "I-I am not sure."
"That is alright. It must be a big shock to you." Josephine smiles to me before she gets up. "Well you can hang out here with us if you desire instead of returning to what you are told to do. Or I can drive you back if you want."
I let my eyes dart over the group who despite being serious do give me smiles and looks of assurance. I slightly glance away still rather uncertain how I feel about all of this. I mean I would truly enjoy having more freedom given to me, something I have longed for only to never get as if it was never for me in the first place. I think hard before deciding. "I'll stay here for now. I don't want to have customers while trying to think a little more on this."
"That is alright. We will let you stay with us until it is time for you to go back." Josephine smiles kindly to me.
I nod my thanks then turn to look down as I try to calm my shock down to try to think on their offer. I find that I may have to take the entire time here to try to calm myself. I sneak a glance to the others who have even began to talk amongst themselves so comfortably as if they are a tightknit family. I suppose them being vampires would make sense for their preferred dress style as that must have been the way to dress when they joined the group. I look away before any of them catch me looking at them. I try to calm my mind down while I wait.
Later…
I didn't manage to think about their offer much as I finally calmed my shock down when it was time to go. I stare out of the window while I am being driven not far from my pick up spot.
Josephine pulls up then hands me a piece of paper. "My number. Text me if you need anything or if you have come to a decision." She then grabs something behind her which is a bag of money. "And this is to keep you from getting in trouble. No need to worry about repaying us in anyway. That won't be needed."
I take the money hesitantly with help of her encouraging look. "Thank you." I mention to her getting a smile in return. I get out of the car and head towards the meet up spot for me to be picked up. I get home safely and my parents are so happy with my earnings that they are gushing over it.
"This might be your best night yet!" Mother mentions even though I am only half paying attention to them. She looks to me with a smile yet a serious look in her eyes. "Kaoru. We are going to be adding an expansion to your services. To earn the family more money." Her words really catch my full attention now. "At any point you will be pulled away to be rented to a high paying customer. It's not like you'll actually need school for the type of work you'll be doing to make yourself useful to this family."
I try to not shudder as I realize that what the Fallen Angels were saying is true.
Things are truly only getting worse for me!
I just find myself a little stuck. I don't want to abandon Hikaru, however escaper from this fate sounds so good to me right now. I just nod knowing I need to give some sort of response. Even with my mind trying to decide on what it is that I should do.
"Great! In four days that will begin. We already have some customers lined up in a waiting list to be your first customers." Mother mentions and I feel disgusted.
I hate what I am forced to do and now they're adding onto it. I get a thought of if the escape the Fallen Angels offer me would be such a bad thing after all… I am just not so sure that I would really want to become a vampire just to be able to escape. I don't know what to do…
