(Two days later)
As the Loud sisters back and Royal Woods were preparing on how to knock Lynn and Lola off of their high horse, Lincoln on the other hand that spent the last two days trying to find Ballonlea, or more specifically the Ballonlea stadium, where he would face the gym leader Opal for his fifth gym badge!
"Finally!"exclaimed Lincoln as he was exhausted as he had spent the last two days lost in the Glimwood Tangle... the forest between Ballonlea and Stow-on-Side.
"Phew... those Ghost Pokemon did not make it easy getting here that's for sure..."said Lincoln, who to say was exhausted would be an understatement.
"I better report to the Pokemon center as my Pokemon team has seen better days and we need to be in tip top shape if we hope to take on the master of fantastic theater."said Lincoln, before he began making his way to the Pokemon center located in Ballonlea.
Once there he immediately made his way to the front desk and handed his pokeballs over to Nurse Joy.
"I'm assuming you're here to take on Opal?"questions Nurse Joy.
"Yeah... but it took longer than I expected as I ended up getting lost in the Glimwood Tangle."admitted Lincoln with a bit of embarrassment.
"It's nothing to be ashamed of as most travelers get lost on their way to Ballonlea, if it's not every day that someone has built an entire city deep inside of a forest."said Nurse Joy.
"Yeah, well I admit that this place is absolutely beautiful as the giant glowing mushrooms add so much appeal to living here as this place looks like it came out of a fairy tale book."said Lincoln, knowing that his sister Lola or possibly Lucy would love to live here.
"Haha, I suppose that's one of the reasons why this place was built in the first place. So just wait a few minutes and your Pokemon will be completely healed."said Nurse Joy, before she turned and placed the pokeballs in a healing machine.
"So, I'm assuming you want to talk about Opal?"asked Nurse Joy, as she noticed that Lincoln seem to be eyeing her.
"Yeah, what kind of gym leader is she?"asked Lincoln, wondering what kind of gym leader was the master of fantastic theater, or better known as the wizard!
"Well Opal has been a Pokemon trainer for more than seventy years. So be careful as she changes her strategy in order to have an advantage against her opponent at the drop of a hat. And especially be careful when her tea kicks in."said Nurse Joy, as Lincoln made sure to memorize everything she was saying.
"So she changes up her strategy and she's especially dangerous when her tea kicks in...man, she sounds like my sister."said Lincoln, as Lola would probably get along well with Opal.
"Oh, and be ready for an interview when you take on your gym challenge."said Nurse Joy, causing Lincoln to say something along the lines of..
"Huh?"was all Lincoln could say.
"Miss Opal has recently been talking about retiring and giving the gym over to a new gym leader. So every gym challenge who comes has to go through an extensive interview to see if they are worthy of becoming the next gym leader of Ballonlea."explained Nurse Joy, as Lincoln wondered if he was going to be okay as interviews were not one of his fortes.
Especially since the only interview he's ever given was with a known crook who runs a gas station with overpriced expired food.
Meanwhile in Royal Woods Phillip Philipini, AKA Flip suddenly sneezed.
"Okay, who's talking about me?"questions Flip, who is busy dipping his feet in the nacho cheese...
Back in the Galar Region, Lincoln had exited the Pokemon center and immediately made his way to the stadium where he ran into a familiar face he hasn't talked to you in some time.
"Lincoln!"shouted Marnie, one of Lincoln's rivals.
"Marnie, how have you been?"said Lincoln, trying his best not to sound nervous.
"Me and Morpeko I've been doing well. I just won my gym battle against opal and it wasn't easy considering I mainly use dark type Pokemon. Luckily my Toxicroak managed to pull out a win for me."said Marnie, with her face still showing little emotion.
"So your Croagunk evolved huh?"said Lincoln, as he knew that Toxicroak was the evolved form of Groagunk.
"Yeah, and Morpeko and the others are getting stronger as well so watch out when we face each other in the Rose Bowl!"said Marnie, who considered Lincoln one of her threats in order to become champion.
"Trust me when I say that I look forward to our battle."said Lincoln, trying to not get distracted by how cute Marnie is.
"Well be ready for an extensive interview as Opal will put you through the ringer. I didn't manage to pass her interview but I had no intention of becoming gym leader for this gym anyway."said Marnie, before she noticed that her starter Pokemon was staring at Lincoln.
"I guess Morpecko has taken a liking to you. I guess I shouldn't be surprised as you do seem to have a talent for Pokemon."said Marnie, before she handed some seeds over to her Pokemon for it to eat.
