51: SC-Player: King of the Labyrinth

Fanfic

Many people know of the horrors and glories of the SCP-Universe. Few are they that would want to go there. I got sent there, ROB-style. At least I got a system. Which makes me an Anomaly. In the SCP-verse. Fuck.

My system isn't all that great, either. Ten skills, First tier. No stats. No HP. No Inventory. That's it. Thaumaturgy, Analysis, Tracking, Science, Survival, Combat, Lore, Physical Conditioning, Mental Conditioning, and Reality Unwarping. That's it. Thankfully, it came with an auto-correct, so once I max my levels in the skill (100*Tier), I will be unbeatable. Unthankfully, I need a catalyst to advance tiers (a teacher, self-evolving [VERY difficult], or an artifact), and Tier one is Beginner. The tiers are Beginner, Novice, Apprentice, Intermediate, Journeyman, Adept, Advanced, Master, Grandmaster, and Expert, with the two advanced levels of Advanced Expert and Complete Master. If I can make it to tier ten, I can easily bump up at least one of those last two tiers, as the qualifications are: be able to recognize any new form or type of your field you run across, for Advanced Expert, and know everything available in your field for Complete Master, but most anomalies have the Anomalous tag, which gives them boosted luck, stats, and skills, and the average person performs at the Apprentice or Journeyman level. SCP people are at least Adepts, so yeah, kinda screwed. Worse, I was like this at age seven, so I was puny and undeveloped as well. I was tempted to run down certain anomalies to boost myself, but good sense won out. That was a surefire way to get the attention of… people. Bad people. BEST case was 'let's lock you up, forever' SCP Foundation. That was BEST case. Thankfully, I can train.

Fifteen years later, I had stalled out. I was at rock bottom. My skills were just good enough to draw attention, but not enough to defend myself. I had stalled out at the peak of the Adept Tier, in everything but Thaum (Intermediate) and Reality Unwarping (barely halfway through Apprentice, and I was PLEASED with that. Do you KNOW how hard it is to find reality warps to unwarp without drawing… attention? Thankfully, my Thaum minorly counted.) Still, I am training as frequently as I can. Then, one day (two days after my twenty-second birthday), I saw it. A policeman, watching me. Now, to the average person, that would just be odd, maybe concerning, but I knew better. He was watching me, carefully. No blinking, serious expression, perfect posture and appearance. I used my Analysis on him. SCP agent. I was made.

I had, at most, two weeks. I needed out.

That is when my system beeped at me.

Condition fulfilled.

First Quest:

You would rather not spend the rest of your days in the SCP's care. Time to run!

[] Get supplies

[]Enter the Back Rooms.

I almost choked when I saw the quest, but I got it together quickly. My system may want me dead, but if I wanted to run… the Back Rooms would be the place to do it.

Five minutes later, I had my bug-out bag (rations, water, several weapons, Thaum components, money, and other gear), a suit of pretty solid Kevlar armor, and a staff that had a spear head (it was a spear). Ten minutes later, I was out the back way (not on any map) and in the sewers. Three hours later I was on a train out of town. One day later, I was in an abandoned industrial complex. In less than a week, I had gone from a talented, but not that great businessman, to a wanderer of the Back Rooms.

And I got my hope.
