Kurt sits at the corner of the table, sipping his vodka soda, looking on as his colleagues chat and laugh among themselves.

He feels like an outsider here, in this bar, among these people so friendly and casual with each other. God, when was the last time he was even out at a bar? He can't remember.

"Sociable as always," Sebastian says, sliding into the seat beside Kurt.

Kurt rolls his eyes, doesn't grant Sebastian the courtesy of a glance in his direction. "Oh good, just the person I wanted to see on my Friday night."

"You're not going to make any friends with that attitude," Sebastian chides him. Kurt can hear the teasing tone to his voice, but that just irritates him more.

"Who says I'm here to make friends?"

"Well I doubt you're here to make enemies, and it's not like any of them are already your friends, so. Process of elimination."

Kurt turns to look at him then, glares, and Sebastian just offers a shrug.

"Whatever," he says, deciding Sebastian isn't worth the argument.

"Well, just a tip; if you do want to make some friends, being less of a bitch would be a good place to start," the other man suggests, tone still teasing, before he slides out of the chair and makes his way further down the table, striking up a conversation with someone else.

The night carries on, and he exchanges a few words with coworkers here and there, but no conversations seem to stick and they all move along.

One drink turns to three, and he really should stop, he doesn't drink often and he doesn't want to make a fool of himself in front of the people he works with, needs to maintain some level of composure, can't let his guard down.

He's leaning back against the wall, observing again, when Sebastian walks up to him, holds out a glass in offering.

"What's this?" Kurt asks, confused.

"A drink," Sebastian says with a laugh. "Take it."

"Why?" Kurt asks warily.

Sebastian rolls his eyes. "Jesus, Kurt, take the goddamn drink."

Kurt takes the glass from him, but doesn't drink, just looks at it kind of dumbly.

"I didn't poison it, if that's what you're wondering," Sebastian informs him, taking a spot against the wall next to Kurt.

"I wasn't, but now I am," Kurt replies, surprised to hear the joking tone in his own voice.

"I have to earn your trust first," Sebastian explains, a grin on his face.

"Right, of course," Kurt says, finally takes a sip, turns to the other man and gives him a rueful smile. "Where's the fun in it otherwise?"

"Exactly," Sebastian nods in agreement.