"Well, good luck on your future battles and I hope to face you at the Rose Bowl."said Lincoln, before Marnie got in his face, causing Lincoln to try his best not to blush.
"You better be ready guys you better not lose to anyone else before you face me."said Marnie, before she and her Pokemon walked away.
"Wow, that girl is intense and cute at the same time... she's a keeper."said Lincoln, who felt his heart pounding before he slapped himself in the cheeks.
"Focus Lincoln! You can focus on that cute girl later! For now you need all your attention for your gym battle against Opal!"said Lincoln, before he made his way to the place he needed to do to sign up for the challenge.
(Half an hour later...)
"That interview was brutal but I managed to pass it in order to finally face Opal in a gym battle."said Lincoln, who look like he had just gone through the ringer so to speak as it looked like most of the life had been drained out of him.
The middle child of the loud family had just spent the last half hour answering a bunch of questions as he tried his best to answer them the best he could even though he had no way of knowing what the answers would be like what opal's favorite breakfast would be or what she does with her free time. He got very lucky that he got several of those answers correctly, enough so that he could face opal in a gym battle after they did a review of his answers...
"Okay, let's do this!"said Lincoln as he walked onto the field where he saw the gym leader waiting for him.
"I suppose it's a bit late for saying this but I'm Opal, the Ballonlea gym leader."said the master of fantastic theater and she introduced herself.
"I know. Mustard has told me a lot about you."said Lincoln, surprising the veteran gym leader.
"So that old fool is still alive. Well, I can't say I'm surprised considering how strong he is. Now, I was there during your interview for your quizzes and now the final part is me. I need to see how you and your Pokemon behave."said Opal, before she and Lincoln began making their way to their respective sides of the fields as the referee spoke.
"This will be a four-on-fkur gym battle between Lincoln the challenger and Opal, the Ballonlea gym leader! The battle will be over when one side's Pokemon are unable to battle! Additionally, only the challenger will be allowed to substitute..With all the rules out of the way let the battle begin!"declared the referee as both sides called out their first Pokemon.
"Raboot, I choose you!"said Lincoln as he called out his starter Pokemon.
"Weezing, take the stage!"said Opal, has she called out a Pokemon that appeared to be two grey heads wearing top hats.
Lincoln pulled out his Pokedex to identify the Pokemon in front of him.
Pokedex: Weezing, the poison gas Pokemon. This Pokemon consumes particles that contaminate the air. Instead of leaving droppings, it expels clean air.
"That is both fascinating and disgusting at the same time. So you're a poison and fairy type huh! Well let's see what you got!"said Lincoln as he put his Pokedex away.
"The challenger gets the first move!"said Opal, being cordial.
"Raboot, use flame charge!"ordered Lincoln, causing the rabbit Pokemon to cover himself with flames before he charged at the poison gas pokémon and struck her with the fire type move, causing damage!
"Use tackle!"ordered Opal, causing the poison gas Pokemon to quickly recover before tackling Raboot, causing damage to the rabbit Pokemon.
"Now follow it up with sludge!"ordered Opal, before the poison gas Pokemon shot up last of poison at the rabbit Pokemon.
"Dodge and use quick attack!"ordered Lincoln, causing the rabbit Pokemon to avoid the poison type attack before surrounding himself with white energy and striking Weezing with quick attack, causing damage.
"Now use ember!"ordered Lincoln, causing Raboot to follow up his attack with shooting a blast of fire at Weezing, causing the poison type Pokemon more damage!
"Use fairy wind!"ordered Opal, causing the poison gas pokémon to release a blast of air that appeared to be filled with glitter.
Rab?"said the rabbit Pokemon before he was struck with the fairy type move, causing him a bit of damage.
"Use ember!"ordered Lincoln, causing the rabbit pokémon to take in a deep breath before he expelled another small blast of fire at the poison gas Pokemon!
"Dodge it!"ordered Opal, causing the poison gas Pokemon to avoid the attack.
"Now follow up with quick attack!"ordered Lincoln, causing Raboot to quickly strike the poison gas Pokemon with quick attack while she was distracted, causing Weezing damage.
"Now finish this off with flame charge!"ordered Lincoln, causing the rabbit Pokemon to surround himself with flames before striking the poison gas Pokemon with the fire type attack, knocking her out as his speed increased.
"Weezing is unable to battle! Meaning this part of the battle belongs to Lincoln and Raboot!"declared the referee as opal recalled her Pokemon.
"Fantastic job out there. You really show the audience the power of Pink."said Opal, before she pulled out another pokeball.
"Mawile, take the stage!"said Opal as she called out another Pokemon.
Lincoln meanwhile once again pulled out his Pokedex to identify the Pokemon in front of him.
Pokedex: Mawile, the deceiver Pokemon. It uses its docile looking face to lure its foes into complacency, then bites with its huge, relentless jaws.
"So your part still type. That means Raboot has an advantage."said Lincoln, although he knew better not to underestimate a Pokemon just by its type.
"Raboot, use flame charge!"ordered Lincoln, causing the rabbit Pokemon to surround himself with flames once again before he charged at the deceiver Pokemon.
"Use iron defense!"ordered Opal, causing Mawile to form a translucent metal shield in front of her before her defense increase significantly.
She was then struck by the rabbit Pokemon's attack, but because she used iron defense before the attack hit, she didn't take as damage as much as she would have before.
"So you do change up your strategy during battle."said Lincoln, as with Weezing she use nothing but attack moves, but with Mawile she was smart enough to increase her Pokemon's defense before the super effective attack connected.
"A good Pokemon trainer always makes sure to shake things up every now and again to throw their opponent off."said Opal with a smile."Now use crunch!"
Mawile, upon hearing her trainer's command immediately charged towards Raboot, before turning around and biting the rabbit pokémon with the dark type, doing damage!
"Raboot! Ember!"ordered Lincoln, causing the rabbit Pokemon to fire a blast of flame where he was, causing super effective damage to the deceiver Pokemon.
"Huh, you use the special attack knowing that my Pokemon's special defense wasn't raised. Impressive!"said Opal, before she gave another command."Use draining kiss!"
"No you don't! Use double kick to get out of there!"ordered Lincoln.
This made Raboot strike the deceiver pokémon with double kick, with the first kick used to avoid draining kiss, and the second kick was used to get out of the jaws of the deceiver Pokemon, allowing the rabbit Pokemon to escape while doing damage at the same time.
"Use ember!"ordered Lincoln.
"Use crunch!"ordered Opal, causing the deceiver Pokemon to turn around and open up its back Jaws before running towards the rabbit Pokemon.
This caused both attacks to strike at the same time, causing both Pokemon damage! Soon attend silence followed as a few seconds later Mawile took a knee, while Raboot fell to the floor, revealing that he had been knocked out.
"Raboot is unable to battle! Meaning that this part of the battle goes to Opal and Mawile!"declared the referee as Lincoln recalled his starter Pokemon back to his pokeball.
"Thanks for an amazing job! Now leave the rest to us."said Lincoln, before he pulled away the pokeball and pulled out another.
"Wartortle, I choose you!"said Lincoln as he called out the turtle Pokemon for battle.
"Now you're using a water type! Interesting!"said Opal, before she gave the deceiver Pokemon another command."Use crunch!"
Mawile, upon hearing that command charged towards the turtle Pokemon before jumping into the air and turning around to attack with its back jaws.
"Retreat into your shell!"ordered Lincoln, causing the turtle Pokemon to retreat back into a shell just as the dark type attack hit.
"What?!"said a shocked Opal, as she noticed that crunch didn't do any damage because the turtle Pokemon retreated into his shell in the nick of time.
"Now use water gun from that position!"ordered Lincoln, causing Wartortle to stick out his head before shooting the deceiver Pokemon with water gun, causing Mawile damage.
"Now you use bite!"ordered Lincoln, causing the turtle Pokemon to extend his arms and legs at once, releasing him from the grasp of the deceiver Pokemon as he bit Mawile with bite, causing her damage.
Mawile then fell to the floor and was revealed to have been knocked out by the attack.
"Mawile is unable to battle! Meaning that this part of the battle belongs to Lincoln and Wartortle."declared the referee as Opal recalled the deceiver Pokemon back to her pokeball.
"Excellent job. Now the show must go on."said Opal, before she noticed that Lincoln recalled Wartortle.
"I see you're giving Wartortle a break."said Opal with a smile.
"Just trying to even out the odds."said Lincoln, as he didn't know what Pokemon Opal would call out next.
All he knew is that he needed to change up his strategy as well if he hoped to beat the master of fantastic theater.
"Corviknight, I choose you!"exclaimed Lincoln as he called out the Raven Pokemon.
"Togekiss, take the stage!"said Opal as she called out her Pokemon.
"So it's flying type vs flying type."said Lincoln as he pulled out his Pokedex to identify Opal's Pokemon.
Pokedex: Togekiss, the jubilee Pokemon. These Pokemon are never seen anywhere near conflict or turmoil. In recent times, they've hardly been seen at all.
"So you must be one powerful Pokemon."said Lincoln has his instincts were telling him to be cautious.
"Use steel wing!"ordered Lincoln, causing Corviknight to surround his wings with still like energy before flying towards the jubilee Pokemon.
"Use mystical fire!"ordered Opal, causing the jubilee Pokemon to form a ring of fire around its mouth before it fired a powerful blast of flames!
"Dodge it!"ordered Lincoln, causing the Raven Pokemon to quickly avoid getting hit by mystical fire.
"Use drill peck!"ordered Lincoln, causing Corviknight to quickly fly towards Togekiss, before striking the jubilee Pokemon with the powerful flying type attack, causing significant damage..
"Use air slash!"ordered Opal, causing Togekiss to flap her wings so fast that she released powerful razor sharp wind.
Corviknight was struck by the powerful flying type attack and took damage as he started to descend from the air!
"Use steel wing!"ordered Lincoln, causing the Raven Pokemon to quickly recover and fly towards the jubilee Pokemon before striking her with the steel type attack, causing super effective damage!
"Use mystical fire!"ordered Opal, causing Togekiss to form another ring of fire around its mouth before blasting a powerful burst of flames, striking the Raven Pokemon and doing super effective damage!
"Use pluck!"ordered Lincoln, causing the Raven Pokemon to surround his beak with energy before striking the jubilee Pokemon with a downwards pluck attack, causing damage!
"Use draining kiss!"ordered Opal!"
"No you don't! Use steel wing!"ordered Lincoln, causing both Pokemon to fly towards one another with their respective attacks!
"Switch to mystical fire!"ordered Opal, causing the jubilee Pokemon to stop using draining kiss and instead use mystical fire on the Raven Pokemon!
"Cor!"said the Raven Pokemon as he was struck with mystical fire.
"Power through and use steel wing!"ordered Lincoln, causing the Raven Pokemon to find newfound termination.
So Corviknight power through mystical fire and managed to strike the jubilee Pokemon with steel wing, causing a small explosion that surrounded the upward part of the battlefield!
The audience and everyone else in the stadium was silent as both Pokemon fell out of the smoke cloud and fell onto the floor, revealing that they had been both knocked out!
"Corviknight and Togekiss are both unable to battle! Meaning that this part of the battle will be declared a draw!"declared the referee, before both trainers recalled their Pokemon.
"Corviknight, you did an awesome job out there."said Lincoln with a smile.
"Fantastic showmanship Togekiss. Now leave the rest to us."said Opal, before she faced her opponent.
"I must say you are an impressive trainer. I never would have guessed that you would have been so stubborn up until now to power through mystical fire. And that strategy to use Wartortle's shell as a defense against crunch was brilliant. Now show me what you are made of, Lincoln Loud!"shouted Opal, before she pulled out another pokeball.
"Alcremie, take the stage!"said Opal, before she called out a Pokemon that looked like it was made out of whipped cream.
"That must be her Ace Pokemon."said Lincoln as he pulled out his Pokedex to identify the Pokemon in front of him.
Pokedex: Alcremie, the cream Pokemon. When it trusts it's trainer, it will treat them to berries it's decorated with cream.
"So you're a pure fairy type pokemon huh. In that case...Toxel, I choose you!"said Lincoln as he called out the baby Pokemon for battle.
"Tox!"said the baby Pokemon as he was ready for battle.
"A poison type Pokemon huh, well let's see what he is made of!"said Opal, as the battle resume.
"Toxel, use nuzzle!"ordered Lincoln, causing the baby Pokemon to begin rubbing his cheeks before he charged at the cream pokémon.
"Use psychic!"ordered Opal, causing the cream pokémon to fire a blast of psychic energy at the baby Pokemon.
"Dodge!"ordered Lincoln, causing Toxel to jump into the air to avoid getting struck with psychic before he continued with his charge with using nuzzle!
"Use protect!"ordered Opal, causing the cream pokémon to surround yourself with a bubble of energy that protected her from nuzzle!
"Use acid!"ordered Lincoln, causing the baby Pokemon to fire a blast of poison from his mouth.
"Dodge and use psychic!"ordered Opal, causing the cream pokémon to jump into the air to avoid getting struck with acid, before landing and firing another blast of psychic energy at the baby Pokemon!
This attack struck the baby Pokemon and did super effective damage!
"Toxel!"shouted Lincoln with concern.
"Use psychic again!"ordered Opal, causing Alcremie to fire another blast of psychic energy at Toxel!
"Toxel!"shouted Lincoln as the baby Pokemon was struck
Toxel look like he was ready to collapse as he kept on wobbling around like he was going to faint at any moment.
"No! You can't just give up right now when you train so hard in the Glimwood Tangle the last two days! Show then the results of your training by facing off all those fairy type pokemon in the woods! Show everyone in the stadium why I believe in you!"shouted Lincoln, hoping that his words would reach Toxel.
And they appear to have worked as soon Toxel regained focus and let out a battle cry before he began glowing!
"Toxel... you're evolving!"shouted Lincoln as his pokémon started to grow in size and change his form.
A couple of seconds later the process was complete and a new Pokemon stood where the baby Pokemon once stood!
Lincoln pulled out his Pokedex to identify the Pokemon in front of him.
Pokemon : Toxtricity, the punk Pokemon and the evolved form of Toxel. Low key form. Capable of generating 15,000 volts of electricity, this Pokemon looks down on all who would challenge it.
"Tox!"said the punk Pokemon as he strong his chest strings.
"Yeah! Go Toxtricity! And I see you learned a whole new set of moves!"said Lincoln, who was super proud that his Toxel had finally evolved.
"Well that was unexpected. Now let us see how strong that Pokemon really is!"said Opal, before she recalled Alcremie.
"So it's a dynamax battle!"said Lincoln as he recalled Toxtricity.
"Yes, it is! And it appears my afternoon tea has finally kicked in!"said Opal with new phone vigorous she started activating the wishing star in her dynamax band.
Lincoln did the same and soon both pokeballs expanded before the respective trainers threw the pokeballs back into the field, releasing gigantamax Alcremie and gigantamax Toxtricity at the same time!
"TOX!"exclaimed the gigantamax punk Pokemon.
"Use max ooze!"ordered Lincoln, causing the punk Pokemon to release a massive flood of poison towards the cream Pokemon, causing Alcremie super effective damage before she was poisoned!
"Use G-Max finale!"ordered Opal, causing star like projectiles to strike Toxtrcity, causing damage.
"Finish this with your gmax move! Use G-Max stun shock!"ordered Lincoln, causing the punk Pokemon to create a purple guitar made out of purple electricity!
Then he slammed the literal electric guitar onto the field, causing a storm cloud to appear above the cream Pokemon before a blast of purple electricity struck Alcremie, causing a lot of damage to the cream Pokemon!
As soon as G-Max stunt shock stopped did Alcremie begin to shrink down in size before she returned back to her regular size and was revealed to have been knocked out.
"Alcremie is unable to battle! Meaning that this challenge goes to Lincoln and Toxtricity!"declared the referee as the punk Pokemon returned back to his normal size.
"We did it!"said Lincoln as he went over and hugged his Pokemon.
"Tox!"said the punk Pokemon with embarrassment.
Opal meanwhile recalled her Pokemon.
"Fantastic theater out there Alcremie, you really showed everyone the power of Pink."said Opal, before she began approaching Lincoln.
"I must say you certainly did surprise me out there young man but I'm afraid you're not what I'm looking for in the new Ballonlea gym leader. It's nothing personal, just my personal preference."said Opal as Lincoln turned to face her.
"That's okay, I'm aiming for Leon's seat anyway."said Lincoln, causing Opal to smile.
"Well you beat me fair and square. So take this fairy badge as proof of your victory."said Opal, before she handed Lincoln the fairy badge.
"Yes! We just won the fairy badge!"declared Lincoln as he held the badges high as he could in the air, with Toxtricity playing an air guitar behind him.
"I'm assuming you're going to take on Gordie next as he's the closest gym leader. Well how about you and me travel to Hammerlocke together as I have business with the chairman there."said Opal, causing Lincoln to smile.
"No problem. After all I never say no to Good Company."said Lincoln with a smile.
This made both trainers laugh as the audience cheered Lincoln's name.
Lincoln meanwhile just stared back at the fairy badge. Just three more gym badges and he would participate in the Galar League... what he plans to make it to the top to face Leon for his title!
